Without a computer again, but good news!
General | Posted 9 years agoMy PC was giving me problems from the start. I couldn't overclock the CPU, which was the whole reason I picked the parts I did. Damn, Gigabyte.
Well, a really special guy we know was looking for a computer for Steam games. Turns out, he's a lot more down on his luck than we knew. He's going through an amazingly hard time, and he's making money, but not enough to afford what he needed.
So I upgraded the CPU and threw in a WiFi card, and gave him my whole rig. Monitors, keyboard, everything. And he'll pay us back in installments about a third of what it's worth. He has it now, and is having a very nice Christmas.
Return to me, I'm without. But I have a list and an OK from the financial coordinator (i.e., wife) to piece together something I really wanted.
So, here's my list:
ASUS GTX 1070 ROG Strix OC Edition (1860MHz boost) video card
Intel Core i7 6700K 4.0GHz Quad Core CPU
ASUS ATX Z170 Deluxe motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4x8) DDR4 3733 RAM
EVGA Supernova G2 650W power supply
Noctua NH-D15S CPU cooler
Corsair Carbide Air 540 Black case
2 Corsair Air AF140 Red LED 140mm case fans
Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500GB SSD
Windows 10 Home DVD OEM 64bit
LG Electronics BH16NS40 SATA 3D Blu-Ray+RW drive
Acer GN246HL Bbid 24-Inch 3D 144Hz 1ms response monitor
Cooler Master Devastator II Red LED Gaming keyboard & mouse
So...a computer that I can use for whatever I need, including watching SHD movies in 3D and playing on an Oculus Rift. As well as any arting I want to do.
I'll also be able to showcase it to people who might want me to build a PC for them, which I don't have as of yet.
Much impatient. So excitement.

Who else is going to have an Alton Brown's Good Eats turkey?
General | Posted 9 years agoGood to know
General | Posted 9 years agoThat if there wasn't enough division on Facebook and within my own family, I could come here to my happy escape and see more of it.
Sounds good to me.
I get that some people are scared. I get that there's a lot to be scared of. I get that some people are happy, and there's a lot to be happy about.
I'm scared by a much larger thing than the results of the election: that everyone is divided so well that what we've learned in the past year is getting lost, and in the end, it won't matter, and we'll be making the same mistakes in four years.
I don't know the answer, but I wasn't expecting to see more of the same shit-throwing on here.
Oh well.

Question for my watchers
General | Posted 9 years agoIf you were reading a graphic novel or a manga, how many pages of art (9-panel) would you think is OK per chapter? Have you read them where it varies a lot, depending on if it's an action scene or a story scene?

Windows 10 update - Computer is hosed
General | Posted 9 years agoSo, my computer force-updated the last time I shut it off. I caught it as it was preparing to do the updates.
Went to start it up today. WiFi is gone. Isn't showing any available networks, but it tells me that the device is OK. Go into settings...ok, all of the power settings are set to maximum.
When I try to close the settings window, the window locks up. I notice, shortly thereafter...closing anything locks the thing up. Doing anything freezes the thing I'm doing, across the board. Running Illustrator, it locks up when I start drawing.
I tried to restart my PC, and it can't figure out how to do that, either. It's been sitting at the spinny "Restarting" circle for fifteen minutes.
Boy, I wish I still had 7.

Let's see how this goes.
General | Posted 9 years agoI had to take a break from doing this. It was making me incredibly unhappy. There's a lot of reasons for that, and I'm not going to get into it. There's no nice way to wrap up my feelings, so it's best if I just bury it all.
But, for the foreseeable future, I'm going to stop talking as much as I can. Comments, chats, submission descriptions, etc.
I'm also going to do art when I feel like it, and do art I feel like doing. It might get weird. Some of you might not like it. Some of you will. Maybe. There aren't a lot of furs who are interested in what I do, and fewer who will even read this...it's not exactly like I picked a fetish and made 200 pieces of art centered around it with 3,000 watchers. So, I figure if I shift into doing what I want and nobody likes it, and I fuck this all to hell, then no harm no foul. At least I'll be doing art.
Maybe I'll like doing this again sometime, and maybe I'll be a likeable person some day. Maybe I'll figure out who I am.
One can hope.
For the time being, I'm just going to do me, get some stuff out of my head, and see where things go.
