Posted 10 years agoTaking Commissions
Posted 10 years agoHi, everyone!
Hope you're enjoying the New Year.
It's been a while since I've offered commissions, but I'll have to do so if I'm going to get to Furry Fiesta (since I didn’t work this past xmas season, and businesses down here don’t seem to be eager to hire an applicant over 40).
A one character commission will be $20 for pencil and $30 for ink. Any additional character will be $5 each.
A one character comic style multi panel (2 to 4 panels) commission will be $30 for pencil and $40 for ink. Additional characters will be $5 each. If a multi panel commission has more than 4 panels every extra panel will be $5 each.
Will draw from general to adult. What I will and won't draw for adult commissions can be found here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1026789/
If interested note me here or email me at daq_artwork(at)yahoo, daq_artwork(at)hotmail, or daq.artwork(at)gmail and I will send you my mailing address.
I don't have PayPal, so it's check or money order only.

Congratulations to SpaceX and Boeing
Posted 11 years agoSpaceX and Boeing have been awarded contracts to transport astronauts by 2017 into space from US soil using the Dragon V2 and the CST-100, respectively.

Hopefully Sierra Nevada will continue developing the Dream Chaser. Maybe ESA or JAXA, or both, can make use of it.
And, of course, Jeff Bezos will continue using his own money to develop his Blue Origin launch vehicle and spaceship. It'd be interesting to see if he could get that into orbit sooner than Boeing's.

South Texas Collectors Expo once again
Posted 11 years agoGetting ready for the STCE down here by the border this weekend. Me and my brother will be at tables 59 and 60 selling various stuff we've collected throughout the years- comics, magazines, CDs, manga, art books, and plenty of out of print and collectible LEGO sets (Anyone looking for the Ghostbusters Ecto-1? Only one left!).
Hope to see some of you there! :)

Trump/Team Shuffle at Texas Furry Fiesta 2015
Posted 11 years agoJust what the title says.
Or to quote Elin's post on twitter:
"Trump & Team Shuffle will NOT be at Further Confusion 2015; they WILL be at FurryFiesta 2015 instead"
So if you had any plans to get Book of the Beast or any artwork from Trump or any of his colleagues early next year you'll have to do it in Dallas instead of San Jose.
See you all there! :)

I got to meet and talk with him when he was a guest at Anthrocon many years ago. Brought over my copies of the Samurai Cat books and he autographed every one.
RIP Mark.

Manned spacecraft question
Posted 11 years agoHi, everyone! Just posting this so I can ask your opinion.
Anyone else out there keeping up with the various manned spacecraft being developed? There's quite a few designs out there.
I'm curious to know which one you think will manage to get into orbit with a crew first?
Here's a list of the spacecraft if you're not familiar with them:
SpaceX Dragon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_(spacecraft)
Cargo version has already flown to the International Space Station three times. Manned version scheduled to be launched in a year or two.
(I think this one has the best chance of getting a crew into space first.)
Dream Chaser
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_Chaser
Sierra Nevada's spaceplane is scheduled for a test launch in late 2016.
CST-100
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CST-100
Spacecraft being developed by Boeing to ferry astronauts to the ISS.
Blue Origin
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_O.....tal_spacecraft
Spacecraft being developed by Amazon.com owner Jeff Bezos.
Never much news on how progress is going with this one. Bezos like to keep things about his spaceship secret until it's ready, I guess.
Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orion_(spacecraft)
NASA spaceship meant for missions beyond Earth orbit. (Moon, Mars, etc.)
A test flight is supposed to take place this year. After that the first manned flight is scheduled for 2020.
PTK-NP/пилотируемый транспортный корабль нового поколения
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prospe.....ansport_System
Russia's new spaceship for going to the Moon and beyond.
Excalibur Almaz
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excalibur_Almaz
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TKS_spacecraft
The TKS did fly to the Salyut space stations a few times in the 1970's, but never manned.
HTV-R
http://iss.jaxa.jp/htv-r/
http://archive.ists.or.jp/upload_pdf/2011-g-09.pdf
http://archive.ists.or.jp/upload_pdf/2013-g-16.pdf
Japanese idea for a manned spaceship.
Not likely to fly since there is news of the HTV being cancelled.
ISRO Orbital Vehicle
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISRO_Orbital_Vehicle
Indian idea for a manned spaceship.
Might be cancelled, might not. The news about this spacecraft keeps changing.
Skylon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skylon_(spacecraft)
Single-stage to orbit spaceplane being developed in the UK by Reaction Engines Limited.
First test flights projected for 2019.

Hopefully we'll sell plenty of the stuff we've each been collecting so we can put a dent in the bill for my sister's funeral.

RIP Sister
Posted 11 years agoMy sister Irma passed away last night. She was taken to the hospital two days before her birthday and never regained consciousness. RIP.
Sister in the hospital
Posted 11 years agoMy sister had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital yesterday morning. She was unresponsive and barely had a pulse when the EMS crew took her away.
The doctors have diagnosed her with pneumonia. She went to a clinic or the ER (not exactly sure which one she did go to) the day before to try to get someone to help her, but after giving them a blood sample she was basically ignored for the rest of the day (and she stayed there until almost 2am).
Around 11:30pm my sister was moved to the ICU.
