Fav-bombed by me? Sorry.
General | Posted 2 years agoIf you came to this page as a result of my fav-bombing you, please do not take it personally. I am merely catching up on almost 17,000 watch-submissions accumulated over 200 or so days.
I'm terribly sorry; it will probably happen again. In a year's time or so.
2/22/25 EDIT: I was right; it did happen again, this time at nearly 19,000 submissions. Sorry once more, especially to those of you who were major victims this time around.
10/3/25 EDIT: There we go again! At least it only happened at 8500 subs this time. New personal rule: Never let it go for more than a month.

Dear recipients of my latest fave-spree:

New Year, new slate
General | Posted 4 years agoI'm cleaning my notifications out completely. 37,219 submissions, 15 watches, 73 comments, 55 favorites, 2,833 journals, dating back to as far as June 2020, all wiped. Time to start afresh on these. And ideally keep up a better schedule on keeping them clean.
Sorry to those I miss fav'ing as a result! But it must be done at this point.
EDIT: And in doing so, I notice a new feature - the site no longer says "You have no new messages." There's just nothing where it used to be.

34k submissions
General | Posted 4 years agoAs of this writing, 34,133 submissions are sitting in my message box, the oldest of which is from June 19th, 2020.
My procrastination game has grown too strong; thinking of just nuking 'em all and starting afresh.

Discord group: Anthro-Pokés Pseudonymous
General | Posted 4 years agoAfter spending so long on Discord, and being unable to find any groups for the particular subject-matter I was looking for, I went and made a group of my own. I'm sure it could appeal to a few people here.
Got a pokésona? An anthro pokémon OC? Because I had been looking to join a group for that. However, I couldn't find any myself, so I took the initiative and made one!
Feel free to join; or spread news of it around, if you know anyone who'd love to join: https://discord.gg/sWsZDsbERt

I did Inktober!
General | Posted 6 years agoYou're probably wondering why it wasn't posted here. Well, mainly because they were all traditional-media works that I took pictures of with my phone. Rather unfitting for a place like FA.
I will, however, link to a Twitter post where I gathered them all together. Here you go!: https://twitter.com/i/moments/1190039425809448960
That went pretty well.

THERE...yet again.
General | Posted 6 years agoRemember 2 and a half ago when I said I'd never let my submissions get over 20k again before going through and clearing them out?
Yeah, looks like I was wrong about that.
I know I say it every time, but I'm sort of thinking I should post more on here; I put a bunch of doodles and smaller drawings on my Twitter account already. Especially this month, as I step back into the world of traditional media and endeavor through the gauntlet that is Inktober.
Maybe I should get that PostyBirb thing I see going around these days - that seems like it'd be useful.

General | Posted 8 years ago11 months and over 26,000 submission notifications later, I'm finally caught up on all my fav's. Whew.
...wait, has it really been a year and a half since I submitted anything to FA? Damn, I'm behind.
Well, no matter: I've been posting a lot of work here: https://ask-colton-ac.tumblr.com
Yeah, it's an in-character ask-blog, super-nerdy. But that's okay! It's Animal Crossing-themed, who could hate that?
Also I don't think the "Favorites" counter on my profile page is accurate...unless it's talking about the number of favorites I've gotten. But even then, I'm not sure it's accurate.

FAnime
General | Posted 9 years agoHeya. Been a while since I wrote a journal, so I'll get that one with the FC meme off my page.
First, the whole FA business, whatever...don't care.
Now, I'm gonna be leaving for the local anime convention, Fanime, tomorrow. Been saving for it all month, that's why commissioning has dried up from me - gotta save, you know. Won't be back till Monday, so if I go into total radio silence during that time, you know why. If I maintain total radio silence after that time, it probably means I died; send a search party or something.
Those who want updates on my Fanime shenanigans this weekend can follow me on Twitter; those who don't, shouldn't.
Fave-spree will commence Monday, and probably carry on into Tuesday. Cheers mate!

Another FC meme
General | Posted 10 years agoBecause why not? I know a few people around here who are going.
Where are you staying?
Mariott; I've taken over a local's reservation, now I've got a 2-bed place! First time I've captained a room myself, I'm really excited!
What day are you getting there?
Thursday.
How are you traveling?
By car, most likely. May take mass transit if the rain's not so bad.
Who will you be rooming with?
I don't know, actually. I got my room, but right now it's just me - if anyone going to FC still needs a room, would you like to join up?
Who will you be hanging out with?
With whoever comes up to me and asks to hang out, I'd guess. But that's never happened! :D ... D:
How is the best way to find you?
Look for the guy with the Adidas sack-pack...actually, there might be a few of those. Look for the guy with the badge that matches my icon, I guess.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Probably. Depends on the panels they're offering.
Will you be suiting?
I don't have a suit.
Do you do free art?
Maybe.
Do you do trades?
I'd be happy to.
Do you do badges?
If you think I'm capable, I'd be glad to do one for you.
What is your gender?
Male.
How tall are you?
5'11".
Can I talk to you?
Please do! I do tend to get lonely at these things.
Can I touch you?
A light touch, I'm sure will be fine.
Can I visit your room?
If I don't know you, don't count on it.
Can I buy you drinks?
It'd be awfully kind of you, if you really want to do it.
Can I give you stuff?
Sure, I like stuff.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
If you really want to, I guess.
Are you nice?
I like to think so, but I don't know for sure.
Do you have an artist table?
HAHAHAHAHAHA...sorry, I mean no. I'm lacking the ability that an artist's table would require.
Will you be going to parties?
I'll probably mingle, drift from room to room.
Will you be performing?
I don't think so.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Say "Dee Cee?" or something along those lines. If I don't turn to face you, then I probably didn't hear you.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Hard to say. Like with the parties, I sort of drift from place to place.
What/where will you be eating?
Definitely grabbing some donuts at Psycho Donut - may be walking down to the Poor House Bistro at some point. Sunday, going to Flames down the road for brunch. It's some good shit.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
You can, if you're paying for yourself. Or if I specifically say I'll cover you. Either one.
Can I look in your sketchbook?
I suppose; not that there's much to see.
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
Yes you can!
Can I take your picture?
If you tell me, sure, why not?
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Much like my goal in life: survive.

UK watchers - want ten quid?
General | Posted 10 years agoWow, I haven't updated this journal since May.
If you've been wondering what I've been up to in that time: work. Lots of work. Not art-work, either: retail. Six-day work weeks. Which became seven-day work weeks for a month split between July and August, it's been rather miserable for me. Not all from one employer, I'm actually split between two jobs. Full-time hours, without the full-time benefits. Yee-haw.
ANYWAY, here's what I made this journal for:
A while back, I participated in a survey offering Amazon voucher-money as a raffle prize. I check my e-mail today, and it turns out I'm a winner: Ten pounds of Amazon credit, for me! Only problem is: the credit's for amazon.co.uk. Being I'm on another continent (and even there, on the opposite side of the continent from the UK), it's not really feasible for me to use that credit towards purchasing any goods.
Which brings me to my main point: would any of you watchers in the UK like to have it? In exchange for something else, perhaps? (A commission, or a discount on a commission, however you'd prefer.) Or even if you'd just like the money, no strings attached? Just send me a note, we'll work something out!
Thank you!

Favin' spree incoming
General | Posted 11 years agoOkay, so first things first, thought I'd get that journal about Christmas cards off my front page. Not that I'm not sending them out, just that I'm not accepting any more. So if you wanted one...too bad, you'll have to twist my arm!
Anyway, I've fallen really far behind on my faving's, leaving my messages full up, so I was going to go back through all my messages and just fave as I was planning, just without commenting this time.
So if you're here about that, please try not to be offended.

Christmas cards
General | Posted 11 years agoHello!
Remember when I did this last year? No? Well, here it is again, BACK THIS YEAR! Who wants a Christmas card?
Yes, I personally will send a Christmas card to your house, of my own (partial) design and (tiny) expense, at no charge to you! And if my aim is any good, it will arrive at your door by or before Christmas Day! All you have to do is send a note to me with your address or, if you're one of those paranoid people, send it to my e-mail! And then I'll send you a Christmas card I designed and printed myself, and a nice note to go with it! (Which will probably be handwritten! WOW~!)
I'm on a bit of a time-crunch, though, so if you want one, send your address my way by the 10th, and I'll see about getting a card out to you. It'll be coooooooool!

Where to find me blah blah whatever
General | Posted 11 years agoYou don't want to find me.
No, you don't.
But if you really do, just look at my contact info below this journal.
Seriously, it's always been there. I don't know why people keep making these journals when they could just point that out and leave it at that. And anything else could be asked through those channels.

What a weekend - convention staff, birthday, and stuff
General | Posted 11 years agoHi, all. As those of you who have me on instant messengers may have noticed, I wasn't really around this past weekend. (Except in Skype's case, when I was around all the time; also very unusual for me.)
Well, there was a very good reason for that: you see, I was out of town at BABScon, specifically working as the convention store lead. Yup, spent both my birthday and Easter selling goods to men who play with cartoon horses. Though I did get wished a happy birthday by the VA for Spike, Cathy Weseluck; she's quite nice, she is! Knowledgeable sociologist, too.
Also of nice note: being on staff got me into Staff Feed, which was excellent! Can't remember the last time I had a bowl of non-flake cereal, that was pretty great. All the veggies, chips, french dip, meatballs, and spaghetti I could handle, quite good. And since it was all free, my food budget was...well, practically nonexistent. :D
So yeah, great time there overall; I look forward to participating in it again somehow next year.
That said, when I got back and thought about my birthday, I got to thinking, looking back on the last few years. my friends have all done so much for me...but how much have I done for them? I mean, even when I was still drawing, I didn't do much in the way of stuff for others. I feel bad for that.
I've slowly been building up my art skills again, though I'm not quite to the point that I can create right and proper. But when I do get to that point, I'd love to repay those who have shown me such kindness over the years.
So, I guess what I'm really trying to say here is, thank you all for sticking with the weirdo that is me. I only hope I'll continue to be worth your while for a long time to come. :)

Stupid molars - an FYI
General | Posted 11 years agoHey guys. Haven't said/done much for myself lately here.
Just thought I'd let you know I'm going in for wisdom teeth extraction tomorrow/today at 9:30. I've got three little bastards coming out, two underneath the gums; I'm gonna get some general anesthesia that'll knock me out and, if my worst fears end up being realized, kill me.
Presumably that won't happen, but if it does, you'll know why I disappeared from the internet!
...yes, I am scared.

Return home, to an unfortunate fact of life
General | Posted 12 years agoSo tonight, I got home from Further Confusion 2014; I hadn't been in some time, and it was nice to see some new/old faces about, even if most median prices have jumped somewhat out of my range (and even if I did miss a couple faces, too.).
So I go onto Skype, and I'm messaged by an old, old acquaintance who, from what I can see, has begun going to great lengths to sever all former and current contact. He's been constantly asking me to block him, unwatch him, whole nine yards, out of nowhere, and for reasons he's never explained. I keep asking why, he keeps repeating, "just do it." "damn do it." "why does it have to be the damn retards that don't understand..." I decide to ask him once more.
"What do you get out of doing this? Will it solve all your problems?"
"i'll block you"
It's at this point, I get angry and just straight-up state my speculation: "Or maybe it's something deeper. Perhaps you seek to end your own life, and you think by burning all possible bridges you have in this world, you will pass away with a clean conscience. Well, I've got some bad news for you: it doesn't work that way."
"go to hell dude"
And that was that: because I would not block him, he blocked me himself. Whether I was correct in my fear or not, I do not know. Could I have handled that better? Almost certainly. But after everything he said, my frustration finally came to a point where I couldn't dance around the thought any longer.
It is a difficult fact to accept: we can try to help others all we want, but ultimately, we can only help those who want to be helped.
