Unique Art Request - Artist Wanted for Map Drawing
General | Posted 10 years agoSo I have a little project I've been working on for a long time, but only recently decided to bring into full creation. I have a D&D campaign setting I've DMed for friends before. Custom classes, my own take on the classic fantasy world setting and such, and I even have a rough sketch of a world map a friend of mine had made for me a long time ago (insert Stars Wars ref here).
I'm already working on the campaign rule book and have been play testing it's final form with some friends (said game is on hiatus until further notice due to work scheduling being annoying). I had some art commissioned for it from
thekc and plan to get more from other artists, but one piece of art I have no idea who to commission from: the previously mentioned world map. My current sketch is outdated and doesn't look too good for what I have planned, so I want to commission someone to make an improved version of it, or two actually, one stylized to look like a classic fantasy world map and another more modern looking with color coding for factions/kingdoms and markers for places of interest.
If anyone knows a good artist who would be willing to take this commission or if you are one, let me know!

BIOGRAPHY
Vargas is the oldest of 3 siblings. He is a Brazilian sharpnose shark with short, black hair, with a single dreadlock on the lower middle back of his head. He and his siblings Fernanda and Adelmo were 4th generation descendants of Japanese immigrants, whose traditions were kept strong even then, living in a martial arts school maintained by the family in Rio de Janeiro for many years. His mother worked abroad as a diplomat, and their father had expanded a branch of the school to another town, while their grandparents raised them in Rio. All 3 were tutored in kendo, the Japanese sword fighting art, but Vargas never showed much interest in it, finding excuses to go and instead practice Capoeira, an African martial arts and ritual dance tradition focused on rhythmic foot work.
The family lived a relatively normal life until 5 days before Vargas 17th birthday. Once more he had sneaked out from kendo classes, leaving his 2 siblings and grandfather, Matheus Barroso, practicing in the martial arts schools yard, when 2 men invaded the property and attempted to kidnap Adelmo. The men nearly succeed, but were chased off by the grandfather, but not before they caused severe property damage to the school and mortally wounded the boy. Vargas returned to find an ambulance taking away the now lifeless body of his baby brother, while his grandfather cared for Fernanda, in shock due to the whole ordeal. Vargas was chastised for not being present to the whole event, falling into depression afterwards. He eventually came out of it changed. He became obsessed with training in both kendo and capoeira, merging the two arts into his own personal fighting style, a sword style that utilized kicks, flips and quick strikes to daze and disable his opponent, allowing for an easy death blow with his blade. He never named this martial art, preferring it remain unknown to all but himself. During all this time he had become detached from his family, dedicating all his time to his studies and training. Any attempt to bring him back to the fold was greeted with a large grin and the simple answer: “No time for fun and games. Maybe when I’m done, but for now, trust me, I’m fine”. On his 24 birthday, he vanished, taking with him a family heirloom, a masterfully crafted dai-katana, known as Kenkaze. He told his grandfather, who was ill and dying, what he planned: to find and kill the men who murdered his brother, and then go on a personal vendetta to make sure such a tragedy would never happen again to anyone, anywhere. He fell off the Radar for a year, until he reappeared in Rio de Janeiro, shaking down drug lord in the slums for information on the whereabouts of his brothers’ killers. He had grown even more skilled then when he left, being able to fight several opponents armed with firearms with only his sword and martial prowess. He soon found out what he wanted and went after the killers, a group of secret agents working for an underground organization called the B.W.A.
He managed to invade the organizations base of operations and wreck havoc upon their installation, coming face to face with the two men who had taken his baby brothers’ life, only he found them in a state he did not expect: dead, floating inside large stasis tubes, probed and tested for the last 3 years for some impossible to comprehend experiment. He was confused, shocked and enraged. He decided to go after the person in charge of the installation, finding him sitting calmly in her office. Her name was Emilia Savage, a lynx with an odd blue and neon-green fur. Vargas had made up his mind to kill her, but before he could, she calmly interrogated him, asking him why he was doing this, what he planned to do after that and, most importantly, what difference would killing her make. Vargas began to question his own actions as well, rummaging through his thoughts, piecing everything together. He decided to tell her about his plans to make the world safer. She laughed, taking him towards a computer panel on the wall of the office, revealing to him the shocking truth: the B.W.A. was EVERYWHERE. Not one country was free of their influence. Not one place was safe of their influence. “With a single whisper, we can either save or destroy the world. But not just yet. There is so much more we can work on.” Dr. Savage whispered into his ear. She explained how the B.W.A. didn’t have a clear agenda. They worked to make living weapons, but the purpose of them was not set in stone just yet. She told him how they had gone to his home with one thing in mind: searching for a rumored family bloodline predicted by the organizations magic users to hold this century’s “war god”, a unique individual with the capacity to surpass mortal limitations through skill and talent alone. “Why modify and augment when we can have the TRUE living weapon on our side.” She explained they had mistaken his brother for the one they wanted. But in truth, Vargas was the person described in the prediction. She told him how he had the potential to be great, but alone he did not have the power to accomplish anything. Vargas soon began to realize how childish his mission was. A lone avenger could never hope to accomplish what he wanted. His ideals, his wishes, his hopes, all where worthless in the face of what terrors hide in the cracks of the world. But the B.W.A… they had power. REAL power. He could make use of it. It dawned on him that sacrifices had to be made. People would die or have their lives ruined, but if it meant “fixing” the world forever, then the price was right. Dr. Savage had got what she wanted. She survived, and also gained the allegiance of a powerful individual.
Vargas soon rose in the ranks within the B.W.A., becoming one of their most high ranking officers worldwide. He even was indicated to take over the vacant seat from High Command after one of their rank was murdered by Marrek, a fennec swordsman, but he refused, saying he preferred a hands on approach to his job.
Today, Vargas commands his own headquarters alongside Dr. Emilia Savage.
ACCESSORIES

A dai-katana of unknown origin, but unbelievable craftsmanship. The blade has been tested by B.W.A. weapon experts many times and on all occasion no kind of magic or technologic enhancement has been found on the sword, but still it has been proven time and time again that the weapon is able to best enemies though immune to mundane weapons and attacks. It is theorized that either the blades full potential only reveals itself in the hands of it’s owner, Vargas, or it is simply the wielders own skill that is ungodly.

Vargas frequently wears a technological monocle that works as a personal computer and communication device.

General | Posted 12 years agoMy country has always been one of those where politicians openly abuse their power and steal from the national coffers without remorse, while the people just look on, in fear of speaking out, not knowing they have the power to actually put a stop to this madness. Well, as my fellow Brazilian 
foxt says in his very well made journal ( Link here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/...../#cid:34361802 ) We are undergoing a series of country wide protest events that have been going on for the whole week and don't seem to have an established end date.
It started as an outcry against the increase in the price of the bus fair in the State of São Paulo. This may sound as a petty reason for a protest, but trust me, it isn't, as the prices for public transport in our country have been suffering a yearly increase in prices, to the point where this new change would set us back at least 3.20 Reals (Around 1.70 dollars) a bus ride. Considering more then 2/3 of the working class use the public transport system to get to work, it is a very big deal. From there it evolved, spreading to other states with an unfair pricing on public transportation, then further evolving into a protest for the general well being of the country.
Much of this was made possible due in no small amount to internet based societies rallying and organizing the people for these protests, and I feel proud to be part of both these worlds (One of the protest group actually passed by my home and I joined in the march to some extent, until it got too far for me to go on without later having trouble getting back home. Really felt bummed out because I couldn't go all the way =( )
Anyway, just felt I should spread the word and share Foxt's awesome journal on the subject, along with my own input.
Also, to those wondering, as I have had friend ask me before: The Violent Riot incidents
Unfortunately, these are true. Almost every protest was followed by a small detachment of rioters causing serious property damage, theft and all around acts of violence. The fact is these are isolated groups of troublemakers using the protest as a mask for their ridiculous acts, and some rumors even place members of political parties as part of these groups, theoretically attempting to sabotage the protests, but those are just rumors. What IS known is that our media has done a pretty good job on differentiating the ACTUAL Activists from the rioters,showing support to the peaceful event while chastising the criminal, even somewhat terrorist actions of the rioters. Thumbs up to the Brazilian media for not going Fox News on their arses (OH YEAH! I WENT THERE! XD )

General | Posted 13 years agoSo a select few know the little fact I've moved into me mums place in another state.
Until now, I was living with my aunts in Brasilia, the capital here in Brasil (I know, it IS a lame name for a capital city >< ) while I studied for some employment exams for government jobs (which have the best pay and long term benefits in the country).
I'm still studying, but now in the warm embrace of motherly love ^^... which also comes with the Fist of Wrath of Parental control, which in my opinion is a good thing, sense I have trouble focusing on my studies some times XD.
But to the point of this Journals title: Our internet sucks =\
We share my grandmothers mobile modem around here. For most people in the house, that fine. No uses too much speed for most of their net activities....except me..... So yeah, a connection that after 5gb of data have been used for the month drops from a solid 10 mb/s to a wonky 125 kb/s is NOT good, especially when you are constantely browsing the webs for study material on brasilian civil law and administrative protocol O_O;
The good news is, we have a plan! Next week, we get a brand new, broad band connection installed in the house. But yeah, that means nother week depending on crap shiz donkey dung webs connection, but oh well.
Well, thats it folks, seeyas later ^^d
