I return.
Posted 14 years agoAfter a series of life changes; new jobs, new homes, new shoes...ahem...I return. Back to spread my own personal brand of bad taste and bad art. Run and hide or join the madness that is...THE...Dark Dug of DOOOOOOOOM! Boobs.
Con Carolinas BIsheES!!!! YAY!
Posted 14 years agoWeek and a half to go. I will be there...will you? DOOOO EEEEET!
WTH Con coolness.
Posted 14 years agoIt was awesome seeing fursuiters and others at WTH Con. Shame I couldn't socialize more, but table running apparently requires some focus. Still, glad everyone could make it.
What the Hell Con!!!!
Posted 14 years agoI'm gonna have a table there. If you are in North Carolina you should come. IT'S FREEEE! Where is it? Guilford College in Greensboro. This weekend. Feb 4, 5, 6th.
A Really long winded explanation of why I haven't been on FA
Posted 15 years agoI've been really damn busy.
Steppin out, wearin' my purple.
Posted 15 years agoSupporting those of the GLBT society that took their lives because of the torture. Supporting those that are alive and having a hard time dealing with no one understanding. Supporting through the heartache and heartbreak. Supporting the families and those that love even though the one they love doesn't fit the norm. Supporting all that wish society would shut the f*ck up and let them live the life they want to live.

Finally a job...a reeeeal job.
Posted 15 years agoHuzzah. I got a call back from a local drug store, they want to hire me. Plus, because of my medical knowledge they want to cross train me as a pharmacy assistant. Joy. Soon, mad coyotes will be in your pharmacy, dispensing your pills. Muahahahahahaha!
Woah, glad I am an "artist".
Posted 15 years agoI been watching some of those lovely jewels of humanity we call furry artists...I must say if I had the money to buy commissions I would keep it. I understand why no one buys anything off me. How can you know who to trust. How do you know you won't pay me a fitty and wait six months and then get back an image of me taking a dump on my scanner. I been doing free pics here lately, I love the experience. I try and get em back in no more than a week. It just seems right to me, and I do my best. Anyway...I think it makes me a bit mad when others ruin the relation between customer and client. But hell, maybe that is what has happened to the whole damn consumer economy...I mean it is kinda in the shit tubes isn't it. Anyway...I'm gonna go back to studying my vet tech stuff and stop ranting.
Drama drama drama. Heehee
Posted 15 years agoEver realize you are watching someone just to giggle at them and their ridiculous drama.
I won't name names because I am a gentleman of a mad coyote...but I'm just saying.
...and no it isn't anyone who is watching me back, so you don't have to worry my lovely fans.

Is it art?
Posted 15 years agoI've been seeing a lot lately, especially involving a recent semi-scandalous meme, that makes it seem that there is a war going on here between art and entertainment. What I want to know, is why can't they coexist? I believe in making a statement with your creations, making a stand, and saying something. I think that it is great that there are those trying to promote natural ideals of beauty. I support that. But on the other hand, is there not room for fantasy. Does every creation have to be super cerebral and realistic. I love the hyper real and the stylized as much as I appreciate the real. I guess that speaks to the conundrum that is me. See, as much as I appreciate going out and watching big dumb movies like The Expendables or Predators I also enjoy and appreciate art house, foreign, documentaries, and indy films. I think it is the same thing. There is no reasons as a whole we can't appreciate both. I'd like my art to reflect that. I don't want to be stuck doing pr0n any more than I want my every work to be an abstract work of meaning and depth. Anyway...my two cents. You can ignore me now.
Is the attitude really necessary?
Posted 15 years agoI haven't been sharing my art for long on FA (A few months really). Well, in that time I have seen some particularly nasty sentiments from my fellow artists. So, like 95% of furs on this site I feel the need. The neeeeeed to rant!
First off, I don't like the ugly opinions we have towards our fellow artists. All I read is "oh they suck, they are un-original, they aren't a real artist like meeeeeee!" Don't worry about other artists. The only artist I have felt the need to compete with is ME. Improve yourself, it isn't a contest. Be less competitive and your art might grow because you are improving on your own talents, not others.
Next, I think treating your fans and those that can't art like dumb cattle sucks. If doing requests or commissions I would never treat them like they don't know their own character. Every character means something. Even if they might not seem the most original or inspired critters to me that doesn't mean the characters aren't special to the owners. Be nice to your fans and you might find you have nice fans.
The last thing that confuses me to know end is, why create art for furries if you hate furries. Yes there are bad furries, but that is because we are all human, not some special race just because we happen to like furry critters. Being human we are all subject to humanity's special flaws.
Anyway...enough dumb rants from me. See ya.

Posted 15 years agoThe contest has been a big success. Thanks to everyone for entering, watching, and/or fave-ing. Yes, in case you were wondering, I do like attention (don't most artists).
Anyway...
*drumrolls* The winner of my latest black hat drawing are:

Congratulations for those that won. Thanks again everyone. More art to come.

Free arts drawing (closed)
Posted 15 years agoHi all. Doing another free art drawing. This time I have a few rules. Don't worry, its nothing too bad and stuff I see done all the time. First off, write a journal response linking back to this. Secondly respond to this journal with the link to your journal, a reference if you have it, and what you would like to see. I will randomly out of a wondrous black hat choose three winners to get a full color art work for free and stuff. Have fun and best of luck.
*edit* P.S. Drawing will happen at 8 pm EST on Tuesday 9/7/2010.

Posted 15 years agoReally, Isn't the fact that one has made the transition from driving ambulances to slinging french fries bad enough? Isn't the drop in income from one pathetic sum to an even lower pathetic sum enough to make one want to bite the heads off of Japanese schoolgirls. So why must I now deal with an employer who changes the whole DAMN schedule the weekend before the new one starts (a weekend I was off by the by)?
Why? Why do I bother working when it is just one frustration after the next and I still can't afford the bills? I have dropped to bare minimum internet, I'm on food stamps, I haven't run the AC in weeks (even in 90 degree heat waves of doom). My poor wife isn't much better off. She is creative, smart, college educated and still working in a restaurant to pay off two school loans.
I'd say screw it, I'll live off my artistic talents, but um....that is not happening. Not with two 20 dollar commissions a month (thank you very much guys who have thought I was worth paying).
Somehow....deep inside I feel it is all my fault. I went wrong somewhere. I just...need to fix it, I don't think I know how, though.

Darn you Scott Pilgrim and Canada
Posted 15 years agoWent to see it with my brother and wife today. Great movie. I think it does and excellent job of capturing the comic and being a very good and funny movie (especially if you are a 30 something gamer geek like myself). But, suddenly I find myself listening to Canadian indie music. I've decided Canada is the land of awesomeness. Of course dealing with Southern American heat and the break down of my air conditioner makes it seem all the more wondrous.
Eew...my computer has herpes.
Posted 15 years ago...or something just as disgusting. Yay. Spent the day wiping my computer to get rid of a pretty nasty virus I picked up. Darn you addiction to porn and free software. I think I have it all cleared up now. I need to get me some better AV programs. Luckily I am obsessive about backing up all art works, so I never lose my hard work. Glad I don't have much better to do these days...other than of course hunting for jobs and getting every government assistance I can get my little paws on while I am unenjoyed. Gonna hit up the ole temp agencies and ESC again tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Second Life, here I come. Muahahaa
Posted 15 years agoI'm probably a bit to old for it, (i was furry back in the height of furryMUCK, when it was all text(I'm sure FM is still around...right)). But I figured this ole coyote might as well give it a try. I'll probably get lost. At least I found myself some fur so I don't look like a default hooman wandering around. I got no frills or bells (I can't afford em) but I'm there. Just look for a redish/ tanish wolf thing walking into walls and talking to inanimate objects (so Second Life is alot like my real life). I'm Dugan Scientist. Weird last name...but eh...it works. See ya.
Signing off, coyote of the dark.

Aaaaaugh vermin!
Posted 15 years agoI am the proud owner of a miniature schnauzer. He is a loveable little scamp by the name of Han Solo (from the right angle he looks a bit like Harrison Ford...or maybe a bearded Sean Connery...anyway). But the poor dear, when I take him out in this damnably hot Southern american weather (melts) he comes back to our apartment bearing vermin, fleas and most recently ticks. Unfortunately said ticks do not stay on him. No, apparently Han is just a convenient vessel so they can come right to the main course...coyote. *screams* So I am all about preserving the balance of nature....but come on great mother, what purpose do the nasty little parasites serve, other than giving me itchies and nightmares. So I feel I have two options. One: devise a way to rid the world of the horrible little critters (maybe a reversal of global warming...yeah a new ice age that'd be great). Two: I can exercise Han via treadmill and just hang him from the balcony to do his business (bombs away). Or maybe I'll just suck it up, keep up his regular baths and have my lovely wife delouse me occasionally like a pair of big chimps (although she says she will definitely not eat the pests...nor can I blame her.)

What a twist!
Posted 15 years agoThe twist at the end of M. Night Shyamalan's version of the Last Airbender is that he is really George Lucas in disguise, destroying a fine series with a hammy, overly effects ridden, and joyless movie.
I love you Avatar...and shall remember you as the joy filled little animated boy from Nick.

Yay...still no job.
Posted 15 years agoAs some may have noticed I have increased my art production. this is due to the fact that I still have no job. While making surviving remarkably tight, it does mean I have plenty of time for arts. Yay. Lets just hope I can keep the lights on. I was kind of in a funk when I first got fired, so did little more than sit on my butt and sulk. But I have cheered a little, despite my lack of money. Lets just say if anyone is interested in commissioning me for awesome arts I am more than willing. Thanks.
