~Terms Of Service~
By commissioning me, you agree to my service's rules. I have the right to refuse anybody's request on any grounds. When you are commissioning me, do not leave out any details. I will only redo something so many times. I have the right to refuse any redo on any grounds I see fit. I have the right to refuse refunds, and even only refund a portion of the payment. Dissatisfied customers may vent their frustration, and if possible, we can work something out - but I will not do refunds for already finished works. After the sketch phase, I will not refund the commission (This also applies to the first page of any comic commission - be extra sure you want this before commissioning it.). Commissions are confidential only if the person getting the commission specifically asks. By sending me your payment, you are officially agreeing that you have commissioned me. I will only accept payment up-front. Do not harass me for any reason what-so-ever. You may remind me, if you feel the need to - but I won't accept rude customers. Prices may change, in which case, any already accepted commissions are still valid. Once the commissioner has seen the full product, this commission is now considered finished. Any dishonesty, attempt at scamming, or otherwise, will be held against you. Commission Slots/Availability.

A little advice for artists.
General | Posted 12 years agoOkay, so I'm not so great myself... but I can try to pass on what I do know.
I see a lot of artists on here with a passion to make great work or works that mean something to them. And it's fine that way... but if you don't portray it properly on some sort of canvas, you might not get people to feel the same vibes.
There is also just a lot of porn... which I guess is fine. But generally... there seems to be no imagination to it. So I'll give advice on this.
-Characters are almost always sexier when you get to know them. In other words, have a story or some dialogue occasionally. Give them a personality, or a reason, or passion.
-Also... some would disagree with me... but make some characters contreversial. You want people saying that their motives are wrong. Not everything in life is pretty in a stereotypical sense. You want to stir things up occasionally.
-Experiment with a person's body build or features. If you make every character meet all of your standards of appeal, it is usually harmful to you on the basis of everything will start to look like crap to you. Don't spoil yourself.
-Patience is a virtue. I can't stress this enough to people. If you take only 5 minutes to make a piece... chances are it won't be that good. A good piece... (For me anyways) usually takes around a few hours to do. This is different for professional artists, who, would probably not even need this guide anyways.
-Relax. Unless you derive your motives from pressure, or general negative emotions (Which, I can't see how people do.) then it might make you antsy about drawing anyways. This goes hand in hand with impatiences, and trying to get it over with. If you're not enjoying it... you probably shouldn't be doing it.
-Study anatomy. This is one of the best things you could do. I know it's kind of... out of the way so to speak, but if you're not very good anatomy wise, then it will get you far.
-Just trace. That's right... trace people's artwork. Don't trace, upload and claim as yours though. That's a big no no. Trace very very closely... and study it when you're off computer. You can study how and why an artist makes certain curves or lines without the distraction of color.
-Diversity is key. there is nothing more disappointing than seeing the same thing over and over again... especially in the sense of having the same piece, but recolored. Even if two characters are of the same species, or you're making adoptable... diversity goes a long ways in interesting people.
-Just make it sexy. Sometimes, you don't need porn. Sometimes, just make it sexy. That's all you need... is to make it sexy. Nudity is great. Non-nudity is good too, if not better. Imagination is good. Leave some thought to imagination. Did you know that back in the old days, magazines of swimsuit models were considered almost like porn? Know why? Because they weren't spoiled silly with porn. It's like the "You can look, but you can't touch." factor. It's like forbidden fruit.
-You might enjoy a particular kink a lot... but try to avoid doing it excessively. Try new things... expand your audience. Not everybody is going to be into the same thing. And people like to see a character they know, doing other things too.
-Your art style draws them in. Your character's personalities, or diversity makes them stay. Remember that. people's first views are generally shallow ones. This doesn't mean they're shallow people... it just means you have to feed them eye candy for them to realize there are more sweets to it. This means, you could have the best dialogue... best stories, and best characters ever... but if you don't draw them good, it will be for nothing (This is true in most, but not in all cases).
That is my advice on making your art appealing. I do have some advice on making good art though. I'll give some pointers as to what I do.
I don't really know how to express this... so anybody who is interested can try noting me, and I can help them draw to the best of my ability.
