Heat Wave & Art Update
Posted 14 years agoNot to drag away from the prior journal entry, there is only so much I can do at the moment, and it is way too damn hot for me to even want to move from where I'm sitting, but I just need to post something else that doesn't come off sounding like I'm whining and exaggerating things. Also... New York is having a heat wave right now. No AC either... so fans are friends.
Urgle flurgle. I've got to get to drawing again. My desktop is still in pieces in a box, chair in the smelly shed, desk downstairs, and no where to put it, I'm not going to be really doing anything digital for awhile. I know where my traditional supplies are, as well as my webcam, so I can try and get some random sketches up to show off at least.
I mostly do sketches traditionally. I just say this because I'm aware of art trades, adoptables, and a comic commission that I owe. I may try and dig up some of the free requests from prior journal/submissions and manage some of those as sketches.
On the topic of sketches, I'd be happy to offer a pay-what-you-want sketches. Just leave a comment if interested or if there are any questions. I will be checking back FA every so often so I can try and be quick to respond.
Urk. 100 is way too hot.

[Important/Help] Cat Problems - Might loose Cocoa
Posted 14 years agoSo I was just told by my Dad and Cheryl that Cocoa is becoming a problem. Apparently Cocoa smells, a fact which escapes me since I'm used to her and they are not. A second problem is that because she is upstairs and that is where those two sleep. There is their bedroom and a side bedroom for toys and things. Along with the flooring being carpet, the banister is wooden.
Taking that in mind, I was told she was tearing everything up. Apparently destroying their furniture among the banister and floor. Back at my old home, Cocoa never did any of those things. Taking in mind that fact, she was in inside/outside cat, my lack of furniture, and tile flooring, she didn't have much to go after anyway. However: Cocoa did use a wooden post that was out on the back porch for a scratching post.
I can see why she would be using the banister. It is wood like what she was used to using as a scratching post. Unfortunately this is very bad now because she is going back to the banister.
I can't use a nail trimmer with her because I would be too nervous that I'd hurt her. There is the option of getting her declawed, but I can't afford that and it would feel really cruel to do that do her. She would never be an outside cat again, which she may want to do, but I'm really not sure that'd be a good idea for her.
I really need some advice for what to do about these problems with Cocoa. If I can't get these problems with her solved, I'm really worried and afraid that I'll have to do the one thing I do not want to do: give up Cocoa.
Anyone have some suggestions, ideas, or otherwise to solve this dilemma so I can keep the cat?
And, if possible, ideas of how to get a 10 month old male boxer to get along with the cat? Mostly so she can move around the house more and not get chased back upstairs by the dog thinking she is a toy?
Greatly appreciated for any help you guys can give.

Internet Nirvana

Picked this off of a post on Facebook in the CMC group.
"First, the internet was inhabited by cats with speech impediments.
Then, it was inhabited by trolls and spammers.
Now, it is inhabited by ponies who promote love and friendship.
Fillies and Gentlecolts, I believe we have reached Internet Nirvana."
Want me to ink/color in something of yours?
Posted 14 years agoSimple journal for something new as well as a bump the last off.
What do you guys think about me taking commissions for just inking and coloring? By this I mean, for example, if you had a sketch/inked commission by another artist, or if you yourself sketched/inked something and would like to see it done with black/colored lines or see it in color, I'd happily do it.
Sometimes the inking/coloring stage can be just as fun or more so than working on the actual sketch.
Would anyone be interested in getting something like that from me?
I have no set price in mind, so its all up to you. Pay me what you think is good or we can chat about it.
Do leave a comment with your opinion or if your interested.
I don't bite.

Pointless Journal: Dreams, Mall, & Music Video
Posted 14 years agoDreamsI don't normally post my dreams on FA, but this one was weird and interesting enough to tell. Its unfortunate I don't remember the beginning of it, but I do remember that I was in a house and I had to deal with, what I could only think of as Future Predator/Licker beasts. They were quite adorable even if they had a nasty habit of trying to bite.
I went along and eventually befriended one of them. Which was one of the best and cutest of things. Over the span of what felt like a night, the baby grew up into an adult. A few others were around were not as pleasant as mine. Even he though tried to attack/play with a barely remembered family member.
Eventually things turned and I was given an, apparent, school assignment to watch the Alien movies, another movie, and the latest fourth movie of the Aliens saga. After meeting up with a friend and some person I don't remember, we headed off.
Starting to get tricky to remember since my Dad woke me with a phone call.
I ended up half viewing things though my eyes and a camera lens as things were being filmed. As well as a video that had to be a parody of itself. Eventually I moved on into a truck, left it, then went into another truck that I could see into the water. Submarine apparently.
Next thing I know, despite the fact I think I was sitting next to
genesisw on the submarine, was the on/off watching and chatting of the movies we were going to watch.I may of woken up at one point because the scene changed to consist of... a mall perhaps or some open place. There was a large/small dollhouse, my step-sister[?], and Transformers. Not sure how things got to the point, but we ended up being chased around said dollhouse. I, or the magical door, started jumping around to replace doors and windows to let my sister, and oddly enough a pug, inside. I managed eventually before fleeing off.
Stupid dog apparently followed, but disappeared. So I ended up with a new Transformer, whose name I forget. I spent time running around his almost spherical place while he tried to keep me safe. While I, I swear, was doing laundry, he was at the screen and paled seeing a version of Wreck-Gar.
Wreck-Gar ran past me to see the Transformer as he commented about me being missed. Wreck-Gar laughed and said he didn't, before going back and grabbing me/some girl that used to be me.
The Transformer panicked and ran around looking for her while I, I think, found a script. I found the Transformer panicking at the main screen. I told him to look at it, not before getting a flash of him very happy, before he turned the screen on and we saw what was scripted. The girl and Wreck-Gar talking. Wreck-Gar taunting her about the loss of a boyfriend, which she mock cried about then mentioned her real boyfriend, or guy she liked, would save her. This caused the Transformer to be happy and...
I got a phone call from my Dad waking me up. Um... what just happened?
I blame

Going to the Carnival Mall today. Apparently there's a train in it.

Syracuse, New York
Posted 14 years agoI am here at last and oh boy do I have a tale to tell of how I got here. Just not right now as I've got 1800+ journals to peer through as I don't want to nuke them. Might nuke the 63610+ submissions though.
Very short journal as I've still got other stuff to do like find a job, install stuff onto this laptop, and give my dad $350 for the $500+ laptop that I'm using to make it mine.
And as a last note for now... I miss my friends!

[Important] Moving Day + Information
Posted 14 years ago6/28/10 is my moving day, which means that I'll be absent from the internet for a week. Hopefully no longer than that. I say this because during that time, chances are I'm not going to be doing anything productive like drawing or beating "Half-Life 2". It counts...
Lets see how I survive without internet! Ooooh, scary!
Maybe I'll have interesting tales to tell. Besides ones about me freaking the hell out and being paranoid over thinking moving is a bad idea. Among other things with my paranoia that are going to drive me to the brink of insanity until I just chill out.
Ah ha... That wont happen.
Erm, so, yeah. I'll be back as soon as I can because I'm probably going to need counseling...

Achievement Ding
Posted 14 years agoNot really. I lied.
Just needed to boot the last journal off the page since Cocoa looks like she's acting like herself. Eating and actually coming into the house. I've got a bunch of boxes packed, plus I do talk to her and I was a bundle of nerves a few hours before I took notice of her actions/in-action. A check-up still is a good idea, but it probably wont happen. Unfortunately for reasons kind of out of my control...
I need cheering up. Maybe some "Gremlins" then "Half Life 2" since all this worrying is tensing me up.
And... maybe partial title truth. I love achievements. Even silly ones to the more difficult ones. Damn headcrab zombies...

[HELP] Something is wrong with my cat...
Posted 14 years agoI mean, very wrong and it really worries me. Cocoa is usually so sociable. Even when she is just lounging around, she'll stare at me. I usually see her darting about or sleeping. Maybe chasing a lizard. Right now though... she isn't herself. Not in the slightest.
I left her alone to head to my bedroom for a moment and she was sitting in the same spot. Not unusual. Went to pet her, she wandered away. Fair enough. She nearly yowled when I tried to pick her up. That isn't normal. So I sat down worried, asking what was wrong; I always talk to her. She wouldn't even look at me.
I was worried she was hurt, so I gently moved my hand around her. Nothing seemed wrong. So I carefully got her to lay down on her side to check. I got low "warning" sounds. Cat owners would know it. I was just running my hand along her body looking for any wounds and kept getting that sound. Even when I gently pet her, she refused to look at me. So when I stopped, she got up and went to sit under a box.
I got up and went to type this. She barely looked at me then walked outside. I could just be paranoid, but this does not happen with Cocoa. She will rarely yowl at me. So I'm worried a tom might of hurt her or some kid, but I can't see anything wrong. It's just her personality is beyond wrong.
Any cat owners have any idea? Am I just being paranoid? Could my worry be rightly placed? Any advice will help. I'm really, really, really, worried about her...
EDIT 01 It's nearly 4am my time and I'm heading to bed. Update on Cocoa... Seems even worse. At the moment she is sitting down in a corner of the house, ignoring me completely. I hope someone has some idea of what's wrong and/or that she's improved by tomorrow. Otherwise... I'll have to see about getting her to the vet. I really hope she improves...
EDIT 02 Cocoa seems better this morning. I got to pick her up and she wasn't completely ignoring me. No purring when I pet her, okay... Fed her, but didn't really get a meow. Kind of odd. Mom, through Jack, believes it could of just been a hairball and I could just be worrying too much. Mom is doing a little research of her own. Hopefully she gets a better idea and that Cocoa is fine. Otherwise as I've been thinking, and was pretty much seconded by Sniper, a vet visit is good. I do not want something minor to become serious when I'm moving. I really don't need that stress...

Moving to New York - Second Thoughts and Ramblings
Posted 14 years agoJust got home a little while ago, Burger King in hand, and I'm staring at the boxes that my Mom and I packed for my move to New York. The longer I stare at them, think about this place I live, and my Mother, the more I'm having second thoughts on moving from here.
I really do like this town. I have lived here for most of my life. I know the area; just don't ask me for directions as I don't know roads as well as I do locations. I've finally come to learn, mostly, the bus route that runs from near where I live to the mall. So it isn't like I'm really stuck in this place without anywhere to go if I needed to get out. Albeit I still can't drive...
I feel like I'm rambling. Just how my brain works to get to the point.
But, yeah, I like this little complex/apartment I live in. Got a nice open living room that leads into a dining area. That leads into an open kitchen. Opposing that is a L-shaped hall with a bathroom at the end and a bedroom. The master's bedroom is nice and big with it's own bathroom and decent walk-in closet. Not to mention three sliding glass doors that lead to the porch and little backyard. It really is quite a nice place for $1000 a month.
I really like this place. I honestly would rather stay here, but I'm still having trouble find a bloody job so I could stay here and at least pay half of what my Mother does. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck in finding a job. I really have tried. Not going to whine about it though. Whining is not going to get me anywhere and nor would it be productive.
Still. Frak.
Pros and cons of moving.
Pros: Wont be alone. Living with Dad. Possible work opportunity. Less pressure on Mom. Basement room. New area.
Cons: Wont be alone. Living with Dad. Possible no work opportunity. Possible stress on Mom. Basement room over a full home. New area. Mom paying for truck, gas, hotel, and basement renovation. New people I'm suddenly living with.
Some the same and some different.
Less than a week and the full force of my moving is creeping over me more and more so I'm going to let a minor whine out: I don't wanna move but I need a job!
Whine over before I turn into into a pity-me thing since it shouldn't be that at all. I'm taken care of. I've got a home. I've got food. I've got a phone and internet. I've got it made, as has been put by my Mother.
Am I happy? Mostly. Still like to have a job and friends in real life to hang out with. Much as I do love my friends that I speak with on a daily basis and those I've been horrible neglecting...
Frak.
I should try drawing or playing "Half-Life 2" and get out of this funk I put myself into. I do have a comic commission to finish; damn the dragon for not wanting to be drawn; as well as trades, adoptables, and old requests... Damn... I can be so horrible at finishing things within a certain time frame.
I'll be around, maybe, to check back on FA.

Real Life Tales: Mormons
Posted 14 years agoFirst off, I was raised, loosely, Christian. I went to church when I was young, but never stayed inside to listen. I had more fun in the open courtyard. I do believe I was baptized. I, like a ton of other people, do celebrate Christmas. Dude. Free gifts.
Anyway, I haven't been to church in years. The last time I went I had a boyfriend and it was more of a youth group thing in the evening anyway.
I'm currently agnostic. Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnosticism
With all of that said, I am open and curious about other faiths and religions. I prefer to stay open and not jump to any conclusion about a religion. Despite getting bits and pieces through the internet over the beliefs people have. Long as it isn't pushed on me, I'll let them think what they do.
I have friends who are atheists, Buddhists, Christians, and possibly with other beliefs. I don't always ask. That said, I accept their ways of how they believe and work.
Bringing it back to the topic at hand, I had met a pair of Mormons the other day while I was heading home from the mall. As said, I'm open and curious to see if there is a religion for me. So I told them to stop by at a later point to talk. Which they did and so I got to learn a bit about the religion. Nothing big. So after the conversation, they had asked to stop by again and I said yes.
Skipping ahead a day or so, the two stopped by with another guy. Got shown a DVD and learned more about the beginning and more about them in general. Even got invited to visit the church this Sunday. I was still open and curious enough. Up until I asked a question.
"What's your opinion on gays??
Note, I was nervous about asking, which had me feeling... If you hate public speaking, you'll know that almost knotted feeling I had then.
The guys were nice as they explained their view, the church's view, on gays. It is pretty much the same that goes with Christan's really. Not something they believe in and it really can be viewed as wrong or improper.
Since they do believe in the no sex before marriage. It should be kept between a man and a woman. In the words, not exact, this is because this matrimony created a new "spirit" for the child. While this is good and all, there is still more to it.
The more I listened, the more ill I felt until I was feeling physically sick and had a headache. I could see some points, but the majority was just not right in my opinion. I am grateful they were nice and open with me. Telling me how they felt without pushing anything on me.
Still... The one thing that sealed my opinion that I could never be a Mormon was the last thing I was told on the topic before they departed. Mind you, I brought this up because one of my closest friends is gay and I only wish him the best of happiness. Which makes what they said twist my heart the wrong way.
"He'd be happier not to act on it."
Not to act on it. Yeah. In other words, how it felt to me, it was pretty much advice to hide who you are. Live a lie and you'll be a lot happier with someone of the opposite gender instead of finding someone of the same gender to love. It is not something I can believe in or follow. Certainly not with religion or believe in a God with that kind of teachings. Even if these teachings come from a human.
So, yeah. Just an event of my life.
I do feel a bit ironic and pity. One of the guys was kind of cute and his name was the same as my friend. Oh well. This might come off as taking back my words, but I couldn't be friends with someone who couldn't accept my closest friend whom just happens to be gay.
All I've got to say on that. Need an ibuprofen now. Just thinking about the event gave me a headache.
As a final note, I'm still open to religion. I just found another one that isn't for me. And if you happen to be a Mormon and read this, well, it's just something that happened to me. You can continue believing what you believe. Just, and this goes to any religion, don't push it on me and we'll get along fine.

Posted 14 years agoI mean seriously. I know the whole structure can be broken down into a skeleton and the basic shapes like anything else. Possibly just use the same tactics for anthros, with some changes of course... but why are they so annoying to draw?
Hands... faces... yargle. Even though I've seen tutorials and have drawing books on humans, I still don't seem to get it. I've seriously got to stop avoiding drawing them and work on it. Could help with other humanoids like anthros, Locusts, and other such.
I'm stubborn. I really should pick up my books and try it. I do have a new character that I can't draw because he's human. I think. I'll still say bah.
Anyone know any good tutorials online while I'm off digging through packed boxes?
*Pokes at the boxes* They're going to be at the bottom of something. I just know it...

100 Animal Art Challenge
Posted 14 years agoI originally had this posted... damn... three-four years ago. Completely forgot about this. Decided to finally update it since I have, whether on purpose or not, drawn some of these listed animals quite recently. So why not bring this thing back into the light and give it a little more loving?
I could certainly use the boost.
Plus, hey, if your character happens to be one of the species, give me a reference to them. Everyone loves free stuff.
So without further waiting... here's all the information on it. Copy/Pasted from a long forgotten original source:
"There have been a lot of various art challenges going around, but I thought it might be a fun idea to start one that may inject some creativity and new interest into the furry/anthro art community. Far too often, we see the community saturated with wolves, foxes, big cats, rabbits, and occasionally an equine. It's time for some variety! So I thought it would be an interesting challenge to not just push myself personally, but to see if the rest of the community would like to do the same. Therefore, I've created this list of animals that have seen not nearly enough love in the fandom. While some of these may be canines, felines, etc., I tried to pick a few that are relatively unseen in the furry community.
"Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Draw each and every one of the animals on this list. There is no time limit. It doesn't have to be in order, it doesn't even have to be anthro/humanoid. It doesn't even really have to be fully colored, it can be a pencil sketch if you'd prefer. Just give them a try. Not only will you push yourself in the process, you will learn about more of the amazing and exciting animals this world has to offer! Feel free to post this in your journal or webpage to show your progress, share it with friends, or simply use for inspiration. Some of these WILL be difficult, but you can do it! I tried not to make any of these so obscure that they wouldn't have much information or pictures of them. Some of these are also extinct, but all of them have artistic interpretations and pictures of their skeletons available on the internet or in books."

What species do you see me as?
Posted 14 years ago
Yeah there was some kind of "I'm so-so, but what do you see me as" meme going around.
Call it a late jump on the bandwagon, but I'm curious.
What species, be it real or mythical, do you visualize me as?
