Twitter users (apologies to everyone who, quite understandably, doesn't use the platform) have known that I received a Samsung Tab for the holidays. My biggest impediment to doing ANYTHING these last few years, as you might've noticed, has been my lack of free time as a parent. (Followed closely by an emerging, rather extreme anxiety disorder! Turns out that ol' depression was more complex than even I realized!) Now, with Bear up in years and attending the playground, I have some drawing time but prior to this, I couldn't produce art as I only had my desktop. Strangely, the county wasn't supportive of my efforts to pull my PC out in a red wagon and run 300 feet of extension cord to my three monitors and tower!

Well now I have the Galaxy Tab and it has been *marvelous*. I'm still acclimating to it somewhat (I find inking easier on desktop with how I work) but it's handled exceedingly large files, runs Clip Studio, and manages cloud saves between both platforms. Sketching and coloring my works is pretty easy on it, so I'm finally able to draw again!

To answer an obvious question: I will not be taking commissions at the current time. A number of you lovely people ordered commissions before my last breakdown and I won't take on any business before those are finished. All your notes still exist. It will be done. ♥

Hello all, I just wanted to toss out an update here since I have over 6000 followers on FA vs. a few hundred on Twitter and Discord. As I've detailed on those platforms, our cat is dying. That is, in about 12 hours we're having to put her down. A senior cat, she's by no means of the age we're accustomed to seeing indoor kitties departing at. Sadly, kidney cancer cares nothing about age.

This was our first cat, adopted after less than a year living together. An age ago, multiple jobs ago, an entire house ago, a few cars, another cat, a marriage, a baby. She's remained. And now she won't. It's been a very rough time lately, early treatment giving us the sense we were turning her health around- and each successive round of treatment only revealing worse and worse until she's coming rapidly undone lately.

So it's come to this. We just lost a human family member very recently, and now a furry one's leaving too. It's been devastating. I apologize about a lack of updates (and I know, you lovelies always insist that it's okay- but I prefer to keep you in the loop as best I can) and just wanted to let everyone know. If you'd like to keep up with my person goings-on either through Twitter (most active) or Discord, feel free to use the above links. I may be quiet for a little while. There's been a lot of tears already, and it's about to get a lot worse.

Hello friends! I'm sorry you see me so little around these parts!
As you know, I've taken on the mantle of motherhood and somehow haven't screwed that up so Bear is about a year old now! We're celebrating that birthday soon! ♥ (A reminder that my Twitter is full of little life updates like this if that's your speed! I also have one for Dr. Faust linked on that same profile. :)

Obviously that's part of what keeps me busy- don't think I've forgotten about our experiments on that snake! I still have the progress on the next picture in the series! ♥

Unfortunately, what's led to it being so long for completion is that I've been unable to work due to unimaginable back pack. Pain that was much worse if I used my computer chair (which is how and where I draw!) I've been dealing with this since, gosh, before Christmas? It was rough back then, but it's gotten worse and worse with time. That slow sort of build, and I'd blamed it on so many other things. Lifting the baby (which doesn't help!), doing this or that... But it was the mattress! After a decade, it's given up the ghost. I've rotated it, filled in with blankets under me, done everything possible- but sleep in it results in me being barely able to move the next day. Strong pain meds and muscle relaxers can only do so much!

So I've been banished to the couch for some while, and a few weeks back, using the bed resulted in a morning so bad I was taken in spasms to urgent care. After mentioning that on Twitter, the generous Thornedog came forward with a wonderful offer. Since I'm too incapacitated to actually work on anything, she's running a fundraiser on my behalf! We're trying to replace my mattress so I can go about life without pain again and get back to work! It's been a catch-22. Unable to afford the mattress because I've been unable to work. Unable to work because I can't afford the mattress. Here's hoping we fix that!

Hey everyone! Just a heads up that, despite a lull in the uploads, I'm quite alive and well! Those intrepid few who follow my Twitter are already aware as it's a loooot easier for me to make a short tweet or two- but yes we've had quite a big life development here. You might recall from this little doodle some time ago that we were expecting, and now several weeks ago, things have come to pass! So don't go worrying about mother badger, I'm still around and all and REALLY looking forward to finding TWO SECONDS to draw and catch up and be with you all again! ...in the time since I started typing this, I've had to put a very upset baby back into my arms and type around them.

I'm alive!
There were some times where I nearly wasn't.
But now I am.

Okay so, it's been a LONG time and I feel horrible about that. This is quite hard to write, even though I'm trying to bring hopeful news here, because of my constant self-doubt and critical nature making me wonder about each sentence I write and how it'll be interpreted. I'll try to highlight the big points so it's easier to skim. I've been away for over a year and it warrants explanation and apology. From the bottom of my heart, I'm truly sorry for being silent for so long. It was never my intent- and when my broken mind began to realize how truly long it had been I was further consumed by self-doubt and abuse for letting everyone down.

Okay so what happened to me?
As you can see from my journal of a year ago, it began with physical health issues. My medication was changed, because my old one can apparently cause kidney failure, and the new one fucked me up for a while. Aside from my blood pressure and heart palpitations being unpredictable, it caused horrible abdominal pain and I was unable to sit upright for... a length of time that I can frankly no longer remember. Had a few other, potentially more severe, health scares during this time as well and it had me all really bothered. I was hitting one of life's big birthdays, and people in my family don't live so long. Wasn't sleeping, found no joy in things I loved, couldn't find creativity, broke down in tears at the smallest setbacks, had panic attacks when trying to do my normal, enjoyed activities (such as cooking). Does any of that sound familiar to anyone?

Yeah, my health concerns spiraled to include a crushing depression and eventual mental breakdown.
It was a long time before I even realized where I was, mentally. Days, weeks, months blended together- all a stream I honestly can't pick details out of. A blur of "I'll be better tomorrow..." that never came. I was ashamed of this, and I'm still embarrassed, but it warrants mention because maybe somebody else is feeling it too. I cannot stress this enough- There's nothing wrong with seeking help. I've always been a do-it-myself person, and dealt with depressive episodes for about 20 years now, but this time I couldn't pull myself out of it. I held everything in. I withdrew from conversation. I submerged in video games, the one place where I felt I had control- and even there I wasn't happy.

One day, a couple months back, my wife came home from work and I was really frazzled. Dinner wasn't going right, and I was cracking. I've... long been in the role, with friends, loved ones, everyone- of listening to problems and not talking about mine. I tried to smile for her and it wasn't working. She finally noticed and said the words that did it- "Fuck my problems, tell me about YOUR problems. What's wrong?" ...and I lost it. I just spilled everything out... and that's probably the first time in nearly a year I'd felt something resembling alive. So if you're afraid to tell someone about your problems- talk to a therapist/counselor/psychiatrist/etc. For US residents, the Department of Health and Human Services has some helpful numbers here- https://www.mentalhealth.gov/get-he.....mmediate-help/

From there, I started fighting upwards. Some days are better than others, but at least I can remember some of them now. My wife gave me paints for Christmas. I haven't painted in a decade, and it's not illustrative but expressive. It's what I feel- and that's helped a lot. Maybe I'll post some of them another time. Maybe- they're pretty personal, as you might imagine.

Yeah, well what about the art?
I've managed to do some during this time period, though it's very little considering my old pace. However, I'm feeling more like I actually *can* draw these days. I have means (the painting, for instance) to try and stir my creativity again, and that feels so good, I cannot even explain. I have a piece of myself back. A core piece, one that I valued so very much. It's dusty, cracked, and dulled- but I'm repairing it, and I feel victorious that I'm fighting back against the monster that's had control over my mind (never mind how normally sexy I would find it to be controlled by a monster...). I'll be posting some of the doodles from this dead period, and even some owed commissions.

My priority is to complete my owed works, including the "Expedition" series.
You lovely people donated and the work WILL be delivered as promised. I apologize for what's happened and thank you for your incredible patience. My Patreon has long suffered too, and I'll be addressing what to do with that as well. Just gotta keep working through things one by one.

I am not taking new commissions at this time.

It's like building back up to walk again after being in casts for a long time. My pace is nowhere near what it used to be. However, I DO want to bring the streams back, get engaged with my followers again. Maybe I'll stream a game or two even, who knows. A while back, one of you tweeted at me and I responded... and the handful that replied to that, encouraging me... I don't deserve the kindness you give. Thank you all so much.

It bears repeating- Thank you all. Looking back, you were all spectacular to me and deserved better than my silence.

Fallout 4 aside- and don't get me wrong, it's great, I've been off my game lately. I'm sorry that I've been hard to reach. Mostly, I've been on a new blood pressure medication for about a week(?) or so and things have been... different. I wanted to start a stream after lunch today, for instance. Thennnn my heart was beating out of my chest. For no apparent reason. I may have to have the doctor adjust my medication.

I mention this not to alarm anyone, and I've been debating posting it at all- but more people read this than my Twitter so... Anyway, don't get too freaked out. Honestly, having my pulse trying to pound out of my chest is something I've dealt with for like... 7 years now? We changed the medication to avoid potential kidney damage, and I'm just trying to get this sorted out. Haven't forgotten anyone- I'm so sorry I haven't been my usual self lately. :( But yeah, don't worry too bad, I promise I'm used to this. Sorta, haha.

Anyway, I DO hope to have a stream soon. I need to get some other sketches and stuff posted as well. Thank you all for being super. I wish I was as cool as y'all. ♥

Sorry it's been so hard to reach me or taking longer than normal to hear back from me lately.

I haven't really been well.

I believe I have a long-term sinusitis? For a while now I've had constant daily pressure in my head which often leaves me with a bad headache. I'm concerned, but I cannot presently afford to go to the doctor. So I haven't been around the computer so much and have been in bed a lot more.

Just wanted to reach out and apologize for not being there so much for everyone lately and assure those of you who've noted me I'll be doing my best to get back to you. I hope to get the money together soon and get to the doctor if this doesn't get better. It's become a lot worse recently. Also I'm stubborn.

Just a quick note to mention I've updated how the current funding for the Great Bimbonite Expedition is displayed.

So first of all, let me say THANK YOU to everyone who sent nice birthday wishes! Messengers, Tumblr, Notes, comments, everything saw some awesome messages on Monday and I've just been unable to get around to thanking you all. So again, seriously, thank you so very much! ♥ Birthdays have frequently been a very... depressing date in my life, so between all of you and my wonderful wife, this one's been fabulous. :D

Perhaps it was an over-indulgence on the part of my wife and I to get it for me, but as I mentioned before I got a WiiU for my birthday (albeit a month early) and for the celebratory weekend proper I had a friend over to drink and play games with. One of those being the newly acquired Mario Kart 8! Which I am addicted to- and have been gifted the DLC for by a terribly sweet friend. Love that game way more than I thought I would!

I even received a piece of birthday gift art and it's WONDERFUL! I'll be posting it in a minute!

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been away for a little while- but hey I brought an art back with me for ya!

Life's been a little busy lately! There's been some funk, but don't worry yourselves about that. I try not to ruminate on the negatives. So let me tell you about a few of the cooler things I've had going on!

Been doing taxes- wait, that's not a cool thing! Damn!

Creating our garden! My wife and I are building an organic vegetable garden and I'm pretty excited about that. I've been growing seedlings inside for a few weeks now and the snow's finally melted away enough to build things outside! Which is good because I've got pea vines going all over our guest bedroom... We've currently got ourselves a big pit dug into a hillside in our yard and will be building it up this weekend. So, really excited about that!

Got a WiiU! My birthday is in just over 2 weeks and I've received the WiiU early! (Nintendo is discontinuing Club Nintendo a week before my birthday, end of March, and this allowed me to earn some last rewards. Get in on it if you're picking up any Nintendo merchandise before it's gone!) Really enjoying it so far! A few nice people have asked me to make a wishlist, so....

So far I've got 3D World and both Bayonetta games (Which I honestly didn't think I'd like, given that I never liked the DMC series. But, it's pretty fun!)



Additionally, I don't like this business of IMVU buying FA. A lot of you can agree on this, I'm sure. With that in mind, count on me getting to finally bringing my Weasyl up to speed. I'll be announcing that more in the future.

Well, I tried to keep open a lil while longer than usual! D:
I know, typically it fills up in an hour or two easily. And a number of people typically convey how discouraged that makes them, so I wanted to try and give something of a fair fight this time!

And yet, within 5 hours I've pushed the limit high as I feel comfortable doing and put down 7 of you that the Doctor just had to have. Which isn't to say that the rest of you were any less than awesome!

Omg, seriously. Seriously. So many of your characters were FABULOUS! I enjoyed every last one, and several that couldn't fit on the list- ugh, it was such a hard choice!

I know it's always hard to not get in, but I hope this method left some of you a little more satisfied! :c You can't please everyone, they say, but I really want everyone to be happy as they can be. Went to the doctor yesterday. Good news: Some symptoms I was experiencing were not, in fact, due to cancer. That was a big relief.

I do, however, have an infection and something just shy of a hernia. Which is apparently why sitting up to draw like I usually do is agonizing. To that end, I'm just trying to rest and get better and I've ordered a telescoping monitor mount that will hopefully allow me to keep my monitors close enough that I can lay back and still produce work. It should arrive Wednesday.

Despite being in pain, nauseous and forced to watch The Interview (Don't. It's awful. I did so out of family obligation.) I had a good holiday.

I've had some medical issues over the past week that have kept me from getting as much done as I'd like. Going to the doctor today for answers. I don't wish to give more details until I have more info.

Hope to feel better soon and tear into work.

Sorry about the downtime lately! There were a few events that knocked me around earlier in the month but I've largely put that behind me.

What's more to the point right now is that my mother is presently here for a week visiting. She's been here a couple of days, I've just been pretty tied up with all that! Got a few minutes now before bed to mention it, in case anyone was wondering about me!
