GoingAway from GoDaddy because they support SOPA
Posted 14 years agoGoDaddy supports #SOPA, so I'm not supporting them. I'm transferring my domains and so should you. #BoycottGoDaddy http://t.co/rw66GxYIt shocks me that GoDaddy thinks this bill in its current form is actually good ( http://support.godaddy.com/godaddy/.....a/?isc=smtwsup ). I understand piracy is bad, but SOPA is not the answer. Out of all of the crap GoDaddy has pulled over the years, this is the straw that broke this wolf's back. I've already transferred all of my domains from them and will refuse to do business with them or help anybody who has domains through them.
So this is GoodBye GoDaddy. I hope to never hear from you or anybody who chooses to do business with you again.
Curious about how much interest people would have
Posted 14 years agoI know a lot of people have Android based devices, so I pose this question: Would you pay for a custom live wallpaper with your fursona? This would only work with devices that have android 2.1 or higher. I could work with an animator of your choice (As long as they'd work with me) and we could create a wallpaper of your fursona that could be doing different things based on such things as:
- Time
- Accelerometer
- Notifications for FA/DA/SoFurry/Inkbunny/etc
- Battery level/action (charging/discharging/etc)
- Reacting to touching the wallpaper
- Reacting to dropping an icon/widget on the wallpaper
Things I've thought of that might be interesting:
- Holding a piece of mail (with optional number to see how many notifications it is aware of) when there is a notification on a furry based website
- Tamagotchi style setup where your fursona might be sleeping, you can "feed" it, make it exercise, etc.
- Pacing, your fursona would pace and depending on the orientation of your device, it would always attempt to walk on the "floor". Move it too quick and your fursona would fall and shake its fist at you.
Things I can't/won't do and why:
- Adult themed, I don't want to see that. Sorry.
What do you guys think? Do you have any suggestions? How much would you pay for each function? Are you an animator and want to do a trade?

LONG RMFC report.
Posted 16 years agoOn the 4th, I packed my things, went to work and left for SLC directly from work to start my vacation. I arrived at my girl friend's house at about 12:30 - 1am. After I arrived we went out for ice cream because we were both craving some. After driving to the local Dee's, we both got a hot brownie with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top. After getting back to her house, I got ready for bed and curled up on the floor next to her bed and pulled a blanket over me and fell asleep pretty quickly.
On Wednesday the 5th I woke up, got ready for the day. Mika and I ate some breakfast and watched the tv for a while. At lunch time we hopped in Sarge and got some lunch. We then proceeded to Albertsons where she grabbed some shampoo, a couple pairs of flip flops, and some allergy medicine. Meanwhile I grabbed some snacks for the trip. At the self checkout register, I rang everything up, paid and drove back to Mika's house. We packed up the snacks and went over to a local party store, Zurchers, to get some glow sticks for the dances that would happen on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. While there we browsed their selection of candy. I got some pop rocks (They had new flavors and I couldn't say no to that!) and some of those crystal candies on a stick. After getting up to the register, Mika pulled a fast one on me and had her debit card on the counter before I even had my hand in my pocket to get my wallet out to pay. While her paying is appreciated, it makes me wonder as to why she paid. After a bit of discussion, she felt like she needed to pay for some things because I was always insisting on paying for things like dinner and other things like at Albertsons when I bought her items as well as mine.
After getting back to Mika's house, we ate some dinner that her mother had made. I believe it was called Shipwreck or something like that. Baked beans, bacon, and a few other things mixed together. It was amazingly delicious. After dinner, I got ready for bed and curled up on the floor next to Mika's bed and went to sleep at about 6 - 7 pm so that I could be up at 2am the next morning for a long drive.
My alarm clock started blaring "Oxford Comma" by Vampire Weekend at 2m, I sleepily turned off the alarm and took a shower. After my shower I ate some cereal and waited for Mika to finish her shower. After Mika was done showering, we packed up Sarge and started the 8 hour or so drive to Denver, Colorado. The drive wasn't too bad, traffic was really good, and we got into Denver just in time for lunch. We parked Sarge in our hotel's parking lot and walked down the 16th street mall to see what we wanted to eat. We decided on Subway for lunch. After eating lunch, we walked back to the hotel and looked around what was to become the hotel for RMFC, It was about a fifth the size of what the hotel for FC was. I was really nervous that the size of the hotel would ruin the experience. After getting all worried, we went walking down the 16th street mall once again. For those who have not seen the 16th street mall, it is 10+ blocks of food, books, and various other stores. I have never seen anything like it. We took a few pictures of some of our favorite stores. At about 6pm, our roommates for the convention arrived and so we went up to the room we were going to be staying in for the next few days. After getting settled, we walked to the Hard Rock Cafe, which was pretty much the closest food source. We were all wearing our tails and we got plenty of stares and people were asking us questions. It was a lot of fun, even the manager came over and had to see all of our tails and ask us questions. After the Hard Rock cafe, we went to the hotel room, and we had a female husky and a female racoon suit up and we walked around the mall. We got tons of pictures and a drunk chick even hit on our female husky, it was pretty funny. After walking around for a little, we went back to the hotel and slept.
On the 7th, we were all up and ready by 9am so we could go get in line to pick up our badges. Almost everybody had pre-registered, only two did not pre-register and so they had to wait in the longer registration line. After everybody had badges, we walked down to Einstein bagels where we ate breakfast. Upon arriving back at the hotel, those who had fursuits put them on and we walked down to entertain, to hang out, to get our pictures taken. To our surprise the local CBS news team came and filmed us acting crazy. Video footage of the crazyness can be found here: http://cbs4denver.com/entertainment.....2.1120530.html and here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1EJjos67zU For those who do not know what I look like in fur: First, shame on you! Second, look here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2079912/ I was presently surprised by how much face time I got :D After a while of goofing off, I noticed that I had lost everybody in my group, After finding some people I knew from SLC, I hung with them a while before they went to get lunch. I asked them if they saw my group to let them know that I didn't have a key and was pretty much stuck in suit, which, I made sure they understood, was fine with me. I went to what is called the "headless lounge" where you can safely take off your head without public eyes prying into who you are. There were some large fans that were really powerful, so I got some water and sat down in front of one. A guy who goes by Trigger Happy Squirrel was hanging out in the lounge as well and we got to talking. We talked mostly about how to keep cool, he had bought and brought the fans for the headless lounge. After talking for half an hour to an hour (its hard to keep track of time while you're covered in fur), Mika and the rest of the group found me. We talked for a bit, they had gone out to lunch and apparently the sandwich shop they went to were addicted to onions, and so you had pretty much bread, onions, and a tiny bit of meat. All of the group who went said that it was okay, but would have preferred Subway or Quiznos. I put my head back on and went out to the Dealers Den. The dealers den is where artists and craft makers sell and display their works. It simply amazes me how much talent people have and it makes me wish I could do something like that. At around 5ish, I was done, I found someone with a key and took the elevator up to the tenth floor. After getting in the room I stopped. The room felt like a sauna, it was easily 90 to 100 degrees in there. Apparently the AC had quit while we were out and about. We called the front desk and they had someone up there fairly quick with a new AC unit. I changed into my street clothes and sat outside of the hotel room. Mika came up and sat next to me, we talked for a while as the hotel maintenance changed out the AC unit. After about another half hour, he had it changed and the room was filled with joy. Mika and I talked for a little while longer then went into the now cool room, everybody was watching The Simpsons, a show I personally like. I sat next to Mika and watched her blog and get caught up on stuff. While she was doing that, I grabbed my bag and grabbed a promise ring out of it. After holding her hand for a while, she needed it to type. I let it go for a while and after she took a small break to think what else to write I sneaked the promise ring onto her finger. She gasped and looked at it for a while and I just smiled at her. After a few minutes someone said they were hungry, a chorus of agreement sprung from everybody and we started walking down the 16th street mall. We found a local Pizza Hut/Taco Bell and decided to eat there. We all ate and walked back to the hotel to rest a bit longer, at around 10pm, we got back suited up into our fur and walked down to the dance. After gaining entry, we were bombarded with people selling glow sticks, we showed them ours and they knew they weren't going to get any money from us. We walked to one side of the dance, where most people were raving (spinning glow sticks and flashing balls of light) and we stood there for a few minutes. After getting some courage, I pulled Mika and the female husky over to the dance floor and started dancing. I know I looked stupid, but you know what? While in fur I couldn't care less. I just bounced and swung the way I wanted to. I don't think I've ever had so much fun dancing before. After 20 minutes or so of rocking out, they changed DJs and the new DJ seemed to be from a local high school or something because out came the familiar high school dance rap. After a song or two, most people stopped dancing, I went out to the headless lounge and got a drink and talked with Trigger Happy Squirrel more and a few other furs that were resting in there. After resting for a bit, I went back into the dance and tried to dance to the lame songs that were blasting out of the numerous speakers from the front of the room, but I just couldn't get into it, however another friend showed up at the dance. His name is HobbesDawg and his character/fursona (furry persona) is a Bernese Mt. Dog. We all danced some more before I got tired again and went back to the headless lounge. A fan had been setup in front of a chair and it gave the maxell chair commercial look to anybody who sat in front of it. ( See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2WcBi9mu6A )
A bunny from SLC had just gotten out of it and the chair was really wet. A few jokes went around but nobody wanted to sit in the chair. I shrugged, figuring that hey, I'm already wet and I know and trust this guy, so I plopped down in the chair and enjoyed the chill air. Getting up after a few minutes, I turned around and let the fan go to work on my bottom which was wet. Just as I had gotten comfortable with getting my bottom dry, a few people from my group came in and started laughing. They thought it was cute how I was drying my rump in front of a fan. So, of course, they took pictures of me in the act. I shrugged and said as long as I get a copy I didn't mind at all. I have yet to get a copy of these pictures. Yawning I got up and stretched, finding the rest of the group, we walked back to the elevators and went up to our room. I got ready for bed and slept soundly.
Saturday morning started fairly early for me. I woke up at about 7am with slight aching all over. I figured this was due to all the dancing I had done the night before. So I got up, took a shower, and laid in bed for a while just thinking. at about 8am Mika got up and took a shower, the rest of our group shorty followed. And around 9 or 10, we walked to Einstein bagels again for breakfast. While I definitely didn't mind the idea of going to the same place again, I didn't really feel full after going there the day before, so I made sure to buy a lot more this time. We got our food (we didn't eat at the place this time) and walked back to the hotel, where we were told that we were going to have to eat in our room. So we went up and crammed about 7 or 8 people into our tiny room. After finishing all of our meals, we packed the two tiny trash cans that were in our room with the bags and containers that once held our food. We all got our fur on and walked down to the ball room, where the fursuit parade was to start. We hung out there for about an hour with other fursuiters in front of the fans that were once in the headless lounge. While in there, a particular annoying fursuiter came in and said that he needed all the fursuiters in the room next door, the events manager for the convention, who happened to be in the room at the time spoke up and asked the feline who he was and why he was bossing everybody around. Silence fell on the room. The events manager pressed him for an answer, and the annoying fursuiter who shall remain nameless apologized, the events manager told him to kindly stop bossing people around. The feline left and the events manager told us to excuse the annoying fursuiter and that he had been bossing people around all of yesterday too. A few people chuckled and we resumed the hanging out. After the fans had been disabled twice due to a breaker, it was time for the parade. We lined up in the hallway and filed out onto the street and started walking down to the World Trade Center located on the 16th street mall. The local news stations and people were lined up on the sidewalk to watch us. Upon arriving at the World Trade Center, we all piled in for a group picture around the world trace center sign. After what seemed like forever and several thousand camera clicks later, we started filing back out to go back to the hotel. We got back into the ballroom and got as many people in front of the fans as possible. It had been a hot walk, even though the feet-paws I got burned a few times when we stool still waiting for cross walks to give us the white light telling us we could cross. Someone had grabbed some towels from the bathroom so we could wipe our heads off. After several more minutes of talking, Mika and I went up to our room and changed out of our fur and into street clothes. Upon arriving to the room, we instantly noticed that it had not been cleaned. We let housekeeping know they had missed us and went down to the dealers room again to look at things. After looking at everything, we went around to the 16th street mall and looked around more. After walking around for a while, we went back to the hotel to see if they had done the room, they had not. We went to a panel to give them more time, the presentation was done by the Denver Zoo, who brought in a few animals. After the presentation we all went to a local place called BD'S Mongolian Barbeque It was way good, price was about $14 for unlimited bowls. During dinner I started feeling off, and by the end of it I was feeling downright awful, we took the bus back to the hotel and after getting back to our still uncleaned room, I curled up on my bed and tried to doze. The rest of my group apart from Mika went down to the bar. Mika stayed up in the room with me to make sure I was taken care of. I fell asleep and only woke up once when the group had apparently gotten back from the dance.
On Sunday I woke up around 7am again, and I was once again the first one up. I took my shower and then went down to the front desk to complain that they had not made up our room and so we were out of towels. They sent towels up and I met the guy who delivered the towels at the room door. After checking my e-mail I laid back down to snooze while others showered. After showered, we walked to Einstein bagels again, while I got something different each day, the bagels were starting to get to me, but I ate quietly, I figured it was food so I can't complain. We took the shuttle down to Office Max so that HobbesDawg could get a pen and a flash drive so that he could get some art from a friend. I still wasn't feeling the best, but we took the shuttle back to the Hard Rock Cafe and from there walked to the hotel and went to the dealers den. After wondering a bit, Shadow, a furry from Colorado showed us the local paper called the "Denver post" He, I, Mika and a few other furs that I knew got in the paper! It was very cool. Here is a link to the article: http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_13023828 I was really excited to see this. I figured it was the last day of the convention and so me and a few other furs got into our furs and hung around the hotel and the dealers den for a while. Around 5:30pm, we all went up to the room, which had finally been cleaned, changed out of our fur and then we went over to the Hard Rock Cafe again for dinner. We ate, laughed, hung around, etc. the girls in the retail shop saw our tails and asked if we knew anybody with fursuits, of course we said we did, they asked if we could come back in our fur. I couldn't say no to that, so we ate and then went back to the hotel, got our fur on and went back. Everybody was so happy to see our, the Manager of the Hard Rock was glad to have us there, everybody wanted pictures with us, so we spent about an hour taking pictures. After which it started to rain, so we were stranded there for about a half an hour. After it stopped raining, I made a run for the hotel, hoping that it wouldn't rain more, luckily it did not. I got out of my fur and laid in bed again, my roommates came up and relaxed for a bit before going down to the last dance. I slept and tried to feel better.
Monday morning started about 7am again, I took a shower and went down to the hotel's front desk, I had them send up more towels as there were 5 people in the room and for some reason they only put in 2 towels. I walked back up and packed up my things and waited for others to get ready for leave for SLC again. At around 10am we all went to Einstein bagels again for our last breakfast there, after eating we went to the lobby of the hotel and hung for a while until I had to drive HobbesDawg to the Denver Airport. After dropping him off, we started driving back home. In Laramie, WY (I think that was the town) for gas and to meet back up with the others. I was feeling really sick and so I had Mika drive the rest of the way home to SLC, I was asleep for most of the drive except when we stopped in Rock Springs for some food and in Little America for Gas. We stopped at HobbesDawg's house, ate some pizza, and went to bed.
And that was the end of the convention, It was a blast, and I will definitely go again next year.
