FFFF Tourney
General | Posted 14 years agoSo I'm in this Livejournal Tournament thing for fursuits. Daverab has a vote today and tomorrow, and Livewire is up for a vote on May 1-2.
I honestly am not sure how it'll go. I put both fursuits in just to see what sort of votes I end up with. I'm sure there's quite a few of you that are huge fans of Livewire.
Anyways, for today/tomorrow, Daverab is up against Greg the Husky.

AC Roo business
General | Posted 14 years agoSo anyone remember photos like these?

Well they were all thanks to
exkhaniber and his crazy idea to arrange a roo photo shoot. Last year I was lucky to be grabbed while passing by. This year I am not making the same mistake.
ATTENTION ROO FURSUITERS ATTENDING AC2011: Meet Friday at 1PM outside the Spirit of Pittsburgh ballroom. Hilarity should ensue.

Somewhat in-brief FWA con report
General | Posted 14 years agoSo FWA. It's done.
Got there Thursday after hectic driving in a 2 car carpool (me alone in one car), having to call the hotel while driving in traffic trying to keep up so I can get a friend in the room early...etc etc.
I felt that Thursday was Friday, same for pretty much everyone. Opening was on the first day (missed it) and some other stuff. I danced pretty much every night of the con except for dead dog (mainly because when I passed by the room the music sounded pretty bad/undanciable.
Saw 2, Uncle Kage, Ebel's concert (fucking A Runnt and him have a good vibe going). Pretty funny stuff.
I attempted to enter the fursuit dance competition. I should have known better. At the audition I was nervous, didn't have music and sorta dicked around. I knew I didn't do so good, but I thought I had a decent chance at qualifying. 20 people probably and I knew 3 were right out under me. But...well...I forgot there was only 12 spots, with about 4 or 5 of those automatically taken by the good people. Anyways, there was also Ticer Tiger, who I hear is a professional Russian ballerina or professional dancer. I assume so because well he's insane with skill. Then there's the fact he placed 3rd. Yeah, snowballs chance in hell. There also probably was 10-20 more people at the second audition. Just means I need to try harder next year. Jeff's being quite helpful with advice and tips. I am not entirely sure if I bombed the audition and he's just encouraging me, or if I just need a bit of work. A closed room and no visibility makes judging yourself pretty hard.
Talked a whole bunch with Dingoroo and a new guy I met Araclast. As well as Sir Raiu Koren, the reindeer.
I sorta felt that Livewire > Daverab as a magnet for attention. The suit is older and was featured in the 2010 recap video and the photos at the end of that con along with Dr. Pepper. I let both Leon and Laphin wear livewire, think I may be a little more lenient on lending out suits. Cleaning and all that.
Uh...played beatmania in suit...that was interesting. Cannot scratch with no grip.
Overall it was a blast.

Back from FWA
General | Posted 14 years agoBack from FWA. I probably will jot something down later for a con report. It was quite fun though. Nearly 8 hours each way in a car alone sucks though.
Livewire at megaplex
General | Posted 15 years agoJust a heads up that I will be at Megaplex, so therefore livewire will be there too.
Post-AC Thing
General | Posted 15 years agoWARNING: SUPER LONG POST WITH LOTS OF NAMES
_______
So of course I went to AC.
Media also went, as a surprise for a friend. I was panicing a little beforehand because of the prospect of transporting my suit to and from the Omni each day. Thanks to him going and nice room-mates in his room, I had a place to store it and change.
Anyways, the flight up was uneventful. When I got to the Omni though,
rick2tails was not there to get us into the room even though he had promised to be there. I got in contact with him, seems his parents were getting into town late by a few days so he was driving in. So after about an hour we got into the room ok. For the most part Thursday was a rest day. Rick and I went on a Gateway Clipper Dam and Lock tour that lasted two and a half hours. I thought it was pretty awesome. I had never seen a gravity dam or traveled through a shipping lock, so it was pretty awesome. We left the dock at about 6, traveled 6 miles up the Monongahela river to the dam, went through the lock and came back. I got some awesome shots of the city heading up and back with different lighting conditions.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday went by in a blur. This was only the second con where I felt stressed/short on time. Previously I'd have down-time points where I felt depressed or bored because I had traveled so far to just stand around or wander through the con space. This time I was torn between events, busy getting into/walking around/and getting out of suit. I felt like I didn't suit enough unfortunately. The ear tags have ended now, and I didn't get one. There's some secret thing I guess you need to do to get one, or you must have needed to have one from the year before.
I went to several events and panels, including two from Jim Martin. I was shocked about his career history and his involvement on TMNT III as the animatronics operator for Leonardo. He had funny stories from his time at Seseme Street and The Great Space Coaster. He also had a performance panel, but that turned into us giving advice about suiting!
I also went to the 'imaginative realism' panel by James Gurney. Holy crap that man has talent. Each page in Dynotopia started as a 24x36 oil painting. When he does a painting he first will make a model of the scene, or get people to dress up in similar garb, or make a sculpty model of a dinasaur; then he photographs it. Using the photograph he makes either a pencil sketch or watercolor sketch of the scene and lighting. Then he throws away the photo (so he doesn't end up copying it), and paints. Up to 150 hours per painting.
For the most part it was an awesome con. On Saturday while that performance panel went on and the parade I was stuck in suit for a long time due to scheduling. Line up was at 1, the parade ended at 3ish. The performance panel was after that at 4, so there was an hour gap. The problem? 713 suiters trying to get on the elevator. So I decided to stay in suit for the panel. Jim was smart enough to have the hotel bring water so it was actually really nice. After the panel I had to run upstairs and back down before bumping into
Media to get back in the room and change out of the suit. That was one of the two 'dreaded mistakes' I had at the con.
Before I get to the second mistake, the most awesome thing ever happened Saturday night. A longtime friend of mine Delphi texted me out of the blue saying "Come say hi to Luni in the zoo." Luni...Lunatic25...
thelunatic25 was at the con. This was a huge shock for many reasons. For one, I've known luni since oh....2001. He's never gone to a furry con or met other furs. On top of that he wasn't even planning to goto AC and had some money issues. Yet there he was. Delphi helped him money wise to register and all. He wasn't too far away, only a few hours by car, so he drove at like 8pm and got there right after midnight if I remember right. It was awesome finally meeting the person I've probably known the longest in the fandom.
Unfortunately, the second mistake runs into why Luni and I didn't hang out too much. Sunday was a packed schedule, and I got up late. I went to a panel immediately after getting ready, then ran to goto the fursuit dance competition, then the art auction, then ran to check if I won anything in the art show, then ran to the 2 and Kage charity performance, then the closing ceremonies. So it's roughly 6, and I slowly walk out of the closing realizing my head was feeling woozy, I felt dizzy and I was walking slower than just about everyone else. Then it finally clicked; I hadn't eaten at all up to that point.
It gets worse from there. Rick met up with
brainsister and
pharwarner after the closing. I met up with all of them and we went to get food...at Primanti Brothers. This is like 6 blocks from the convention center. During the walk I barely talked and was trying to rush to get there. Then we finally got there, and the place was at max capacity with 2 workers. It took what felt like forever to get food. I also used the restroom and nearly passed out. Eventually I got food and we all got to talking, mainly about cartoons and some things about the US since pharwarner is an Australian. All four of us pretty much got into furry because of cartoons. It should be obvious which ones from character designs, names, art in galleries or in my case, the fact my character for the longest time was a toony blue rabbit.
Anyways, That was most of Sunday. Suited some more in Livewire and Luni got to see it,
dracoofzeradaith saw it...etc. I also danced. A fursuit with padding is not one to dance in. I lasted maybe 2 songs before needing to take a break.
I also got to meet
Daigo while there. I felt slightly bad talking to him in the artist alley. At first I didn't realize he was super busy, then he pointed out his sign about not wanting to be disturbed after talking for about 5 minutes. All is good though.
Overall it was great....cept for a third mistake. For those that haven't gone to AC, the airport is several miles from the convention center and hotels. The cheapest way to get there and back is a shuttle van service. $35 round trip, but you have to schedule the return. I told them my flight left on Monday at 3:15pm. My mistake? That time was my arrival time in Orlando. OOOOOOOPS! So there I was, picked up by the van around 12:30 with my flight at 1. Luckily Southwest Airlines put me on standby and I got on the next flight out at 4:45 no problem. I could have transfered and gotten a real ticket, but then I would have had to pay a $160 fee. The round trip together was under $300. So yeah, got back to Orlando tired as hell, then had to work till today. I might sleep in tomorrow for a loooooong time.

Livewire @ AC
General | Posted 15 years agoOf course I and Livewire shall be at Anthrocon 2010. With any luck there will be a new soda roo there as well! Just look around for a stupid red/orange/yellow/black kangaroo of awesome roaming the halls sometime during the day and night.
TF2
General | Posted 15 years agoYeah I'm late to the party. I decided to jump on the band wagon since it went to $10 over the weekend. Steam handle is "daverabfur". I think it's quite fun, just I'm a total newb at it.
Some friends also play Left 4 Dead 2, but I think that may be a bit out of my league.
EDIT: Changed my display name to "Daverab" I am unsure if this changes the handle people need to use to find me or not.

Seriously. I just now discovered this. I mean seriously. Daffy doesn't look too badly changed, but bugs looks like they threw the design sheet to a new animator and said "Go ahead, change it" and the character designer fucked with proportions everywhere.

ESG10 and Livewire
General | Posted 15 years agoWell, another con. Well I guess Elliott's Spring Gathering can now be called a con even though 70% is spent at events outside of the hotel.
Anyways, Livewire was unfortunately lonely. He was the only soda-roo at the con. He did find a few other roos, but it wasn't enough.
At least he had something to keep him company: https://ele.furryhost.com/index.php?q=gallery&g2_itemId=21220&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
Yeah, they did a photo shoot. They ended up posting a LOT of photos of Livewire, more than I was expecting. It all starts with the last photo here and goes on for 2 more pages (19 shots in total): https://ele.furryhost.com/index.php?q=gallery&g2_itemId=20900&g2_page=10

Soda...roos....OMG
General | Posted 15 years agoToo many. Seriously.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3714780/
I think that has a full list in the submission comments. I um...have an issue now. I just updated the list with the 4 or so people were noting on one of my submissions...then I found this. It got worse from there. There's about 40 in total...at least that anyways.
So here's the deal: Please feel free to email me with information with the soda roos IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUILD A SUIT. I just want a few little things:
1. Name of soda.
2. Concept art link
3. Your furry name if it's different from your FA account
4. Status of the suit. This should be at least 'concept completed' and can be "Commissioned" or "Started" or "Ordered fur" or something along those lines.
Yeah...that list really surprised me.
Additionally, the next convention that I will be attending will be ESG (Elliott's Spring Gathering) Here in Florida. If you will be attending and have a suit already completed let me know. Onai and I want to get pictures of the Mob. After Elliott's, I will be attending Anthrocon, so let me know additionally if you are planning on attending that with a new soda roo. Again...pictures.
EDIT: It'd help if I add my email address wouldn't it? Daverabfur [at] gmail.com
Additionally,
onai-wolfwind is the originator of this chaos. I am just trying to help keep it slightly organized.

General | Posted 15 years agoAlright, I got a little bit of time. So I did this: http://daverab.net/roos/
That'll be the official spot to track who is doing what for those that want to build another soda roo and whatnot.
Note:
onai-wolfwind was the creator of soda-roos. I'm just trying to help and keep track of the mayhem.

General | Posted 15 years agoThe con was a bit crazy. A lot of people liked Livewire and I got some gift art from Alex Trefur
arbokx
I was partially sad because Dr. Pepper
onai-wolfwind got a free button! That looked pretty awesome.
I suited quite a bit, perhaps a little too much because I felt more and more tired each day. I stayed up late too which didn't help. I ended up passing out at 10pm last night which was good since I had to drive home today (7 hours).
I just hope I was able to nail down a roo while I was in suit. I probably should have studied up a bit more on roo behavior before the con. I'm sure I'll figure out more before I goto the next event which will be Elliot's spring thing.

FWA and Livewire
General | Posted 15 years agoSo another con, another journal post (because I'm THAT lazy).
Anyways, I'll be debuting my first fursuit, Livewire at the con. It's gonna be a lil' crazy fer sure. I'll be heading up tomorrow from roughly 7am-2pm. YAY FOR DRIVING
Luckily there will be people with me. Most likely
qdog and
akota. Perhaps Tolemer will also be able to join us, but that's so up in the air with his situation and all.
So yeah...lots of driving ahead of me. Oh yeah, I also probably should pack.
JUST SAYIN

Third one I've been to in a row. I'll be in the Courtyard by Marriott and I'll leave a note mentioning where I will be on the main bulletin board thing.
Maybe I'll see one of you watchers there, who knows.

General | Posted 17 years agoHi all my 'adoring' fans...all...22 of you or so...
I'm going to FWA tomorrow! Yay...
I'll have my room information posted on the bulletin board. I'll also be on aim for the full duration of the con. Daverabfur is the sn if you all don't already have it and care.
Hope to see maybe one of you at the con...I may even try wearing a suit of Antimons if he'll let me. Of course it'll be a bunniroo.

Anthrocon

FWA
General | Posted 18 years agoLooks like I'm going to FWA again this year. For those who care, I'll probably leave info on the common board.
Leaving tomorrow, anyone wanna see another story?
General | Posted 18 years agoWell, I'm leaving tomorrow. Going to AC and won't be back for quite a while. Anyways, I'll probably have a blast and be trashed when I get back...
I was just a little curious though, how many of you out there would actually like to see me write another story?
I've sorta been lazy about it and such, so I'm just seeing if anyone really has any interest. That way I'll go "oh noes, I'm disappointing people by not writing."

General | Posted 18 years agoI'm going to be at AC! YAYYYYYY! I'm staying with Rick2Tails and should have a blast. Anyone who reads this and would like to meet me, I'm staying in the 'overflow' hotel and I should be leaving a note somewhere on what room I'll be in and such.
Type-fuck whore

Borning, Agrivated, etc.
General | Posted 19 years agoSo yeah. I have my computer break on me today. I had to go and run out and get a power supply. I came back home. I went and sucked myself into my usual porn/MUCK/TYPEFUCKLOLOLOLOLOL mood and habits. I'm on the muck and all, and I'm realizing something about myself and my character. I'm changing, and I am frustrated because I only know a few people willing to do what I want to explore and do.
My character used to be a half-toon rabbit. Then he got a larger cock. Ok, a lot larger. Now I have a herm with dual cocks, and a demon form with a totally changable sex and blue pre/cum. I like to spear people (in one end, out the other) currently. Now I want to get more into dominating my partner and a bit of violence tacked on. The problem? There's only two fucking people that'll let me do that. I should probably get it out in writing, but I don't know if that'll help.
It's getting really damn frustrating when I'm in a scene, and I start changing to wanting to do this, and I'm with someone that's ok with either hyperfurs or tons of cum/pre but can't stand the spearing or the off the wall stuff. I seriously need to find someone that's willing to go into this 'oddball' stuff.
I blame a few people I met on Tapestries for this. One was a herm that essentially was lust wrapped in a body barely containing it, and the other a shifter that really wants to be the one on top. Both together have made me explore this other side of me, and I like it.
Unfortunately though, I see the other side of this. I'm going to end up drawing people around me into gore, and then I'm going to want a normal yiff or just a hyperfur one, or one where I want to be dommed, and piss them off.
Bleh. I don't know....
