Posted 2 years agoLong time ago, in Europe, a group of people from what today is Ireland celebrated Samhain, which used to give an end to their year, it was thought the dead walked freely around those times of Samhain, their magic never stopped growing those times. The spirits who were evil were vanished with turnips and fire.
The kids recollected all of the gifts people offered from their homes which were then taken to the druids so they could see the future supposedly (not without human, animal and plant sacrifices) when the Roman’s discovered this, they thought the unnecessary sacrifices were going out of control, prohibiting the celebrating which was then slowly lost to time until the pope “Gregorio IV” changed the name of Samhain to the day of all the saints.
In the ninetieth century the Ireland immigrants take the celebration with them to America, popularizing it with stories such as the one of “Jack-O-Lanter”
Called “Stinky Jack” was a very drunk, yet sly, brave, bold and cunning person, so much so that he made a fool out of the devil itself,
The devil appeared to him but Jack managed to trap him thanks to a cross he had in his pocket.
He bargained with the devil, he asked for “10 more years” and so 10 years later when the devil came back, he is made a fool again by Jack who trapped the devil in a tree with a bunch of crossed planted around the tree.
He bargained with the devil again, he asked “for him to never touch his soul ever again”
When Jack died, he wasn’t accepted in heaven, Jack went to hell and the devil remembered him that his soul only belonged to Jack and the devil couldn’t have it, telling Jack that if he wanted the eternal rest, he should go find it himself, throwing him out of hell and back to the realm of the living with some ashes on him, Jack used the ashes and a turnip to make a lamp for the road, he goes without a direction with his “lamp” he was now known as the wandering Jack-O-Lantern.
And since the Irish immigrants now were in America, they found that there was an excess of pumpkins there, so they started to use the pumpkins instead of turnips, putting them in their homes to scare away the devil
And that, is the supposed story of the origin of Halloween!

Anyway! I’ll be making a story, in fact, I’m doing it now, it’s my first time doing this, it’s for a dear friend of mine, so! Let’s see how this goes

Posted 5 years agoI’ve been thinking on putting this account to use (other than giving fav to any baby bump I come across) I feel like making stories, I’ve had experience with a few before but I’m interested in growing over time and improving my writing (heads up, I’m from Mexico, so I might now know some words in English and that stuff) so I believe I should start working on a story (pregnancy related because geometry) so yeah, I hope to have my very first story finished before 25 of December
