A friend on tumblr told me about a place called grundos.cafe and found out that it's just a replica of old neopets and oh man I am THRIVING, I'm gonna make rad pet pages and finally have the pets I've wanted since I was little
Probably post the art there and do some trades on it or something to get the items I need

commissions are back open and I'm considering doing both digital and hand sculpted ones as well, I'm not 100% sure on how to price those other than sculpey pieces will likely start around $100 and digital ones $150 or something

I've seen some people say that it's weird how out of everywhere to post art, this is one of the best places, but I'm not really surprised. Aside from like early DA, this place was made for a specific community and not just a way to profit and I think that's why it's still doing so well, especially against social media (which is honestly not the only places people should be posting art)

a couple months ago, she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and so far, when I've had to refill her medication, it's been $300 because of blood draws and I cannot keep up with paying that, so I decided to go for radioactive iodine treatment for it

So since I took a week off of work to do stuff for crypticon + didn't do well there and had to spend most of what I made on car stuff, I only have $70 and need to be able to pay rent as soon as I can, which is $600

Hi I barely made shit at crypticon this weekend, about 1/3 of what I made last year (ouch)
But, I still had a lot of fun there, got to talk to the Chiodo brothers about stuff, which they're really approachable and if I could have, I likely would have just talked about making stuff at them the rest of the day. This also doesn't mean I'm not going there again, I definitely am because people came looking for my stuff.
I'm just getting a different table with less expense.

ANYWAY, to make up for the losses at crypticon, I do have my online shop, I'm going to be trying to add my new pins etc. Etc.

Working mostly, it sucks!
I'd kill to have more time for art and a way to lessen my exhaustion to be able to do more art, but possibly in the future.

I did get a 3d printer, which is really fucking rad. I decided to go with a filament one because the material being more durable for wearable things, and the color variations mmm. So far, my plans for that are teratoma pins, worms, a cool choker that I have to figure out how to model it in the first place. Figures.

I miight be opening for a few commission slots as well because things suck, I won't go into details, but I'll also be doing that feeding drive, I'll try to sketch it out between today and tomorrow and get it posted with all the details and stuff

Even though I just have one left to finish, it's taking me awhile because of work and life stuff, but I'm chipping away at it as I can.

but, because of Crypticon being in May this year, commissions are very likely going to be closed until June so I can focus on making stuff for that (I have a kickass corner table this year)

while I love the commissions I've been getting lately, I don't feel like it's fully sustainable for me to do all the time and really wanna put my focus onto physical goods. Like my sculptures and such.

So I'm kinda considering making fursuit parts, mostly head bases (definitely doing skulls) because that would allow me to make things, use my anatomy knowledge and have fun.

and I really prefer to do horror stuff, but also I need to do something that would sell more and that would be a good fit I think

I’m probably going to start taking them at the beginning of next month, give myself some time to whip up a couple examples of what I wanna do.

I’m also probably going to bring back skistomid comms if you wanna be drawn as one of my worms instead too.

I'll make a new journal when I actually open for them, but for the halloween season this year, I want to make your characters gnarly and disgusting. Give them more flesh, eyes, teeth, weirdness!

I'm going to draw up an example, not using one of my already monster characters, figure out pricing and hopefully be open for these by the end of the week

I’ve been thinking about saying this lately. But the honest reason I’m so into gore is:
1. Medical fascination
2. It’s pretty
3. Some spiritual shit I guess

And even though I draw sexual gore, it’s because I find it a great way to show deep intimacy and connection. Just spill your guts for your lover! I’m incredibly disinterested in torture gore, and that also kinda annoys me, I really prefer to have it be genuinely enjoyed by the one being gutted or dismembered.

The reason it’s likely also a spiritual thing is also because of the closeness thing, like taking a carcass, carefully taking it apart, observing each organ? You get to know something both inside and out, you can learn a lot about its health and everything by digging through its insides. I find it grounding.

And that’s also part of why I’m excited for the cadaver class, because I have too much anxiety and too little money for medical school and this is going to be a great way to know the human body more inside and out like I do with the dead animals I pick up or get given.

I did amazingly well and 10/10 doing it next year, I thought I’d just make table back but holy shit I went well past that and managed to make over $900, today was a bit slower and I didn’t make as much, but oh well!

Money stuff aside, I had a ton of fun even though I was mostly behind my table and didn’t go to any panels. I made a friend with the person tabling next to me, AND THEY HAVE GOATS, I also got to meet David Naughton And got to show him my monster collars and went off about them. There was a couple of people that came up and wondered why I haven’t done anything for films yet and gave me a card to contact them about it. I don’t think they were big name people but still, the thought of doing work for films would be really cool.

With the money I made this weekend gives me more hope for my art business because of the amount of people that should see my art did, finally! It also means I get to go to both an autopsy and cadaver dissection class up in Seattle at the end of October FUCK YES

I also treated myself to a new skull: a peccary with all of its teeth, which I found out they have serrated incisors, and got a preserved fetal pig

I have a decent sized space to fill, and this is also my first convention, so I want to make sure I’m nice and prepared for it. So in order to focus on making more stuff for it, my commissions are closed until afterwards!
