Internet troubles

Aaaand there's potentially 60Meg internet coming my way soonish. About bloody time, too, I've lost my patience with this bloody internet speed many a time.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like this is going to happen.
The potentially 60Meg internet was from Virgin Media. Okay, not so bad.
The bloody internet speed, as in the one we have right now, is AOL/TalkTalk.
AOL/TalkTalk only offered 'up to 8Meg' speeds, with no mention of an upload speed anywhere, although 10% of the download speed is usually a good margin.
On a good day, we might hit 4Mb download at an absolute peak, with ~0.35Mb upload. But that's not even the terrible part yet.
The parents instead decided to switch to...

The Post Office.
Yup. They've instead decided to go with them on the logic that they've got the phone through them anyway.... Parents. x.x
So, I did some looking around on the Post Office site at their internet... No details of anything regarding any download or upload speeds. So I looked around on internet comparison sites instead.

Posted 12 years agoWell, I figured that seeing as I could remember it, and it was actually slightly interesting, I'd try to perform a recollection for a dream that I just had. I rarely recall dreams, even rarer actually record them, but otherwise, this one seemed half-interesting.
So, I was either a wanderer or escaping, not sure which, before eventually settling down to sit in front of large castle gates, guarded of course, seated next to one of the sleeping guards. Eventually, I fell asleep, the other guard woke up, I was mistaken for a thief at first, but being sitting right next to one (formerly) sleeping guard, I'm somehow not that suspicious, so get taken in and rested and such. What happens between here and the next part is lost, but I then somehow have a vision of someone leaving a blooded marker outside the castle, seemingly looking for the 'Father', assumedly myself. I then tell assumedly one of my 'captors'(?) about this, and then run to the castle gates to find them.
After that, dream ends. Shame. 'Twas curious, in the least.

So, I've been going through them. Apologies to everyone I'm watching for the possible sudden ballooning of favourites on your end. Totally worth it.
On another note, however, been on holiday to Minehead to try and get a break from the norm. It worked, until the last day when my mother was getting overly concerned about me and wanting to make sure everything went as planned. Which wouldn't have been so bad if she wasn't just interrupting me. Ah, well.
One thing that just slightly ruined my holiday was an almost chronic bout of (nervous?) indigestion. Which was a real shame, considering I really had an all-you-can-eat at my disposal for breakfast and dinner.... Could barely keep up the pace of what I was capable of eating a few years back. Might be the diet plan at home affecting me more. I don't know. Either way, I'll be heading to the GP at some point this week to get it checked out.
Humhum. I should also probably get back into the swing of art-stuff.... I really need to actually just draw more in general. Although, thinking about it, maybe I should try some literature.... Nah. I self-deprecate too much.
Either way, I need to get back into the creative flow. That'll do some good for me.

Updates and selling stoooof
Posted 12 years agoWell, a general update in life... Well, long story short, I've been dealing with stress issues, to say the least. So, I've been a bit off, here and there. It hasn't affected me too much, but it might be enough to affect my state at college significantly. Oh, and I'll have to do a resit, come Summer. I don't really want to go too much over that.
However, in situations more light-hearted...
Northern Dragon's MISCC is temporarily open for business!
Well, that's what I'll call it, anyway. What I'm basically trying to say is that while I don't need the money, I do need extra space in my room. I've got a whole load of stuff that's clogging up space in my cupboards, drawers... Generally taking up space. When I did a good tidy-up of my room some time ago, I found loads of this stuff. I want to be able to sell it to people, partially so that I can get some selling experience (or whatever, I make it sound like I'm trying to increase my Speech skill tree...), but mainly so that I don't have to just take the easy route and hand it all in to a charity shop. Although that's an effective option, the charity shop route, I don't really want to use it as a first resort. So...
If you want to ask anything about my wares, per se, drop me a message on this journal, or send me a note. Either one should work, but if you're going to be sending a note, say in the subject that you're asking about buying stuff.

Posted 13 years agoOkay, so I've been neglecting this place. Badly. The dust has been piling up, and I've got about 7500 messages to sort through. Sadly, if anyone had any journals regarding me, I'm sorry that I haven't been able to respond to any of them.
Effectively, shit got out of hand because I let it get that way. And now I don't like it. I'm really not enjoying the way things are going right now. I just feel a really annoying compulsion to have to apologise to everyone, right now. It's not fun.
Another thing. You know thse things where you'll go to it for ages, because it seemed wonderful at the start, but a few months down the line, you realised it's nowhere really different from what you were doing before? Yeah. Uni work. I know I need to stick at it, but I just don't know if I'll be able to stick at it in the current situation that I've got myself stuck in.
Meh.
At least the snow looks nice.
Oh, and I recently got myself Snivy, Oshawott and Yoshi plushes. My inner child was calling. :c

I mean, I kinda stopped checking submissions and kinda let over 1000 build up, spent all night just going through them. Sorry for all the favobombing that's effectively been going on. ^^;
Also a fuerhter apology to anyone else who has been trying to get a hold of me, but not been able to due to me being, effectively, out of it. Bleh. Ah, well. At least I'm caught up, now.
Oh, another side-note. I'll be home alone all this weekend... I'll be productive during that weekend! Productive being writing up to-do lists, maybe some researching, but largely eating and lazing. Hopefully should get some stuff done, like art.

Hmm... Student finance still hasn't come in yet. Probably won't be able to buy Pokemon Black 2/White 2 on the day it comes out. What a shame. They go far too slow. Frankly, I'm lucky that I have parents who understand that it's not my fault that they're being slow and shit. I'm also even more lucky that I'm still staying at home, I don't really think I'd be able to handle effectively begging off people for money because I can't pay the rent and shit. Sad that they can't hurry up applications.

Team Fortress Shenanigans and Money Issues

Recently, between college time, playing around with Pokemon hacks (Notably Blaze Black and Bokemob), Touhou and Danmakufu shenanigans, and re-various gameboy games all over again, I've been getting back into playing Team Fortress 2. Sure, I still love playing as Soldier, Demoman and Spy, but I've been getting a recent liking for playing as Sniper. I blame my patience for learning how to properly use a sniper rifle. Oh, and effectively having to learn how to use a sniper rifle because of the Machina.
Neh, well.
On another note, Student Finance are still useless. But, talked to a nice woman from there on the phone, and at least I actually know what's going wrong with my application. What someone else on the phone told me was that I could have just sent the second part of a declaration of identity form as an addendum. I got a letter on Monday saying that because I didn't send both parts to the declaration, it was effectively rendered void. Goody. Told the nice woman about this, turns out that the person who had told me I could have sent it the way they told me either didn't note it down, because they don't have any records of it on my account, or they did note it down and it was misplaced. Bloody f-ing typical.
I'll probably have money some time mid-October-ish, should everything go as planned. I could do with some money. I really don't think I'll be able to keep leeching off my parents for much longer.

Posted 13 years ago... And relaaaax. Takeadeepbreath. *hffff* And now I can start relaxing again. Sure, I almost certainly won't have any money until a few weeks/months into college, as the student finance company is beyond useless, but at least I can start relaxing now.

Just because the one we currently have is the one that AOL originally supplied us with.
So, I have the question here:
Do you need to use the router the company originally supplied you with, or can you buy a newer/better one?
I'm fairly sure you don't need to use the one they originally supplied, but I figured it'd be best to ask tech-minded people anyway. I'll also add that we've had this router since around '08, and is a THOMSON ST585v6sl. I've both heard and been told it's a notorious crap router for dropping out.
Secondly, my mother bothered me about a week ago about trying to get some paint to go on metalwork, but I'm not sure what kind of paint. She suggested acrylic paints, but I wouldn't know. So, are acrylic paints the right way to go on metalwork? If not, what would be the best option?

Unfortunately, that's all the goodness that can be mentioned, really. It pretty much goes downhill from here.
Mainly due to one thing.
A dog.
Not my dog, he's possibly one of the most placid things you'll ever know, oh no.
A dog that me and my dog, while walking through town, encountered.
For reasons that remain unknown, this dog had a nasty bite at my dog. We're still not entirely sure what happened, and I can't remember it fully, not like I really want to remember it... Their dog, the aggressor in the situation, came away completely unscathed apart from bluntly whapped on the head by a well-built guy in a white shirt who managed to separate the two dogs. Both me and my dog came away with comparatively minor injuries.
I sustained a nasty injury on my left hand, that I think I got from trying to pull my dog away from their dog. As I said earlier, I don't particularly want to remember it. It was bleeding slightly, but after the incident, went straight to the hospital to get it checked out.
My dog also came off surprisingly lightly from the encounter, only coming away with a badly bloodied nose and a couple of dislocated teeth. Mum is currently taking him to the vet to get it checked out.
Hopefully things won't spiral out of control too much, but my mother has said that for any vet bills, she is getting the owner of the other dog to pay for them.
One last notice that I will add, the other dog was a Staffordshire bull terrier. I'm only adding this so that you wouldn't have skipped all of it, on the grounds that Staffies are notoriously vicious, and it would have done it anyway...
Bull. Shit. I have known that pretty much any dog can be aggressive if provoked in the wrong way. My most vicious dog that I've ever had was a Jack Russel.
My older brother, he has a Staffy of his own, it's just playful and bouncy. Only bites playfully because you're holding its chew toy.

Turns out that what had changed what that I've now got a conditional offer on my Games Development course, and I've still got the interview regarding my Animation course.

Right then, updates.
Posted 13 years agoWell, first things first, I've got myself an interview for a college placement at Newcastle College on the 16th. For that, I'm going to need to gather stuff for a portfolio, so I should really be working on drawing stuff more. Sadly, that does mean that those trades that I've been holding off for too long and planned to get done over this time will have to be pushed back even further. (Yes, I'm talking about the ones I've got stuck with the-furry-railfan and 
thedragongatorthing. Please don't worry, I'll put in extra work for it, seeing as I've had you pushed back for so long.)
Next, I am currently job-less for over the summer, and it doesn't look like I'll be able to get even just a summer job at this rate, so I'll be skimping on money even more than usual. Ohgod. Luckily though, I've already bought most of the equipment I already needed, including new sketchpads (in A4 size, I can't work in A5 size, which is the ones I've been holding off those requests because of), a decent supply of pens, coffee, water and sugar. Oh, and I've still got this laptop, so I've got my music. Even if my half-busted desk means I'm still badly limited on desk space.
Oh, and because I'm not stressing out so much over schoolwork, I'll finally be able to get back to re-learning Danmakufu. Which, if I record some stuff on it, I'll probably be able to use in my art portfolio (It's for an animation course, so they'll probably want to see a bit of everything). I could make a short movie in that. Hmm.
Furthermore, now that my parents have gottheir laptop repaired a new laptop, I don't have to qorry quite so much about being interrupted at stupid key moments when I'm working that mean I lose my train of concentration, and therefore can't get started again. Yay~
Current to-do list:

• thedragongatorthing 'trade' (ALSO LONG OVERDUE)
• Art portfolio work
• Getting back into an art groove
• Personal art ideas that I've had brewing for ages

Posted 13 years agoWell, not really. I've finally managed to acquire a better sketchpad than the A5 one I was using.
I'll admit, yes, I'm not an amazing artist, but I feel the quality just goes much more downhill on smaller paper. That's why I'm using one of the sketchpads that one of friends, both in real life and online, swears by.
Regardless, maybe I'll finally manage to get round to doing those requests I've had backing up for ages... *embarassed*
On another note, I'm just awaiting notifications via either email or phone or whatever regarding a course that I'm planning to get onto in September. Wish me luck~!

Heh, I honestly like the update. I find it streamlined, smaller, and the positioning of the adverts does fill in the otherwise emptly space. Congrats, 'Neer, ya did a good job on this.Not saying that like you've never done a bad job, that may have been badly worded
