General | Posted 9 years agoim wondering how im gonna do scales. i was thinking spandex but how would i do tiny scale details
ive looked at scale fabric but idk about having all the scales facing the right direction and bending properly
i could carve into leather but that feels more expensive than the 2d alternative of painting on a scale pattern to fabric.
maybe if i can figure out how to make nice curves n seams with craft foam i can use that instead of fabric. use panels in some places and carve scales into others
update just found this tutorial https://youtu.be/gHPkphtM8z0 maybe ill use a base fabric then glue these sequins on
update i think those would be too flashy since its going to be half the face. i dont like the look of fur cut to look like scales so thats a no.

wtf is it made from no one evr answers. face looks like leather, not sure about the rest. probably leather. in leaning more and more towards craft foam with carved scales

1. Brush on the substrate of your choice. (I prefer Jaxsan 600 or ViCryl, but any latex or acrylic mastic will work. I don't use latex carpet adhesive because of the fumes and extremely long dry time)"
pretty sure i can skip this step if i seal the foam with an iron beforehand and use woodglue as a primer. i will see how much it costs for latex paint or primer tho.
