Lore: Clay Dolls
Posted 9 years agoThe major societies of On Gay Wings We Sing consist mostly of atheists and scientist. People who find explantation for every aspect of life. And while they try so hard, there exist one notable anomaly in their world: Clay Dolls.
Clay Dolls are humanoid creatures. They have stocky bodies with long bony arms and legs, grey skin but no head. Instead, they have a single mouth across the breasts of their chests; no eyes, no ears, and no nose. Just a mouth. Each of their hands have six fingers: two thumbs and four normal fingers. Clay Dolls are also very small. The Clay Dolls that live in the Middle Lands only stand about six inches tall; the ones in the far western Wugher lands do get to be around a foot tall. They are called Clay Dolls because of their small stature and for that fact that they mainly live around creeks, rivers, and lake's clay deposits. They eat different types of rocks and minerals but clay is their favorite. In a world of science, Clay Dolls are a mystery. No one has ever seen a Clay Doll defecate, mate, or even die. Clay Dolls can be killed like normal things but if left alone no one has ever seen one die from "old age" or sickness. In fact, some noble houses pass down pet Clay Dolls. The oldest recorded Clay Doll has been in possession of the Kabkazi family for 470 years. The only explantations for their origin come from local folklore and even that varies from region to region. Though curiously, the majority of those stories have some sort of correlation between Clay Dolls and the useless plant mandrake.
Intelligence in Clay Dolls is also varied. Some people who have studied them for years only find animalistic behaviors; whilst others have seen intelligence and in the most rarest of cases, speech. Across the great sea some adventurous explorers go deep into the abandoned continent and come back telling stories of Clay Dolls that grow to be the size of tree. Leon, the Pontif
Posted 9 years agoOne day, in a world of old, a young man named Leon was visited by an angel. They immediately fell in love and were inseparable. One day however, a demon came and swallowed her whole. Leon tormented at her death and fervently pursued the demon until finally he slew the beast down. But not without injury. The demon bit his arm and venom shot through his body. He searched for his angel from the demon and found what was left of her: her flaming heart. He toke the flame and held it close without giving second thought to the venom. A powerful heavily body saw Leon and was moved. It blessed Leon by turning the venom into pus and healed him. With his angel's heart and the demon's pus, he could control and summon angelic fire. Thus the birth of pyromancy. But he was still sad. He wanted his angel to have her form back. So he left his world. Now, he is an invader of worlds. Named "Pontif" he travels, searching for the right world that contains the Ludite's Tome. An object of such immense power, that it could give his angel back her form. However, because he has invaded so many worlds, he may never return to his home.
On Gay Wings We Sing
Posted 9 years agoLong before any of the events that concern Kazimir Devacacesi, were the Zveda. A civilization that had the ability to traverse the stars. At some point, there came an interest in artificial life. Project Chronaslav was aimed at creating a synthetic person completely free from any biological origins. The scientists created synthetic gametes and synthetic gestation organs. After many years of failures, many of the scientists left Project Chronaslav to try and create their own experiments. The first synthetic life was created from these scientists and were praised for their skills. they boasted to the public about using only pure-artificial methods; the truth in fact being they cheated. They used modified existing cells and DNA to create a base generation of synthetics, then breed specific synthetics with each other to bring out pure synthetic characteristics. After synthetics populated to systems, they began to war with the biologicals. This is called the Great Fake War. Project Chronaslav never fully disbanded. Project Chronaslav in secret merged with Project Star-Birth. Both projects took ships, the Gamayun and the only ship capable of F.T.L. flight the Uexkull, and fled deep into uncharted space to conduct their experiments. Nothing is know about Project Star-Birth, only that they discovered a new thought about the universe, they called this Cosmic Fundamentalism; they were also known to conduct unethical experiments in conjunction with Project Chronaslav. The Great Fake War soon found its way to the Uxekull and Gamayun. As soon as they were approached, Uxekull jumped into unknown space, leaving Gamayun abandoned with the product of Project Chronaslav. On Gamayun, No. 180924609 was found, the first pure artificial being. She would later find a way to escape the war and settled on a lonely system. Those who explored the Gamayun were shocked by the truth of Project Chronaslav and destroyed all materials on it. Any more information from the time of the Zveda ended with the finding of the Gamayun. The Zveda went to near extinction due to an unknown event and the survivors were forced onto a single planet, the same planet No. 1809246 went to. The survivors forgot what they used to be, forgot all their technology and forced back into a dark age. Whatever caused the mass extinction is unknown except that it has to do something with the concept of Cosmic Fundamentalism. Cosmic Fundamentalism is the answer to why a space-travelling society can revert back to the middle ages, it is the answer to why after an age of science why things like the Beasts of the Earth, Yoel & Io, and the Rusty Bayonet can exist, and it is the answer to why Kazimir is so special.
Uxekull would eventually return, and with it those who fled the Great Fake War. They will seek and find Kazimir before the End of All Things.

Kazimir learned about what Kalpamos did while aboard Uexkull, after Gamayun's fall and knew that Uexkull and her crew were on course to Bezual-a-kati. Kazimir came to and found Władysław asleep next his body; it had been days since Baba's attempt at God's resurrection, the 5th Circle came and left. Kazimir spoke only one word, his new name "Ixul"//
//Ixul along with Władysław would go to the Chwaszybynsk at Zitijena and seek the Mothers who sang during Mama's labor. The Mother's praised Ixul however the rest of the Chwaszybynsk were weary of Ixul and the Mother's claims. So to prove herself, Ixul saw that the Chwa were hungry so she took the Rusty Bayonet and cut off her left arm in one swoop. As Ixul's arm feel and touched the ground, her hand turned into meat and her arm, bread//

Ethnography
Posted 10 years agoBy far, the largest ethnic group on Xul are the Lech. The Lech inhabit most of the central continent having, in comparison to other cultures, the most advanced and industrial nations. Almost all ethnic groups on Xul have similar color patterns; their face and body are white but their hair, bob-tail and sometimes backs and arms are colored. Lech are brown and white coloration. The most notable Lech nation is of course Yugra. Yugra being the hub for trade and commerce and being the most liberal of all states, proudly showing off the success of their Social-Democratic state. The Yugra were the first to (re)develop combustion engines and found new was of creating buildings using steel, rather than traditional masonry. The Lech are even named after the capital city of Yugra, being the home of over 5 million people. The other important Lech nation is Eb, Yugra's neighbors to the east. Who are at odds with Yugra for being rather slow to industrialize and will do anything they can to ascend past Yugra's power.
The second largest ethnic group are the Uhgars. The Uhgars live in the north and west of the lands of Yugra. The Uhgars are known for having red and white coloration; expect for the Bolinustani [they will be discussed later]. The Uhgars are lumped together because of a similar culture. One that is less industrialized and stereotypically pushed below the standards of the Lech; but never-less Uhgaric groups stay strong to their heritage. The reason for their naming comes from their largest nation, Wuhgar to the far west; other notable Uhgar groups include the Kökestani and the Bolinustani. The Bolinustani did not have a nation of their own but rather are a people who lived within Kökestan. The Bolinustani were an anomaly. They did not have red and white coloration, nor did they even share a similar language. Bolinustani had a white-blonde speckled pattern, a pattern that no other people share. No other peoples even have the blonde hair/fur. The Bolinustani were also the tallest of all the ethnic groups. The reason for them being added to the Uhgar group is because they share a culture that is very similar to the others; maybe they were the originators of Uhgar culture [?] but sadly due to the Bolinustani genocide committed by the collaboration of Eb and Kökestan for shared interest in the oil under their land, no further studies into Bolinustani culture can be determined.

They are commonly stereotyped as being savage people, rejecting an modern technologies. They believe in modern rejection because they believe that there was a civilization that crossed the sea of stars and created people from dirt that soon fell to the wrath of god [the Chwaszyblynsk notably revered the Bolinustani as the star people and both feared and worshiped them]. While being stereotyped as primitive, life within a Chwaszyblysnk village is very good; an egalitarian people who have almost no history of warfare and treat all guests, even those who wish to push modernity on them, with respect.

Kazimir Devacacesi would become the last of the Bolinustani and a direct descendant of No. 180924609. God's decision to take Kazimir as its physical embodiment (after Kazi's suicide) would be in part the gift he inherited from No. 180924609, the gift of virgin birth. Kazimir was born intersex. Kazi once was pregnant with Władysław's child but it died during the fall of The Gamayun. It was here that God saw Kazimir's gift and directed his path. The death of the false prophet, death upon the heretic and the end of the corrupt mind, Helios. All which would led to Kazimir's death and rebirth in 1969."
