Help support a new artist and animator.
General | Posted a year agoI promise, I will not make a habit of this, but I feel this is one of the times worth stepping in and trying to help someone out.
There is a somewhat new artist on here named Marcprime95. He has been on for about a year, and working on an independent animation series on YouTube called Madtown.

It is an entertaining series, and worth supporting.
However, as tends to happen, Marcprime95 has gotten some hate and negative comments about his work, and these comments have gotten to him. It has left him upset, and feeling less enthusiastic about his work.
It is a feeling I am sure that many in the furry community, or of any creative outlet in these modern times, is familiar with.
As such, I am asking that others help him out, but showing their support. Both for his art, and for his series. Let him know that the people who care, and who enjoy his work, outnumber those that vocally complain about it. Watch the animations, like the artwork, put positive comments where you can.
Help prevent a young artist lose interest in something he loves so much.

Werewolf Transformation Animation
General | Posted 2 years agoA short animation about a policewoman transforming into a werewolf. There is a little more to it, of course, but that is the main part. Seems to be part of a bigger project the animator is working on. Still, it's a very impressive transformation animation to me.

Project: #spiderpride
General | Posted 3 years ago(Crossposting on all the art sites I'm a part of)
It's June, which means that it is Pride Month. It's also the month that "Spider-man: Across the Spiderverse" came out.
I bring it up because these two events are related to this journal.
See, after it's release, there are people who have headcanoned that Spiderverse's Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Gwen, is in fact a trans girl. Naturally, there have been negative responses to this, ranging from mocking the people who have come out with this headcanon, to mocking and insulting Sony for possibly including such thing as part of the "woke agenda."
So, to spite these people, I have decided to create project #spiderpride. The idea behind it is simple. Draw spider-people as part of LGBTQIA+ culture. Easiest way, and the way I was thinking initially, is to put their costumes in the colors of pride flags, but don't let me limit you. Show them wearing binders. Show them making out with other people. Give them gender surgery scars.
Just remember to tag it #spiderpride.
Let's piss off the phobes.

"Magical Boy"
General | Posted 4 years agoSo, on a more positive matter, and in line with this being Pride Month, I would like to share something I found recently.
A few days ago, while shopping, I found a graphic novel called "Magical Boy: Vol. 1" by The Kao. Curious, I picked it up, and recently just finished it.
The premise: Max Owen is a trans male, who on his sixteenth birthday, tries to come out to his parents. That same day, he learns that his maternal line (every woman on his mother's side of the family), is descended from a goddess of Light who defeated an evil being long ago, and that said descendants are a long line of "Magical Girls" that fight monsters and try to keep the evil sealed away. It also turns out that the monsters have returned, and it is now Max's turn to fight them as a "Magical Girl," much to his annoyance and frustration as he just wants to be a normal boy.
Overall, I found the story to be entertaining. There's some comedy (such as making fun of magical girl trope), some drama (especially between Max, who wants to be accepted as he is and just be a boy, and his mother, who wants him to be a great hero magical girl, which requires embracing and embodying all things feminine), and some touching moments. While I don't think it's a "theme," there does tend to be a trend where people are happier if they are allowed to be themselves and accepted as they are rather than trying to be what is expected of them.
Being cis, I can't well say how it does with the LGBT representation. Even the author and artist points out that Max's experiences with coming out are not universal for all trans males. However, I do catch some of the issues that trans people may face, such as: dead naming; being mistaken for the wrong gender despite efforts to present otherwise; and some persecution due to religious beliefs.
My one complaint with the book is sometimes the panel layout can be confusing. There are a few places where image panels and speech bubbles make it hard to know what order things are being said.
Otherwise, it's pretty entertaining, and might be worth picking up.
I should warn anyone interested, however, that the first book ends on a cliffhanger, and the second is not out yet. In fact, it is not due to be released until September. So, while I will encourage people to pick it up and help express a public interest in LGBT+ works, I would also understand if people wanted to wait and hopefully read the entire thing beginning to end.
Which reminds me: the story itself is complete. The entire series is on Tapas Web Comics. The prologue and first few chapters are available to the public, but the rest is locked and looks to require an account and subscription to read. So, if you would rather do that instead, it's an option.
Regardless of which you decide to do, I think that it is at least worth looking into. Hopefully some of you out there will enjoy it.

Markiplier plays a BBW rabbit mama
General | Posted 4 years agoA video of Markiplier playing a horror game called "The Man From the Window," where the playable character is a very large figured rabbit woman, trying to protect her son from the title character.
https://youtu.be/35gE6LtbLR0
Sharing for two reasons. One, it is a furry related game because of said rabbit. Two, a specific comment that indicates that Mark has never seen the "hyper" section of furry art before.

A Weird (but serious) Question
General | Posted 5 years agoI recently came across a sub-category of porn that is women humping women. Basically it has two cis women anywhere from completely naked to having their butts and crotches exposed, and one will hump the other, slapping her hips against the other woman's butt. So they are moving back and forth as though they are having sex with a penis, but none is there.
This leads me to a question. One I am asking the women out there.
Is this something that women could actually find pleasurable? From either aspect of it? Could someone derive pleasure by slapping and grinding their crotch against another person's butt, or by having their butt pressed into and ground against, but have no penetration? Is this something women would actually do with each other, or is it just pornographic fantasy?
Answers and feedback is appreciated.

Pesky muses.
General | Posted 13 years agoSo I thinking I understand why some artist, such as
Wolfkidd refer to their muse as a separate entity from them selves. It seems that there are times when the creative energies and ideas seem to have a mind of their own and differ from what an individual has in mind. This can be a bit of a nuisance at times, more so when you get really inspired by an idea even though you wanted to work on something else.
"I think I'm going to work on this."
"No. Work on this instead."
"But I... crap. Alright, looks like I have no choice in the matter"
"Good boy."

General | Posted 13 years agoDook is now on Tumblr
General | Posted 14 years agoFor those few who have checked out my youtube account are aware that I have made several videos are aware and somewhat familiar with the character of Dook Bandit from the series "Ask A Ferret" You may also be aware that I have not done any videos in a while.
While it is kind of fun, I have decided to have Dook change venues. It doesn't seem to be a very popular video, and I don't feel motivated to put the effort in the video. I will try to keep making videos with my puppets, but not ask a ferret
In the meantime, Dook is now on Tumblr. If someone does still want to ask him something then all they have to do is type it up (anonymous questions are allowed):

supporting a friend and spreading the word about his work
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, I'm helping a friend out a little by spreading the news. He has self-published his first manga style book through Lulu. I saw the first several chapters when he was working on them, and it seems pretty interesting. You can see about and order it here: http://www.lulu.com/product/paperba.....litch/15150152 . If it seems like something you would like, give it a try. You would be helping a new talent.
Non-Furry Writing News
General | Posted 15 years agoI have a short story that's going to be published. *Jumps up and down excitedly* Wicked East Press is putting one of my stories in their anthology "Hannibal's Manor" I'm not going to be getting paid for it unfortunately, but they are giving me a free copy of the book ^-^
Spreading the Ire
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, something unexpected happened to me on Sofurry. Someone actually favorited one of my journal posts there. I had actually forgotten about this a little, but it still seems valid even if I do need to go back and fix some errors. Having been reminded of it, I decided, I'd share a link to it here. It's basically a rant against someone bitching about how their writing is unappreciated.

Help Name a Character (Pirate Ferret)
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, I have a story idea I've been kicking around for a while now, and I would like to try and get started on it. In order to do it, however, I need some help. I need a name for the main character. It's to be a female ferret, who is a pirate and the leader of a ship full of ferret pirates (the carpet shark?). Only problem is I don't know what to name the main character. If you have any ideas for a good name of a female ferret, who happens to be a pirate, please let me know. I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance
Mainstream writing
General | Posted 15 years agoThis fall I went back to college and took a creative writing course. I actually feel a little more confident in my writing now because of it and hopefully have found some ways to improve my work.
While I have written quite a bit on SoFurry, formerly yiffstar, such would not be appropriate for the class, so I have written some other things more mainstream.
A result is that I now have written things that can be published outside the furry community. I am sharing this because I have actually submitted a story several weeks ago, and today got an email.
I made it to the short list. It's not the same as actually getting published yet, but it is a step closer. Here's hoping.

Ask a Ferret Needs YOUR Help
General | Posted 16 years agoSo those that keep up and read my journal regularly (and I thank you for that) know that i have been working on a video series on YouTube called "Ask A Ferret" Well so far I have had only one question sent so far. I've been working to make the videos anyway but it is a bit of a struggle.
So I need your help. I need you to send me questions to use in the series. I can't really keep coming up with ways to fill in the weekly slot without some actual questions to use.
This weeks was taken care of with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZW2BCjfVHA but I need material to start planning for next week. The sooner I can get some questions, the more I would appreciate it since I could start working on it.
Thank you.
