MFF!
General | Posted 10 years agoIt's good to be here at a furry con. I haven't been to enough of those. Love 'em, though!
Anyway, I'm here! Woo! (Was also here yesterday!) AND I did a journal meme thing in my previous journal, if that is of any interest to ya:

MFF Memething
General | Posted 10 years agoWas layin in bed, and figured I may as well fill this out. Maybe someone might even be interested in knowing the answer to one of these questions... Maybe...
Where are you staying?
With a local cutie~ :3c
What day are you getting there?
Thursday!
Who will you be rooming with?
Won't be in a hotel room
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
As many people as possible, but preferably whoever I can find that knows me or vice versa. n.=.n I've no objection to meeting new people, though!
How can I find you?
Oo uhm... You could ask where I am on Twitter! That would probably be the best way.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
WHAT ARE THOSE???
Are you attending any stage or public performances?
I have no idea what goes on at this con, but I heard it was a good one, and I am just excited to be attending ok?? As of yet I have no plans at all once I'm there, and that's fine with me.
Will you be suiting?
A Dessy suit might be cute...but none exists. ;c
Which suit(s) are you bringing?
I have none. u.=.u
Do you draw?
Yeah don't you see all the amazing art in my gallery here?!
(read: Nnnnnnnnope. :D)
Are you taking commissions or trades?
What would anyone even commission me to do? I have no talents. :c I can write decently I guess, but I generally prefer not to, and I find sculpting from clay to be fun...but I can't scarcely imagine doing it in my house... .o.
How old are you?
21
How tall are you?
5'10.5"
Can I talk to you?
DEFINITELY. PLEASE DO. I might run around a lot, though. I generally alternate between two modes at cons:
I attach myself temporarily to a person or group
and
I wander around aimlessly by myself, sorts hoping to spot people I know or at least know OF.
Can I touch you?
Yeah, I guess. But please try to be as uncreepy as possible about it. Unless we are already super close: then you have my permission to be super creepy about it, as long as we can laugh it off afterwards. c:
Can I visit your room?
I have no room
Can I buy you drinks?
That would be cool. Getting me drunk could be a fun adventure, but I might become a bit annoying when drunk. I am not entirely sure, though, as I haven't been drunk very many times.
Can I give you stuff?
Uhm... I- if you really want to? O.//.O
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Yeah man that's my JAM.
What’s your goal for the con this year?
I GOTTA... LIKE... CHILL WITH AWESOME PEOPLE AND HAVE SO MUCH FUN. ;U; That's really all there is to it for me.
Are you nice?
I'm doin my IRL genocide run. For those of you who play Undertale...
But srsly... You're welcome to judge that for yourself. All I can do is try.
How long are you going?
My plane leaves the town around 1 on Monday.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Just say "DO PARDON ME, MY GOOD SIR." Also doff your hat.
Where will you be most of the time during the days?
Noooo idea. Surely at the con, though~
What/where will you be eating?
Hopefully good food! I s'pose I am in need of recommendations!
Can I come with you for food/fun etc?
Idk! Probably? Context is everything, but I'm generally pretty welcoming.
Can I take your picture?
Idunno... CAN YOU?? :O

I've Left Nearly 20,000 Comments
General | Posted 10 years agoI wonder what percentage of them are me actually talking to people, and what percentage of them are me saying how great a given picture is or how happy it makes me.
I'll never know, but I find it interesting to think about, and either way I really am glad I haven't been a silent member of this community. After all, I've met some pretty cool people right here in this website. :3

Porn: Stories or Artwork?
General | Posted 10 years agoI'm under the impression that most users of this site fap, and do so on like a semi-regular basis. After all, most of the most watched users on this site post a lot of porn. It's fairly common knowledge that many of the artists I watch draw high volumes of pornographic work.
However, as porn goes, there are also a lot of very skilled writers out there making stuff which, while perhaps not as flashy, can be just as impressive as some of the better visual media on this site.
Unfortunately, with only a few exceptions—and specifically with regard to what I consult if I'm alone and horny—I never read stories. I tend to only view artwork. ^^';
I was wondering how common that is, and if there are many people who prefer a good story to a well-rendered scene. :3
How about you?
P.S. SFW things can be porn, too; when I say porn here I mean any media you might seek out in order to fap to.

TMI Tuesday?
General | Posted 10 years agoWell it's Tuesday, and I never really do these, but if anyone had any questions they were burning to ask me and hadn't asked yet for whatever reason...
...Here is a good opportunity to ask!
I suppose I'll answer anything that wouldn't represent a security risk (SSN, Credit Card #, Passwords)

How many close friends can someone have?
General | Posted 10 years agoYou can only be "close" with so many people at a given time. It's a sort of melancholy thing, but it's reality. Sometimes the people with the most friends and who know everyone actually have less close friends than someone who only even knows a couple dozen people. How many people you are capable of being really close to at once also surely varies from person to person.
It's really sad when you realize someone you considered a close friend really doesn't think of you as very close at all. :/ Has that happened to you?
The closer I am to someone, and the more I care about someone, the more vulnerable and sensitive I am to their words and actions. Most people in the world are barely able to affect me with anything they say or do. At some stages of my life, though, there have been people who could turn my world upsidedown with a phrase...or by not talking to me at all.
I'm sure not everyone is like that, but I had some of this on my mind. I was interested in how other people felt about these things. I'm here to listen if you want to share anything.
Do you feel that you have a lot of friends? Do you have a good amount of close ones that you rely on? Do you think those people feel the same way about you? ^^'

Puzzle & Dragons!
General | Posted 10 years agoThe phone game may be old new, but I picked it up a little over two weeks ago, and I've been addicted to it since! X3
So many cute critters, and way more immersive than other phone games you might compare to it—especially other match-three types, such as Candy Crush.
I've somehow gotten to rank 94 in these two weeks, which I think it's fast. It ought to be, considering how much I've played.
If you haven't played it, consider doing so because I highly recommend it!
If you have played, isn't it great?! ^.=.^
If you play currently, my friend code is:

Help! What colour is Dessy?
General | Posted 10 years agoDessy has been drawn in a number of different colours now. The general consensus so far seems to be that he is some kind of desaturated purple-ish colour.
I'm curious as to which one, though. My current icon, for one thing, I would say is a little toooo purple (saturated) to be Dessy's true colour.
To make this issue more real: I would like to get a fursuit at some point hopefully not TOO far in the future, and Dessy's colour is something I need to be very confident in.
I'm looking for opinions! I was curious, of the pictures I have posted, is there a certain colour that you think Dessy looks best in? You can offer hex codes, but you don't have to! Also feel free to suggest colours that aren't quite well-represented in my gallery if you like. :3
Please and thank you! <33

General | Posted 10 years agoFor all the hugs and support in response to my last journal.
I'm hurting in ways only time can heal, but you guys have helped me feel better. It's really nice to know that when you need it, there are a lot of people out there ready to reach out to you, whether with just a small kindness or everything they have to offer. I feel lucky.
I don't know where I'd be without the wonderful people in my life...
Thanks. <3

ANTHROCON 2015 - RECAP
General | Posted 10 years agoMy time at Anthrocon this year was easily one of the best times I have ever had in my life. I arrived there on Thursday and left on Monday, and every moment in between was precious.
For me, the best part of the con is the simple joy of being surrounded by tons of interesting people that generally have a number of common interests with you. Getting to live in a furry world like that for even just a few days is a really special treat!
Just as awesome and exciting to me is the display of creativity and artistry the con provides: there is never any shortage of magnificent and impressive work to see. Whether it's the fursuits, the art show, merch in the Dealers' Den, work in Artist Alley, or something else entirely, there's always something amazing to admire. I was finding myself floored by the stuff I saw with great consistency. In a good way!
I couldn't be much more satisfied with how my con went. The whole thing for me was this perfect mix of meeting new people, running into friends, and turning acquaintances into friends. I also got to meet a number of artists that I really admired--and I still do admire them, of course!
Now, I want to give a disclaimer here, because I already know I won't remember or be able to link every single person who helped make my con awesome. There were just too many of you for that, and my memory isn't perfect. I'm also writing this in one sitting without dwelling on it.
Some of the amazing artists that I already really loved and ran into during the con include:
kuroodod,
sprout,
sparkythechu,
nommz,
locosaltinc,
smoot,
oselotti,
blondevelvet,
tartii and MORE! I also ran into cownugget briefly, who still owes me art from LAST Anthrocon.
I don't mean to play favourites here, but I will say there were two particular artists I was ESPECIALLY happy to finally meet:
strega was one of the artists responsible for even leading me here to the furry fandom, which I must admit I originally found through my interest in vore. I've been an extremely long-time follower of his awesome work, and it was a pleasure to finally get to say hello in person.
werdna250250, also known as Carrot, is the other amazing artist I want to give special mention to. Before the con, I already considered him one of my best buds, but I'd never gotten to meet him in real life! Hanging out with him during the con was seriously everything I could have hoped it would be! He even said I acted exactly the same way in real life as I do online, which I was super glad to hear; that's something I strive for! We spent a lot of time chilling together, and in doing so I got to meet a few other really cool fuzzies that were part of the Carrot posse. x3 I mostly mean to refer to ClandestineRendezvous , Sawolf151 , and Jakebluepaw
The only person I ended up commissioning at the con was
katusedcharm! She did a really awesome job, and drew me something super duper cute! <3 It's one more thing I really gotta upload. n.=.n!
(THERE WERE MORE AWESOME ARTISTS BUT I THINK I CAN ONLY MAKE 12 ICONS WITH NAMES! and I didn't wanna get fancy and stuff)
I also managed to meet up with a bunch of other friends, artists and otherwise. It was so nice getting to see so many familiar names on badges (a good number of the actual faces I was seeing for the first time). I can't mention EVERY friend I was happy to meet at the con, and I hope they all agree that gettin together in real life was super awesome, but there are at least a couple people I think deserve shoutouts.
h-fox was there and I got to see him several times during the con! I saw him at AC last year for the actual first time, but it didn't make this time any less special. He is one of the first friends I made in the fandom, so getting to hang out with him in real life after all these years is really gratifying. Not only is he just as cute as the day I met him, but being online friends with someone for years and years and then getting to be friends face to face really does feel like such a step up in life. :3
On the subject of old friends, patthecat is another of the first friends I made in the fandom. For a loooong time I had a huuuuge crush on him. I still do really care about the guy! <3 >///o Anyway, I met him briefly in real life years ago, and again briefly at AC last year. However, it wasn't until this year that I finally got to spend some real time with him and even got to snuggle with him for a while in the Westin. ^//^ It was super nice. These are the kinds of good memories I'll never lose.
Running the video game room again this year were iambgs and his lovely hubby! BGS doesn't really use FA as far as I know, but I wanted to mention how awesome he is here all the same. I met him last year at the previous AC. He hosts Magic: The Gathering cube drafts at these Furry Cons. His cube is a gigantic masterpiece!
I roomed in the Renaissance with rechner and spiff84 , who are this really cute local couple and really good, close friends of mine. Two others came in the car with us but didn't room with us, including gmnchampion , a reasonably new fur who has come a long way in exploring the fandom and himself, and zephbluelight , who is super duper cute!
While I enjoyed meeting tons of old friends (and recent ones, actually) throughout the convention, in some cases I had an even better time meeting people who were only just acquantances of mine, and turned out to be loads of fun to hang out with! ^-^ It was particularly enjoyable due to the surprise nature of how really cool people I barely knew or only really knew OF could turn out to be! :3! There were a few such cases, but I will drop the name of ClandestineRendezvous again, even though he doesn't like using this site any more! >3> Also artie fits that bill!
I really hope no one is offended that I didn't mention them by name! I'm not writing a book here. u3u If you and I had a great time meeting at Anthrocon, hopefully you know that and I don't have to tell you~<3 ;P
To wrap this up I just wanna say that I really hope I run into you awesome people next year at AC! ^.=.^ <333

Fur The 'More? Magic: The Gathering?
General | Posted 10 years agoTwo questions:
1. Who among you might I expect to see at Fur The 'More?
2. Who among you plays Magic?
If both apply to you, that's awesome, coz I'll probably be playing some Magic at Fur The More! :3
Also, I do realize I have been AWOL from FA...and the whole internet—except Twitter, kind of ironically—and that is because nearly 100% of my otherwise free time has been devoted to doing things with people in person. I still luv yoo guys. :3

The "Sidebar"
General | Posted 10 years agoI'm okay with the inclusion of ads. Letting IMVU plug an ad seems more than fair, all things considered. Considering how many people are running adblock, I'd say that makes it even less to ask.
However, the primary activity on this site is viewing images. The addition of the sidebar makes that more difficult, taking up screen real estate that used to be occupied solely by images. :/ As such, the images are now smaller, and viewing them in full res—and viewing them in genral, really—is now more difficult.
I feel like we'd all be pretty okay with this by comparison if they just didn't put the ad in a place that, while still highly visible, didn't detract or obstruct from what the site it being used for... Which is sharing and viewing content. :c

This is the only journal I'm making for the occasion (I won't be making one tomorrow), though, so if you wanna wish me your best, I suppose now's the time! :3
I guess I turn 21 in less than four hours now, which is pretty cool. I'm less concerned with the fact that America says I can now go get drunk somewhere than the fact that this has been a big year for me all around.
As I said in a previous journal, I suppose now is a proper time to reflect on my year, in these last few moments I have in this world as a twenty-year-old.
Get ready, coz I'm gonna ramble a bit about my boring life. x3

Jumping back to one year ago, I was still taking courses at my local community college. I started college at the University of Arizona in Tucson, but the only thing that enabled that was the scholarship I had access to as a National Merit Scholar. The scholarship required that I maintain at least a B average to continue receiving that financial aid. For a number of reasons, come the end of the year, I did not manage to pull that off, lost my scholarship, and found myself continuing my education the next year at Northern Virginia Community College.
As good as I generally am at accepting things and taking them in stride, especially if they're my fault, I was at first reeling and dejected at this enormous failure. After all, that scholarship was the first huge opportunity I'd had in life--awarded to me in recognition of my merit, no less--and I blew it! D: More important to me even than the big financial advantage was the chance to spend four whole years hundreds of miles and several states away from my oppressive parents and out from under the roof of the home I'm still stuck living in today.
On the whole, though, that year attending school in Arizona had been a pretty good one. I even had irl furry friends for the first time in my life while I was there. Looking back now, I don't think I really regret things going the way they did, because my life has turned out pretty well since.
I didn't finish my 2-year degree that spring. I was taking it kind of slow, and I ended up completing the degree during the following summer semester instead. After that I had my Associate's in Computer Science.
While I was attending classes, I worked part time at a math tutoring franchise called Mathnasium. I worked there even after graduating from NVCC, and continued to do so until I began working at my current job. My boss at Mathnasium was really cool. She was really funny and quirky, and ended up moving to England to be with her boyfriend around the time I stopped working there. I have seen so many long distance relationships fail--especially here in the furry fandom--so it was really very heartwarming to see one work out like that. I was so happy for them. :3
After a few months of job searching, I had been hired at an open house I went to. I must have made a good impression, said the right things, spoken to the right people--it was pretty lucky. I'm not paid nearly as much as I would have been if I was hired coming out of school with a four year degree, but getting my foot in the door of a company like this was really just what I needed. Nevertheless, even today I feel like I'm under-qualified for this job and I'm in over my head...and the amount of stress that has caused me and periodically still causes me is enormous! ;-; It doesn't help that getting up in the morning and going to bed relatively early feels like it's slowly killing me: I have never ever been a morning person, and not being able to be my natural, night-owl self really sucks. >w<
Still though, I don't take my good fortune for granted in this. I am gainfully employed, with good benefits--which is important, because my father was finally laid off from his job after 20 years. I am on my own insurance. Thankfully, it's not all that expensive...except for my car insurance. My car insurance is painfully expensive. D: However, that's the other big thing apart from my job: Owning my own car! Buying my very first car was really gratifying. It felt like another big step forward. Hopefully the next step can be moving out. Being tied to this job I'm lucky to have, I can't go very far, but not living in my parents' house is probably what I want more than anything in this world. Hopefully I'll get a raise or something.
That about brings us up to date on how my life has progressed! Another exciting side effect of this new-found financial stability is the fact that I'll likely be attending a handful of cons this year, as well as many in years to come, I hope! :3!!
At present I'm looking into returning to school to take one or two classes at a time until I finish a 4 year degree. It will probably take a long time, and be stressful and time-consuming beyond the full-time job I've only just gotten used to scheduling my life around...but I think it will reflect well on me as an employee to be furthering my education. Plus, part of my benefits will be paying for classes (provided I get B's, heh).
That's about all the news I have. :3 Fur the 'More is coming up, isn't it? It's pretty close to me. I will almost definitely be there--I have already registered even~ ;D Hopefully I'll see a few of you there?
Thanks for reading. I'm amazed if you got this far...<3! :'3

Nuked Journals!
General | Posted 10 years agoI've been having trouble keeping up with everything on this site, but Journals are the hardest thing to keep up with by far! x-x
I am a very slow reader, and I am watching a lot of people, and I just haven't been on this site very much compared to before. I try to at least skim the titles of whatever is present when I visit my notifications page, and delete the ones I read, but when I get to 2,700+ journals like I was at today, I figure it's better to start over and see if I can stay on top of them for a while again. I am sooo sorry if I missed important journals of yours, and you were hoping I'd be one of the people to see them. :C I am certain I missed a number of big ones that I would have liked to see...
Recently my free time has been going to both the manga and anime of Tokyo Ghoul, which was pretty good. I finished that, though. I have also still been playing a lot of Old School RuneScape. I'm terrible at balancing my use of time. I'm usually binging or obsessing over one thing or another. It's pretty terrible.
In other news, Game of Thrones starts up again tonight! That's kind of exciting. I read all of the books, and I'm not big on non-anime television shows, but some aspects of the show have really impressed me. The casting, for example, has been phenomenal since the beginning. I will admit I didn't even watch the last two episodes of the previous season. Maybe I'll watch them now before the new season premier airs. ^^'

Happy Easter and Thank You
General | Posted 10 years agoEaster is a holiday with heavy ties to a really cute critter. Who doesn't love bunnies? ^-^
'Course, I've had to spend all weekend with family, so I've not been online much recently for that and other reasons. Sorry my journals always seem to contain excuses for not being around... u.=.u
To me, though. Most of the people who are really a support structure and family to me are the lovely furry friends I have—many of which I was lucky enough to meet right here on this site.
I wish I could just spend my hoidays—and as much other time as possible—with you guys. Thank you for all the joy you've brought to my life over these years. <3
Love you guys,
~Dessy

You May Have Noticed/Terry Pratchett
General | Posted 11 years agoYou may have noticed the sharp decline in my activity on this website. As warned in my previous journal, I sort of expected that to happen. I have been playing too much Old School RuneScape, and possibly watching too much anime. The two are related, as there are many things I can do on RuneScape while still reading subtitles.
However, my socialization outside of RuneScape, and my activity on here and Skype seem to have rather suffered. I would like to apologize to anyone who may have been trying to get ahold of me and failing. Hopefully this journal reaches at least one such person.
I do intend to reply to all notes and comments. I'm not sure if I can reply to all Skype messages, though. It takes a lot more time that I don't necessarily ever have. Responding to 30 notes at once is ok because most people won't reply right away, and most of the ones who do won't expect an immediate reply on your part. If I respond to 30 missed Skype messages, though, by the end of that I have at least thirty Skype windows open and at least half of those people were probably online.
Having 15+ conversations at once means doing nothing else...probably for the rest of the night. I prefer not to consign myself to that most nights. I also find it frustrating that, due to the nature of small talk, many of those conversations end up with a lot of overlapping content... x.o Some days I have more patience for that than others.
I really do enjoy talking to people, and I cannot stress enough how much it means to me and how much I appreciate that there are friends and acquaintances and perhaps some fans that want to talk to me for various reasons... ^=^ Thank you. I may be bad at staying on top of it, but it does mean a lot to me, and having a bunch of people trying to reach you is much better than having no one. I've certainly been there, too. ;c </3
I will try to make a point to show my appreciation for you guys a little more. I will play a little less OSRS and watch a little less anime. Actions speak louder than words I guess...even if those actions involve speaking words... Huh. :/

In other news... The famous author Terry Pratchett died last week on March 12th at the age of 66. His life's contributions to the world of fantasy reached many, and will surely reach many more. My love for the Discworld books is hard to match.
Pratchett had announced all the way back in December 2007 that he was suffering from early-onset Alzheimer's disease (in his 50's!). It must have been terrible for him to suffer so long from that disease after such a productive career as an author—something he obviously had to give up on because of his condition. He did actually film a television programme for the BBC documenting his experiences with the disease, and donated a lot of money toward its research.
I highly recommend any of the books set in Discworld. They are highly entertaining, clever, funny, and adventurous.
Those of you who do not read may consider watching one of the two movies that have been made from books in that series. Of those I have only seen The Colour of Magic, but I thought it was very good!
Terry Pratchett, you lived a great life. You will be remembered... u.=.u
