Artist/Computer Security Warning - Wallpart

So, I have been notified by several people about pages of Peter & Company and other pieces of my artwork being supposedly "available for sale" through Wallpart.com, and in the past 24 hours have seen many other artists make journals/submissions talking about finding their own work on there as well. Naturally, the inclination of any artist finding their work available for sale without their consent is to head to the "Report Violation" link attached to every listing and file a complaint to have it removed.
PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT DO THIS ON WALLPART.COM'S WEBSITE.
I've dug into their site code and reviewed some audits that were performed by other folks in various places online who were aware of this site's existence, and there's some very devious bait-and-switch going on. Essentially:
- They are not actually selling any of the images that appear on their site. Their "search function" is nothing but scraper software, which essentially just loads up hits from Google Images and displays them within a pre-built "shop" template based on the image's resolution. This is why every single piece on there has a title that is lifted directly from whatever gallery site (FA/DA/Weasyl) or general website was hosting it. Example: They have my title card from my Kickstarter page for the P&C pilot, with the title lifted straight off the description.
- The dependence on Google Images is also why doing a search for your own name will turn up different results each time, or possibly no results at all. Their "search" function never actually searches their own listings, because they have none. Confusingly enough, performing the same search multiple times often returns different results at different times throughout the day. I was able to find dozens of P&C pages supposedly for sale by searching my name yesterday, but today none of them show up in search results -- even though the direct links to the page forms (which I saved) still exist.
- Their "Report Violation" link is actually a 100% phishing form. If you fill it out, no matter what you put there, you will be sending them a LOT more than you anticipated. This is actually the main purpose for the site's existence -- they completely anticipate artists being upset about their work supposedly being sold, so they developed a system to exploit those who complain.
- Various pieces of malware and other malicious code have been found embedded throughout their pages at different times. This site is just bad news all around.
- The site itself is hosted in Russia, and has already swapped web hosts 4 times in the past few months. The current host is listed as ENOM, and other bloggers/artists have already sent complaints and reports to their contact page, with little luck. It looks like it's already been branded and caught in the past and is trying to keep itself alive.
- Also, for a site claiming to have "billions of images" available for print, to only have a little over 3,000 "happy customers" should be a pretty big red flag on its own.
So please -- DO NOT EVEN VISIT THIS SITE. Do not give it page views, and most absolutely DO NOT FILL OUT ANY VIOLATION FORMS, EVEN IF THE ARTWORK ON THE PAGE IS YOUR OWN. Instead, there is a Change.org petition (https://www.change.org/p/remove-wal.....ut-persmission) asking for the domain to be stripped and brought down.
Please share the word around as much as possible so other artists don't potentially fall into their trap by thinking that their "Report Violation" page is actually what it claims to be. These people are pure scam artists, plain and simple. Avoid them at all costs.

Posted 13 years agoI've had cats almost my entire life, and seeing something like this happen to what could be considered a family member is nothing but savage and saddening.

I would like to ask anyone who would like to help out my sister and I.
As of last Wednesday 24th October my sisters cat Micka was savagely beaten by an unknown person
As a result the poor little guy has had to get one eye removed, has a fractured socket in the other, a fractured jaw and is being syringe fed until he can eat by himself.
The vet has said that it was no accident or a fight with another cat/dog as there was no bite/scratch marks on him, he has only sustained injuries to his head and given the injuries she said he was beaten with a hard object and it was a miracle that he managed to get away from his attacker and survive with the extent of his injuries.
My 5 year old niece had found him and was deeply traumatised by the sight as he looked terrible.
The vet bill for his eye removal, 5 days at the vet hospital, having a xray, and the cost meds etc has come to $805.00.
There is no way my sister can afford to pay such a large bill, having 2 kids and a house to pay off she barely makes do as it is =/

Searching: Artist to Commission

In a week or so I will be getting my first check from my first fulltime job, and I would like to commission someone to draw a character or two for me. I have some ideas, but the people I would like to commission are most likely extraordinarily busy, so I was wondering if anyone had any great artists to recommend. :3

Gaming Challenge: Looking for inspiration!
Posted 14 years agoIt occured to me during the beginning of the year that I have a shit-ton of games, and yet I haven't had a solid playthrough of large majority of the games. So with that, I made a New Years resolution to at least do one full storyline-playthrough of at least 1/2 my console library. I have at least 25 games on PC through Steam, and I'd rather not focus on that library, as I'll be tempted to just hop on TF2 and make my playhours reach 1k (Currently 720).
That said, I won't be touching many of the older games I own, simply because my more current library is so large. I will probably be focusing on PS2/PS3/360 library. Might move onto the rather limited Wii/Gamecube library after that, with PC games in between the console games just to break up the monotony.
So now I get to the hard part: Deciding what games to play through. While I don't have a library nearly as large as AVGN or some other gaming fanatics, I still have a large library to get through, most of it on the PS2. So, I will be posting a list of my games that I currently own, not including games that I have had a playthrough on, in hopes of gaining some inspiration on what games to finish.
Current score of games I own and have beaten just this year: 5, and all of these were PS3/360 games.

Insomnia
Posted 15 years agoI figure I might as well ask here, as most people here I'm sure are up all night either through choice or otherwise. Lately I have been suffering from what seems to be insomnia, as when I go to bed it takes a long time to get to sleep, and sometimes it takes me up to 5-6 hours. I've thought about sleeping medication, but with my heart problems I don't want to risk it till I've had a checkup (I'm supposed to have them every 2 years, but I've missed my last 2 checkups). Any suggestions for "curing" insomnia? It is starting to affect my schooling and work.

Posted 15 years agoWell, normally I don't state much about this, as it is a given truth: Furries know drama. However, recent events concerning a very popular furry artist has actually made me laugh. I'm sure a lot of people have heard of Jessica Elwood. A lot of the drawings were great, and not a lot of drama . . .till the past few days. Look up her . . .I mean his, DA page and Encyclopedia Dramatica page . . . . Hopefully you'll see the humor in this and chuckle. Especially considering ED is a site "for the lulz" and nothing more. Granted, trollz are usually more annoying than funny, but in this case, I believe it's an exception.

Used Windows Live Movie Maker, took me several hours. TF2 fans will either laugh (like my roomy) or be disgusted. Either way, I'm proud of myself for actually getting one of my AMV ideas done.

Finally got my comp (much to the relief of my roommates who have had to listen to my excited and constant ramblings ^^;;)
Thought I lost my card while out but turns out my roomy and ex-roomy snuck it in my wallet when they found it in the living room last night. On less thing to worry about.
Random bout of Paranoia/Depression that was really, really weird, and still hanging around a bit in the form of my dad's unexplainable crabbyness (which I'm afraid I've inherited x.x)
And lastly, finally, FINALLY getting the final draft of the first chapter of my webcomic idea done, just doing a few tweaks since I'm constantly changing it between a sci-fi fantasy or steampunk fantasy mix. x.x

Posted 15 years agoI recently came into some money, just enough to finally get myself a laptop, but am currently at a loss for ideas on what to get. Only thing I know for sure is I want it to be under $500 except tax. Have found some good ones, but want to see if anyone has any suggestions on what to look for. (I've already checked Best Buy, eBay, and Newegg)
