Genus returns!
General | Posted 10 years agoI had thought the furry comic series Genus had ended some time ago as I haven't seen a new issue in well over a year.
But lo and behold I stopped into my local comic shop and a new issue was in my pull!!
Oh happy day! XD

Jurassic World
General | Posted 10 years agoJust got back from seeing Jurassic Park with my dad for my birthday/father's day and I have to say the movie was pretty epic. We saw it on the 3D Xtreme which def added to the experience. It moved at good pace and the storyline was decent.
I do have to admit I liked the first one better but this is def my second fave of the series and Chris Pratt was murry purry as usual. He still had that Star-Lord swagger XD.

Evolution vs Creationism
General | Posted 10 years agoLet me begin by saying I am a very open minded husky and in no way wish to offend anyone's beliefs or religion.
Recently I have been discussing creationism with a friend at work to which he gave me a copy of a magazine called Answers....I really didn't find any answers in it and rather found more questions as it just went round and round and skirted the issue rather than give full evidence to their defense of creationism.
Case in point was the section on the Allosaurus remains found in a sedimentary layer below the T-rex and other dino's.....uhm if all dinosaurs died during the great flood why wouldn't they be on the same sedimentary layer?!??!?
I asked him if that was all the case that the great flood killed them all off then what about the sea creatures?!?!? They wouldn't drown after all. He came back with the flood causing global cooling and that led to death of many of the sea creatures leading to aquatic famine thus reducing the number of larger sea creatures. Why would the entire planet go into an ice age just from flooding? Many of the water mass would still be in warm tropical areas.
I don't even......
I'm a very curious canine and always wanna read any and all views in this regard so I am always on the hunt for info.

And a legend passes.....
General | Posted 10 years agoJust got home and seen that Christopher Lee passed away. As an avid horror fan I've seen so many of his movies and was a fan of even his non horror films.
He was a definite legend when it comes to actors and will be duly missed.

Jungle Jack Hanna
General | Posted 10 years agoWe got to see the man in khaki's himself today at the Columbus, Ohio zoo! Very rare occasion to see him among the patrons but there he was in the koala bear exhibit with what must have either been friends or family members.
What many of you may not know is that he transformed a lack luster zoo that was in trouble into one of the top five zoo's in the US. It truly is an amazing zoo now coming from a person who saw what it was before.

Mad Max: Fury Road
General | Posted 10 years agoWhat more can I say other than THIS MOVIE FUCKING ROCKED!!! I was on the edge of my seat through most of it. High on action and thrills this ranks right up there with the second Mad Max film: The Road Warrior as one of my fave films!
The effects were pretty epic especially the Doof Warriors guitar vehicle. Most notably in that there was little CGI and mostly just special effects. The vehicles felt like they belong right there with the original films and and Tom Hardy was really great as Max.

And the Darwin award for worst bonfire goes to..
General | Posted 10 years ago I was on my way to work the other day when I saw a huge amount of smoke rolling through the sky and then I saw the lights and thought "Oh damn someone's house is on fire!!!"
As I got closer I could see several fire trucks in the field, an ambulance and a cop car.....yep you guessed it someone burned their trash pile in the back of the yard near a corn field setting the dry stalks on fire and scorching several acres before it was put out.
The owner was in the yard with his head down clearly embarrassed and all I could think at this point was that's gonna be one helluva fine and worse depending on what he was burning.

Old movies.
General | Posted 11 years agoJust got done watching another old comedy I liked when I was a kid. Started off with the 1985 film Stitches and it was as funny as remember. However just got done watching the 1979 movie Meatballs and I was just like "Uh this show just has no purpose what the hell did I remember?!?!??!"
You are so cheap!!
General | Posted 11 years agoHello one and all from Illinois! We're visiting the ever awesome dragon Cesilan for the holidays cuz he is the awesomeness and more like family than our own family.
The trip started with a stop at Kroger (a grocery chain in Ohio) where I filled teh tank for $1.89 a gallon....yes that is no typo boys and girls hella cheap!!! Filled the tank for $27!!
We got underway and the trip was somewhat uneventful. However the directions from Google Maps took us through some back roads and small towns which turned out to be a bad thing as I feel the rough roads were the leading cause of the tire eventually blowing out.
Thankfully the area where it happened was relatively safe to fully pull over out of traffic and not far from a gas station so bad thing becomes not so bad due to good fortunes.
A few hours later we arrive at Cessi's house where upon arriving we head back out for food noms and caffeine!! Dinner eaten and showers taken we exchange gifts and cards. I got GOTG and Godzilla 2014 on Blu-Ray WOO!!!
The trip has just started and we're gonna spend the next five days taking in the sights and enjoying a much missed time with our bro!

I accidentally knocked over my TB external and now it won't boot up. >_< ;-;

Life is too short.
General | Posted 11 years agoMonday was an unusual day for me. When I got home I had a message from a former classmate that another classmate of ours had killed himself.
I fell out of touch with him over the years but we were pretty good buds in the day having lived just up the road from each other. I had a weird numb feeling about it all not quite crying sad but still a loss just the same as the thought of I can now never rekindle that friendship.
And then this was the next thing I heard about http://www.nbc4i.com/story/27351043.....d-in-burnt-car
This story actually happened just up the road and I seen the tail end of it when I was on my way home.

Laptop issues please help.
General | Posted 11 years agoApparently my new laptop doesn't have the DVD burning software my desktop did and I can't seem to find it online. Can anyone help? Anyone know of a good burning program that doesn't cost a fortune?
Gone too soon.
General | Posted 11 years agoJust read that Wayne Static has died of a possible overdoes. Sucks Static X was one of my fave bands.

Richard Kiel you shall be missed.
General | Posted 11 years agoI just read that Richard "Jaws" Kiel passed away. Though not a widely popular actor he had many memorable roles that I greatly enjoyed.
Most memorable to me was in Cannonball Run II where he drove the Subaru with Jackie Chan. Far far too funny as was his role in Happy Gilmore.
RIP big guy!

Calling all Tom and Jerry Fans!
General | Posted 11 years agoI've been trying like crazy to complete my Tom and Jerry Collection and have managed all except the 1980 series The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show. If any fur out there could help this husky would greatly appreciate it even if it is to just pass the word along in another journal of your own.
I remember watching these as a kid and it's been great fun tracking down a lot of the old cartoons I used to watch.

General | Posted 11 years agoJust got back from watching Guardians of the Galaxy and all I can say is.......BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!
R.I.P. Liander you shall be missed.
General | Posted 11 years agoI bought 3 male rats from the pet store a little over a year ago and they have been the sweetest rats I have ever known. We put a 4th boy in with him not long ago and they immediately took to him as one their group (he has sadly passed since this) and not once has there been fighting among them, for the most part they are even very sharing with their food.
However sadly this morning I awoke to Liander dead. I don't know how old these guys were to start with but they have given me great joy in their short life span and he shall always have a special place in my heart.

Bad boys watcha gonna do?
General | Posted 11 years agoAnd this is why I don't like/trust most cops. Mind you not all cops are bad before anyone starts jumping down my throat but today's incident is one of the moments when I have little likings of them.
We were coming back from Columbus and at one point the truck's thermometer said that it was 96 degrees outside add that to the stop and go of road construction and you've got teh makings of an unhappy truck.
I turned onto our home road roughly 20 to 25 miles from the house when the truck dies as it does when it gets too hot. I coasted far enough that I wasn't in anyone's way, popped the hood and then proceeded to get my things out of the back seat so that I could pop the radiator cap and add water when a sheriff pulls up behind us and turns on his flashers.
He gets out of his car walking up slowly as I am under the hood and asks if everything is alright and I explained everything to him as I continue to pull off the cap. I actually had to tell him to stand back because he is right in the path of where the hot fluid is going to spray!
He steps back and asks Nicole if she is alright before walking back to his car. Little did I know until I heard it across his radio that he actually ran my fucking plates!!!.......seriously asshole!?!??!? So much for the good deed cop. He lost all points in a matter of seconds. He even asked my name and then after I told him he asked if the vehicle was registered to me.
Ok now enough is enough dick wtf! He also asked if we were on our way home to Marengo which my truck is clearly headed towards. Every nerve in my body fought not to smart off at this point and I just said yes. He then asks if we had far to go and I just said no it's only 20 miles or so he then says he is going to stay and make sure we got along our way alright. However once I am sitting back in my truck and even before I have turned the motor over he says "Have a good day and drive safe." he then is driving off before I had even turned the ignition as well. So much for being concerned about us and rather instead was looking for an easy ticket.

Dragons 2
General | Posted 11 years agoJust got back from seeing Dragons 2 with Puppet. It wasn't as good as the first one as it didn't have the same lighthearted feel but still a damn good movie IMO.
We caught it in 3D which was fun as I never got to see the first one in theaters. I still have some popcorn left which we are munching as I type. XD
We went to The Laughing Ogre comic shop next and then to Half Priced Books before picking up a Little Caesars pizza and headed to Oakland Nursery to try and find some rosemary plants. We found seeds but no actually herb plants other than this unusual tree version.
All in all it was a fun day and I enjoyed it a lot. ^^

Comics....comics EVERYWHERE!!
General | Posted 11 years agoI decided while I was off for shut down that I would once again work on updating my comic checklist. Needless to say I have bought several issues since the last update so the task was going to be daunting!
I didn't realize how daunting until I found all teh boxes that had not been updated yet. x.x
So several boxes in I was flying through when my computer decides to take a dump and I had to reboot it. Not knowing when I last saved I figured meh so I'll have to re-add a few shouldn't be too bad right?......WRONG!!!!
Somehow my computer wiped out all of my work and I had to track down an old copy of the list and start all over again. >.<

Fun at the store!
General | Posted 11 years agoSo today we went to Big Lots and there was a group (4) of teens being usual teens, rowdy, obnoxious etc and they wouldn't leave the drink aisle to which we wanted to go down and check out what was new.
We wandered the area for a bit and they never left so Puppet finally just looks at me and says "Sic 'em" (Keep in mind I'm a big guy, I have a husky build, I wear black, can have a menacing scowl, can project my aura and I wear a dog collar) so I grinned and rounded the corner looking angry.
They immediately got quiet and moved out of our way faster than water from Moses XD. One of the smart asses uttered "Woof!" but when they realized we were staying in the drink aisle they took off like a bat out of hell especially when they seen the look on my face.
Even funnier they left the store immediately after this when it was obvious prior to they had no plans on leave so soon.

SSSSSSSSSKKKKKKKKKRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNKKKK
General | Posted 11 years agoERMAGERD! Just got back from seeing the new Godzilla on the IMAX 3D and all I have to say.....IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING!!! And 100% Matthew Broderick free!! XD
The effects were great, decent and good paced storyline and when he first roared I gotta admit I nerdgasmed and I did it again the first time he did his atomic blast!
I caught quite a few references they made from the original movie which I thought was a nice nod to the original movie.
So yeah if you haven't seen it yet do eet!! Well worth the price of admission. My ears are still ringing but fuck it I'd see it again if I could!
