digital distractions Gallery Update!
General | Posted 14 years agoJust an small update:
Two gallery locations so far in SL: at Furry Fashion (PG/Mature) and Fur Pleasure (PG/Mature/Adult). Have about a dozen artists on board (although only 7 of them have submitted artwork for display), and several have commented on increased commissions through gallery exposure.
If you are still interested, please drop me a notecard in-world, or a message here.

Embarking on a new project - an Art Gallery in Second Life
General | Posted 15 years agoI noticed there really wasn't a central place where many artists could display and hawk their creations, whether for ego points or Lindens, so I acquired nearly 1/4 sim of space from the folks at Furry Fashion. FF touts itself as being the largest furry-centric clothing mall in SL, and my own personal feelings aside, they may very well be right!
The premise of the gallery is simple: after joining up with the Furry Fashion Group and acquiring the "Artist" group title, artists, photographers, and sculptors can rez a vendor of their choice (and I can recommend some decent ones that come with various ways to protect your art if you don't know of any).
Alternately, you can rez the art on a prim (or in a nice frame, for example), and I place a watermark vendor in front of it. But that would require that you give me one copy to place into vendor.
Commission vendors are also possible, so that people can drop off notecards with their requests.
For every item that you sell, you pay 10% of the sale to FF. If you sell nothing, you pay nothing! Perhaps in the future, if the idea takes off and most of the artists are turning a nice profit through the gallery, the price might go up 5-10% more but for now I think 10% is fair in exchange for hosting a place where the art can be displayed.
There are also opportunities to create little 'showcase parties' with music from the nearby club, prizes, and whatever general craziness befalls us. The gallery is there to have fun as well as check out what the artists have created.
If you are interested, or have other questions, feel free to comment here, or come into SL and send me an IM or notecard. My in-world name is "digital Darwinian".
