Feel the Burn Art Pack II
General | Posted 2 years agoI was asked to participate in an art pack collection.
The work is mostly 3D stuff. I'm not experienced in that medium yet, but I did contribute four images in my 2D art style. If you are into curvy characters working out, it's a pretty good collection to check out here.
Edit:
Updated the url. The art pack needed to be re-uploaded due to technical difficulties.

Jackie's Macro Adventure Got Popular!
General | Posted 4 years agoA big thank you for everyone who liked and followed me from the five-page macro sequence I did of Jackie the pegasus. Ran out of time to tank everyone individually, but know you are all appreciated! Macro art is fun, so I will definitely do more sequences when I can arrange some time together! I have a few ideas to try on some other characters.
Oh and draw more anthro characters. I love drawing ponies, but I gotta give my other critters some love too.

Shadowtrot Update
General | Posted 5 years agoI've successfully run two sessions of my cyberpunk pony campaign, Shadowtrot. My friend Newbiespud has both sessions hosted on his YouTube channel--
Session 1.
Session 2.
Session three will happen this Sunday around 5 pm Eastern Daylight time on Newbiespud's twitch. Or if you wait a few days afterwards, it'll go up on YouTube as well. It has been fun so far and I hope to keep up a really exciting campaign set in the futuristic setting of 2054 Equestria. :3

Puerto Rico Weekend
General | Posted 9 years agoMid-December I had snuck away for the weekend to Puerto Rico so I can visit a sick grandmother who may not be with us much longer. It wasn't much of a trip in two days, but I did get to visit a really good pizzeria in the Adjuntas mountains call El Campo es Lena. Great view and awesome pizza. I mean... wow. Brick kilns and fresh ingredients. My daughter ate two slices with a bunch of different toppings.
The only topping she'd ever eat is pepperoni, so this says something awesome about the food quality. :3

Survived Hurricane Matthew
General | Posted 9 years agoMy family and I are doing alright. Got through the hurricane alright and we're just waiting for the trailing rain and winds to die down a little. Worst is over though, and it seems nothing important was broken. So all in all I'm safe.
Birthday Today
General | Posted 9 years agoSo I'm now... um, well let's say 28 plus experience. A lot of experience. ;)
I made some French Toast and my family bought be Deadpool on DVD. Heh, what a way to start a morning, eh? Daughter was interested in seeing the movie, buuuuut... she's a bit young. I told her in 5 or so years when she's a teen and can be responsible with the kind of language in there.
Course she already knows how to swear. She just doesn't use them (thankfully). But she doesn't quite understand the meaning behind the words. Just that they are quite rude without the right context. It's interesting to watch her learn language skills.
Right now she's watching some Pokemon stuff. She loves that franchise.
Anyway, so right now I'm just chilling to some music and doodling. Also looking for artists who are open for commission work. I got an idea for a fun little sketch of my character. Rare is it what I actually have money to spend on other artists. I know if I don't do anything the money will just end up going to bills, and where is the fun in that?
Wow, did it get hot quickly this morning. Feels like middle of Summer today.

2015 Stuff
General | Posted 11 years agoI'm still alive and am rather thankful the holidays are over. Nothing real bad happened. Just got tired of having no free time to myself. Vacations and holidays are pointless if I can't spend a few hours to myself doing what *I* want to do-- art and play games and sleep in, etc. Ah well, made the most of it and now will get back to work.
I have started taking commissions again. Haven't been able to pay rent on time and so I have to take up extra work to not be evicted. All the Christmas money I got went to the rent too. That's a bit sad, cause I really want to upgrade the PC I use for playing games. It barely runs Fallout 3 on medium settings and I'm starting to see memory errors when it works too hard.
It's strange that going back to work gives me slightly more free time than holidays do. What's up with that?
Also, suffering an almost heatwave down here. Near 90F yesterday. Geez.

Character Meme!
General | Posted 11 years agoRULES :
1. Pick a character you've created.
2. Fill in the questions/statements as if you were that character.
3. Tag at least four people to do this meme
4. Tell people that they been tagged with a link from your journal
Character picked: Ace Gambit
1. What is your name?
I am Ace Gambit, a changeling that works at the Open Book bookstore! ...okay yeah, that doesn't sound like a grand heroic title.
2. Do you know why you were named that?
I picked it out myself! I think it perfectly defines my knack for having luck at just the right moment.
3. Single or taken?
Single for now.
4. Have any abilities or powers?
I'm very good at impersonating other ponies. Like, actually taking their form. Unfortunately the folks I impersonate don't think it's funny and some of them get downright hostile. They have no sense of humor.
5. Stop being a Mary Sue!
I swear I was only covering for Twilight in the lunch line that ONE time!
6. What's your eye color?
A somewhat boring icy blue. Though I really could make it any color I want if I take a pony form.
7. How about hair color?
Usually purple. It matches my natural carapace fairly well.
8. Have you any family members?
Dozens of brothers and sisters from the hive. Really the hive is just one big family unit so you always have someone to hang out with. Unfortunately that also means everyone older than you scolds you like a parent.
9. Oh? How about pets?
Most domestic animals don't like me. Dogs are one of the few animals that can see through our disguises.
10. That's cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don't like.
Birds of prey. You have not experienced pain until you've had a falcon attack you!
11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
Reading stories and studying magic. Sometimes doing magic tricks for the kids that come by the bookstore.
12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?
Err, rarely, but it happens. We changelings need to feed on emotions and... well trust me, struggling only makes it hurt. You'll feet fine after a nap.
13. Ever… killed anyone before.
Egads no! I try to be careful and not overfeed on anyone.
14. What kind of animal are you?
Not an animal at all! We're actually part fey.
15. Name your worst habits.
I have a hard time saying 'No' to folks and I tend to be a little too eager to help others.
16. Do you look up to anyone at all?
My coworker Skeleton Key at the bookstore. She's a big, brave pegasus and everyone likes her. Key isn't afraid to say no to a customer.
17. Are you gay, straight, or bisexual?
I can't say I've ever been picky. I also can't say I've ever had a relationship to really know.
18. Do you go to school?
No, but I do a good bit of self-study on weekends.
19. Ever want to marry and have kids one day?
I don't know. The whole concept of love is still confusing. Got to take baby steps.
20. Do you have fangirls/fanboys?
Sure, if I impersonate someone famous. I have to be careful with that. Some celebrities have crazy fans.
21. What are you most afraid of?
Getting beaten up. Drowning.
22. What do you usually wear?
I have a nice lavender tie that matches my mane.
23. What's one food that tempts you?
The joy of a really close friendship. It doesn't get much sweeter than that. It's like... milk chocolate I think.
24. Am I annoying you?
No, so far this has been an entertaining interview.
25. Well, it's still not over!
Oh. Um, was that a question?
26. What class are you (low class, middle class, high class)?
Definitely low. Key lets me sleep in the bookstore back room most nights since I can't afford my own place. Though most ponies in this town are apprehensive about me, so I doubt I could find a place anyway without a constant disguise.
27. How many friends do you have?
Um, Key... I kind of know the mailmare.
28. What are your thoughts on pie?
Pie is pretty tasty. Especially apple or peach pie. Very sweet.
30. Favorite drink?
Coffee, for those long overnight study benders.
31. What's your favorite place?
Bookstores and libraries.... Oh, I do like to visit a good museum. Those are fun.
32. Are you interested in anyone~?
There are a few frequent customers I'd like to be friends with. Does that count?
33. That was a stupid question.
Uh... no?
34. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?
I hate swimming. Wet wings make flying especially difficult. I'm not a good swimmer either.
35. What's your type?
Tahoma? Hevetica? Wait, did you mean like, in a special somepony? Oh I don't know... I can't say I've ever had the chance to be picky. I guess maybe someone who doesn't care about looks?
36. Any fetishes?
No, none at all really.
37. Seme or uke?
What? Why do I feel that I shouldn't look this up in the library?
38. Camping or indoors?
Indoors where it's warm and cozy.
39. Tag People!
Not a question! Next!

1st lesson of 2014
General | Posted 12 years agoThe new year is here, so happy 12 months of 28-31 days per and all that jazz. Jazz hands if you got them (or jazz paws, jazz hooves, etc. I'm not discriminatory). If you're not a fan of jazz, it's okay too.
Today I learned my first new thing of the year:
WEP sucks. :p
Couldn't get online all of yesterday with a laptop onto a WEP network, but today I tried a network with a newer encryption key and it works just fine (Wpa2 i think). I could say it's because this laptop is win7 and wep is too old, but there's another win7 laptop next to me that is on the wep network... and even copying the profile off that didn't help.
So... I dunno. The router just hates me I guess.
It's like having a yellow piece of paper and three blue crayons. The first two blue crayons leave green marks on the yellow paper. The third blue crayon leave a purple mark. That's the logic behind my time yesterday working with wireless networks.
I'm reminded of the mysterious keyboard issue on this one mac computer. With the keyboard the mac refused to boot up. But the keyboard worked fine with the other macs and a different keyboard (same model though) worked fine on the mac in question. Computers can be that fickle.
This, incidently, reminds me why I stopped taking tech support jobs.
So the moral of the story: just buy a green crayon. :D
Happy New Year!

The Sky is Blue, and All the Leaves are Green
General | Posted 12 years agoI am alive, though most of you probably knew that. ...or do you? :D
Ah, well you probably do. I still have a job, bills are getting paid, and life continues (slightly dull as it is, but no news is good news?). My daughter is into her third week of Kindergarten. That is still taking its sweet time to sink in. KINDERGARTEN. I drop her off in the morning before work and it is every bit like those movies/TV shows where the kid runs off happily, but the parents are misty-eyed about it.
Kids grow up so fast and raising them is never a casual thing.
I retired Lydia two months ago. I don't think I mentioned that here. My Saturn of 12 years was retired and traded in. I have a light blue Toyota now, named Trixie, and... well car tech has gotten really interesting in 12 years, i'll say that much.
I'll figure it all out someday. Took me a week to get the bluetooth thing working. :)
So overall, life is moving on. No major complaints right now. I am doing art to start up a Tumblr soon and I've begun running a Shadowrun game. Just keeping myself busy. Passes the time pretty well to keep busy.

Off the Line
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm one of the users who's been affected by the random FA outages. So if you don't hear much from me... that's why. >_>
Nothing much to talk about. Work is work, art is getting done, no heavy complaints right now.

Lappy Gone
General | Posted 12 years agoHad my home broken into today. Wife was home when it happened, so you can imagine how scary that was for her. :/
Crooks didn't get much, but they did take my lappy. That had all my artwork. Yeah, this is a personal blow that'll be hard to rebuild. I got a spare tablet so i can set myself up on this desktop, but still.. all that art I was doing. Hard to get ideas back...
...well, I'm writing down the ones I remember at least.

Deja Double
General | Posted 13 years agoI tend to get some pretty cool dreams at times and I'll write down the best ones to use as inspiration. Recently, during my fever-laden headcold, I dreamed about reading someone's post on a message board and I thought (in the dream) that it should inspire an idea for me.
Waking up, I wrote down the dream and the details of the inspiration.
Today on a messageboard someone posted almost the same exact post. This is of course nothing short of WIGGY, and I mentioned to that post about my Deja Vu moment and the dream that inspired an idea.
Later today I told that story to someone and they said that they felt like I already did tell them this story. He even mentioned a detail of the inspiration I didn't tell him yet. It wasn't 100% correct, but close enough that it made me go "HMMMMMMM....."
Dreams are weird.

Art Plug Giveaway and Other News
General | Posted 13 years agoI know it can be tough getting noticed in the art world, so thought to plug this artist. Pretty cute stuff, give it a looksee here~

Doing a art givaway thing too:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4322809/
Life is pretty quiet lately. I work, I come home to cook, I do a little writing/art, and repeat. Oh, and throw in being refree to my daughter's bad habit of randomly looking up videos on YouTube. XD
Parental controls are useless, most people don't bother flagging if their videos have bad words or questionable content. For shame!
Speaking of daughter, she has homework to do, I better get her on that. >_>
So yeah, nothing going on otherwise. Quiet on my end.
Did taxes, getting less back than last year. I assume the tax breaks are over. It's okay, we do have to pay off that debt thing.
Why do people still question my taste for american cheese in my PB&Js?

Hat Raffle & Story Writing
General | Posted 13 years agoFree Hat Raffle! http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4219751/
I wonder if the hat comes with the raffle?
I'm writing again! A short story set in the wild west. Having fun starting up the mystery in the story's plot and so far my favorite part was the protagonist describing to the deputy that the 3 robbers at a warehouse were "Two horrible dog-creatures with fangs, and a hare."
It makes sense in context, but hilarious out of it.

Thanksgiving Breakfast!
General | Posted 13 years agoI cooked up homemade french toast for breakfast today. :q
And we still have some real Vermont maple syrup too! Score!
See, when I'm not tired and flustered, I really do enjoy cooking. Doubt I could make a career out of that though. I think all the stress of cooking for people would turn me off from food. And I love me some food. Well.. maybe not too much love. I gotta keep the weight steady.
I'm seeing lots of "Black FRiday" commission deals. ...and me with no money to spend. Phooey!
Well, maybe there will be some "After Xmas" specials? Yes? Maybe? :D I'll have money then to throw at you artists if you have such sales.

Lydia... (Incidently, that's my car's name)
General | Posted 13 years agoA line feeding into my car's radiator busted and so my poor car bled all over the streets on the way home today. It's... well no, it's not okay. I gotta miss work tomorrow to get my car to a mechanic. :/
I kinda have the money to have the repairwork done, but I was saving up to get a livestreaming account... to make money... you know for... oh irony, I see what you did there.
Anyway, I'm feeling a little down over this. At least I have a few commissions waiting to start, so I can start over from scratch as soon as Thursday/Friday.

I have not one, but two replacement tablets and I haven't gotten around to using them yet. Silly me! I'll see about getting them installed on my PCs and then gearing up some commission work to pay for some computer parts I could use. In all, about $400 would cover all the desires--
Replacement Video card for my gaming PC
Replacement LCD monitor for my daughter's PC
Replacement hard drive to upgrade my daughter's PC
Replacement USB ports for daughter's PC
Yes, I realize my daughter is only four, but she can use a computer Like A Pro. :o
Good thing I know how to engage parental browsing locks, her searches for MLP artwork would be a lot more... um, "surprising" without the locks. :)

Wacom Pen Parts
General | Posted 13 years agoMy daughter decided to chew up the 2-button rocker part on my Intuos2 pen. And because that's an older model pen, I cannot find a replacement piece anywhere online, including Wacom, eBay, Amazon, etc.
So now the pen doesn't work well and I can't afford to just buy a new pen. I'm SOL and artwork is going to take a lot longer to complete. :/

Take My Money?
General | Posted 13 years agoGenerally the artists I watch will post when they're open for comissions, but once the slots fill, that's pretty much it. No waiting line, no bump up in the next round. Nope, it's striclty first-come-first-serve.
Bad prospects for people like me who aren't on very often and can't affort to camp on the journal page waiting for the artists to put up their "open" signs for the next 10 minutes. It's like winning a prize at your local radio station. Every day you start from scratch. But hey, it's a free country and they can do it however the heck they want.
So let's try a little experiment.
I'm about to come into a little extra spending money for my birthday (within 5-6 days from now). I want to buy some artistic services. On a budget of, say, $25-$35, who's open to take my money and draw my characters?

I Found Waldo!
General | Posted 13 years agoWaldo being a multi-thousand-dollar intercom meeting device for the executive meeting room. I.T. was looking for it all day since it got lost in the shuffle of moving office buildings... but I figured to check behind some large wrapped cabinets and sure enough there it was in a little cardboard box!
I'm kinda of the hero of the day... well for 5 minutes anyway. After that everyone was all in that meeting and forgot the whole incident XD
