Posted 13 years agoI just saw a journal of some random guy saying that drawing is no real job, "lazy" and doesn't deserve to be paid and that a job is only a job when you're using your whole body. I got off the site of this guy and ereased his name out of my brain but...

You can't believe how pissed this makes me, to see such a know-it-all, writing such freaking shit.
1rst. NOT ONLY PHYISCAL WORKOUT IS WORK, DUMBASS. If this was true, than telemarketers, businessmen, video game programmers etc. are lazy, too, because they only sit around and do things with a computer/phone. Or everything you did in school was lazy because you only sit on you ass and learn! Well excuse you, but that's called MENTAL EXHAUSTION AND WORKOUT. Ever heard of this? Using your brain too much eventually leads to physical exhaustion. (I could write extreme long, scientific lines of how your brain takes most of the oxygen and energy from the rest of your body, if you're focussing on something, but I better won't) The same is with art. You have to be really patient and really observant and that can get exhausting, too. There we see again how you know about nothing. Hell, EVEN WRITING IS WORK AND TAKES TIME AND CAN LEAD TO MENTAL EXHAUSTION. I once wrote a 1000 word story within a few hours. After this I was exhausted like shit and had a headache! Heck, it even can get exhausting, listening to other peoplr for hours because your brain needs to comprehend what they said!
2nd. ART IS NOT AS EASY AS YOU THINK. Not every-fucking-one can draw. It's skill that you have to pick up OVER YEARS. And even then, many people are working for hours, sometimes even DAYS at the same picture! And if you make a mistake, you have to correct it and THAT TAKES TIME AGAIN. Also, working on a picture is an endless loop of frustration and happiness, if you have to correct mistakes and add details. And may lead to stress, wich is exhausting. So puhlease, explain. Why the heck should I give away my precious lifetime, for a person who I barely know or I don't even know at all and then GET NOTHING IN RETURN? I mean I could as well "be lazy" (/sarcasm) in an office in front of a computer and get money! Well, alright, If I draw something for myself, I basically make myself a gift, wich pays off the hard work on that picture, or If I give a close friend a gift, to see how happy they are about it, because I care about them, but why the hell should people sacrifice their own lifetime and use their brainpower and engulve themselves to stress, for other people?! People they barely even know?! That's why people take commissions. They want to get something back, idiot.
And I still have a few things I'd like to say, but I don't know how too put them... other than this, i am still kinda pissed.
I don't think they'll ever see this, and I just needed to vent, but if you do... have a nice, warm cup of FUCK YOU.
(edit): Okay there are a few things i have to add here:
YOU ARE BACICALLY SAYING A SHITTON OF PEOPLE DON'T DESERVE PAYMENT.
The character designer at a game studio, who designed your favourite character seemingly doesn't, the concept artist there, who thought of everything before they began programming it, the comic artist who works at disney/marvel/dc/whatever and draws their comic books, the guy who hand draws things on extremely expensive dishes, the guy who designed the boxart for your video game or the guy who designed of the wrapping for your food etc, the guy who gets paid by a court to draw whats happening on there, the person who made this big poster over there, the mangakas who draw all these mangas... and a lot more. You basically are calling every single one of them lazy and people withou a real job... do you even realize how much you sound like an asshole?...
