General | Posted 13 years agoSo Evan has been fired from State Farm. I'm not surprised, he sucks with people, he has no social skills, and it's not surprising in the slightest bit to me that he can't accomplish sales.
What did bother me though, was the flippant manner in which he informed us 'Well I'm not there anymore but it doesn't matter I can go back to Jiffy Lube and make basically the same money!' and then explain that he's got the next few days off (fucking joy, thank god I start a part time job a few minutes from the new place.) and is going to use them to pack. But, and I quote, states 'That'll only take me a couple hours maximum. Not like you guys, who still have a long way to go.'
Get the fuck out of my house, get the fuck out of my life, and stop being a dead beat leach.

Changing Sam?
General | Posted 13 years agoSo, I think the last time that I actively drew Samirah was sometime last year. Same for getting any art of her, it might even have been earlier than that.
I've been mulling over my thoughts for a long while, and I know that when I have the money, I want to get a suit from
of a Bornean Clouded Leopard. I'm thinking....some, of just changing Samirah's appearance and just making her a Clouded Leopard versus a sparkle lion. I have zero attachment to Sam's design anymore - the only features that really stuck to me at all were her hair color, eye color and the beauty mark - they're traits I also have.
So yeah. I've been thinking of having some general sketches done from folks, and just see how I feel. Who knows?

General | Posted 13 years agoMy apartment situation is abruptly changing and I need to raise about 1000$ to help get myself, my pets, and boyfriend out of an apartment where repairs are not made (Our stove has been broken since August, for an example. It's been reported repeatedly.) and where they decided to unlock and enter my apartment while I was home, about to get into a shower, without knocking or attempt to contact us.
So, to raise some funds I'm going to be essentially pushing out as many commissions as possible.

General | Posted 14 years agoSo, I've been quite for awhile, and folks have been wondering what's been going on.
Well, unfortunately I've been having migraine issues for awhile now, 2-3 times a week and sometimes more, with headaches daily. I was put on Topamax, and pretty quickly developed side affects from it. Tingling sensations in my hands, feet and lips, light headedness and nausea, just.....not fun stuff. :/
My headaches have decreased in frequency and intensity which is a plus, but in light of my side affects I went back to the doctors this morning. What I'm having are results in about 10% of the population so....yay. :|
Otherwise, I've been thinking more seriously about my job - it's a fantastic business opportunity if I want to own my own company but it's very, very stressful. There are quotas, critera to meet, and all around it's demanding of me. I work over 55 hours a week, and that's not counting any outside meetings or time spent with other employees. I'm thinking of getting into healthcare.....even though I've said I didn't want to for years and years. I think I'd like to take a sonography course. I'm mulling it over >>;

General | Posted 14 years agoI wonder sometimes about friendship - I feel it gets used to loosely sometimes, when people really aren't your friends. Friends to me are the folks that you can call / text at four in the morning when you're upset and you need someone to hit you upside the head and say calm down! Friends are the ones that will always come back to you, even if you've had fights, because your soul resonates in a way that just means you can't be apart. Friends are the ones that you can't wait to see and that you dream about seeing and being with. Not doing anything special or strange, just being with them.
It bothers me when people decide they no longer want to be friends with you and they just.....stop responding. To anything / everything. It's childish and silly and it bothers the hell out of me. I'm fine with you deciding I'm no longer with your time or your energy, but why not say it? Be an adult, and just let it go. Tell me. It's okay, I'll deal with it. I know some months ago I put up a similar journal to this one and it was for entirely different people, but it's just something that I've been mulling over lately. I dunno.

I almost have to start of explaining the Sonia v. Katy thing, as it's become a question in the fandom with my family and the people I've met. My best friend in 6th-8th grade and I used to roleplay on pen and paper in class and Sonia was the character that I created. She was the embodiment of all the traits I hoped to grow into, courageous, confident, self-aware, maternal but not crippling in her need to tend to others, able to do what she wanted when she wanted, creative and lovely. Sonia was the name I started to use as my pseudonym, and eventually came to be the secondary name I was known for. That's been about 15 years or so, and as I'm growing into my adulthood it's funnier even now as I consider how I'll legally add this into my name. Sonia isn't a fursona / persona / character anymore - it's as much me as anything else and it pleases me in ways I can't even explain every time I hear someone call me by that name. It's a slight nod to the kid I was when I started being creative and it's a steady glance into the woman I still have yet to become.
Samirah has been around for some.....ten or so years, since I guess I've actively been in the fandom for thirteen, through different looks and different color schemes. (oldest, http://fanart.lionking.org/Artists/.....mpire/Avvy.gif , current, http://fanart.lionking.org/Artists/.....amirahRef.jpg) - Sam was the part of me that I tried to be, warm, charismatic, outgoing, friendly, level headed - but before I knew it it became more a mix of who I presently was and the person I wanted to be. She was always a safe sort of feeling for me, if I tried to put it into words it became something akin to a haven for the moments I needed comfort most. Losing friends, relationships, forming connections with people - most of the strongest memories I have are less mine in the present sense but the ones that I found through Samirah.
Lillium is only..I'd say two years old, in a sense, and she came to me when I found myself again. Being with Ryan put me in very dark, dark places and finding the strength to leave that mess and to find myself became a journey that lead to a lot of self discovery and strength. Lily became a random thought that transformed into a stronger presence and eventually, the little lady became a forethought all her own. She is inquisitive, confident, but still as tender and loving as ever. She relies much more on herself, while Sam has always been about others, and they became a equal balance for me.
When I retreat into myself in moments of frustration or despair, it's always Sam that seems to manifest herself in different ways. When I am upbeat and happy, Lily is usually there. Lillium has been what people see on the outside, and Samirah the inner part of me that I share with fewer and fewer people.

Life updates

Matt and I are doing fantastically, I'm actually living with him and his roommate Evan, and yes, I do know that it's a quick venture and all that but we are truly one another's equals and mirrors - I can't wait to show him off and introduce him to my family, we're planning trips to Baltimore sometime for next year.
I'm looking for a new job, which is consuming so much of my time / life right now. My store tells me they don't have hours for me anymore, and so I find about a month at another store (a 40 minute drive, yaaay) and after that...I have no idea where / what I'm going to do.
So, yes. who knows. I'm just coasting along atm! Other than work, life is amazing!

General | Posted 14 years agoI went to an anime convention this weekend with my friend Tom... I was SUPER reluctant to go. So Tom introduced me to his friends who had also brought some random people, It was a really chill, cool group of people and one of them and I hit it off really really well. His name is Matt. We hung out alone last night, took me to dinner, refused to let me pay, we're hanging out tomorrow too - Texting constantly, it's weird the way that he mirrors my own life. he was in a long term committed relationship that failed because the partner wasn't 100% in the relationship / ran it into the ground.....his friends helped save him, his father passed away from leukemia similar to what Johnny had, he knows what it feels like to have a track record of unfortunate relationships. I'm just...I'm giddy and silly and I totally forgot how this works and I don't know when it becomes a date and when it progresses past 'just friends' and ....GAH haha, I forgot how this goes
Okay, like here, an example- He usually goes to bed by about 11, my time. He has a 9-5 job that requires him to leave his house by # because he does public transport. The past few nights we've texted waaay past 11 and tonight I said 'If I was a better woman I'd stop answering so you'd actually go to bed at the correct time'and he sent back 'I'd say the better one would be someone who manages to keep me so interested in her that I forget about the time. ;)
OH did I blush!
I've entirely missed this and I just.....I'm so goofy lol.
I've also been getting those adorable text messages at 7 AM saying 'Good Morning!' I'm so silly. Smitten. I think that's the correct word for this. Because I'm too damn old for crushes, right?? XD

I'm bummed my lovelies won't be there, and it's already sort of.....lessened? the experience for me I guess, but I'm still looking forward to it. It's got a LOT to live up to coming off the tail end of A-kon this weekend and what was purely the most nerd-gasmic 48 hours of my life. It's going to be damn near impossible to top that weekend. It was awesome.
That said, I know half my nerves are purely just freak out mode and the never ending list of what I still have left to accomplish, and once that passes, I'll be good to go.
Tonight, however, I'm ditching my efforts to prepare to spend them with Matt :) I don't know exactly what's going on here, Tom and Loli are just...loving pestering the two of us about it and he basically was my equivalent in his relationship with his ex-wife. Five years together, ended in resentment, still trying to be the bigger / better person, ect. It's nice to have someone understand where you're coming from and be able to help you work through things.
Enough gushing, I'll talk later ;3

General | Posted 14 years agoI think I had a slight mental breakdown today....I said things out loud that so far I'd only ever thought in my head and it scared me. I think mom is finally going to support me on finding a counselor though, and maybe that'll help. I sort of feel like I imagine Humpty Dumpty did but it's going to be OK eventually. I've got to start somewhere I guess!
