Last week's health scare made me realize how much I was tearing myself apart trying to keep two blogs simultaneously updated. I'm as proud of the stuff I do as D.Egg as anything I do as Iris Jay, and I've been making smut AS Iris Jay for years at this point, so the division between the two halves of my career feels superfluous. Not to mention, in our current censorious political climate (where, apparently, depictions of transgender people AT ALL can be considered pornography), I resent the idea that I should be lopping off parts of my artistic output to make it more "acceptable". I'm an adult! I make adult comics for other adults! Even the stuff I make without sex in it is intended for adults and deals with mature themes-- queer actualization, tech industry corruption, class conflict, etc. I also think sex is a fascinating and integral component of the human experience, and I strive to make the stories I tell about it as fun, weird and emotionally resonant as anything else I make. Don't tell me to shut up! I'll get louder!!

The Distressed Egg brand and accounts aren't going away, but I'm going to be significantly less coy about marketing the stuff I do under that name over on my main accounts. Think of it like when a musician performs under two different names! ALL the stuff I self-publish, however, will be going on these Patreon and Subscribestar blogs, and you can help support my work by pledging to one of them, or at the very least reblogging my promotional posts about them on your platform(s) of choice. In case you've been out of the loop for the past month or so (lucky you), Twitter got bought out by a billionaire moron and has since been experiencing a kind of long, embarrassing site-wide implosion thanks to his "management strategies". On the one hand, it had it coming-- I'd blame advertisement-driven social media for fucking up the entire Internet-- but Twitter was also a hub of operations for a lot of smut artists like myself due to its lack of restrictions on sexually explicit content. If career pornomancers like myself want to survive online, we need to diversify. WHICH HEY: Now's a great time to remind you of my various DISTRESSED EGG side accounts! Chances are, you're reading this on one right now!

🐘My MASTODON account, http://mellified.men/@distressedegg, is still my central social media base of operations. If I make any off-the-cuff shitposts or updates on how I'm feeling on a particular day, they'll probably show up there first.
🐜My COHOST account, http://cohost.org/distressedegg, is a great option if you want a more image-centric experience. Cohost is an exciting site full of cool posts and cool people, AND its admins are very chill with users posting horny art. I'm really excited about its potential!
🛌My PILLOWFORT account, http://pillowfort.social/distressedegg, is great if you're looking recapture some of that Classic LiveJournal Magic. The smut scene on there feels like it's juuust on the verge of turning into something BIG.
🐾Finally, I'm reopening my long-dormant FURAFFINITY account at http://furaffinity.net/user/distressedegg. Improbably, through everything, it has remained a thriving gallery site with an active userbase and a very permissive attitude towards posting erotica. It's a standard for a reason!

Going forward, all art posts, commission slot announcements, stream ads, and other important messages will be posted to all four of these sites. I'll also be continuing to post to my 🐤TWITTER account, http://twitter.com/distressedegg, until the site either shuts down or becomes so riddled with spambots it is rendered irrelevant. (I will not be using Facebook or Instagram. They don't like porn there, and also they're bad at advertising unless you constantly pump money into them. Tumblr is also off the table until their admins can say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they're okay with ALL kinds of porn again, not just "female presenting nipples".) In addition, I'll also be resuming my PATREON REWIND threads I used to do on Twitter and Mastodon as individual scheduled posts, in order to backfill my Cohost, Pillowfort and Furaffinity accounts with art I haven't yet featured on there. By 2023, all five of these sites will be posting in unison alongside the gallery on my main site, http://distressedegg.fun.

so i'd been avoiding posting my stuff on FurAffinity up until now, for various ideological and personal reasons, but then i realized, wait. i use twitter all the time to promote myself. and twitter has definitely made at least as many boneheaded admin decisions as FA and has had way worse of an impact on the world at large. if i'm going to use one as a stopgap promotional tool, then fuck it, may as well use the other.

so! i'm experimenting with promoting here more often. most of the stuff i'm uploading in the next couple of days will essentially be reposts from my Tumblr blog. in the future, stuff posted here will be mostly in one of two categories:

1. twice-a-week sketches, comics and art originally posted on my Patreon. these go up Sundays and Wednesdays.
2. commissions and notices for said commissions. not open yet but opening soon!
