General | Posted 15 years agoThis thing has been bluescreening a fucking lot. Anyone what this error means:
IRQL NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL
that's what the error is each time. If someone could figure this out, that'd be greeaaaaaaaaaat.
Meanwhile, I'm going to continue perving out and writing down in my spiral notebook...
...
or playing Okami for several hours on end. Maybe top that off with Super Mario 64 DS. >o>

Nightmares
General | Posted 15 years agoYeah okay. Got a new nightmare for you all to hear about. So sit down and pay attention:
I was a test subject for some government project. I have no clue what it was, but I was basically paid to come in and do some stuff for them. Into my fifteenth puzzle, I started to get headaches, bad ones at that. Everything was flickering around me and everything was going to pieces, just like the puzzles I was making.
Then in a stark instant, my mind jerked me towards 'reality', where I was laying in a tube with a visual display in front of me detailing how I was doing, what I was doing. And in the creepiest computer monotone ever...
"Subject 2901 is awake and cognizant. Deploying cyanide gas..."
And then I woke up.

Dear Sega
General | Posted 15 years agoHi there, we haven't talked in a while. Lemme break it down like this: You have a great idea going with Sonic 4. I say that because I'm still hopeful about it. Now we come to the meat of my problem. Your website. For the longest time, you blanked out one of the characters that was on the 'Characters' screen. I thought it might be an unlockable character for the longest time, but you proved me wrong. You revealed... Robotnik. The guy who this game was going to be against anyway. You didn't surprise me, you angered me. There's a lot of things you coulda pulled. Like reveal a brand spanking new character, revealed an old one as playable... hell, I woulda been /shocked/ if you revealed Ray or Mighty. That woulda just made me drop everything and buy the wii points card already, waiting for your next masterpiece.
Instead you give me shit. Turn it around, Sega. Please. For your sake and mine, turn it around. Give us longtime fans something to look forward to. Not something designed just for the new fans. You remember, right? You're basing this off the original genesis games. Well, Capcom did pretty damned good with using retro graphics... what's holding you back? Is it just that you don't wanna seem like copy cats? Don't wanna try something that works?
This was supposed to give me back my childhood. Instead you're giving essentially Sonic Advance to me all over again. That's not what I was hoping for. I was hoping for blazing through levels in under 30 seconds, crushing enemies beneath my mighty balled up sonic spin jump. I was hoping for collecting all the chaos emeralds, then unleashing the fucking fury on some hapless Robotnik drones and even the big guy himself.
Sega, just stop. Go back and work on some of your ideas before you think of bringing something like this to the table again. It's a nice touch and all, but still... you're losing your older fans, which is still a large chunk of your market base. Hell, I'm surprised I've even got a copy of Sonic Unleashed in my house, despite how spectacularly that game failed.
In short, please. Make this game retro again. I want to feel like I've been thrown back to 1994, sitting in front of the glow of my TV in the dead of night, jumping and running through levels and bosses at sonic speeds.

Cat Worries
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, we took in my cat Classy to be fixed last Friday. All was well and good, she was recovering wonderfully... til we looked at her incision this morning. It's inflamed and puffy, distending her about a half-inch in that area. So we need to bring her into the vet tomorrow.
Not a 'the bill is too big, please help D:' journal, just kinda a heads up so you people know what's going on.

NES Nostalgia
General | Posted 15 years agoMy portable emulator is mostly for NES games nowadays, seeing as I can't play sega titles, can't play SNES titles, and most Game boy games lag out. But I'm still having fun with it. Recent accomplishments:
Beat Super Mario Bros. in one life.
Beat Werewolf: The Last warrior
Got up to stage 13 on Galaga.
And quite a lot more. What I'm basically saying is, I'm glad I bought this thing just so I can relive some grand childhood memories. n.n

Cave Story; First Impressions
General | Posted 15 years agoQuite a few things to discuss, so let's bring up those neat little bullet points!
Controls: The Wiimote style makes it much smoother. I love how responsive the buttons are compared to my time playing it on PC when the translation patch hit. For those who haven't played yet, it used to be Z, X, C for most of the stuff, whereas the Wiimote has 1, 2, +, - and A, B. A and B switch your weapons forward and backward, 2 jumps, 1 fires, and + and - are your pause menus; - for map and + for inventory. Classic controller is a bit easier to use with a bit of work, but I prefer playing it like an NES game.
Gameplay: Again, the controls are nice and smooth, everything hits just right. There's no need to be pixel perfect in your jumps, generally you can make it even if you time it a little wrong. The fire button is excellent for those of us with mashing fingers, as you can generally get a stream of bullets going on screen. The weapon swap is smooth, easy to transition to after a little practice. Just to be fancy, I swap weapons mid-jump, so I can carry some forward momentum and dodge oncoming fire.
Story: I loved the story from the PC version. LOVED it. Those of you who don't have it, I'm not going to spoil, just to say that it really draws you in for how fantastic it can be. It's like the perfect sci-fi adventure RPG that it was back when. The only problem I have here is some of the dialogue changes. Most notably, Balrog seems to be the Kool-Aid man now, entering with a grand 'OH YEAAAH' instead of his classic "HUZZAH!" There's some little dialogue change here and there, but nothing that alters the story. Just personality quirks that should've stayed as they were.
Music: The music is wonderful... in Old style. The instruments sound forced in the New style, and it just grates on the ear. The sound effects themselves... it'd be best to dip those levels down a bit at the options screen before starting, as the text scrolling will go over the music more often than not. Other than just being nitpicky... I like the music in the old style, rather than new.
Overall: This is a great game, well worth the 12 dollars. If anything but to finally be able to thank Nicalis for a fantastic game and a wonderful game experience. This is one to surely keep everyone's interest and attention for a long time to come. Expect it to be this month's buzzword in your office, school, or place of work!
Score: 4.5 out of 5 and 9.3 out of 10. The new music is what truly keeps it from being higher, but with an option to swap it to classical style it keeps it from going lower as well. Solid port by Nintendo and Nicalis, and a wonderful game by Studio Pixel.

Pokemon R 34? Sure! :D
General | Posted 16 years agoName: Pearl Holbrook
Species: Weavile
Gender: Herm
Age: 27
Orientation: Straight/Homo (depends on how you look at it!)
Height: 4'11"
Weight: 110 lbs
Disposition: Sassy and Tech savvy.
Short Biography: Raised by her grandparents, Pearl is quite the firebrand, possessed of a rapier wit and an even sharper mind. Being one of the offspring of the first anthro pokemon hybrids, she had a few biological problems, including a massive dip in melatonin production making her insomniac. Not to mention the fact that she has both sets of reproductive organs. She's quite good looking to boot, with her red mane swept back into fashionable bun most times times, but leaving it hanging when she's not out in public or actually going out on the town. She's sexually magnificent, mentally powerful, and all around a great person.
Favorite food: Lemon snowcones
Favorite pastime: Going out on the town.

Fuck Spring
General | Posted 16 years agoThis is why Spring is my least favorite season. Just because of so goddamned much pollen in the air, kickstarting my way into sneezing my head off for the better part of the season. So weird that my favorite and least favorite seasons are so close to one another... I'd actually prefer the order reversed. Deal with the suck first, then get the awesome next.
Anyway, fuck Mother Nature, that two bit whore. She should just go off herself with the most awesome bear that her fat ass could produce and leave me the hell alone. PAVE IT ALL. PAVE IT ALL OVER WITH CONCRETE AND STONE.
Or just stop having all the plants by sending out their jizz on birds and bees and hoping it lands on some other bitch-ass flowering plant. Especially those goddamned ragweed and grass pollens or whatever. :V
In sum, Mother Nature's a whore, so go fuck your yard with the nearest blunt object. Maybe she'll feel the anal rape and cry mercy. :V
Buh bye. :V

Augh, hayfever. :<
General | Posted 16 years agoEyes are watery, nose is runny, sinuses are weirding out... yeh, looks like I have hayfever again this year. It's probably from dad tilling the garden earlier so we could plant stuffs. Buncha pollen gets kicked up and I become a messed up wreck of a person who can't really do anything without rubbing at eyes or nose for more than a minute. So it looks like I'm getting my claritin prescription refilled and I'm going to work on getting better naturally. :B
Anyway, good night folks and peoples, I'll see you all tomorrow with a schedule for next week's updates. :v

Reploid randomness
General | Posted 16 years agoHey folks, go ahead and disregard this. Just wanted to flex my Megaman X character design by making... me! into a reploid! Here goes!
Name: Torch Raven
Weapon: Torch Talon
Weapon's effect: Creates a slash mark about 2 bodylengths ahead, then sets affected enemies on fire for about 1 regular buster shot damage for each second, for 5 seconds. (obviously the extended effect is useless on bosses)
Weapon's CHARGED effect: Creates a fiery tornado directly ahead, about three bodylengths wide (almost the whole half of the screen, setting everything inside ablaze for 1 medium charge shot damage for each second, for 5 seconds (Obviously useless on bosses) with initial damage of a fully charged shot.
Basic character attributes
Original function: Foundry worker.
New function post maverick: Drilling to the planet's core to harness geothermal energy (yes, the avian boss is under the earth. MOVE ALONG PLEASE)
Height: 4'10"
Weight: about 200 lbs (lean for a reploid!)
Basic features: It's me in reploid form! No wings, and with the arm cannon for the signature move on the left arm.
Arm cannon functionality: Twin spikes jut out from the top. When lit ablaze from the arm cannon's inner heating system, it creates the Torch Talon effect (uncharged)
Basic fighting pattern: Torch Talon from the right side of the screen, then leaps over and does the same on the opposite side. Moves to cling to the ceiling, then starts the charged Torch Talon in the middle (though it's slower and doesn't have an instant area of effect) Leaps down and tries to ram with his body. Repeat pattern. Low health causes maverick mode to set in, where there's constant charged Torch Talons starting from the right side of the screen moving to the left, then back again. Pattern repeats, then so on until destroyed.
Monologue (no mid-fight voicing): "So, X. You've come to put a stop to me too... I can't let you stop Sigma's plan, not this time. Well then, if you're being that way about it... have at you! *bdddddddddddddddoop!* *boss theme* *fight* DWAHHH! *explodes*
And there ya go. Me as a reploid. TA DA.
