Transitions: Last Journal.
Posted 14 years agoSince my business here at FA is finally complete, I am now done with this account, and will no longer be monitoring it.
I have left the Schnuffel Inventory in place for those who might wish to see it- It's the final update, as of a couple weeks ago.
All of the "Transitions" journals also remain. Everything else is gone, except the +faves gallery-- I don't recall whether I publicly stated or not, but I predicted my last +fave would be one of Taral's (
saara) pics, and so shall it be.
I'm active only on Inkbunny (and a few certain fora, notably the Gene Catlow webcomic forum as Amy), so from now on, you can follow me there, if you haven't yet (*ahem*
sqrl)-- http://inkbunny.net/dmfalk
Goodbye, FA- Thanks for a good 3.5 years....

Transitions: Last Hurrahs...?
Posted 15 years agoThis is my penultimate journal-- My last will probably be by this weekend, as I'm finishing up loose ends here.
Censorship is evil, and without vigilance, is cancerous-- Once given the power to censor, rarely does the censor stop him/her/themselves, unless is stopped by someone else, or something else causes them to stop.
The freedom of speech and expression, one of the five freedoms enumerated in the First Amendment of the US Constitution, is intended to protect unfavourable or unpopular expression, as it's assumed that that which is politically and socially expedient or acceptable need not be granted protection. This means you have the right to say what you want, and your ability to say it is left unfettered, providing it's not a call to harm (a threat), but it also means you're not protected from the consequences of what you say- There is no right to be protected from anything that offends you. After all, if what offends you, you want banned, be careful that something you like that may offend someone else doesn't get banned as well. In fact, defending something you don't like against a ban could also mean defending something you DO like in return.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
--Evelyn Beatrice Hall, misattributed to Voltaire.
To me, a ban is a cowardly act, and those who commit or support such an act are cowards.
As I've said before, I don't like FA's direction, and I don't think it'll stop anytime soon.
But, you won't have to deal with me much longer, here, and you can go about your bliss thinking it's over and those icky perverts are gone.
Just remember, FA's financial mess hasn't ended yet. Someone else will be to blame. Who's next? I'm not going to stick around to find out.
BTW, you have to this weekend to save what you want from my gallery & scraps here, or you can just follow me to Inkbunny ( http://inkbunny.net/dmfalk )-- I was going to just leave them here until the account is deleted, but as FA's most recent ban affects my gallery (a ban against ANY canonically-underage characters in adult situations, even if they're not) moreso than the cub ban (which does affect some of what I have), it means a major part of what I have here must go, so I've decided once I say goodbye, that's it- Everything's gone from here, as well as
amystereo.
ilenelepti and
mimzybunny, and these accounts will be closed.

Transitions: Last Rites....
Posted 15 years agoI was planning on just letting my accounts here be left alone while I leave for Inkbunny in the next week.
I can't.
I don't see any other choice in protest of FA's present policy direction than to just delete EVERYTHING.
Because cub porn is banned, this has been made to include not just artwork, but stories as well, and now extended to canonically-underage cartoon characters-- Say bye-bye to Tiny Toons and Sonic!
Just brilliant-- What next?
If you haven't yet, come join me on Inkbunny, even if you don't plan on leaving FA.
This site is dying. I'm not staying here. I may even lose a few friends because of my transition to Inkbunny, but it's out of necessity.
You can find me here: http://inkbunny.net/dmfalk
Almost everything that's here is there, now.
There might be one or two more journals from me here- The last one will be to say good-bye.
One week, and I'm gone. I close the door, here.

Transitions: *ding!*
Posted 15 years agoAnd my Inkbunny account is live and ready, with 62 submissions (54 in Gallery, 8 in Scraps). I'll only be uploading there for now on.
http://inkbunny.net/dmfalk
I may still post a journal or two, some +faves and replies, but for now, I'm only waiting for some friends to get notice I'm on a new account elsewhere, so I may be still available here for a couple weeks or so.
My new home is on Inkbunny.
I will announce closure here when I do leave, though.
See you there.

Transitions: Going live.
Posted 15 years agoMy Inkbunny gallery will be going "live" midnight Monday morning, Pacific Standard Time, as opposed to 3:47 E.S.T. (a few Canadians may get the joke ;) ), which means I'll no longer be adding any more submissions here, and may taper off the journals until I'm sure I've found and informed everyone I want to know that I've moved to IB. When that last stage happens, I'll declare this and my other three accounts abandoned, but I won't delete anything, so those may want to view until the admins officially clean these accounts off FA.
See you on the other side.

Transitions: Beware the Phantom Nosebeeper!
Posted 15 years agoIf I want you to know I'm +watching you on Inkbunny, you'll get a nosebeep. :) If you contact me and I haven't found you yet, you'll get a nosebeep as well. :)
If you don't want me to +watch you at all, just ban me- I'll know when I'm not wanted. :(
I'll probably keep an eye on FA until everyone that either I give a damn about or gives a damn about me knows- This IS vacation season (Thanksgiving in the US), so not everuone's down with the FA lowdown.
To those happy to see those like me go, *finger* I don't need you. To those who might not like what those like me like, but are still willing to give some respect, I accept that respect, even if it's not total acceptance. That's all I ask of anyone.
For me, I guess, this gives me a chance to start all over. I will miss the good times, here. And it's been a good three and a half years, with both ups and downs.
Like I said, until my need for FA is finished, I can still be reached here, but if you want, you can find me at http://inkbunny.net/dmfalk :) I could certainly welcome a few old faces, hugs or whatever, and it would more than make my day to keep my friends around after the move. :)

Transitions: Take no prisoners, but hostages are OK
Posted 15 years agoI'll try to clarify something I said:
I've stated that what the FA admins did was "stupid", because they banned cub porn after-the-fact, in the hopes of appeasement to AlertPay. AlertPay is the real bad guy, here, not FA, and as I've said, appeasement just doesn't work. AlertPay can easily say, that even if it wasn't in the contract, FA breached the contract by having cub porn (as it's actually illegal in Canada, where AlertPay is based from), and even if FA rectified their end, they'd still be in breach, and have forfeited all moneys currently in their AlertPay account...which is in the several thousands of dollars...which thdey won't get back. Essentially, the ban is moot, being it's ex post facto (after the fact), and it won't change a thing.
What's needed is a PayPal/AlertPay-type system by furries for furries, one that wouldb't cause all this mess.

Transitions: Part 3...
Posted 15 years agoJust so you know, my Tiny Toons stories could be considered "cub porn", being that the characters are canonically 13-14, therefore underage, so yeah-- Expect them to disappear soonish.
As soon as I've made sure I have all my files from here, I'll be uploading them to Inkbunny. (Same account name, new site, so I'm easy to find- On Inkbunny, click on "Members" and search for "dmfalk"- I'm there, and as of this writing, I haven't updated my avatar yet, but there IS a squirrel-and-panty-related journal....)

Transitions: Sooner than later...
Posted 15 years agoIn a clear case of closing-the-barn-doors-after-the-horses-escaped syndrome, FA has decided to ban cub porn, AFTER their principle donation conduit AlertPay closed FA's account and stole what money was in their account....which they won't get back, nor will AlertPay restore their agreement. FA got fucked by AlertPay, plain and simple, and now AFTER THE FACT, punishes all cub art fans by banning cub porn, when it really doesn't matter at this point.
Stupid. Really stupid.
Like I said before, APPEASEMENT NEVER EVER WORKS! AlertPay's gone, outta here- Get over it! And it's not fair to punish cub artists and fans when it won't solve ANYTHING.
FurAffinity lost alot of money, and they won't see it returned without court time, which is expensive, and pretty much guaranteed to lose, considering the basis of AlertPay's closure of FA's account: cub porn.
So cub art/porn fans like me lose out, here.
There's still Inkbunny, which is run by a couple cub fans.
I'll be moving my stuff there over the next couple days, and leave everything here intact, until FA decides all four of my accounts are abandoned accounts.
That said, it's been a nice ride up until now, but now FA will truly begin to suffer, and punishing us after the fact doesn't help. It won't make things improve for FA anytime soon. The damage is already done. Apparently, AlertPay's been pulling similar stunts all over the 'net, and I doubt this'll go any better for FA.
Anyhoo, that's it for me, here-- Same account name, different site! Hopefully things'll fair better for Inkbunny, as they use AlertPay, too, and even had some lawyers make sure things would be copacetic, considering content... If not, they better find a way to pull out of AlertPay!

Transitions....
Posted 15 years agoRecent events here on FA might- and I stress MIGHT- force me to leave FA, but I won't leave until the situation warrants it.
That said, I'm now on Inkbunny, and will be quietly adding all my non-photographic uploads from here to there. Those who +watch me here, may I suggest +watching me there, too? And anyone who knows who/what I +watch/+fave here, I'd like to know if you're/they're there, too.
Everything that's currently here on FA will remain for anyone interested. I will not delete.
I'm keeping all options open.
[Edit: Oh, yeah-- FA, until further notice, will remain my PRIMARY site, for now.]
