So...2024...
Posted 8 months ago...Was good for me, but only personally. I got out of debt in late 2023, and progressed slowly towards responsible adulthood. I got into D&D and am head over heels for the "World's Nicest Necromancer", his friends and their adventures. I was more responsible about video games...for a little while. I think I should do the No New Games Until I Beat One I Already Have Again. I held to that until May previously.
Deep went through another shift of his Identity form into "The Papabeast". I'm becoming more honest with my preferences and kinks, which also includes "sub kinks" I am NOT into, and being firmer about my boundaries. It's amazing how many things people default think I'm into because I'm into something else, and how quickly they dive into the B they think MUST come with A. (I won't give examples). Despite that, I really hope he, and I, create a welcoming environment for people who speak to us.
Let's talk about the White Elephant in the room. I am Canadian. Our closest ally (whom people think of us as a lighter, sometimes weaker version of, grr) have not only drank the Kool-Aid but seem to be doing a juice cleanse with it. He's got all my political representatives in a tizzy, with them eager to have their own election. Please, No. I don't like JT much, but it's clear if it happens we'll either get PP, eager to Leeroy Jenkins the country in his own direction, and JS, who only seems to know how to whine about the other two. We look to be circling the same crusty drain our neighbours are, and our leaders are eagerly paddling TOWARD it.
Finally, I might be in a position, if I continue to behave and work, to have my own space again. But everything is a maybe at best with how crazed the world is on so many levels.
I'm cautiously optimistic up close...and battering down the hatches big picture.
Take care of yourselves, dammit, and anyone else you can. No one's getting out of this in good condition on their own.

State of the Doughbeast Address, End of 2017
Posted 7 years ago2017 was hard on bloody everyone, but for me, being a step removed from the nation most stressed by the year, I still wasn't spared.
I did not find a job at all this year. I did some under the table work, but that means I'll be filling out my Tax Return this year with an income of ZERO, and what Revenue Canada will do with this info terrifies me. I'm afraid I'm gonna be led in proverbial chains to all those ineffective programs I saw in the past: The NINE MONTH, 40 hr/week class on writing my resume and taking interviews, the program that only cares if you're employed, not gainfully or reasonably, or some damn trades program (I am NOT skilled with my hands).
Moreover, the latter part of year, the major theme was Loved Ones Losing Loved Ones. Three different people I know lost someone close to them. I was a step too removed from the departed to feel a lot for them, but I still had to watch important people to me have their limits tested.
Lastly, I'm becoming a bit more angry. The L'appel du vide ("Call of the Void" the term for little morbid thoughts you have) has been very strong, even for tinier calls like hauling off on people verbally. I don't like this person developing in me at all...
I can only hope 2018 is better to us all. Sorry for the pity party.

Remember, from 8 AM Mountain on Saturday to 8 AM Mountain on Sunday, I'll be playing games non stop for my charity, Extra Life. That's 25 hours! (Yes, that means I'll be playing through the Daylight Savings Fallback...Yikes.). This is my Sixth year doing it, and there are gonna be some shakeups, so you need to know a few minor rules if yer gonna sit in for any amount of time.
One: This year I'll be doing the job from my Sister's Place in Edmonton. This means A: I may have to be quieter during the night shift, and B: My Nephew will be around. That means that while the kids are up and with me, the Stream is G rated with an extra caveat on Furry Topics. Keep it clean in chat if you attend during the day and into the evening, and don't post anything on topics you wouldn't want to have to explain to a 7 year old AND their parents.
The upside of this is that I may have extra commentators, we may break from video to play games with the kids, and more!
Two: When it gets quiet, I may take on guest hosts! I've already darn near promised one person.
Three, and this is very important, are the rules for keeping the stream flowing:
~ First of all, is keeping me on point. "This game is boring, you should be playing X" doesn't help me keep going for 25 hours.
~ Yes, I will be on Steam, I will be on Discord. NO. TEXT. MESSAGES. It's distracting.
~ I might set up a channel for chatting. Understand if you're on that, EVERYONE CAN HEAR YOU. Keep it clean.
And Lastly...I've given you all a month to suggest games. I will not take suggestions to play games I don't have, I don't care how short a download it is. Downloading is not playing.
This honestly happens every. Goddamn. Year. Silence for a month, then everyone has an idea at showtime.
Here are tentative ideas:
~ My Annual No-Whistles Front-To-Back run of Super Mario Bros. 3.
~ Banjo-Kazooie or Super Mario 64.
~ An interactive Jackbox Segment (Warning to Jackbox fans, I HATE the games involving Drawing, because I can't, so don't expect them).
~ At some point something I can't stream welll will be played. I'll do all I can to make it watchable.

This'll be my Sixth year taking on Extra Life: A 25 hour gaming marathon. Yes, Twenty FIVE. It takes place during daylight savings to get that extra hour in. My efforts will be raising money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which number over 170 worldwide, including the Alberta Children's Hospital right in my hometown (go look up a picture, they remodeled it to look lego-y, it's awesome).
November 4th from 8AM Mountain Time to the same time november 5th, including the fall-back hour, I'll be streaming my whole run as much as possible. Expect action, suspense, horrible jokes, swearing (lots of swearing, honestly) and more!
I'll be looking for help from you, and not just in the obvious way (Which is here at http://www.extra-life.org/participant/BenPepin ). I'll be listing guidelines to suggest games to play, and perhaps putting on warm-up streams if people are interested, for which I'd wanna know ideal times.
I'll keep you posted as I go. I hope you'll peek in during the big show!

2: You don't have to donate the amounts suggested! There is an OTHER option at the bottom of the list of Donate options. No one really cares how much you donate, as much as you thought to give.
3: I will be hard to contact this weekend. Tonight I will go to bed early, tomorrow is the show, and Sunday I will be recuperating. I will not be on Telegram, and if I'm on Discord and Steam, I won't be answering text messages. At most I'll answer requests for an invite to the voice server I'm THINKING about being on while I stream. Or they may be small periods where I take on a cohost.
4: See the earlier post for game suggesting. DO IT NOW! If I don't have immediate access to it during the Marathon and its suggested, it's not happening. If it has a pricetag it's DEFINITELY not happening. And DON'T buy me a game for the stream! Donate to the cause instead! Buying a game creates obligation to play it, Steam doesn't play and download at the same time, and there's the chance it'll fail to work. Graphic intensive games are a bad idea, I'm gonna be running two other programs at the same time to make this stream work, and my laptop is four years old.

6: Lemme know when you come and go. Just your presence is great support.
7: You want to play with me? Please understand...I CAN NOT STOP. The more people involved the more chance we'll be sitting around because someone's whatever went off. So you gotta be prepped to go and going. Multiplayer will be limited because also, those programs may lead to lag.

~ Steam games should not be graphic intensive or jumpscare games. Undertale may not be chosen.
~ PS4: Destiny, SFV, Mortal Kombat XL,
2: I cannot buy new games. I cannot download mods that are not idiot proof. No Kaizo Mods.
3: DON'T OFFER TO BUY ME A GAME. That's money not being donated to the charity, and it creates an obligation to play it. Murphy's Law, it won't want to work, you won't be on when it does, etc.
4: Make your suggestions NOW, not in the middle of the marathon. Downloading isn't playing. Gotta stay honest.
At some point I will likely Front-To-Back Super Mario Bros. 3 with no Whistles as I do most every year, unless a better idea for a full runthrough comes to mind. Ideas please!

It is possible some...Authenticity, will be lost as the better format costs me the official fonts.

Impressions on Sun & Moon Demo (Spoilers?)

~ Okay fine, can't set my name or gender or looks. This IS a Demo, we wanna keep it tight.
~ So I moved here from Kanto? Which one is that again, I always screw them up. *Checks* Original Red/Blue. Wonder if there'll be callbacks.
~ Oh Gods, I thought Team Skull were lame enough dressing like hoods, and all that black in the sun, but now they move like wannabe rappers SAVE ME FROM THE CRINGE!
~ Dang Greninja is Overpowered as all get-out. Guess they didn't want people struggling during the demo, but eesh!
~ You study moves HOW, Professor? Getting hit with them? That raises some creepy implications, Kukui!
~ Is it me or does Hau look like he could be Kukui's son?
~ Full on Pokemon models in the overworld YAAAAS. Machamp YAAAAAS. Shame mine isn't following me.
~ Battle menus show you if moves are Super or Not Very Effective. Not sure if want. Great for my Nephew, though, as this'll be his first game and Uncle can't be around to help all the time.

Posted 9 years agoOkay...since the last update, XSplit refuses to work. (Yes I have reinstalled it, AND reinstalled it after erasing all trace of the program's existence from my computer. It's borked.)
I need a new, idiot-proof streaming program pronto, so I can be Extra Life prepared.
Oh yeah, Extra Life uin less than a month. Details to come on that.

Posted 9 years agoWell, it's october, and people have been screaming their special monthly Portmanteaus since a week before. This is where I would usually push for a Hyper Month, Cocktober...but this year I'm not going to.
Instead I'm laying claim to a single day. I want the 28th, and it's gonna be Doughbeast Day. In order to properly celebrate it, I'll have to fully explain what a doughbeast is...that's coming soon. But yeah, I want one day to be all about my small but growing kin.
Why the 28th...well obviously because it's my Birthday. I'm gonna be 35...does that mean I need a literal grey muzzle now? Eesh, I've been around digital furs nearly 20 years now.
Also, I'll soon be making official announcements for this years Extra Life charity gaming marathon. I just need to find a new streaming program because XSplit's latest update causes it to never completely boot up. Advice there is appreciated.

For now I'm gauging Interest. Two people have priority, but beyond that, let's see.
$1.00 USD Per 200 Words, Rounded to nearest even dollar. Will likely stream stories as they're written. Times range from Midafternoon to Late Night, as befits the commissioner's schedule and my own.
G to X available. Specialized in Growth/TF Themes, including Muscle, Fat, Hyper, Combinations, change in species, change in mentality/outlook, etc.
No Fly List: Nonsexual Fluids/Substances. Violence/Pain unnecessary to plot, gore, death, sexual abuse, illegal sexual activity, hermaphrodites.
Unsure? Ask me! Worst I can say is "No".
I also have ideas for YCH Stories. Multiple roles to fill may occur. Thoughts on that and its feasibility are appreciated.
