So I got a horse for my fiancé last Christmas and she's doing pretty bad. Turns out they lied to us about her age, looks like she's in her mid 30's per her teeth...which are now shot. She's struggling to eat, though she hoovers up soaked grain. It's getting hard to keep weight on her. And to add to all that, she's getting so stiff and sore on her front end due to arthritis. So, we are facing down having her euthanized. We also need a new horse so my gelding isn't alone so we don't even have time to mourn really. The joy and stress over buying a horse are overshadowed by also losing one we love...but for the sanity of my gelding we can't wait. So like...art is gonna be very slow for a bit. We are feeling some big emotions right now.

So I've made the decision to sell my horse OC. He comes with a shit-tonne of art by many artists, some of it definitely NSFW, and he comes with a FA account with all the art within. There is a caveat: all the original files are lost, as are all physical items. Struggling to upload a new avatar. Not working! Frustrating.

Our caseload at work just went CRAZY so I'm working longer days, basically I show up, treat all the patients on my schedule, then go home. Some days, I work 4 hours...some days I work 11 hours. Right now we are FUCKIN BUSY, and so my days are long. And after, I'm freaking exhausted. So artwork is gonna slow down from me for a little bit. Like tonight? I'm too tired to draw. Gonna watch a nature documentary then sleeeeeep.

Been a while, hasn't it?

Life got crazy. Mostly bad, then some good, then back to bad, rinse lather repeat. I ended up hating art and didn't create much until I started to remember why I love it.

Fast forward to now.

Finally got a reliable way to do art again. So that's nice.

I'm not who I was. I'm not better nor worse than I was. But I guess I'm back? And I like creating again.

My old shitty laptop had an ancient version of Photoshop that didn't reliably work with my new tablet (my old tablet broke, I got a rockin' awesome new one for Christmas). Today my pal Oncacrottafeathers installed a newer version of Photoshop. I AM JAZZED!!! I can finally get back to doing artwork!!!!!

I'm getting an updated version of photoshop ASAP, like in the next week or so, and I'm really hopeful I can get caught up on owed art shortly after that.

I know I’ve been pretty quiet here and everything but in some ways I’m barely holding it together. My tablet glitches out on the pressure sensitivity like every five minutes which means all art is unbelievably time consuming and ultra frustrating.

But worst of all, my little dog Cricket passed away. She was only 9 years old but had been diagnosed with heart and liver failure. She just couldn’t make it any longer.

I’d be lying if I said I was taking this well. I feel so awful that she couldn’t live a pain free life any more.

I kinda don’t know what to do.

I'm making my son's Halloween costume from scratch, so a lot of my art time right now is spent on that. Plus I'm super frustrated with my tablet which is STILL acting up. Just a head's up! Anyone else got kiddos looking forward to the holiday?

My kitty is spending the day at the vet's office, for testing. I'm so worried!!!

Had a pretty basic, routine medical procedure yesterday early morning. It was routine and totally fine, and afterwards I felt okay. I was okay enough they released me. But literally within the drive home, I started to feel awful. SPLITTING headache so bad I couldn't open my eyes, the light hurt me...and nausea. It progressed rapidly to a brutal head pain I couldn't tolerate, and constant vomiting. Since I hadn't eaten anything the whole day before to prepare, and had no food the morning of the procedure, I was basically retching up bile and foamy gunk. Called the surgeon who treated me and she was like "YUP GO TO THE ER NOW" so I did. Spent the rest of the day there so they could both treat me and observe me. I was prodded a lot, had tons of blood drawn, two IV lines, it was awful. I am still not great...I'm infinitely better but I feel awful still. I have FINALLY managed some food though (I ate toast an hour ago and haven't thrown it back up, yay!) and I'm on the mend but I'm gonna take a couple days off to recover.

So if you don't hear back from me in notes or comments for a couple days, that's why.

I'm working on a couple ref sheets for myself and for a friend and I was just thinking...what should any good refference sheet include? What should be left off? Like poses, detail shots, expressions, et cetera? Looking for input from artists who have to utilize these refs specifically!!!

I've had a cold for like a week, and it's not any better. If anything, worse. I'm taking a LOT of time to just curl up in blankets with hot tea right now.

Any good home remedies would be appreciated. I've got a LOT of congestion, sore throat, cough, all-over body aches. No fever, oddly enough...I am REALLY chilly to be honest which is weird because I usually run warm these days and love feeling cold...but this is like, unpleasant cold chills.

Been hammering fluids, vitamin C, and LOTS of good food.
