Posted 13 years agoI cannot stand watermarked artwork unless it's an adoptable or something of the sort. In my opinion, it's incredibly tacky to either plaster your name across an image or hide your signature within it somewhere. Somehow I almost find it conceited... but then again I find some happy emoticons sarcastic no matter how they're used ;). Am I the only one who feels this way or is this just another example of me being a grumpy fag? (it happens pretty often. )

Posted 13 years agoI say "computerless" because all I've got as a back up is a 4 year old Macbook Pro, and well.. you know.
My Asus finally gave up its struggle and I was able to put a flash drive in and save the majority of the shaders and models I made for second life before it was too late. Phil ordered me a new ultra spiff laptop that'll be here on monday, and then I'll have to figure out how to find the programs I've lost.
I actually made a legit purchase and bought 3D Coat, but it was one of those licenses that allow for only one install on one system. so I guess I'm fucked there. The only other big issue would be Photoshop CS5, as Sai I have a source for and blender is free.
WUWUWUWWUW hopefully this new machine wont melt or fail me :) When it comes to anything technical, I'm about as good with a computer as my 89 year old grandmother, so I asked or some help in picking a new laptop.

Posted 13 years agoI've been putting off a vent journal for quite a while because honestly, the main thing about FA that annoys me are the "oh my god my life sucks/it's worse than yours/pls feel sorry for me" journals that occasionally pop up in my watch. I don't want pity, I don't want you to feel sorry for me, but I want to put what I've been struggling with down somewhere. It always helps to vent, in my case anyway.
As some of you know, I've recently had a very rough time health-wise. I've been dealing with "undiagnosed" health issues for years, and it all came to a head, quite literally actually. Within the course of a week, I had almost completely lost my vision. After having an intense lumbar puncture (my opening pressure was well over 50. Keep in mind that 22 is too high. It sprayed out one measurement tube and into the next only to spray out the top like a rocket) I was diagnosed with inter-cranial hypertension, or more well known as pseudotumor cerebri. I had a shunt installed into my brain, it runs down through my neck and drains the excess spinal fluid into my stomach. My vision is still shaky, and I'm still in a lot of pain every day, but at least I know I'll be ok.
I've just been all-around depressed and I want to send out an apology to all the furiends I've been distant with. I still love you guys, I've just been feeling really shitty and snappy and I tend to avoid people when I'm like this.
Thanks go out to everyone that called/kept in touch with me while I was at the hospital, you guys are the best.
Hopefully soon enough, I'll feel better, start drawing more, uploading more etc. Til then, pls put up with dis insufferable bitch.

Posted 13 years agoRecently life has been very overwhelming between my mom's health troubles as well as my own. Everything seems magnified and because of that I've been in a very bitter mood. Although being depressed isn't an excuse for this, I'm sorry to everyone I've distanced myself from and or have been overly negative or snappy to. I love you guys.
Otherwise, im in the process of opening a mod store in SL, keep an eye out. Its finished, I just have to stop being lazy and open it. New mods the works as well.

In other news, Radiohead concert was beyond amazing. beyond amazing. I can't believe how good they were live. I was so close to Thom Yorke, yet so far.

Posted 13 years agoAs many of you know, my cat Jaspurr was doing very poorly the end of last week. Finally we got the results of his blood work and found out that he has diabetes and will be absolutely fine with some extra TLC. He's doing much better with the insulin. So relieved.
Next week I'll not only be seeing Radiohead, but 3 days after, Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko. suchabigbonerrightnow. fucking EXCITE. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

My friend Ame suggested I auction off a custom deer mod for Lindens and after considering it a bit, I think I'm going to give it a shot shortly so keep an eye out.
I've still got a few things to finish up beforehand- some textures for a friend of mine and whatnot but I'm actually excited about the idea. I'll most likely draw up a template for the winner to color flood with the colors of their choice to make things easy on everyone.
I'm also still very sick, turns out that what I thought was a virus was a bacterial infection in my lungs (pertussis? Idk how its spelled) and bronchitis. No wonder it wasn't going away lol. After an x-ray was taken of my chest due to me coughing up blood, they determined I had been hacking so much that it's causing issues internally. I was given some antibiotics and a syrup, as well as an inhaler and some breathing treatment at the hospital. Hopefully I'll be rid of this soon and be more alert and ready for more art/mods! I really can't wait to get some new stuff done. i have so many ideas @.@
On a side note, I'm doing a bit of reading up on mesh. I've made a few poopy little things but the real challenge is ahead of me- learning about retopology and how to UV properly. eventually I'd love to make full avatars, it would be so awesome to be able to do that and make my stupid characters and maybe stuff for friends as well.

Posted 13 years agoI'm sooooo sorry it's taking so long for me to get them finished. Part of that is just the way I obsess over seams and such but I've come down with some sort of flu/whooping cough. I wasn't feeling completely horrible until this evening, I've got a fever and some horrible stomach bug.

rant about texture theft

I want to rant a moment about some things, mostly out of pure boredom. (sorry momo, I won't be on Skype til tonight, got forced to the doctors.)
I've been in a reasonably bad mood the past week or so and I apologize if I've been snappy or irritable to anyone, but goddamn. As some of you are aware, the textures I made for the tabby mod were traced poorly and sold for a cheap price. A lot of my friends have this happen weekly and its something they are used to dealing with, but this is my first time and im dwelling on it. My designs are indeed imitated quite a bit by other modders and trust me I notice, but while this is annoying, it isn't stealing. Ripping and painting over is another story. I spend a lot of time using grids to line up seams and such and to see someone resell my hard work is BULLSHIT.
Ok I had to get that out.
On another note, I have hosted a few livestreams about texturing and my techniques that were open to questions and comments. I enjoy doing this quite a bit, I love teaching people things that I've figured out because i know the frustration of not having someone's brain to pick when i was learning. i may be making a group for this, separate from chimera because i feel bad putting out notices there. Ill keep you guys updated.

As a few of my friends on FA know, my dad works here.
I started getting phone calls about it about an hour after he had left for work. After a lot of worrying, I did get a call from him and he's ok and I'm very thankful and relieved about that.
I still really can't believe this happened.

Strugglin'
Posted 13 years agoI'm working on developing a digital coloring style (working very hard in fact!) I know it sounds like a big excuse as to why I suck so much, but I really have never put time into digital artwork. It's very very different, for me anyhow, than traditional art. Even as far as drawing goes, the coordination is weird compared to a pencil and paper.
As of right now, I start out with the best intentions, drawing a sketch, inking it on a different layer and I plan to color it on another, but for some reason it always ends up on one layer as I'm working. I find keeping track of layers mind boggling and prefer to do everything as I would traditionally. (to be honest, this is very odd of me to say because I work quite well when making textures for 3D models. keep my layers neat and clean and never have much issue. Drawing is drives me crazy though.)
I've gotta break from this!
After taking a few years break from drawing and painting, I'm completely behind and working very much to catch up and improve-- I just hope you guys put up with my crappy scribbles til I build up a proper style.
