HOLY CRAP COLLAB!!
General | Posted 15 years agoSo my buddy
informed me of an interesting deal I think you all should jump on asap!
and
are doing collab commissions for $10 a piece. Which is NOT BAD in the slightest!
Journal and details are here!
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1637257/
If ya are low on money ( like me with my bills >:C) write a journal or spread the word!
Remember the comment "I would but I don't have the money." Doesn't help you or the artist and only serves to take up space! Be part of the solution and not the problem! :3

New Challengers / Comment on Macros and Fatty/ Big guys
General | Posted 15 years agoAlright... WE HAVE NEW CHALLENGERS!!
has taken on the 100 challenge!! and HOLY CRAP... in the past few days so many EXTREMELY talented artists have flattered me by taking on the challenge... so there's only one way to honor this challenge... OVERWEALM THE HELL OUT OF THEM!! GO AHEAD!! BRING IT THE HELL ON!! SHOW THEM THE MEANING OF PAIN!!!! :3
Artists gotta art now show them!!
________________
So yeah regarding the title. One of the things that I have really enjoyed about taking on a lot of the commissions i have is the challenge. When it comes to macros, I think
said it best at dinner one night. There's good macro and bad macro art. Bad macro art is when the artist just draws the character in some generic pose and then draws the background with some minimalistic signals to show that they are huge. Like say a tree.. or a hill.. or a building. But a good one is when you actually design the picture by allowing the composition of the pic and the angle ( maybe not in my recent pic) but the perspective and allow those to compliment the overall pic and the personality of the character :3 I did something like that for
for his birthday yesterday where I have his character peering down into the city where my character Vex is looking up panicked as all get out.
Another thing is regarding the husky ( size not dog) community. The real challenge to get it done right is to actually know the human body, and well. Instead of making it look like there's a beachball stuffed under a shirt, if you understand how the body stretches and forms. In art school I saw a lot of people who had their own personal characters that had no real variance in their character designs. Like you could really just take away hair and clothes and it could be anyone since it was all the same body type. So doing a larger body type.. and doing it well reflecting realism and applying appeal really is a decent challenge. I saw my table mate
achieve this with a badge.. it was... REALLY amazing to see him achieve this by matching a proportionate head and body type, you can see it here... http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4293730
Overall, while in no way is it really something that I'd own as a personal fetish or anything, as an artist I drool at the challenge to achieve some sort of excellence so I get a bit excited when i get the chance to get better.
SO THANKS GUYS
Alright
So that out of the way, I've done all the WIPS for the cons I took on before RMFC and I'm starting on my sketch commission for AC and I should be posting some completed badges as well. The aim is to plow through these by the end of the week. I need to start saving for furfright and stabilizing my income a lil. :3
Alright guys! Take care in the mean time!!

Back From RMFC
General | Posted 15 years agoRMFC was wonderful.
You should remember that. I had an amazingly relaxing time. The city if Denver is beautiful and the con is still small and a growing con. Tried out the new thing where I do only sketchbook commissions and I seemed to do fairly well. I'm glad you guys like my sketch work! I went based on the recommendation of Kyell Gold, Kit, and
I'm glad they were so right.
Thursday was interesting. I arrived in a city where I really didn't have any close friends (well yet) So... I found out my roomate
had his flight cancelled so... I had nothing really to do on Thursday and no one to hang out with. I kinda wanted to sit in the lobby and have people come up and I just draw for them, but no one ( at least I think so) was around ... so I kinda kept to myself in my room. It was very interesting, never actually had a hotel room to myself out in the world before... I'M ALL GROWDED UP NAO!!
Sat between
and
both of which were awesome table mates. Put up with my rather loud, obnoxious, and apparently gay voices most of the day :3 One of the things I like about in close intimate settings like that is making friends like that :3 Kihu is amazingly talented, if you haven't seen his work you REALLY need to go check him out. Kamo was behind the Bad Dragon table and I got to hear all the awesome stories about moving all that merchandise through the airports lol.
Kyell and Kit made sure I was fed during the con kept inviting me to dinner ( knowing damn well I didn't have ANY plans lol probably making sure I didn't have an emo face during the whole con) ....Kyell.. Kit.. I will buy you a drink next time... DON'T MAKE ME BEAT YOU UP WITH MY MUSCLES..
I received an awesome pic of BraveOne from
as well as did an awesome trade with
who also did a wonderful rendition of BraveOne. Then did a trade with an artist named Lucky who did an ADORABLE sketch of braveone who I wish I could have done more for.. the sketch was beautiful!
At the end of the con
and I found ourselves in the lobby waiting for Kit, we were joined by
which it was fun to finally get a chance to sit and talk with the guy !
Had
and
take me to the airport. Two of the most awesome people that ever happened. Got to sit in the bar and chat a bit before my flight.
I really have to say, I didn't really have any bad experiences while at the con. Everyone was so friendly and so amazingly sweet. Seriously guys thank you so much for making it an awesome con! It was my first time to Colorado and you guys make me wanna come back, even without a con :3

General | Posted 15 years agoSo I do have a small request.
I have 2 Twitter names. One's a public one and the other's a private one.
DonryuArt is my public name that ANY of you can follow if you like! If I'm at a con it's the perfect way to find out where I am! If you want first dibs on a commission, I will open THERE first. Small silly updates here and there. The other one is just for buds and personal stuff only, besides most of my posts on there are dumb XP
So if you find my private name and I don't know you then please don't be offended if I reject you!
Take care everyone!

Commissions Update/ Controversial Survey
General | Posted 15 years agoI first of all want to say thank you to all of you who have waited very patiently for your commissions from AC.
On the current project that
and I are working on we are pouring into our fifth week which we didn't intend on doing. But when you have friends from out of town or faced with the largest furry con in existence...things tend to get a tad out of wack. So while I will be working on the project through this week, at the point of completion I will be immediately be working on my AC commissions and the comic for
___________________
So this is apparently the controversial survey...
Well to be honest you can or choose not to judge me based upon my answers. Though I will always anticipate someone to disagree... thus human nature :3
[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post
Do you have the guts to take the answers?
[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
No. I make it a point to not drink or smoke as is, drugs of a higher caliber are even more so out of the question.
[03] Abortion: for or against it?
It's your body ladies, you have the right to it!.... Just you know... let the father know...I mean ultimately it's your decision, but, guy's gotta know ( assuming he's around)
[04] Do you think a country would fail with a female president?
Stupidity is an equal opportunity employer.
[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
It is a pretty crowded prison system....
[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Okay this one you guys wouldn't like...
I think we spend enough money trying to warn and spread the word of the horrible effects of smoking and drinking and yet still suffer from the consequences at a higher rate than ever before. How is legalizing yet another drug suppposed to aid this cause? No I don't support the legalization of marijuana. No it's not the most addictive drug, and with very little exception, it's the most harmless, but we don't simply need anymore.
[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
Sex is right up there with eating and breathing. Be safe, be cautious, be consenting.
[08] Do you believe in God?
I do not have enough faith to not believe in God
[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
HELL yes. I do recall, long ago, that there was a separation of church and state.... where did we put that?
[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
There are many people in the US that should not be here legally. What ticks me off is that the people who do get here legally, and go through all the right paper work end up losing their jobs to those who are here illegally. I do think it's an issue we need to resolve. One to work on laws that more strictly enforce the deportation of illegal immigrants and on the other side making our laws a bit easier for those who wish to attain citizenship. The laws we have now make it practically impossible... not completely. Much work on both sides needs to be done.
[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
Unless the child has a well off family and parents or relatives willing to raise it, no. Child has the right to grow up with things like food and a fighting chance... not always the way things work out, but it's true.
[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
If you can die for our country at 18 and you should most certainly be allowed to drink at 18. I don't drink and I firmly believe in this.
[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
I don't know nearly enough about this situation and because of our country and the lack of information spread around because of the news, I'm afraid no one does. I can't give an opinion other than we should pull out until everyone has an idea of WHY we're over there.
[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
That should be a case-by-case issue, but overall if a person chooses self uthenization, we should not be allowed to interfere with that.
[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
....Get mah belt...
[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
I'd burn an American Flag for a million bucks, but I'd still die for my nation to defend my loved ones.
[17] Who do you think would have made a better president? McCain or Obama?
Little to the public's knowledge it was the same person ...MWAHAHAHAHAHA
[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Afraid? I filled this out full well knowing people would read it and would have judgments. They're free to do so just as I am free to post this.

Quote of the F$%^ing Day
General | Posted 15 years agoAn AC Journal IN FABULOUS 3D
General | Posted 15 years agoFirst of all...
It's is going to be near impossible for me to recall all of the events that had occured at Anthrocon and all the people since there were so many people and so many things going on that I couldn't possibly make mention of everything and everyone... so here we go..
I arrived Thursday at the con... I had been on the road for 11 hours and just jumped into the fray of things.. though I didn't look like I was in the best of moods. Registration, artshow setup, dealer setup, hotel room... THEN I could do things. Took me so long I just simply wasn't in a good mood. However I ended up having dinner with my good buddy
and running into
on my way so it was great seeing both a fammilliar and good friend, so after giving him a biiiig hug and a smooch I was off and in a fairly good ( MUCH better) mood.
Friday was AWESOME
Let's start off by me thanking ALL of you who met my mom!! She had a spectacular and wonderful time at the con!! Everyone was so kind and polite to my mother there!! There were so many things that could have gone wrong and instead you all acted like adults!!.. * sniffles* ya'll make me so proud!!!.
One of the awesome highlights there was getting to meet and have
come by my table!! It's one of those fun things where you have an artist that you've known about for soooooooo long and then suddenly getting a face to the name!
Stayed up muuuuch later than I should have which I would regret the next day but the time spent with others was so welcome.
Saturday I got up early
As my buddy
said "dude... you vanished" and yeah I tend to do that XP
Got myself all set up in the dealer's room and was SWAMPED the whole day.. but got visited by one of my favorite artists
who easily got me to fanboy. While I was ready to shell out the dough for a sketch from him, he actually insisted on a trade... So fighting back the inner fanboy, "Yes!" I squeaked :3!!
After dinner I headed to the zoo to work on more projects and hang with peeps, having my buddy Tredain keep me company... But man the lack of eating right and sleep caught up with me... So attempting to rush to the room, I ran into the line for the elevator, once at the room and with no one there at the time I curled up into a little Dono-ball finally outrunning a little nervous breakdown. I love meeting all of you but holy GOD I REALLLLY need to learn to pace myself!!
Sunday came 'round and I felt better after getting a little bit more of sleep ( 5 or 6 hours) Got a little bit of a chance to walk around and see other artists and ended up having dinner with my buddies
and others at a REALLY awesome place. A church that was converted into a restaurant... Upon my return to the con and before my return to the Zoo I ran into
.... ahem... didn't... realize he was on the same.. floor... >:3
My final night in the Zoo was a fun one getting to talk to alll my favorite people and hanging out with.. well practically the whole zoo....
AC was a spectacular con and I'd GLADLY do it again..
It was a pleasure meeting ALL of you!! Thank you all so much for making me feel so warm and welcome!!
As for commissions I will be returning notes and sending some out tomorrow after I get done with my quota of work on my current contract!! I love you all!

Ac first day
General | Posted 15 years agoAs of right now it's 8 am. I'm sitting here in the near empty zoo with my small breakfast kinda sorting out the day. Yesterday was a bit overwhelming, from the 11 hour drive, directly to set up and then simply just being overwhelmed by the sheer number of people. I had to sleep early so as not to spread my grumpy state of mind with the world :3.
Anywho I will probably chill out here in the zoo until I can continue my set up in the dealers room. I look forward to seein y'all!!

Toy Story 3 (spoilers probably)
General | Posted 15 years agoSo I have never been more reluctant to see a movie but I should know better by now. Pixar has yet to really disappoint me.
Part of the Pixar going experience is the short film. I ... reaaaallly should have known it was Teddy Newton from the getgo. The animation style is all him as well as the timing, pacing and the SHEER INSANITY. However it unifies with one theme of simply being as different as night and day. Not only that this film actually tests and pushes the mediums by PERFECTLY synchronizing 2D and 3D animation.. perfectly. I really can't summarize it, you guys have to go and see it. I really do think it's set a new bar for people to really look to. While, it is a push of the 2 mediums while at the same time unifying them, if you're a good movie goer, you aren't paying attention to the medium... you are so focused on the characters and what's going on inside them. You start to care and really relate to them in some way or form.. Seriously one of the best and more thought provoking shorts, all by achieving this by unifying the mediums and the plot in one fell swoop. Teddy, my heart goes out to you.
Now over the years... since I graduated high school in 2004 I've known about the production.. or not production.. then production again, cancellation and WE'RE DOING IT AGAIN of Toy Story 3. While sure there's a good many of you that are going to automatically start hating because it's "another sequel" in many respects it continues the story almost flawlessly, logically and maintains that sense of emotional attachment you've had with the characters. Like all movies this has it's weaknesses. Buzz seems gets more gag time rather than actual character time, and I feel a little detached from understanding the villain up to a certain point until it's explained by another toy. Pacing of course is perfect and the development is awesome. Since the deviousness and pure hatred from the villain ( a big ..purple bear of all things) seems to continuously reach new bounds. That was something that didn't disappoint me. if you're going to have a villain, make him a villain through and through. No silly redemption, only redemption for those who have crossed the line without knowing... this guy knew.. Wrapping this up, Pixar, as per usual doesn't fail when it comes to story, maybe sometimes rushed but there is always a strong backing to it ( Wall-E still being one of it's weakest movies along with Cars in my opinion... though that didn't stop me from owning them on DVD) And even in sequels they still manage to make a solid movie.. a damn good movie.
Effects wise...
You know people seem to think I'm this big 2D animation nazi and I REALLY am not. I love all forms of animation, my big thing is that it just simply has to be good. Genuine, and honest. However this doesn't mean that anal retentiveness doesn't go a long way in movies. Making sure the sense of believability is there is AMAZINGLY important. Effects and prop designers at Pixar ALL DESERVE TO GET LAID... NOW
There is a scene where the characters go through the garbage process.. I mean practically get close to being shopped up and incinerated... Not.. ONLY is there loads upon loads upon loads of garbage everywhere.... not only is that designed... BUT SO ARE MILLIONS AND BILLIONS AND TRILLIONS OF SHREDDED PIECES OF GARBAGE... Oh... my god... See now you can easily say that that's due to Pixar's budget but seriously, money only goes so far, that's passion for the work. To make sure that they are sifting and climbing and struggling through all these little pieces of garbage is just amazing.
The ending was perfect, I seriously think that little girl was an animator in training. She was awesome. Made me think of what I talked to Will Vinton about when I went to his dinner, "I think as animators you could call us professional kids." She was the embodiment of all that. Taking all these old toys and they becoming new gems, and treasuring them. That's kinda what being an animator is all about, taking what about your youth made it so valuable and what you look so fondly of.. and applying it to your artform.
And of course at the end of the night, as I'm heading home, I text
letting her know that... as per usual... I cried like a little bitch....*sob*
So my recommendation... go see it. It's a spectacular movie. Frankly it is kinda fun, in the dark having your heartstrings being pulled and plucked and crying your eyes out.
See you guys at AC!

My buddy
is actually quite brilliant when it comes to web development. If you need a site, he's the man :3

General | Posted 15 years agoAnger is an inevitable emotion that we will go through. It's sometimes warranted, rarely necessary to a resolution. However anger has never truly made anyone happy. However it seems as a culture, we spend a lot of time investing in it.
It is a natural thing. Most of the time it's best to have it run it's course. To feel that anger, be frustrated, beat up a pillow or whatever you need to do to run it through your system. What I mean though, investing time on anger, is that it has seem to become something we take advantage of. Subject of discussion. It's become the newest way to make a popular youtube video, by coming up with things to be pissed off about. Turning it into a funny thing but still lingering over the unbearable frustration, or videos that talk about all the inglorious injustices we have in the world that we can really only take on one at a time. With this consistent form of negativity forming and surrounding us, is it really so amazing that we are depressed majority of the time?
This in turn breeds cynicism. While when exaggerated it's somewhat funny, but using types of irony as a form of humor is a lot different than having a cope out attitude on life. Cynicism, from what I observe is an ignorant black and white look on life. It's easy to do. It defends you from disappointment by expecting a constant intake of underwhelming expectations, or none at all. When you exist in a simple state of disappointment then you lack the vision to see the good things that happen in your life or the foresight to see the opportunities to seize good things. It's almost as if it's turned what's good in life and things that are valuable into nothing at all. Talking to people of this nature are oftentimes hard to talk to or being around. If they cannot see the good around them then why bother being another pain in their ass?
As I've mentioned before we've glorified it. Is there something bothering you? Make a web video of it! Get animated! Yell and scream..and swear!! Other people will agree and then nothing will come of it. Nothing more than the worship of complacency. However.. what are we doing about the solutions?
These videos and states of mind only demonstrate a mental and emotional laziness. It's as if we seek these things to complain about and then expect someone else to take care of them, and then get even more so mad that no one does it. My advice is if there is something wrong in your life.. seek the solution, if it's out of your hands like say a traffic jam, or the end of the world, well there isn't anything to be done about it is there? Everyone else will need to face those things as well as you.
The world is fraught with a good number of injustices and simply frustrating things-though sitting around and complaining about it will not help. If you have the energy to complain- you have the energy to solve whatever the problem may be. It's within our power to wane the constant spread of negativity - we need only act on it.

Update on THINGS
General | Posted 15 years agoOkay so I thought I should share with you what's going on here so you guys know where I
I realllly do wanna thank you all for really just stepping it up when I needed commissions to sustain me since my job separation. I'm actually a lot happier doing this than what I was doing. If most of you are satisfied with the work then that means that I do have hope of continuing this. I would like this, at least for the time being, be my job until I start working more so industry side.
ANYWHO.
I'm finishing up some straggling commissions left over, nothing big but a few things to keep me afloat.
After those
and I have been signed on to a project that starts on the 10th doing storyboards and production design. Our contract starts on the tenth and so I'm really only going to have enough focus really for the other projects I have and an occasional commission.
has commissioned a comic of me and I'll be wrapping up working on the script for that and moving on the thumbnails either tomorrow or by the end of this week.
I've also been asked by a few friends of mine to do some designs for them which they've practically paid full time wages on. So for the next month and a half or so my focus will be directed on those. This doesn't mean I won't be opening up here and there for commissions
However as for now asr AC is coming up, I will only be doing badges before AC While Im AT AC HOWEVER, I will be taking sketch, ink, and badge commissions. ( no biggie since that's what I do at cons)
Soooo!
I still have 7 more slots available for Badge commissions
Current roster:
1)
IP
2)
IP
3)
IP
Badges are $25 a piece!! Please NOTE me if you're interested!!
