FWA ROLLLL CAAALLL!!
General | Posted 16 years agoFirst of all...
Everyone who offered their condolences on the loss of my dog Jackomo. While it hasn't hindered my progress on my commissions. It's still the loss of a friend. A good friend. I'm lucky to have my family and all of you guys.
Thanks again guys.
So now onto business...
Which one of you is going to FWA? All of you? GOOD! I look forward to seeing you all there! I'll be doing the usual. Sketches, badges, you name it! I've come to a point in my post MFF commissions where I'm about to start taking preorders. Tonight I simply need to re edit a preliminary sketch and start on
soba's sketchbook commission, as well as laminate and ship the remainder of the badge commissions I have... All of which can be done in the next 3 days...
soooooo
I'll be taking badge preorders tomorrow for FWA. I'm a local to this con so it'll be pretty easy for me to keep track of everything.
My price... $25... here's why I'm a little pricy...
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2912427/ these badges are reasonably big and I take my time. I'll open tomorrow! 20 slots!! Don't note me until then! I <3 you guys!!

Dear 2010: BRING IT OOOOON!!!
General | Posted 16 years agoOne of the things I am very happy about is that every day since December 15th 2008 I have excersized. A simple regimen of waking up a various number of sit ups and push ups, and before bed, the same. Those numbers increase over time and now, including the various cardio I do during the course of the week, every morning I do 100 sit ups and 80 push ups. At night 50 push ups and sit ups. Since then, I have walked confidently not being so self conscious of my own body. The fact I have been able to stick with it has made me very VERY proud. I've lost weight, my pants size has shrunk, and I can see arm muscles regardless of whether or not I flex!!
Another thing I have been proud of is starting that 100 sketch commission deal. Not only being the founder of it, being one of the few to complete it! I've improved greatly as an artist and thanks to the help of all of you guys and the enthusiasm you all brought. And now because of my little idea there are so many more of you starting up this challenge and so many of you so enthusiastic to draw! That's the point!! You're an artist, then you DRAW!!
I've graduated and have my Bachelor's in fine arts and animation. I have a new car and the amount of you watching an supporting me is growing.
thank you all so very very much! I seriously couldn't have been able to go as far as I have and improved as much as I have from all of you.
_________________________-
My goals for 2010 is to mainly shift my main source of income from my art. Which means I want to take on more commissions and produce far more work. I wanna join a studio and I wanna storyboard for awesome films but I need to take this one step at a time.
Going in to 2010 I realize I have a great deal of good people in my life. For that I'm really happy.
Thank you all so very much and have a happy new year.
PS...
2010 *cracks knuckles* LETS DO THIS!!

General | Posted 16 years agoWell it seems my last image made quite the impression!
I seriously hate using Vex as a personal representation of myself and usually isn't unless I kinda have to use him. Sooo don't take that last image http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3194011 too seriously... just some composition and color work I was having fun with, no biggie.
I seemed to have relaxed a lot more in the last few days now that the holidays are over. They just tend to remind me of all the types of people I just don't like. You see quite a bit of them in retail.
One of which in particular bugged me. Came in and took note of the game for Avatar. He kept pointing out. "That'll make a l,ot of money!" not to mention he kept pointing out how much GameStop the company would be making. I ... really don't understand this fascination with money, especially if you're not the one making it. It's not a measure of personal success to me, I mean "Twilight" made a whole lot of money, this by no intents and purposes makes it good.
I mean if one of the animators, modelers, lighters, writers, producers or even James Cameron himself came in and said, "MAN! Avatar is making a lot of money!" Well.. I get that! It's his movie, and he's making money off it. I'd be happy to at the success of a creation of mine. But moreso I'd be happy that a personal project of mine was completed and came out the way I wanted it rather than how much money it was pulling in.
As I've said before, "Money is a great means of convenience.. it is however not a convenient means of greatness." I don't think it's bad to make a lot of money. I think it's awesome and hell I'd love to pay off my school tuition and credit card bills and live comfortably, or even help my family and some of my friends achieve that.. But the money can't define me.
Anywho.. enough of that rant. My personal aim is to finish all my MFF leftover commissions before or at least by a little after the new year. Then I'll open up for new ones.
Let me ask you guys something.
How do comic pages and turnarounds sound for stuff to commission?
lemme hear your feedback!!
Thanks!

General | Posted 16 years agoWell it is that time of year!
Unfortunately I was at the front lines of re-tail hell (though thankfully not at walmart) But I got home and my mind was set at ease. I found myself very very happy.
My older brother, his girlfriend, my younger brother ( down from Cape Cod) and my father came back from Floriday for Christmas.
My buddy
vincentwolfe came by and pretty much ownsauced any chance of anyone out doing him for Christmas. Thanks to him I now own a clean up sketch of Stitch from the TV show of Lilo and Stitch, the artbook for Princess in the Frog.. and an original animation sketch from The Rescuers Down Under. OMG... it's got the mini ex chart for all the keys and tweens of Jake (It's the scene he realizes Miss Bianca isn't married) Honestly Owning a piece of my childhood like that, especially the second animated movie I saw in theaters is just such a rush of heartwarming awesomeness.
And for the first time in years I'll get to enjoy Christmas with my loved ones which I really couldn't have asked for more. You don't really have to believe in any deity to really understand and enjoy being surrounded by those you love. Whether family, friends, or both. Just be greatful for the things you have rather than mourn the things you don't. :3
Happy Holidays everyone!!

General | Posted 16 years agoSo I went to see Avatar today with
vincentwolfe ,
seanblackthorne and
]-[3l .
This is a movie that is definitely driven by effects. The plot takes a very definite back seat to the visuals but very close behind and kind of whispering in the ear telling it how to drive.
Mr. Cameron handled it very well. This was a plot that has been used time and time again. As you have heard correctly.. Dances with Wolves.. the Last Samurai.. just thankfully not including Tom Cruise.
Understand I wasn't very excited to go see this movie and one of the things I hate to say was making me a little bitter about seeing it were people were just going on and on and on about the visuals. I'm at a point in my life where visuals don't excite me. People getting excited about movies like Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children and other such films pisses me off to no end. It's like congratulating very beautifully executed stupidity.
I don't find this movie to be one of those that will stand out particularly, but time will tell how well it does. It's gotten to the point where oscars don't mean much outside of that year, (Remember that one movie? Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon?)
So I don't feel this will be a movie that's a disappointment. it's most certainly a fun movie. But I wouldn't personally put it up there with one of those movies that will carve themselves in the annals of history for being the greats.
__________________________
So from my previous entry I think it's important I bring this up.
One.. I'm sorry if I came across as bitchy and moany. I promise that there was a real message in there. In all honesty though I shouldn't write something like that when I'm both tired and irritated. I had someone constantly pick at me about an issue, which just sorta compounded over the evening which brought that up. Though I feel it's important so I'll keep it there until it becomes another one of those online embarassments ( much like a lot of my past entries on lj)
Though I think it's important that I expand upon this.
My problem was simply being talked to eye to eye. I've moved on from that silly juvenile state of mind where just because you talk to someone you are their friend. Though I do think it's necessary to be, at the very least, polite. If it's someone where it clicks, cool, I'll pursue a friendship, if it doesn't.. well then it doesn't and I go home and move on with the rest of my life.
fisk and
vincentwolfe brought up something important which made me want to explore more of my definition of equality.
I do believe there are people that deserve special attention or do belong to special groups. If you perform, work, or whatever above and beyond, then you deserve above and beyond treatment or payment. Just as, in a paralleled form, a punishment for a crime will be befitting a crime. ( Like say petty theft won't be treated with the death sentence)
Everyone is born with the same opportunities regardless of financial position, ethnicity or location. You have the same capabilities of creating those opportunities as well as taking advantage of them. It is the choices we make and the opportunities we seize that will define us. Looking at someone eye to eye and understanding this very common, very true trait shouldn't be that much of a struggle though it is seems to be so.
I really hope that answered more questions than it raised.

Heroes, Eletism, ETC
General | Posted 16 years agoI have to say the last few months have presented themselves with their own set of challenges. A new flavor, seasonings etc. Really quite a few disappointments.
Everyone is human. This is something I've had to learn on many levels and possibly multitudes of times. A few personal heroes of mine have turned out to be disappointments. Simple as that. I don't mean people who've given up on life etc. I mean people who just like the idea of being better than everyone else. A sense of eletism.
What hurts the most, I feel, is not that unintentional offensiveness, but when they go out of their way to make sure you know you're not welcome in their world without outright saying anything but with body gestures and various social awkwardness ( avoiding eye contact, turning to talk to everyone else but you, going out of their way to avoid you).. but then thinking you're too stupid to understand it. Had something come to a hilt recently regarding an issue like this.
Something like this hits you to the core. Especially when it's someone you admire. Having something like this happen multiple times with different people in different forms. Constantly made me wonder what makes me less as a human being?
Then I realized what kind of people I do have in my life... so my next question was... how do douche bags like these get this skilled or in such a high position being this much of a jerk? The experiences and personal blows that occured make being a douche bag like these guys a very very tempting path. As if you could get back at them somehow by giving it right back.
The harder decision was to take it.. and just simply smile.. and move forward. That seemed like the harder one.. but because of that, it also seemed like the right one. I CAN'T look down on people... at all. We all live under the same sky and breath the same air.
Out of some sort of attempt to preserve my mental health and the hope of an above and beyond professional career I withhold talking about every single story and instance that happens to me. No matter who it is, I try to keep the situation between me and the person. Professional discretion as well as personal discretion is just important. It's not everyone elses business. But I've asked myself before why it is, while I sit and suffer and take every single peer down from some of these people. Every look of "I'm better than you." I return with an awkward glance curious as to what I did wrong. But.. I didn't
It is the bane of Eletism and it exists in every facet of life. And somehow.. for whatever reason it exists here. In the furry fandom. I'm sorry.. this is the last place to say you are better than everyone else.
There are those who simply aknowlege only those who they deem to have a skill equal to or greater than their own. (Regardless or not if they actually possess both the drive, and the skill to back it up)
There are also those who join simply so they can look down on the fandom. Every fandom and walk of life has it's freaks and lowlifes... but.. if you aren't enjoying the party.. then why stay? if there are more pros than cons then clearly it's not as bad as you say it is.
To close-
No one is better than anyone else and don't even consider giving into the idea of inequality. There are those more skilled than others in every facet and fashion, but that doesn't make a person better than you. Don't be afraid to have heroes. Though take the time to find that inspiration you got from them inside you. If you let that inspiration show, then it had always been there to begin with.
Okay.. a bit of a ramble but I had something on my mind.

A Belated Birthday Post for a Good Friend
General | Posted 16 years agoYou know, I have a knack for finding wonderful people. Not just the nice kind of people. The people who are genuinly good.
psychoshounen celebrated her birthday yesterday. If there is one person I had more history with, it would have to be myself because I've had Erin as a friend for 16 years now.
Both her and I were latchkey kids at the same YMCA day camp up in Port Huron, Michigan. I was going into third and her into fourth grade. I found out in the middle of that summer that I would be moving to the same town as her. After spending a miserable year in Port Huron (thanks to certain members of the public school system) We moved to another town, Marysville, where Erin lived. While we weren't terribly close she was one of those people that was kinda there and I would play baseball with during recess.
One of the coolest things about her was that while we weren't really close friends, and I didn't have any, she didn't care and let me play regardless. Her and I really didn't start becoming really close friends until middle school. I started getting into the whole anime thing and started trying to follow my brother (http://kuroitora.deviantart.com) as an artist. Found out she was an artist too! So her and our little art group would get together and art.
When the Detroit News and Detroit Freepress unions went on strike and the mainly union town started coming down on our family, ( sending death threats, kids alienating me etc) She didn't care at all, and kept being my friend. She knew I was the same person despite what all the little sheeple knew.
We dated for a bit through late middle school and early highschool. Put through trial and tribulation one after another. Yet no matter what we were still friends.
I moved down here to GA and we re learned how good of friends we were. To be honest, while I have a great deal many of acquaintances and good people. But people like Erin, Alex, and Nick are people I can't replace.. I'm so lucky to know you Erin. Happy birthday!!

Guilty Pleasure Meme
General | Posted 16 years agoWhile this fandom is chalk full of them I figured we'd share the ones that more on the geeky or nerdy side...
I'll start since well.. Mine's probably going to be one of the worse and you'll feel better as a person after I've said it.

The Princess and the Frog
General | Posted 16 years agoSo for the longest time I have been wary of this movie.
Not because of some need to avoid the popular consensus. More than anything to I want to work as a storyboard artist for 2d animation... but I didn't want to see this movie fanboyed over because it was 2d or anything or because it had cute critters in it. I wanted to see a good movie receive good press...No one seemed to understand how important the success and execution of this movie really was. How much was on the line.
Frog Princess is excellent. Go see this movie. It was quite obvious that the animators and everyone worked on this movie pouring every ounce of passion they had. Seeing this movie showed me that Disney can and is back on track.
This movie is beautiful and for many reasons. After a good few months of discouragement, this movie reminded me of my passion for this profession. Reminded me why I'm pounding so hard on the doors to get in. Why I shouldn't and will not stop.
Go see this movie, support it. See it a few times. You'll be glad you did. Hell if you're local I'LL GO WITH YOU! Just please go see this movie. More movies like this need to be made!!
If you know anyone that helped make this movie.. go hug them! NOW!!

My Birthday Event- Silent Auction Still Going!!
General | Posted 16 years agoSo
dior took the time to talk about my birthday event.
I will be honest, it was quite possibly the best birthday I've ever had.

all attended my birthday party at my favorite Japanese place.
The people at the Japanese place knew who I was already ( stroked my ego thuroughly) and were happy to not only provide a reservation for us, but gave us our own private room. So much food and so many awesome people.
Then today,
took me out to an awesome dinner at an Italian restaraunt that was.. well orgasmic is an understatement...
the one thing I walked away with was happy knowing that I had all of these awesome people in my life. You all... everyone who wished me a happy birthday, gave me gifts, everything. Thank you so much.

Silent Auction - An Experiment - Commissions to Ship!
General | Posted 16 years agoSooo
First of all I need to thank everyone that commissioned me from MFF and all commissions I will start attacking tomorrow ( to answer all your questions )
Okay so..
I have yet to find a full time job and I kinda want to make art my full time job. The idea is, along with commissions, I want to eventually start up regular auctions.
I'm thinking of making originals to sell for auctions. and I'd like to get an idea where to start, or even to see if you guys would be interested.

MFF/ Thanksgiving
General | Posted 16 years agoSo today started out interestingly enough. Woke up at 4 am to escort KamiCheetah and Gunmouth to a family gathering about 200 miles South of here. Just got back not but a half hour ago XP. I felt a bit compelled understanding the importance of being around family and loved ones during the holidays. So!
In that light, HAPPY THANKS GIVING EVERYONE! EAT HEARTY AND GIVE THOSE TURKEYS A REASON TO FEAR YOU! ... and to all you Canadians "Ohhh wooow you're soooo special! You had your Thanksgiving early!! You're soooooooooooo cool! I wish I could be as cool as you Canada! What with your hockey sticks and syrup."

MFF!!
To start! Thank you to.

Thank you all and everyone who commissioned me ( as well as anyone I may be forgetting ^^;
I had a ridiculous amount of fun, getting to know new people, and drawing for you all! It was a real pleasure and I look forward to going back! Ya'll were amazingly kind to me and I can't thank you all ENOUGH!!
I do want to make a special thank you to
jacent for driving the way he did. The man is a road warrior. WE WILL STOP WHEN WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF GAS!! heehee, which is probably why we got there in record time. Go to his page! Watch him! Profess your undying love for him! XP
______________
So that's all I got for now!!
Take care and have a happy turkey day!

I'm back from MFF ( since yesterday )
General | Posted 16 years agoOkay.. full thank yous, note replies, comment replies, and full on shaggings will occur tomorrow for my afterthoughts on MFF.
In short I had a great time! Though
jacent and I arrived in Atlanta at 1 am and I had an opening shift the following day. Seriously, I didn't get HOME until 4 in the afternoon today!
Not to mention, day of the trip back I got hit with a freelance gig so I suddenly got busy!
And don't worry folks I have all your commissions listed here and I'll jump on those ASAP. I just don't wanna work on them when I can barely grasp anatomy.. much less the concept of keeping my eyes open!
See ya'll then!
