Well as you can see I hit a bit of a spot.. .I've stuck at 20 commissions.. So I hope you all don't mind me asking a favor.

PIMP ME OUT PLEASE!! If you want a $20 commission TELL ME! If you know people that need a $20 commission TELL THEM!! I NEED TO ART AND YOUR HELP IN ORDER TO DO SO!! HAAALP!!

Well before I get to the roster update, I hope you guys forgive me. Last 2 days have been a little bit on the stress side. Of the few things causing stress one has been it feels like in the last week or so I've been stepping on more toes while trying to avoid them. One of those things where I just don't mean any harm but I end up doing so regardless.

Also yesterday morning, amidst sleep, I receive a phone call from what sounds like a robot with a southern accent. The Art Institute has been handing out my resume to random companies. The company that this Kentucky Fried Terminator had been calling from was a photography company. He told me absolutely nothing about the job and we agreed to meet at 10 30 at the company, an hour and a half away from where I work....

So after I had awoken later on in the day, during business hours I tried calling this man back... a few times. Trying to get an understanding of what the job position was, and where in this business park I could locate him.

I receive no call back. All I know is that it's a full time job with full benefits..

So despite him NOT CALLING ME BACK IN THE MORNING trying to find his place, I arrive 15 minutes ahead of time and he still makes me wait. At this point I feel this guy is trying to teach me a lesson in being professional, or trying to run me through some silly tests while I chase after this job like a mouse chases after some monterey jack.

I sit down and he runs through this series of questions, even more so disengaging than he was on the phone, like a recording. Not really seeming to care what the answers are. He shows me around to the back where it feels like the most dismal life suckingly gray environment ever.

The job is simple enough. Ready school even photos (sports and what not) for printing) No one is talking, no one is smiling. I understand that work shouldn't necessarily be fun. How about tolerable? All of the people there are about my age.

Here's why I got from it. An older guy trying to take advantage of having younger people work for him. Running them around through some sort of game of cat and mouse when it comes to a job. I have yet to find myself in a desperate enough situation where I feel the obligation to go through such a disrespectful circle of BS, maybe when I am, I'll swallow my pride and do it.

I'm not saying I'm good enough for the studios I aim to join, but I most certainly feel I deserve a little more respect than someone playing cat and mouse. Benefits and money don't entice or attract me. ( Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have lots of money, but then again, there aren't that many people that don't)

Well... My first and foremost question is this.

What do you think of the $20 Commission idea? While I understand someone might be a little more reluctant to shell out $20 on a drawing rather than a meager $5, I'm wondering if you all think it's a good deal!

I still haven't approached my 50 mark but I'm working on it. So if you all think it is worthwhile let other people know! And don't be afraid to ask!

Another Question

Well some of you may know that I'm working on a comic simply because I want to. It's about 34 pages long and involves my favorite cow gal Half N' Half who's character belongs to  striderorion

My question here is, what is a reasonable size to post a comic page here on FA? I'd like to make sure the images are large enough so people can see them, as well as read the dialogue where there is some, as well as understand the art that has gone into it. Any input would be very much appreciated!!

Yes!

So while watching John Carpenter's "The Thing" at my bud  vincentwolfe 's place I receive a text from my father saying that the internet apperantly poofed on...

Well while that's all well and good, 4 days of no internet ( especially when 2 of the 3 people living in the house make a certain amount of money because of it ) is absolutely unnacceptable so my father has been looking into other options for interwebs. I do hope this won't happen again.

I will be working on more stuff tomorrow.

Until then I have a WHOLE BUNCH of unapproved sketches! So please! If you have commissioned me and have yet to approve the sketch I've done of it I refuse to actually color until the sketch is approved! PLEASE KEEP TRACK PEEPS!!

Movies N' Stuff

So during my visit with Shaun,  psychoshounen and  kbooki in the Port Huron area of Michigan ( hold up your right hand with the palm facing you to have your general map of Michigan, look at your thumb and right under the little line before the actual thumb print is on the right side is where Marysville and Port Huron would be ) We went to see a few movies.

GI Joe...
A terrrrrible movie.. But fun as all getout. I totally dug Cobra Commander. Felt like a Saturday Morning cartoon show come to life :3

Well It wasn't horrible! I was anticipating it to be fairly bad but that's probably because I work at GameStop and the ads for it run ever 2 minutes... >:C I wasn't expecting it to be shot well and to have a relatively good story. Still cheesy to a degree but not half bad!

You know I've seen both of these and I was thuroughly impressed by this movie. No computer animation or anything. Completely animatronic and what not and still creepy. The movie was beautifully shot, very effective and no throw away shots. I highly recommend this movie if you haven't seen it yet.

Ponyo ( On a Cliff By the Sea)

You know I still don't know how to feel about this movie. It's really well done and the style is really cool. Feels like it came out of a children's book. It seemed to have just suddenly lead to a climax so I was a tad confused. Buuuuut the more I think about it, the more I do like it.

Inglourious Basterds

HELL.. YES..

Go see this movie now! I don't care if it's 4 am where you are! Camp out at a theater and wait until the theater opens! ... Though I guess it doesn't help that I'm a total Tarantino fan.

Angerrrrr...

Soooooooo. I get home from vacation and am immediately barraged by work and what not that i didn't get a chance to sit down and work, then the day after we have an epic thunderstorm. >:C This knocks our cable and internet out, in the morning when our internet isn't up we call up ComCACK who doesn't realize our internet isn't up. My father calls back a few hours later to find out what the deal is ..

"We though you wanted it for Tuesday!"

Now I can understand how To-day and TUEsday sound simmilar.. but how is it our internet can be down for more than 10 hours and they don't pick it up?

Anyway.. that aside, tonight, as I type I'm at  zimskunk's ,  zexyz and Puc's place because they've been waiting so long for a commission they paid for and so I can update you folks. I'm going to save some refs and try and finish up  maneater's commission.

I will try and have a decent update either tomorrow night or the night following, depending on when ComCACK gets off their butt.

First off I'd like to say this. I've said it before but there's a great deal more of you watching me now than when I said it before.

I don't really go to everyone's page and say "thank you for the watch." It's too easy to press a button and watch someone. But I will say this, it is INCREDIBLY flattering that people like your art enough that they want to be notified every time I post something.

Seriously guys, when I started the 100 sketch challenge I was barely at 700 watchers, now I'm approaching 1000, and I'm ridiculously flattered. Thank you all so very much. The support I get from you guys is amazing.

This is just something I want to get off my chest here.

I can't very well stop anyone from taking on the 100 sketch challenge. It's awesome to see people do something that I started. It feels invigorating.

But the whole reason I took it was to challenge myself. If people wanted to get multiple characters in the pic I took it! ( and charged accordingly of course) but I wanted to improve. I wanted to challenge myself and get the opportunity to draw things I wouldn't usually draw!

I don't see a lot of people really challenging themselves. Like I said I can't tell people what to do, and I most certainly can't blame people for making a living.

But why do you draw? Don't you love it? I draw because it's mainly who I am! I mean if you can't get 100 people to commission you then sketch 100 drawings.. sketch 1000! watch yourself grow and improve! Look at all the things you can do every time you challenge yourself! Don't be afraid to!

It's not about popularity, money, fans, watches, faves, comments whatever! It's about doing what you love to do!

I hope that you all do understand that!

Drawing from a sphere is pretty easy once you understand that the head is not a circle, but a sphere :3

Some general perspective problems, gesture drawings are fine, but when it comes to actually finishing the picture my work is lacking. Style is fine but I should be able to be a lot more flexible.

- What do you like to draw?
Scenes. Things happening! Telling a story! I like subtelty. Big wiminz.. like  striderorion's half n half :3 and Ritz's Illian

- Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
Primarily traditional, but the comic I'm doing is digital ( it will definately show how much work I have to improve digitally)

- Where do you start drawing from?
Heat to proportion the body, line of motion, rib cage, pelvis and appendages ( most of the time those fall into the line of motion)

- What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
I'll make heads look too similar. I need to change it up a bit and experiment with different shapes..

- Any tips for coloring/shading?
Light source AND DON'T DODGE AND BURN!! There is more colors of light than white and black!

- How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
How many different fingerprints are there in the universe..

- What music do you listen to while you draw?
Classical... oldschool game music that's been orchestrated.. old movies some times... anything to inspire.

- How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
I loooove green tea don't you?


- Your favorite drawing utensils?
Color erase pencils.. the kind ya sharpen.. fun lineweights

- Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?

I hate that word, style.. I like the sketchy look.

Today I was honored to be able to hang out with  flain  bonk and  scappo today. We went to an awesome burger place and enjoyed food. They all got to hear me yammer off their ears about art and philosophies. And with patience, tolerance, and sheer awesomeness they listened to me. What was great was listening to artist talk about their aspirations.. and not only that talk about WHAT they are doing to attain it. It's one thing to have a dream, and it's another to work toward that dream. It's a very honorable and character building trial that people have to go through. So I feel sooo much more charged about art now.

I just finished my routine workout, colored 3 pics ( slow night) and cleaning a bit..

Update tomorrow guys when I'm not exhausted beyond all reasoning!

Never.. EVER eat poorly. Make sure you are getting all your nutrients every day. Today was a great reason as to why.

While I was working on sketches to make sure I had a decent pile of work I could simply ink and marker today I became really emotionally fragile and I started shaking. At that point I realized it was 4 pm and I hadn't had anything with the exception of a cup of Masala Chai tea..

THAT'S NOT GOOD FOR ME!

So I had redrawn 2 pics and sketched 2 new ones.. and really just dropped the ball. On my way over to visit  zimskunk and  zexyz I stopped by a gas station and picked up a sandwich and an energy bar. I felt uncomfortably full but.. it was something.. and I stopped shaking.. so that's good..

Before I went the rest of the way I went to  jacent's and  kipfox's to pick up a cake which... I left behind again because I got into a fun conversation with Jacent over artists and stuff... So I left without my cake. Owell.. This just simply means I have another reason to go visit them. Be it the same reason as last time but a reason nonetheless :3 Sorry guys.. I'm retarded I know.

On another note I do need to warn you guys that from the 11th through the 18th I'll be visiting my friends in Michigan. 2 of which being  psychoshounen and  kbooki And I'm under strict orders not to work on any commissions.. so what I'll do is finish up as MANY as I can before then. Does that sound doable to everyone? So I'm going to try and finish the first 15 I have :3 I like being busy.

Hello everyone! Being that I've started things up again with my new special, I have already had a few notes...

This time around I am going to have to be a little more strict on the cut off line. I want to provide excellent turnaround time on my work, and while I think 50 is quite a bit, I do think it's doable. I do not however want to go beyond my bounds and not provide images I that I can't guarantee. So 50 will do :3

So according to  amonomega I have completely lost place of my witts. Marbles.. alllll gone...

I want to.. No I ABSOLUTELY DARE YOU..

I want to do 50 Full color commissions for $20 a piece. Not a hundred mind you, but 50 full color definately guarantees me for enough work to do 300 sketches...

So then if you bloody dare, if you think you're up for it... THEN SWAMP ME! BRING IT ON!!

Rules and stuff.

1) A single full color commission is $20 An extra character is another $5

2) Shipping is another $3

3) If you have already commissioned a sketch as part of the 100 sketch challenge I posed the price will only be $15. If there is another character in the pic in pre-commissioned pic I will not charge you extra, being that I already had ahead of time.

Typically I charge $50 per full color single character commission... I think $20 is pretty reasonable.. what do you think?

It's spectacular to see artists really getting into their craft! Remember artists! It may only be $5 but your art represents you! Don't slack ! Give it all you got!

So I'm happy to report that my good friend  fossil is now challenging all of you FA! He wants to draw 100 sketches of your characters! So...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?

See I was talking with him and he was saying "Oh woe is me! No one will commission me!" HA! I THINK NOT GOOD SIR!!

Before I get to the roster update I have to say I'm really really excited to see more people are taking on this challenge! For once I wanted to see artists drawing because they love to draw. They can make a lot of money in the process and people can easily attain art of their characters without worrying about shelling out a fortune.

I initially took on the challenge to get myself to improve and accept whatever challenge I could to really improve my work, and in the process I really think I have done so. It's not that it's bad to see art as a business, but it's been leaned more to that point. What about art for the sake of art? Why not draw because you love to draw? I do, and I love improving!

I'm so excited, I've not only seen  amonomega and  fossil start this up but I've heard of other artists doing this. If you have a friend, you are or know of an artist who is doing the 100 sketch challenge TELL ME! Or have them tell me! I'm not the most viewed artist here on FA but I will be more than happy to pimp you guys out and get you guys circulating!! So long as you guys are producing art, I'll direct people to where the art is!

It's a real inspiration! Artists loving and creating art! Who'd a thunk!?
