Today was a good day for Otters ( Roster Update)
General | Posted 16 years agoWell.. there was supposed to be a roster update yesterday.. but FA exploded in a blaze of glory..and quite possibly enough error 404's to make a geek blush....I have no idea what that means...
ANYWAY!
Regarding the title: I made a little more headway today with my sketches and was quite happy with the newest batch. I only hope you all will be as well. The two otter pics I did ended up having some great bg elements. I really like those the most ( this isn't to say the rest are horrible)

Well today I've been in a general winning mood. And by winning, i mean blood thirsty and hatred driven. I truly only have myself to blame in regards to this. With a mixture of poor health choices regarding food and not sleeping too well followed by an opening shift at the store I'm not going to update the roster tonight though I will be working on commissions. I will probably load them tomorrow as well update the roster.

Roster Update 7/22 (and 7/23)

Sorry about yesterday folks but I had quite a bit of things going on in order to get back on track with these. I had my laptop fixed by Puc ( who is now featured in the 65th sketch in my scraps) and had a multitude of other things pinning against me. Like a lack of sleep.. and I don't draw well with a lack of sleep.
One of the things I wanted to do in order to do what I really wanted in regards to this project was really get into gear, drawing a whole bunch of varied things. while I may only be charging $5 per sketch I want to give you an effort that far surpasses that and I sure hope that all of those who have received sketches are all satisfied with what I've produced..

I do apologize for the lack of a visual update today, it was a rather busy day that involved a lack of sleep, junking an old car, cable... and 7 hours of work at my other job.... Unfortunately my work when I'm not rested looks a little.. well terrible.. So I'll just update you all on the remaining sketches and the people that have been added to the roster.

$5 Sketch Update (HOME STRETCH!!)

One of the most flattering things, I beleive, is finding out that someone has decided to watch you. While it may not be a big deal to the person on the other end who clicks the button, I do have to say it is awesome to think that, "Hey.. this guy thinks my artwork is good enough to follow and get notified every time I make something." And as I've been doing this 100 sketch bonanza, I've realized I now have over a hundred more people now watching me than when I began.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you all very, very much. I make it a point to say hi to you all and compliment the art if I have the time to take a look. I wanna make sure all of you get a unique response from me. I may not be successful at it all the time, but I do try.
Now to update the many of you that have watched me in the last 2 days I'll tell you what's going on.
As a challenge to myself and ALL of FA that I wanted to draw 100 $5 sketches. Not so much for me but to really put myself to the test and improve my work. So I have dared ALL of you to commission me so I can reach this 100 goal..

Uphill Battle

You'll have to forgive me, I'm currently having issues with my main computer in trying to connect to the internet so I'm using my secondary one. The other one is the one I would use the scanner in, since for the last 6 hours or so I've been disconnected I've been unable to access my references for the $5 sketches only until recently.
I am very very VERY sorry for the delay folks and I'll work as hard as possible to get up to date with all my artwork. Again, thank you all for your patience.
(One thing after another eh?)

General | Posted 16 years agoI broke my brain today o.O I sat there and just had art constipation while drawing. One of my aims while drawing all these was trying to put all I had into ever single one of them to make sure they are all worthwhile pictures overall. So forgive me, I am trying!! Today has been rather productive, and being that i've done quite a few and seem relatively caught up, I can work on a few of my other commissions :3
So I've run into a small miscount of sorts..
I got ahead of myself and do not have 52 sketches commissioned of me, I have 49 (before this update), however I added up all the ones that I technically have and I'm off by one, so I'd end up with a total of 48 sketches by the end of this... sooo... what am I missing!? Well I went through and counted all of them... so if you see a blip in numbers it will be because I am just keeping myself up to date... So forgive me ahead of time!! ( I'm also too lazy to go back and correct all of them) :3

So I got my new artbook in today :3, "The Ancient Book of Sex and Science" By some of Pixar's lead story and conceptional artist's ; Scott Morse, Lou Romano ( you may recall his voice as Linguini in RATATOUILLE) Don Shank, and Nate Wragg.
The book is signed by 2 of the guys.. I highly recommend it, the artwork is so beautiful, it really reminds me of the hayday of Mary Blaire and such artists. Plus it has an introduction by Pete Doctor ( Director of UP and MONSTERS INC) Both movies of which made me cry.
Alright guys that's all I have!

General | Posted 16 years agoExcuse me as I join the herds upon legions of people that make their posts regarding Michael Jackson today and yesterday but I'd be lying if I said he didn't influence me or inspire me in any way.
Way back when I was drawn into Michael Jackson and his music when Moonwalker and Smooth Criminal came out. I had in turn seen the video when he danced with Spike the Rabbit. For a good while, whenever I saw his videos, for whatever reason, it meant that something big and awesome was about to happen. To this day I still listen to his music. I actually have a collection of Vinyl including the Thriller album and Diana Ross presents The Jackson 5. That's right, I have music that dates back from the beginning because for the longest time I was a Michael Jackson fan. Hell, back in 4th grade I read the book his mom wrote about the family and their past.
So with this said, I've seen that it's pretty easy to crack a joke or two regarding him. He's become the punch line to so many jokes. In some or a lot of cases he had brought it on himself. With very few exception however... no one really knew him. He had family and maybe some friends. But to many, including myself, he was simply an idea. Idolization does that. People become something else, not more, but they transform into ideas, we project what we want them to be. What it is we want out of people maybe, or what we wish we could see within ourselves. Even maybe we wish it could be true that something of Olympian stature could really exist among us. But like most or all of us, Michael was a person. Parents lost their son and siblings lost their brother...
This age of undeserved entitlement we seem to live in now a days where in which we feel we deserve things that we don't have, which somehow is a defense mechanism when we want something. Being so reliant on material things for status and fulfillment we forget the actual fulfillment of having people we know and who know us.
Michael seemed to unfortunately be the man so immersed by the culture of celebrity that he couldn't find his way out. While he had his family, the amount of people that knew him and friends he had were very limited. Most of them of which seemed to be either people that wanted to use him or people that liked the celebrity side of him. And he may have never truly had a chance to grow or know the man he was or could have been because of this.
It's stuff like this that makes me grateful for the friends I do have. That while I do not have many friends I do have few good friends that do know me. While we do know that there are many people out there, many of us refuse to open up to someone else, much less ourselves, quite possibly out of fear.
So I suppose the best way I can really wrap this up is that Michael did in fact bring something good to this world. But please understand that there is quite enough lonliness in this world. Try to get to know the people around you, or enjoy the time you have with the friends you have, and on occasion let them know that you really enjoy being around them. We mull around our lives being islands of people not willing to share what little we have to offer. Don't be afraid to share your life.
I suppose I rambled but whatever. Take what you like from it.

Because I'm a total douche bag and totally forgot the person who walked two people in front of me.
astrozerk04 who worked as an animator on As Seen On Tv alongside me and who had been one of my best friends ALL throughout my college career. I felt so bad not mentioning her in my last journal I felt I had to mention her here.Not to mention my best bud,
vincentwolfe who has been there for me through thick and think regardless the situation. Seriously, no one could ask for a better friend.. so he did even better. Go figure... eh?I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it. This whole idea of no school, that one constant in my life that has just seemed to always be there. I mean back in 04 when I graduated highschool I drove to Atlanta and started school 2 weeks later. So it's like it's never actually stopped. But now it's not there. Now the rest is really up to me.
To be honest I wish to really maintain or even nurture the passion I have for what I want to do in the animation industry. While I've been able to really practice it here, I really want to grow and expand. I mean that's the whole point of me doing this. It's not about the money, becoming famous, popular etc... I want to grow and I don't want to stop growing. I never want to stop improving and I want to keep working with artists around me...
I could really keep going on about this but really it'd be redundant.

So I saw that book that seemed to be that hot button a few months back. That "Furverts" book. I really don't see anything particularly threatening. If only for a few reasons.
1) In reality, most of the suits I've seen at cons ( much less at football games and the like) are so much more innovative and higher quality. There's so much imagination, character and passion that people like
jill0r and 
latinvixen really put into those suits. The stuff I saw looked like middle school mascot rejects. All I see this book in particular is reflecting the person who wrote it and his own ignorance.2) In reality yes there are people that do this. But it's behind closed doors. What does it matter? What are you worried about? Unless you're one of those douche bags that goes out in a pride parade in fursuit baring your genetals and start humping other equally fluffy cohorts then really I wouldn't be worried about it.
What you do behind the door and in the privacy of your own bedroom is your business. No one has the right to really bust your chops being there are so many MANY other fetishes outside of this minuscule fandom. As I have made a point of saying before: unless you're the kind that makes a point of making sure that everyone knows what you do behind closed doors, then you have nothing to be ashamed of do you?
Graduation

Today was fairly important. And it's been mulling around in my head about how big it is. I graduated alongside friends. amonomega you were greatly missed there man.
jacent despite the rainstorm of poopoo, I have to say I was very very very honored to have been able to walk alongside you. ( This made a most interesting after graduation mob, seeing 
kamicheetah 
gunmouth and 
bonk there. Clearly they were there for jacent XP) But it was good to see them nonetheless.
I was lucky enough to have my mother, father, both my brothers (http://kuroitora.deviantart.com and http://tempestfury.deviantart.com , and Dan's girlfriend http://luciole.deviantart.com ) as well as my stepfather and my teacher Lee. I got to have many important people there for me....
And now...It's time for the real world...
...Oh I do hope it's ready for me...don't worry world... deep breaths.
