Still kicking. Been working on the next part of Broken World 3. It's coming along, albeit very slowly. About 18k words thus far, with one longer scene and one shorter one still to go before the first draft is done.

The delay is kinda my fault, but not in a way I would've expected. I'm currently rounding out third work trip of the year. I've done six weeks of travel in a three month period, and it's really wearing on my mental health and stamina (and magicka, but that's a useless stat anyway) in a way I wasn't expecting. I also thought I'd be having a lot of free time to work on the project, and I have but the environmental conditions and stress are kinda bringing that to a crawl. Went from not seeing the sun for two weeks to back home for a week to not seeing it for another two weeks. That alone is kinda messing with me a lot. But this will be the last trip of the year and for the month of December I should have a lot more free time. I'm excited to bring this part of the story to a close, as it will set up the road to the ending pretty clearly. I absolutely love this job, but it's without a doubt the most bizarre job in the universe, so I have to beg for your patience.

After that, I have a few easy stories I want to write--a M/F demon horsie romantic thingie and a werewolf-hunter-turned-werewolf one. Then back to Lura and friends I suppose.

Sorry it took so long. This one was hard to write for a number of reasons, mostly trying to fix plot points before they become plot holes. Good news is that it's over 21k words of the adventures of the three bestest of friends and their zany cartoon sidekick so it's a hefty read--and I even put transformation and sex in this one! I completely forgot those two things usually go in a TF story. The next three parts should go a lot quicker, though I'm going to jump on some easier stuff first.

I am, however, going to be a dick and withhold posting it just yet because I've commissioned a fantastic TF artist to bring to life a scene from the story and I'd like to post both of them at the same time. Been writing quite a bit, just very busy these days. Hopefully that'll change as the year goes on. Also taking drawing lessons, so maybe you'll see some of my characters drawn by me soon. And by soon I mean in like fifteen years.

Currently working on first part of the last act for Broken World and pretty far into it. I originally wanted to have three parts for the final act, but I think it'll end up being four. I'm thinking that before it releases I'll probably switch to working on a standalone short romance/horror thing while my brain recharges a bit.

So now that my new thumbnails have been around for a while, what’s the consensus? A lot of people didn’t like them. Have they grown on you, or do you still not like them? No wrong answer.

It's been at 95% done for like two weeks but work and life post-FE have been busy. Not bad, just busy. I'm hoping it'll be done this weekend (if I can get away from family stuff as much as possible). It's a big one, about 23K words. I'm going to do an epilogue, and wanted to include the epilogue with the main text but it has just been too long and I really want to get this one out there. This one is kind've the "end" of the Lateral Move stories, or at least "season one." I'm sure I'll come back to the characters at some point, but this kinda wraps up a lot of plot points that I've left open until now. Epilogue will be short (and sweet), then it's probably on to a werewolf romance I'm cooking up.

Again, sorry, I really wanted this one out there like two weeks ago.

First draft is close to being done. This one is another goofy one, but hopefully uplifting and featuring character empowerment. After this, probably either the Belial-ish one or something very light, just normal smut. Then it's back to Willow, Mongrel, and they're super nice friend.

Also, Furnal Equinox is around the corner. If you're in Toronto, come say hi. I'm pretty easy to find if you know any TF people. If you don't, I'll be the tall angry looking bald guy at the bar.

Let me know what you think! So many writers out there employ a similar thumbnail style and I find myself more likely to read their stuff if I can see the subject matter contained therein at a glance. Y'know, because TF stories are fucking stoopid.

Still hope to have Mongrel 3 out this weekend. It is a bitch to edit and to keep plot holes away. For reference, the Broken World story is now longer than The Hobbit and is at best 2/3 of the way done. That ... kinda blows my mind, really.

Edit - Okay, tried making them pop a little more. I think these are a lot nicer, definitely catch the eye more. And I think having too many keywords just makes it looked too cluttered. Also, I tried to use one thumbnail per "category". So Broken World gets one, the Lateral Move universe (a.k.a. the DCU--Dorin (non)Cinematic Universe) gets another, regular-ass werewolf stories get another, and one-of stories each get their own. Probably will tidy up one or two more, but I think these look pretty nice.

Will be the final part of the second act, not the final part of the whole Broken World story. One more act to go for it, and I'll take a looooong break in between to write some regular old "werewoofs with booba" stories. Still really excited to be this far.

Reeeeally slowly, but it's happening. Working on the final part of Act 2 of Broken World, where a lot of fun stuff is going to happen to set up Act 3. I've seriously been having dreams about writing one scene in particular. If you like spooky, you'll like this.

Been super busy, haven't gotten nearly as much written as I'd have liked in the past few weeks. First draft of the possum story is about 75% done. Also, I FINALLY figured out how to make the next Lateral Move story work. Maybe not writing has my brain turning in weird directions. That or having nightmares literally every night for like a week. But I think I finally solved the whole plot thing. That'll probably be the next after Oplaying Opossum (I'm seriously considering making that the title). Most of the scenes are written anyway.

Regardless, happy holidays. Eggnog is healthy, as long as it has booze in it. Keep that in mind.

Didn't realize it's been a while since I posted an update. Obviously the were-tiger thing is out. Current plans are:
* Possum! Yes, really! With a special guest appearance by a few friendly faces. Still very standalone, though. Probably medium length with emphasis on some of the grungier aspects of TF. It's a possum, after all. They're adorably gross. Intro scenes are done, so it's moving along. Possum!
* Lateral Move 3 maybe. I've got so many fucking interconnected scenes written, but whenever I think I have an actual plot I just don't think it's right. At first it was far too dark and serious for that universe. Then I toned it down and it still seemed too dark. The whole universe is supposed to be very lighthearted, with the only real conflict coming from relationships and dealing with TF. So nothing too mean ... except for Russel, but fuck that guy. I'll figure something out, because I think the scenes are very fun and I love writing those two.
* Mongrel 3. The second one definitely had less readers than I anticipated, but that's how it goes with sequels--including werewolf sequels I guess. But there's still a part 3 outlined, the final part of the second act. I feel like this is going to be postponed, just because I've done too many werewolf stories lately.
* I've been meaning to write a Legends of Belial-type hyper-sexual TF. Like borderline body horror (but not actually horror-horror). I dunno if that'll get posted here, but if it doesn't I'll be sure to post a link to it. It's not really FA material, but maybe. It'll be more of a romance with two people having to deal with one having an insanely transformed body ... you know, something I ABSOLUTELY never do. Definitely not like 75% of my bullshit is that or anything.

When all else fails, I'll just come up with something goofy like three out of the last four. When in doubt, throw sixteen pairs of boobs on it and call it a day.

Gonna take a lot of rewrites, one of which is already done. Originally I had wanted it to be the end of Act 2 (with "The Mongrel" being the beginning of Act 2), but I think it makes more sense having a third part before going to the last act. Part two will be a little shorter, but probably still 25k words.

After that, I dunno. Lateral Move sequel is being put on hold. I have a ton of scenes written but every time I think I have the actual plot I realize it's not something I either think is interesting or it takes that universe in a direction I don't want it to. It'll happen when it happens. It sucks because I think the scenes themselves are fine, lots of sweet goofiness you'd expect between those two characters but I just don't know how to tie them together. There's a story in there somewhere, I'll find it eventually.

Other options are a Tom Waits tribute story (think I'm going with cat, likely a tiger or lion). An opossum short story that's already plotted out. I suppose I'll end up doing a Were and Tear sequel at some point because FUCK people liked that one a lot more than I was expecting. That may be a Halloween 2024 thing though, I dunno.

Took longer than I'd like, but I swore I'd get it out by Halloween. Short one (for me), probably 12k words. Just one more pass, so it should be up by the weekend. I've been switching jobs and kinda put through the wringer on my old one before starting the new one, so been kinda burned out but I'm chugging along.

After that:
* On to Mongrel 2 (or is that Broken World 6 or who knows at this point). I've had a few people wonder if I'll ever write a novel, and now the answer is definitely yes.
* Also I came up with another story today after buying hummus that I really, really wanna write. For that particular story, the TF animal doesn't really matter, so what would people want to see? More werewolf stuff? Cat one? Aardvark? I don't even know wtf an aardvark is.
* I had a Mark & Candice Lateral Move story outlined but decided I absolutely hated the direction it would take that world in so I kept what worked in a box and hoped I'd figure out how to make it work. But now I think I finally did, so that'll be in there somewhere.

Two - I think that was enough interest in the Discord, so I'll see about getting that up this weekend and posted here. I envision it will be a small place to just chill. Probably have a "TF chat" and "non-TF chat" channel, and that's about as detailed as I think I'd want to be. A huge pet peeve of mine is when someone brings up a topic that isn't 100% in line with the channel and someone immediately screams "this belongs better in the French Toast channel, not the Wheat Toast channel". It interferes with the flow of conversation way more and you know what I'm rambling again so I'll stop. I'll also probably post the links to some great other TF discords. I recommend Flagcatcher's as it's a lot of fun, and HIGHLY recommend K-Libra's Discord (my brother in the love of Chemosh).

Three - One more pass of the "super sacrilegious werewolf story" (which I still haven't named) tomorrow, then hopefully it will get posted Saturday. It's a short one, minor horror elements (no violence, just spooky vibes at the end), and heavy on smut. I can write sexy shit without throwing in depressing stuff. I can. I can do this. I can.

Four - Probably no one will notice this, but I'm going to be tidying up some of the stories in the Lateral Move universe. I had a recurring plot point that was retconned later and it wasn't until recently that I noticed the retcon actually contradicts more than I thought. The retcon is for the better and opens up the possibility for more stories in that universe (and particularly the stories that I like to write). It won't interfere with the plot or characterization at all, just the overall world really. For instance, one of the smallest changes will be that Candice and Mark never got married, but instead Mark is a scientist working for the government with the intention of capturing Candice and holding her hostage in exchange for come on you knew this sentence was complete bullshit when you started reading it so calm down I'm kidding.

Because some of my in-continuity stories are kinda getting all over the place, I’ve updated the descriptions for all of them. Now if there’s a sequel or prequel the description will provide a link to it. And if it’s from a world in which other stories take place (Broken World or the Lateral Move/Haley’s Clinic world) then it will provide a link to those as well, but with a note that says they are supplemental and aren’t required to read for that particular story. Hopefully that will be useful, because I get questions more frequently now about “wtf do I need to read for this one”. Usually the answer will be “none of them really,” but I do hope readers might want to check out other stories in that universe if they like one they’ve just read and this will hopefully be helpful for that.

Other question: Is there any interest in starting a Discord? It would obviously just be a small group but I think it would be fun to share stories, art, writing ideas and feedback, booze, or whatever. There are a lot bigger audiences out there than mine so I dunno if it’s worth it but I love engagement in this community, about my stuff and everybody else’s.

On the agenda now is another werewolf story, this time written with the specific purpose in mind of making sure I have a place in hell, if I don’t have one already. :D

I think I'm prepared to call it finished, or at least ready for one final touchup. It's a long one. Like novella length. Female werewolf/female human romance with one of those weird plot things I throw in for some fucking reason. I honestly had more fun writing this than I think I ever had with anything else of mine, so I hope like at least two people will read it. Maybe three. No, two is better, baby steps, dorin, baby steps.

Seriously though, there are depictions and descriptions of violence, gore, and death in this one, so please don't read if that's something you aren't okay with. Completely understandable. It is definitely not intentionally gore-for-gore's-sake, but the violence is there because the plot isn't possible without it. It is a romance though, so please don't think it's not going to have very, very happy moments. Going forward I'll try give out warnings for readers if a new story may be a darker one. About what you'd find in a rated "R" horror movie, and there shouldn't be any other triggering content other than what you'd find in one of those. I'll also put this warning before the story itself at the top of the page when it's up.
