screw the multiplayer i was only ever interested in the story and custom maps... but anyway

if you beat it i'd like to see what you think about the end of the game...

i felt it was kinda empty... but that could of course come from the fact that its a the first game
in a trilogy and the story isnt fully completed... but i dunno for some reason i just
found the end to be kinda "meh"

i also didnt feel there were that many missions to the story mode and most of the time
was spent watching cutscenes and talking to crew members aboard the hyperion...
i mean the hanson side missions only totaled to like 3 or 4.... for comparison sake
warcraft 3 had 38 missions original sc had 29 or 30 and sc2 has 26 and probably 9 were
completly optional... but ill point out the good point of offering options during missions and
seeing them play out.

the cutscenes were top notch even if the dialogue was a little cliched here and there

to summarize i enjoyed the story up till the end, the gameplay was lacking in quantity though
what was there for gameplay was fun.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the term, Netorare is the Japanese term for
the genre of Eroge (erotic game) that deal with the protagonist's lover or object of
affection being stolen away. IE. cheating. In most cases it usually involves a female
being seduced, blackmailed, or just in general being made unavailable emotionally or
sexually to the person who has a love (either requited or not) for her.

TLDR is at the bottom but I wanted you to know about the term first!

Examples always help. These are cliched but it works to expand on the idea for
people who dont really get variations on the theme.

1. The Wife loves her husband and he loves her, but he is called away on business
or they have a fight and he leaves for an undisclosed period of time. A neighbor who's
been infatuated with the wife takes the opportunity of her husband's absence to
seduce her. Over time she comes to have feelings for the neighbor but doesn't lose
her love for her husband either.

2. Same scenario as example 1. but let's add in blackmail as a way to get the adultery
going. The woman is blakmailed with evidence of a crime she committed or an affair she
had earlier as a means to get her to sleep with the blackmailer. In this scenario over time
she could either remain unwilling or becomes a willing participant in the ordeal.

3. High School boy has a unrequited love for the most beautiful girl in school. They are
childhood friends but he has never had the courage to confess his feelings. His indecisiveness
has lead him to over-analyze the repercussions of revealing his feelings. Cue in the jackass womanizer
who sets his sights on the girl and "steals" away.

Now I will confess and surely it's no secret that I peruse and read through my share of
Adult Manga. For one they are great reference material for poses and whatnot.. ok enough
trying to justify my perversions... anyway... In my experience, given the myriad number of genres in
Hentai; from rape, bestiality, incest, shota, loli, creeping, MILF, hell even scat. Netorare seems to illicit the
biggest response from people.

I only bring this up because I've been toying with the idea of doing a short handful of pages
furry comic with this subject in mind. But a few years ago when I was doodling non furry doujinshis
I did a three page comic about it too and the response I got was so overwhelmingly
negative. Comments like "you're wasting your talent" to "this is garbage" "pointless" and on and on.

There were a couple of, what i saw as, valid points. Like the genre objectifies women.
And I do agree. It just happens that most of the stories have the woman being stolen away but
the gender roles could easily be switched and I think it would still cause the same uproar.

I've been thinking about it recently and in my opinion I think it mainly had to do with the audience
of people who were vocal enough to pelt me and the genre with criticism. I mean sure it may not
be their cup of tea but why get their feathers ruffled? Calling the woman who cheats a slut and a whore
when she's completely fictional?

I guess they just put themselves in the situation of person being cheated on and work in the emotions
of betrayal that must come when the adultery is discovered.

I'm not advocating cheating on your significant other here. or vindicating those who have cheated.
just toying around with a story with adult situations. Sure I could do adult stories where adultery isnt
involved and it's just happy romantic baby making. I mean I will.

But what's wrong with a sordid tale of lust every now and then?

ahhh i still remember almost 2 years ago hearing about SC2...
if you dont care about the game dont bother reading this.. i will nerd rage

theres a TLDR version at the bottom for those who dont want to bother reading

anyway thoughts on the game so far as it is in beta stage...

Overall game looks great when you play from bird's eye view it looks Starcrafty
and the textures and details are amazing the effects look excellent... I LOVE seeing
little biological units melt away in green acid or flail around and die while on fire...
the new cloaked units look cool too they have this ethereal reflective quality to them
as opposed to just being kinda transparent

but... when u mouse wheel up and zoom in it just looks like Warcraft III but with
slightly more polygons... and I'm playing this on my Q9400 machine with a 9800GTX+
with 1 gb of ram.. the settings are on max.. or as the menu says "Ultra" I even have
shader set on "extreme" it still doesnt look all that great when u zoom in....

but its an RTS game and lets face it its better playing from the god perspective...

anyway critique on the individual races

Terran - as always the "balanced" species... The mechanics are mostly the same.
it still plays the same... the M&M (marine & marauder) combo is highly effective.
no one misses the firebat. I dislike the abandonment of the Wraith in favor of the
banshee.. which has no antiair capabilities oh yeah ghosts kick ass now... the snipe
ability is awesome sauce.

Zerg - the race that inspired the word that's known to most gamers. if u cant take it
down with strategy throw numbers at it... they moved hydralisks to Tier 2, and introduced
the roach.... Roaches are coooooool sauce... they melt faces and other body parts with
green acid... Ultralisks got great upgrades in utility but are still so late game i find them
to be not worth it. they kept the guardian in spirit with the brood lord. and the Queen got
made into a nice support defensive unit for the hives. spawn larvae is a great ability that
removed the necessity of having to build multiple hatcheries in your original base. they killed
lurkers off... i dunno why they did that... rumor has it they just removed it from the current
build and it might see a return.... they should bring it back it was a great unit... over all
zerg look the same... but dont feel the same... cant put my finger on why

Protoss - Toss feel the same.. they work the same... they pretty much are the same...
powerful and expensive pretty much sums it up... Warp Gates are friggin godly.... and
warp prisms just make it sweeter... Colossi are omgwtfbbq pwnage on clustered units
like marins and lings. Couple of dissapointments though... The Immortal's range is pathetic,
Phoenixes have no ground attack like the Scout had. and finally the mother-ship is a gigantic
disappointment... when they showed it on the preview video a year or so ago it had amazing
abilities... but they nerfed it into the ground... it's a goddamn fucking glorified ARBITER....
wait... its not even an arbiter... you could build MULTIPLE arbiters but you can only have ONE
mothership.... WTF is that?!?! mass recall and vortex are just the same abilities the arbiter had
recall and stasis field... oh yeah and they both had the cloaking field... what a joke...

TLDR

not too much has changed but the original game was by many people's account as close to
being perfect as it could get... sure there are improvements but alot of the changes feel like
they went backwards and that makes no sense in a game thats supposed to be set in the future
and about technoligical or in the zerg's case biological advancement.

In short... it feels more like an expansion to the original game with updated graphics...

but hell i'll still buy it... yes i know its still in beta and things are subject to change

dont expect much and you wont be dissapointed

anyway... i enjoy drawing my characters from Theria so expect to see more of them i suppose
that means i'll probably cut back on the random pictures of sexing but eh... i havent been too active
so no big loss right?

I've been sketching a lot of human females lately just to get back
in the zone for drawing faces. Not that I have a problem with drawing
furry femmes, any female is fine with me as long as i get to draw them...
well... the way i normally do...

but anyway... been using the journal feature on this site alot recently
and just thought i'd give you guys a heads up on what ive been up to...
it isnt just playing Aion and watching football with me...

though Aion is a contributing factor for my desire to draw human faces
did i ever mention the graphic engine and over all aesthetics in that game
are phenomenal? Plus that Beauty and the Beast Adult piece I drew a few weeks
back has been my most popular drawing... but that probably has more to do with
it being about childhood raepings than about human female faces.............

i'll be sure to draw the human femmes with furry males.. or female furries for some
lez lovings... you know so you guys don't cry foul if i ever post it up...

This journal entry is just for the curious. I posted the other day to see if anyone
was playing and i decided to give it a try.

AION is a story about two factions of a world torn apart when the Tower of Eternity,
the physical embodiment of the god Aion, is destroyed. The upper half of the world
was shadowed in Darkness and the humans that lived their evolved accordingly
to survive in their harsh environment. The bottom half of the world was bathed
in light and they prospered accordingly.

Then shit happens and they stumble across eachother and end up fighting, but
not before a 3rd evil faction pops up to threaten them both.

Now that that little backstory is out of the way let's get on with first impressions.

Graphics
Pros: The game is beautiful. No joke. It is very very very very well done
graphically. From the water effect to the armor and all the other numerous details
the game is breathtaking. They really did a lot with this game to make it immersive.
In snowy regions your character acts cold when left idle. Leaves fall from trees and
dance on the wind. Giant Whale like creatures swim in the sky. It's stunning.
Character Creation is awesome you are given the ability to create a very unique character.
I spent hours creating several different toons. It was engrossing.
Cons: It's still glitchy. Sometimes you'll pan the camera and textures will
overlap or flash as something else. Thought it might be my computer but low or high
settings it still does it. Like most MMOs alot of monster skins are recycled.

Sound
Pros: Great music. Great ambient sounds. Water sounds like water!
Cons: The voice acting is stiff. Some character made sounds are not
redone in english from the original Korean so It sounds high pitched
and overly melodramatic when they were just speaking English in another voice.
The Grunts from the female Scout as she's attacking seriously get annoying after a while.

Gameplay:
Pros: WINGS!!!!

Cons: Discussed below
Overall the game is breathtakingly beautiful but its not as polished as it should
be considering it had been out in Korea for a year prior to being released in North America.

Just to get a taste of the gameplay experience I leveled four different characters.
All of them base classes that can then branch into the advance classes. I took all
four toons from 1-10 up through the ascension quest where you get your wings.
I leveled a Warrior and Mage first through the Asmodaian Area. I chose Gladiator
and Sorcerer for their advanced classes. Then as a flip I leveled a priest and scout
on the Elyos side and made them a chanter and assassin respectively. I can say solidly
that I prefer the Asmodian characters. The story and gameplay on the Asmodian side
seemed to flow better. The terrain wasn't as hilly as the Elyos areas and was easier to
navigate. And I might be mistaken but when I leveled on the Asmodian Side I got a
necklace and a ring while running through the lowbie areas but didnt see anything like
that on the Elyos side. Speaking of the 1-10 experience only one starting zone for each
side blows chunks. No variety when you want another toon you have to go thru the same
starting zone. it's kind of linear too.

Being an MMO there are bound to be some growing pains so I'm letting alot of the cons slide
for now. Especially the insane amount of AFK people setting up their bazaar's so they don't
automatically log because of AFK. This seemed to happen more on the Asmodian side btw.
Speaking of the Asmodians they are the more popular race accoring to live sever status
measurements holding a 51% to 49% majority on all servers except the newest Fregion.
The Asmodians also tend to have the biggest diversity in character designs. I see people
making hulking orcs, burly dudes with feminine faces. and tiny midgets with giant heads.
The Elyos tend to be more human the biggest variation I saw among the Elyos was simply
a preteen aged toon as opposed to the standard mid 20s to 30s toon.

Misc toughts about Aion and MMO's in general
1. I hate quest based EXPing. No one wants to grind thru mobs for exp anymore?

2. I wish more MMO's would steal the FFXI job system. I enjoy the flexibility in being able
to change what my roll is for a group without having to log onto my other toon. WoW almost
got it right with the Talents and Dual Talent builds. This touches on Aion a little. There
needs to be more variety. Clerics being the only class to res with a spell is retarded
and Templars being the only tanks will create shortages eventually. You get multiple
Damage Dealers but only 1 tank and 1.5 healers with chanters being the .5

3. At least it will hold my attention till FFIV hits the market.
