Posted 14 years agoI have been trying to work from home today.
I installed cs5 on osx, and it worked for about 30 minutes
until I quit out of it to install some fonts, and now it won't open at all. I tried reinstalling it, restarting and nothin' works
presumably it's the fonts that did it, so aside from the fact that it won't work in OSX at all... now...
it's been super unstable in windows. We use it at work on Windows 7.
but I have a feeling this will be the last project we try it with because it's been causing so much trouble. Back to CS3 plz.
it does so much weird shit just randomly, it'll sometimes duplicate every symbol in the library, as empty symbols. I don't know why and it's spooky.
it also does this thing, where if you flip the contents of a symbol, then go out of the symbol, everything in the symbol disappears, won't even publish, it's just, poof, gone.
it makes, ghost graphics, of things that don't exist, like constantly. Like you can turn the visibility off for every layer and you'll still see shit that's not supposed to be there.
the only nice thing about it, IS THE LIBRARY IS SEARCHABLE!
has search bar,is nice. Man, if only it were in the least bit stable.
TLF text could be a nice feature but it looks like crap while editing and nobody knows how to publish streams, so to me that's pretty useless, just use static text for motion graphics, because if you don't you get that obnoxious NO STREAM AVAILABLE warning on preview. I just wanted to put that out there, since my old journal was no longer relevant. So anyway, now I'm creating motion graphics in Flash for games and interactive training simulations. It's pretty awesome. :D

However it is kind of like, not permanent, so my income is questionable. I would love to pick up some commissions for you guys in between gigs.
Here's my prices:
• $35/character, full color, full character 8x10"
• $20/conbadge, please specify the size requirement if not 3x4"
• $10/icon, please specify the size requirement if not 100px square
Clean art only please! All digital in Photoshop, the style will probably be soft-shading/lighting kind of like these:

Posted 15 years agoI'm starting a New Year's resolution to draw ONE sketch a day... that I post somewhere as proof. I hope to overachieve at this by drawing even more than that, but we'll see! I'm only on day 3.
Drawing was my original way of wasting time. Now it's all... watching tv... or eating... or sleeping, which is lame. I hope that this will get me back in the habit!
I was thinking about doing this, and then I thought I really should tell everybody so that I am held somewhat accountable.
So yeah, look forward to lots more catgirls and viera this year!
I'd actually appreciate any original sketch ideas you guys may have, please comment here! Note that I am not obligated to actually do any of them, so keep my style in mind. That is to say, I'm probably not gonna draw anything with crazy complicated backgrounds or like, cars or robots, give me easy things. lol.

I had a really good time! I mean really, really!
I would say that I now have a little more perspective and inspiration! It was very motivating to see all the artists at work. It was awesome to hang with friends. I mean, socializing and meeting new people is HARD WORK for me, haha, I feel like I just ran a marathon. It's all good though. People I hung with were really nice and chiillll...
My first day there, I WENT TO FURRRRRNANDO'S lol. and then... and then...
We hung out in the zoo and sketched and I tried to remember how to draw on paper, and bitched about there being no ctrl-Z in real life.
On Friday, I got into the Artist Alley, and found out I am a horrible salesman!
haha but thanks to some help from my table-neighbor, Zippiner, I think I made out alright!
On Saturday I was a huge slacker and slept in and didn't go the AA. I regretted it a little, but sleep was... needed. So I dropped off a painting commission, and just kind of meandered around the dealer's den and artist alley and chatted with some of the artists. I got Jimmie John's sammiches, which is a chain we don't have here in NYC, so that was a treat. I got some Starbucks with Karn. I watched the parade! I bought things. I had sushi boat!!! Time flew by, I can't even remember... But I DO remember, we watched fireworks, and ate s'mores, and drank BEER and WHISKEY and smelled the aroma of fine cigar smoke, and tried NOT TO FALL IN THE RIVER. In fact, it was a good thing I saved my energy because I wouldn't have be able to hop around and "dance" like I did at the drum dance whatever-majig after the fireworks. Oh man, that was a good show, some Pittsburgh natives even joined in briefly. Was that all the same day?
Sunday I was sad, because I had to leave that afternoon so I could get back to NYC on time for work today and all, but it was nice day, finally a sunny day in Pittsburgh. We got some breakfast from the Steel City Diner, the foood! I suffered food coma afterward. hahah whatev. I pretty much left without much ado! Sorry I didn't say goodbye to everyone. I had to rush to catch the shuttle. I even forgot about dropping off my room key. D:
It was great staying with beanie and tresch and mauricia and joeypoey! It goes without saying but, YOU GUYS ARE THE COOLEST.
But you know who's also cool? Here's who. All the people I got to stop and say a few words to...

I can't get HQ without using bootcamp on Mac but I have figured out how to smooth pixels and get a higher framerate, which is totally watchable! anyway! It also bothers me that my front page says +watch, but I can't watch myself. ;_;
I should totally be watching myself.
But not seriously.
Anyway! I don't know if I'm going to get much drawing done this week. I'm putting myself in training, gonna go the gym and lift weights, swim some laps, and then come home and pass out every day instead.
Who knows though, maybe working out this much will give me more energy to be productive instead of sitting around eating club crackers and easy-cheese when I have time off. D:

Posted 16 years agoI've been inspired to draw all day, but I was at work, so I all I managed was a half a sketch, and then I got home, and I was like WELL I HAVE TO GO WORK OUT. So I was good and I went swimming for a little bit and then I got home, and I watched Kung Fu Panda while I ate dinner (awesome movie!) Well, now it's too late and I should go to bed, BUT I JUST WANT TO DRAW! I want to finish that sketch I started. I wish I didn't need sleep!

I'm scared of dentists and strangers. This dentist is both because I have never been there before!!! I am extremely hopeful that they at least speak English fluently... :C
