off to work again
General | Posted 12 years agoYup, the time has come for me to go back to work after a 2 or 3 month? Holiday. This time I'll be heading to Seymour arm beside sushwap lake in the northern okanogan of bc. It's about 700 km from home and I'll be taking my trailer to a community about 40km from the jobsite, mainly because I don't like the idea of hauling my trailer 50 km up a logging road to save an hour total of daily drive time, plus there would be no cell service or internet out there. The job this time is working on a capacitor station for the 750 KV lines from the newly renovated mica creek dam.
I don't know how active I'll be on twitter or here during this time, as once again it is going to be a min. of 10 hr shifts excluding lunch and drive times, for ten days at a time. Never actually worked a shift that is only 10 in a row, it'll be an interesting change of pace.

back from AC
General | Posted 12 years agoWell,
onelonelyfoxmetall and me made it back from AC a little while ago. Got to meet lots of cool furs during our trip, but am not sure if we will be attending AC 2014. The one-bedroom parlour suite I scored us was awsome, had lots of room and an awsome view from the 25th floor. Made off with alotta cool swag such as 3
tanidareal 1 of 5 prints from the art show. Didn't get to suit as much as I would of liked, but need to make some minour adjustments to the head to make it more useable, and possibly use contact lenses so that the already limited vision doesn't become more limited as my glasses slide to the end of my nose.
Thank-you to
lavshep and
dershep for letting us crash at their apartment during our stay in ontario, it was greatly appreciated and I am very gratefull to you both for it. I kind of want to move to burlington, but with house prices as high as they are there, and wages as low as they are, it just is not feasable at this time.
I have also decided to attempt to open my own electrical contracting company that I hope to have fully going within the next two years. I have been in the trade for 10 years, and am sick of the mis-management that I have to deal with working for other contractors. I am supposed to be signed up for a code course that is required sometime next month, but seeing as how the union I belong to hasn't exactly supported me over the last two years since becoming more open about being gay and a furry, I don't hold very high hopes of getting in. I did purchase the required texts so if they will not support me, I will sign-up for the course elsewhere. Once I have passed the course all thats left is to pass a test to allow me to legally take out permits and inspect home-owner work, then need to get registered with city and get bonded. For the time being, will keep working for others to pay the bills until I become self-supporting with my own work.

General | Posted 12 years agoI am soo happy with the westin so far. Apperently my reservation for AC has recieved a complimentary upgrade from a corner suite to a 1 bedroom parlour. Am sooo looking forward to it
time to start off-roading
General | Posted 12 years agoWell, after debating for almost a year, I decided to get a toy to go off-roading again. Made a down payment today on a military jeep called an iltis. Hoping to be able to bring it home next week before leaving for AC. I'd have it already if it wasn't for this crappy little town not having more than one bank. Dunno if will be able to use it much this year, but hopefully soon.
free feral arts (closed)
General | Posted 12 years agoI purchased a ych auction for four feral slots. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10488904/. My mate will have position 10, I will be position 11. Positions 13 and 14 are paid for, but I do not currently have characters for them. I need feral characters for the artist to refrence, so if any of you feral furs out there would like your character in iether of spots 13 or 14, comment me a refrence to your character below and the spot you would like. I'll decide who gets the spots later today. Once again please note that this is for ferals only.
work
General | Posted 13 years agoUgh, it sucks working 11 hour shifts with a 1.5 hr busride each way on top of the workshift. Soo tired can't really do much else. If only I could sleep on busses. Actually doing work this time too... went from being in cozy warm office doing computer and business equipment stuffs to being out in cold pulling cable so all hurty all over. Gotta do what gotta do though to make sure bills get paid and such.
I have found someone to make a suit for me, so will be premiering my suit at AC this year ^.~.^

yay...
General | Posted 13 years agoGot my room reserved for AC 2013 ^.~.^ still need to find a bodysuit....
Sorry....
General | Posted 13 years agoI must apologize for my lack of responses and such. It seems as though I rarely have enough time to sleep, let alone actually do something productive that is not work-related. The shop steward position that I had posted about in my last journal turned out to be a mistake. The company outright refused to follow any of their contractual obligations and such, so after about a month I quit working there. Shortly after I got a new job working out of dawson creek, where not long into the job I suffered an injury to my back while pulling cable in a not-so good position. The company moved me into the office to do some light duties, where they found out about some of my skills in computer use, networking, and photo-copy repair, and have since then kept me in the office. Being the only person on site that is capable of not only recovering lost passwords, repairing network issues, in addition to the normal file system maintenance and data logging based on knowledge of the work that is required in the field has kept me busy to the point of often having to take work home with me at the end of the day. with abit of luck they will decide to permanently keep me in the office for other projects, as it seems I'm starting to get too old to be working outside in -30C to +30C weather :-P
I do have a couple new commissions that are hopefully being worked on atm, that I should be able to post sometime soon in the new year, and have decided that both me and my mate will be attending AC 2013. We have already pre-registered, and am looking forward to attending. Having said that, however, I do still require both a set of white foot-paws, and a bodysuit to be completed before then. I am currently attempting to find someone to commission for them, but as of yet not had much luck finding someone who is open and has the time. I may try to find the time to make the foot-paws myself, but do not currently hold high hopes of managing to fit it into my schedule
Anyways,
Merry Yiffmass to all.

Work Camp... Bah
General | Posted 13 years agoWell, They finally got a cell tower built at work, so have some sort of communication with the outside world again. Having hard time getting back into working long hours again with both the areas that I had to have surgery done over past 2 years complaining. On semi-bright note, my union elected me as being a shop steward for this site, so get a small raise, and have to do a lil less physical labor, but wayy more paperwork :P Never gotten involved in politics of unions and employers like this before, should be an interesting experience as long as don't loose it from the stress :P
yay
General | Posted 13 years agoWell, looks like I,m off to work again in the middle of no-where in a crappy camp with no or limited net and cell service for 3 weeks at a time, and gotta work on house/yard renos during time off The trip to ontario went well, enjoyed my time there. Met a few cool furs that I hope to see again sometime. Had a chance to do a quick trial on my fursuit, enjoyed romping around in it for abit, but didn't get a chance to take that many pics, hard to press little buttons with fluffy paws....

General | Posted 13 years agoFinally got confirmation on plane tickets to toronto gonna be going with my mate

General | Posted 14 years agoWell, for once I've actually got something to post here. Due to events over past year, lost my drive to continue with construction of my suit, however, I managed to get a spot for a head commission from
sharpe19 so may find the drive to make some footpaws in the not-so-distant future.
Also, after 2 years of looking, I'm gonna finally have a regular vet to see that is in town, yay. *hides from needle-bearing hooman, growling slightly*
Work prospects for this year are looking promising, and as much as I don't want to, I may need to return to work soon. I just hope they don't try to send me to Whitehorse again, too cold there.
My icon was a commission from
wolf-nymph last fall, and i'd highly recommend her for art commissions.
If anyone is looking for custom leather products,
lagarto did an awesome job on my collar from
rukis comic "red lantern".
