The 2025 Capricorn Cat Rainbow
Posted 10 months agoHello, everybody!
So, 8 January has passed on my end, but I'm sure many of you across the globe are still on the day. With that being said, I want to start by thanking
lokifan50, :iconbluemario1016, and four more friends (Cianna200, AdamTheCatBoy06, Supersprite65, and PixelByteSquad, all not on FA) for their taking part in this project I've been doing since 2019. The Capricorn Cat Rainbow had its humble beginnings back then which started out as just The Capricorn Cats where I celebrated the birthdays of
leothetiger, Lonnie Leo from AxlReigns' (not on FA) Nightriders series, and Blaze the Cat from the Sonic series. What those three have in common is that they share 8 January as their birthday. As time went on, however,
bluemario1016 introduced me a new idea, especially after he showed me that Scat Cat from The Aristocats also has his birthday on that day, in accordance to the Disneystrology book, in which I should find a few more feline characters and make their birthdays on the day as well so that altogether they can make a rainbow of sorts. This has got me thinking and after doing a bit of soul searching, I found the best characters to fit in, them being Sierra from Father of the Pride, a rather obscure and short-lasting TV show by DreamWorks, Katt Monroe from the Star Fox franchise, and also Sylvester from Looney Tunes, though I've considered adding him to the repertoire long before Blue told me of the idea, since both the birthdays of Blaze and Sylvester were based after two people I knew back in college, one being someone who played piano like me, and the other who was her piano teacher and had also mentored me back then. Both of them happen to share the same birthday. With that, on 8 January of 2022, the Capricorn Cat Rainbow was born, and Capricorn Cats evolved into becoming a monthly celebration to rejoice and commemorate the felines whose birthdays are on the days of Capricorn, and they come in all sorts, from cats, to lions, to tigers, to panthers.
Now you're probably all wondering why I picked 8 January as the day for the Capricorn Cat. Well, I'll happy to tell you its secret. Besides it being a day in which some famous names were born, including rock 'n' roll singer Elvis Presley, physician Stephen Hawking, and former TV show host of The Newlywed Game Bob Eubanks, the day also be a symbolic reference to a famous myth about the longetivity of cats, which if you add the date with the number for the month of January, you'll see the result and get what I'm referencing. With that all laid out, let's all hear it for the big seven of 8 January! The following art pieces were collaborative efforts in which I've done the lineart sketches, while my artists who I've mentioned above did the digitisation and colouring of them.

This has been quite a fruitful and big day. One thing I can hope for is that more people would take notice of this so that we can make this into a internet-wide phenomenon and fan holiday in the same vein as Bowser Day! So what are we waiting for? Let's do it spread the word! We may have covered the Capricorn Cat Rainbow, but we're not done yet...
Hope you all are having a good day! Thanks for your support, and a big thanks go to my friends who helped made this occasion possible!

Goodbye 2024, Hello 2025
Posted 10 months agoSo 2024 is finally gone and now we step into the first day of 2025. Happy New Year to all of you, thank you for your support, and while challenges are to be expected on the way, let's make the best of what we have and hope for better things to come in the future. I know we can do it.
10 Years of being on FA?! I can't believe it!
Posted 10 months agoMan, it seems like yesterday since I first created an account here back in near the tail end of 2014 and it's almost the end of 2024 now! 10 years of being on FA! Man, I feel so old!
Merry Christmas! + The Capricorn Cat Rainbow
Posted 10 months agoWhat's up, everyone? Hope you all had a Merry Christmas! Let us look forward for better things to come in the future, even though I know these next few years are going to be a wild ride.
Now that I've given my best wishes, since the Capricorn Cat Month has been underway, I thought of sharing you all some stuff about the Capricorn Cat Rainbow, especially for those who are uninitiated. The Capricorn Cat Rainbow is something that occurs every 8 January, in which we celebrate a selected group of feline characters who all share the same birthday on that day, seven in total. Each cat is meant to represent a colour that make up the rainbow, usually through their fur colour, but other times it could be clothing or that while they deviate from the colours, they'd be a certain colour that is close to them. These are the following:
- Red - Katt Monroe (Star Fox series): a cat, her fur is pink, a colour closely related to red.
- Orange - Lonnie Leo (AxlReigns's Nightriders series): a lion, his fur is an orange tinge.
- Yellow - Sierra (Father of the Pride): a white lioness, which can be seen as a light yellow.
- Green - Leo Sanchez (character by
leothetiger): a tiger, he typically wears green marching band uniform.
- Blue - Scat Cat (The Aristocats): a cat, he is grey, but that could count as blue since that is the same colour for certain cat breeds like the Russian Blue and the British Shorthair, specifically the British Blue.
- Indigo - Sylvester the Cat (Looney Tunes): a tuxedo cat, him being black can count as the indigo colour.
- Violet - Blaze the Cat (Sonic the Hedgehog): a tuxedo cat, she is purple, which violet is a shade of said colour.
The gist of the Capricorn Cat Rainbow is that you can either draw the seven cat characters as a group, or draw them separately. If you plan to draw the characters individually, you can draw just your favourites if you can't be able to draw them all. 8 January is going to be one eventful day, that's for sure, so let's get everything ready!
Anyways, may you all have had a Merry Christmas, and may you all have a Happy New Year! See you in 2025!

When Sonic Comes to a Stop...
Posted a year agoHonestly, I never thought I would do a rant on one of my most treasured franchises, well, it's not the franchise overall, it's about a fandom of a certain character and pairing that has gotten WAY out of control for the last 18 years or so. I actually never knew about this until I first got into social media. Now I'm not going to mention any names as I don't want anybody to track down and go after people on my behalf, however, I just want to address two individuals who have driven me into completely disregarding this particular character and the games that followed since his debut. No names will be given either as I don't want this journal to be censored or flagged down for violations towards terms of service. I can however mention the character since he is fictional. Buckle up, people, this is going to be an insane ride...
Now, I, like many others, don't care what characters those in the Sonic community are fans of as it's how you are as a person that makes all the difference. What I'm about to say here is absolutely alarming and devastating. Keep in mind that it has absolutely nothing to do with my personal viewpoints on the Sonic characters.
Okay, so I don't like the character Silver the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006. To clarify things, I'm not going to go on a tirade about how they ruined or "raped" my childhood, because face it, there are kids out there who suffered worse. However, I just want to point out that I've grown up with the Sonic series and as I grew older I was able to tell the difference between which games are good and which games are bad, and also which characters are excellent and which characters are just meh. Of course, younger fans are more interested in the characters, all their powers, the toys, and all that jazz. But let me be very honest, I don't like Silver the Hedgehog and the Sonic games that followed after his debut (outside of Sonic Rush Adventure, being the sequel of what I consider to be the last good Sonic game). Why? Because he really isn't that great of a character, and many of the modern Sonic games just feel so boring with flat or flanderised characters, uncompelling stories, and confusing or buggy/glitchy gameplay. Now in full honesty, Silver does have a pretty cool design which is meant to show how he's a hedgehog from the distant future, and his psychic powers sound pretty neat, but that's as far as I can go with my praises towards him as he is in the grand scheme of things one of the most forgettable and worst Sonic characters to be created, and I can name ten reasons why, so let's go through them, shall we?
Reason #1 - He's a poor man's version of Future Trunks. There's no beating around the bush, Silver is basically Future Trunks but without the charm and awesomeness. I have the feeling Sega created him because of how fans make parallels between Sonic and the Dragon Ball franchise, even likening Sonic and Shadow to Goku and Vegeta respectively. I also have a sneaky suspicion that when doing the English dub, 4Kids got Pete Capella and made him do an impression of Eric Vale's Trunks voice. I don't know what kind of natural voice does Pete Capella have, but it's clear that he wasn't given the right material with Silver. Quinton Flynn and Bryce Papenbrook probably had voice ranges fairly close to Eric Vale since their takes on Silver were better. That's besides the point, though, as the point is that Silver is just a poor man's Future Trunks.
Reason #2 - For a hero, he is pretty pathetic. Despite having done a few good deeds, Silver has his share of screw-ups which forced other characters to correct him or carry out the tasks he was supposed to do. Case in point, Sonic 06. Silver was convinced Sonic was the Iblis Trigger, and had it not been for Shadow stepping in when he attempted to kill Sonic the second time, resulting in their Chaos Control travel to the past where Silver discovers the truth of the origins of the Flames of Disaster, he would have ultimately doomed the world with Sonic dead and Princess Elise grieving over him, releasing Iblis as a result. Or how about the end to his story, where Blaze instructs him to use the Chaos Emeralds to seal her with Iblis, but he refuses to do so, not wanting to lose Blaze, so she ends up finishing the job on her own, so she is really the true hero in saving the future, not Silver. If it were up to him, he'd stop Blaze from sacrificing herself, and the world will be destroyed anyways. Much like how in The Legend of Spyro, Spyro did not want to kill Cynder, even though it would have saved the world, because "she would leave him nothing to fight for," meaning he'd let the world be destroyed just for Cynder's sake. Simply put, Silver is the weakest link as far as heroes go, yet there are people who elevate him into the level of Sonic and Shadow.
Reason #3 - He is a bad role model. While I believe characters should have personality flaws, Silver's are way too glaring that doesn't make him a worthwhile or relatable character. His lack of critical thinking, naivete, and simple-minded nature causes him to be uptight, rude, abrasive, quick to jump to conclusions, reckless and brash. It's like Sega took the worst traits of Knuckles and Shadow, combined it with the whiny and angsty essence of Anakin in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and placed it into Future Trunks before turning him into a hedgehog. At best he's a foolhardy anti-hero, and at worst he's an insufferable, arrogant, immature brat, oh, and he gives off snobby rich guy vibes. Seriously, how can anyone think that is "heroic, "badass," "rebellious," "edgy" and such?
Reason #4 - He causes more trouble for the main characters than help them. Yeah, it's only in his early appearances, but that doesn't diminish the fact that he attempted to kill Sonic twice in Sonic 06, was rudely dismissive to him and several others in both Sonic Rivals games, and of course, he stole Rings from Tails in Sonic Rivals 2, even going as far as calling him a "half-pint," which at the time when I once tried to look more at Silver's good traits, I had no idea what it truly meant until I found out that it means a "small, insignificant person," which is such a very mean thing to say to someone, even if it's an eight-year-old kid. Man, I can't believe I once defended that bit back when I collaborated with that one Silver fan (I'll be getting to that person soon). Doesn't help the fact that he never apologises to any of them, and they just forgave him like that when he comes around.
Reason #5 - The forced "dynamic" between him and Blaze the Cat. I know there are many who will come after me for that and say things like "You just want Blaze to be with Tails!" Now, I'm not stating this as a Tailaze fan, but how can anyone think Blaze, a girl of royal class, would want to hang out with someone like Silver, or look at him like he's some kind of great Greek god, with enough of the strikes already pointed out? Of course, Blaze and Silver only have a big sister-little brother type of relationship, but the way some people make them out, they're making Blaze out to not only be an enabler (in fact they look at them like they're like Bonnie and Clyde), but also ruins her better judgement, which is so out of character for her and something I don't take lightly, considering how there's a worrying rise of the normalisation of toxic relationships, especially when it's strong, smart woman with a boorish, obnoxious, boneheaded guy.
Reason #6 - His redeemable traits came too little, too late. As much as I appreciate that they mellowed Silver out a bit in his later appearances, they didn't come as soon as they should have and did little to nothing to make his character more likeable or relatable.
Reason #7 - He is a very irrelevant character. There had been moments when he does contribute something to the games, Sonic 06, for example, but those moments are so rare and most of the time he says and/or points out things that have already been stated by the other characters before him, so I don't get why Sega insists of shoving him in some of the games after 06 when he hardly contributes to anything that delivers a major impact to the plot progression.
Reason #8 - He relies on other characters to stay relevant. This is also related to Reason #5. Alone, he's very much forgettable, but when he's around Blaze, he becomes just as popular, if not more than her. Suffice it to say, Blaze is reduced to a satellite character while Silver hogs in the fame the glory from her whenever they're present. Furthermore, there's the retconning of Eggman Nega, who started off as an Eggman-like villain from Blaze's home dimension in Sonic Rush, before Sega changed it to him being Eggman's descendant from Silver's timeline, for no other reason than to keep Silver relevant to series and to somehow establish a connection between him and Blaze, adding on to keeping his relevancy, on top of that, low-key shipbaiting and pandering to a vocal minority of shippers who think they're a "perfect match."
Reason #9 - He is popular for all the wrong reasons. Again related to Reasons #5 and #8.
Reason #10 - His fanbase is atrocious. Now I don't believe all Silver fans are bad as I've met a couple who at least have common sense when it comes to him and the shipping of Silver X Blaze. Unfortunately, the majority I have come across are awful, and it's not just the shippers, some are also huge fans of Silver alone. Many of them are gatekeepers, cyberbullies, and trolls, who quickly come to the aid of their favourite character if anyone were to make criticisms against him, even the ones that are valid, while at the same resort to insults, ad hominem attacks, death threats, and much more. Many of these fanbrats even demonstrate unhealthy cultish behaviour towards Silver and/or Silver X Blaze that covering them would require doing a separate rant.
Well, that's all I have to say about Silver the Hedgehog. Bottom line, he's a poorly written and poorly executed character who got popular for asinine reasons, and is anything but a great character. And now, I want to discuss issues I have with the Silver fandom. While I've come across fanbrats who gave me a difficult time just because I don't like him, there are two people who I want to talk about, though I won't address them by name.
First off, I'll talk about the one Silver fangirl I used to be friends with. The drama may be old news, but it's one that has affected my view on Silver as a character as I tried not to mind him too much for her sake back then. For those uninitiated, the drama began when back in like 2018, she made a video covering two Silver fans who had criticisms towards the character, and she didn't take them very well cause in her mind, being a fan meant to like every aspect of the character, flaws and all, and she came down very hard on one Silver fangirl who covered mainly his bad traits and tendencies, which resulted in her having a meltdown and cussing her out. Her video got covered by YouTube commentators and she started losing friends because of her vitriolic behaviour in the video, and she roped me and two of my other friends into the drama all because she lost support of her now ex-best friend. When I and my other friend started doubting if the drama was worth defending talked about her attitude towards Blaze the Cat, a fictional character, the other friend who still was defending that Silver fangirl told her, and she yelled at me and cussed me out in a voice call. Needless to say, I was shaken and didn't want to deal with her ever again. I forgot to mention how she would say "can't you take a joke?" when she makes anti-Blaze remarks like wanting her to die and such, and while she's not a Silver X Blaze supporter, she would at times show me Silver X Blaze art just to get a reaction from me, and of course, I don't enjoy those, and would say how she's trying to "toughen me up" and "desensitise" me from Silver X Blaze, which is honestly cruel, callous, and disrespectful of my feelings. I also learned from my two friends that behind my back she would back talk me, calling me nasty names, saying how I'm obsessed with Blaze and stuff like that, on top of even stalking my DA and FA accounts...
That's very much all I would say regarding that Silver fangirl, but now I'm going to talk about a different Silver fan as I recently had a falling out with him over on Discord. At first he seemed like someone who was understandable, but things started going downhill as he was saying a bunch of weird stuff, like being upset at how people are criticising the Sonic fandom and the franchise, how he doesn't want the Sonic community to fall apart, how he insists the CEO of Sonic Team is trying to get the series back on the right track, and so on, and he does have issues with people who are sceptical about Sonic. I had a few discussions with him when it came the Sonic series and Silver, but things came to a head when he decided to share an image that he found "cute" of a comic cover showing Sonic pairs, and Silver and Blaze being one of them, when he knows that I dislike the pairing. I asked him to take it down as it was bothering me, but he of course took no notice, and feeling ignored, I began questioning whether the Sonic fandom really is the place for me or not. I mean, I still like Tails, Blaze, Sonic, Knuckles, Rouge, Cream, Big, Vector and Espio, but I felt that the Sonic series truly ended with Sonic Rush (Rush Adventure included) while the rest of the series just isn't Sonic anymore. He then comes to confront me, asking me if I hate Sonic now, claiming that I snapped at him (even though I didn't), starts saying that I'm going down a dark path, and he had the audacity to play the victim, when ironically he accused me of having that mentality, claiming how people judge him for his opinions (oh I don't know why, maybe because he still supports a certain guy who is now a convicted felon, I bet?), he claims to be empathic, yet he has not shown empathy to me and expects me to feel empathy for him, and he used his autism to gain more sympathy points. He dared to call me a complete child, and even told me to "crawl back to my kiddie corner and cry my heart away," and like the Silver fangirl, he was yelling and cussing me out. That guy is such a cyberbully, that's what I can take away from it, and he is yet another reason for me to disregard Silver the Hedgehog even more. Oh, and the fact that he dares to talk about his falling out with me over on another public server shows how much of an immature spoiled brat he is.
Simply put, I feel this is where Sonic comes to a stop. The fandom has gone downhill because it's full of cyberbullies, gatekeepers, trolls, and fanbrats, and those two Silver fans I talked about are prime examples. They can enjoy their precious hedgehog all they want, but it doesn't take away the fact that he is not a good character, is a waste of space, and should never have been created in the first place. Sonic 06 is also a game that never should have been created as Sega had inadvertently opened a Pandora's Box by releasing it to the public, and as a result, the series just isn't the same and has caused a massive divide between the one side of the fanbase who are against 06 and all other games after being good and the other side are those who are for those games being good.
I do my best to respect everyone, I don't hate Sonic 06 or Silver the Hedgehog, but it and all other games after feel so different to the previous games that I find it hard to imagine that they're in the same universe, and Silver is such an underwhelming character that I don't get the hype, let alone the idea that he's as good and powerful of a hero as Sonic and Shadow. Having to deal with the supporters telling me how "I'm not a true Sonic fan!" just sours the experience for me even further. You don't have to love absolutely everything about the Sonic games or love Silver the Hedgehog to be a "true Sonic fan," I really feel that was something made up by the fanbrats to prevent any Sonic discourse and to bully others into taking back their criticisms. Everyone should keep in mind that before Sonic 06 and Silver came along, liking all the other games and characters, which is leading up until Blaze, who debuted in Sonic Rush, a year before 06, was being a Sonic fan, and now with that game and Silver introduced, now it's like I'm barred from being a fan as a whole just because I don't like them, which is gatekeeping behaviour. Seriously, enough with this whole "true fan" nonsense, and please let fans enjoy the Sonic series, even without Silver. We may not like every aspect of the Sonic series or certain characters, but we love to talk about them, and that's what being a fan is all about.
That's it for this rant. Hope you all have a wonderful day, or night, whenever the timezone is on your end, and I'll see you guys next time.
Now, I, like many others, don't care what characters those in the Sonic community are fans of as it's how you are as a person that makes all the difference.

Countdown to Bowser Day
Posted 9 years agoWith Bowser Day only a week away, it's time for many of us who are fans of the Koopa King to make anything awesome in honour of this special occasion. The king of awesome has shown countless of times that even though he may have done some bad stuff in his many attempts to score with Princess Peach, he is not without his inner kindness and has shown on several occasions to have potential in being an anti-hero, if not a complete good guy. Best of luck to anyone who is going to contribute to Bowser Day! Here's to the most famous one to be under the Leo Dragon horoscope, the perfect combination for a king! (8-4-64)
I fear for the safety of my fellow LGBTs...
Posted 9 years agoRecently, I learned from some friends that the terrible pastor Steven Anderson has been declaring that the LGBTs are waging war on him due to the fact that his Paypal account was shut down, not to mention that his followers ended up getting their accounts shut down too. He had what's coming to him after what he said about the victims at Orlando, but refuses to face what he's been doing and blames the LGBTs and their sympathisers who have been "brainwashed." He believes them to be weak that needed to exterminated because "DA BIBLE SAYS SO!" and he had the audacity to say that the LGBT community are nothing more but "dogs." So, not only is he condoning violence against other human beings, but if we're going by his "logic," that means that he must also condone animal abuse. I worry for any of my LGBT friends over in the United States, cause this guy is a borderline criminal, and he is dangerous. Pretty soon he will snap and push his blind sheep to hunt down and kill any homosexual they could find, unless he decides to do the deed himself. Not only will he go after homosexuals, but also Jews, people with disabilities, and other ethnicities, considering that he made it explicitly clear that he has sheer hatred towards them and wishes death upon them. That makes him the vile combination of an extreme fundamentalist, terrorist, and Nazi. Doesn't help the fact that he denies the Holocaust and believes that the Nazis have been doing the world a favour by persecuting the Jews. He might as well adorn his church with swastikas to complete the image. People like Steven Anderson are evidence of what happens when bad people and religion mix together, they make a malicious and deadly combination, and his constant raging and jumping up and down like a madman while banging the podium angrily with his fist shows him for what he is: an aggressive, intolerant, prejudiced, psychopathic, arrogant, narcissistic, insensitive, hatemongering, racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, anti-Semitic, self-righteous nutcase who calls genocide on the minorities that he himself deem as undesirable, which no matter what, is very un-Christian. He should go back to the Dark Ages whence he came from and leave minorities and progress alone. That's it for yet another rant on that crazy mother****er, and to all my LGBT buddies, stay safe and strong, as scum like Steven Anderson shall never gain political power. Over and out.
Sonic's 25th Anniversary + Sonic Timeline
Posted 9 years agoSo, it's 25 years of Sonic. :D Happy Anniversary, dude! Wishing you lots of speed, fun, adventure, and chili dogs. To commemorate, I thought I'd share with you guys my thoughts on the Sonic timeline like I did with Mario's. Considering the fact that Sonic was 15 during the Adventure era, it's safe to say that the Classic version is his younger self, and I would say the most plausible age he would be back then would be 10, meaning that if truly aged, now he would be 35, hence his birthday being June 23, 1981. Therefore, here's what I believe is the timeline. Of course, this is all opinion based.
1991 - Sonic the Hedgehog, SegaSonic the Hedgehog, Tails's Skypatrol
1992 - Sonic CD, Sonic 2 (8-bit version)
1993 - Tails's Adventure
1994 - Sonic 2 (16-bit version)
1995 - Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Chaos, Triple Trouble, Knuckles's Chaotix, Sonic the Fighters, Labyrinth, Blast, 3D Blast
1996 - Sonic 4, Advance 1 & 2, Adventure, Pocket Adventure, Adventure 2, Heroes, Battle, Advance 3, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 06, Rush duology
1997 - Sonic Rivals 1 & 2, Riders trilogy, Secret Rings, Black Knight, Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, Unleashed, Colors, Generations, Lost World
So, I hope this is rather interesting for many of you, and cheers to the famous blue hedgehog! 25 years of being the foremost furry mascot in gaming and Mario's biggest and fiercest competitor!

Rant on Pastor Steven Anderson
Posted 9 years agoHey guys, I'm back again to talk about a certain person. A rather infamous pastor who is clearly giving Christians a bad. You thought the Westboro Baptist Church were the only nutjobs to misrepresent their faith? Well, enter Steven Anderson, a pastor of Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona. This guy, all I can say, is Hitler incarnate. He wants nothing more than to eliminate the LGBT community because according to him, they're "pedophiles, perverts, deviants, and sodomites," among other pejorative terms. Last year, he praised the attack on Paris just because it was a death metal concert going and he assumes the lead singer was a homosexual, and now he celebrates the death of those people in the recent Orlando terrorist attack, saying that they deserved to die because of their sexuality which is condemned in the Bible. All I can say about Steven Anderson is that he is a fucking lunatic, a sadistic, psychotic, asshole that needs to be arrested and thrown in jail for spouting and encouraging hate crimes towards minorities. He is disrespectful towards humanity as a whole, with his hatred towards gays, lesbians, transsexuals, and even bisexuals like myself. He claims that he is against Islam extremists shooting people, but is perfectly fine with it if homosexuals are being targeted. That means that he condones violence, much as he denies it. It's no wonder why so many people are renouncing their faith, because of deranged lunatics like Steven Anderson who spill such vile, disgusting, hate-filled dogma and use their faith to further their agenda. Whether Jesus existed or not, he will not approve such a medieval attitude towards those who are different. Steven Anderson is just the same as Chris Chan, YoshiWii1, PrincessElizabeth013, and of course, that Westboro Baptist bitch Shirley Phelps. A mere Neo-Nazi wannabe, he might as well make a concentration camp complete with gas chambers to complete the image. Let's see that assclown Steven Anderson make a rebuttal against this speech. He won't, because he's fucking shithead, a fucking dumbass, a fucking coward, and a fucking poor excuse of a human being who deserves to be locked in a shower with a bunch of naked men. That will be justice best served on that dickhead. He should take his ill-gotten Bible and shove it up his ass because he shows in all his sermons and preachings how much of an intolerant, bigoted, homophobic, criminal-minded piece of shit he really is. Well, that's all for this rant. Good fucking night.
Father of the Pride and a parody idea
Posted 9 years agoPerhaps one of the most criminally underrated CGI TV shows, Father of the Pride is a series created by DreamWorks and directed by Jeffrey Katzenberg, one of the founders of DreamWorks and former chairman of Disney, where he help produced films like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and even The Lion King.
The show is a reference to the comedy film Father of the Bride, but is a sitcom in the style of shows like The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Family Guy. It revolves around a family of anthropomorphic white lions, hence "Pride" in the title of the show, and their many misadventures in Las Vegas. The main character is a middle-aged lion named Larry, voiced by legendary actor John Goodman and is the father who stars in a show managed by two animal trainers named Siegfried and Roy, voiced by Julian Holloway and David Herman respectively.
Larry lives with his wife Kate, voiced by Cheryl Hines, and her father Sarmoti, voiced by Carl Reiner and former star of Siegfried and Roy's show. Sarmoti's name is also an acronym of "Siegfried and Roy, Masters of the Impossible." They are also the proud parents of their children Sierra and Hunter.
Sierra, voiced by scream queen Danielle Harris, is a rebellious and somewhat tomboyish teenager who is an activist with left-wing views. To me, she's somewhat like a mixture of Lisa Simpson and Rainbow Dash, except that unlike Rainbow, she's not really the athletic type, but is a headstrong rebel and has that spark that makes her a tomboy when compared to her mother, and of course, she's more popular with her peers unlike Lisa, but is an environmentalist and campaigns for animal rights as seen in one of the episodes. She even hates being reminded of how she used to practice killing her prey when she was a young cub. Despite coming as antagonistic towards her family, she genuinely loves and cares for them.
Finally, there's Hunter, voiced by Daryl Sabara, a meek, shy, timid, and somewhat naïve lion cub who is almost never shown without his E-collar, due to a rash he suffers from. Although he is never much of a prominent character like the other family members, he does have his moments in a couple of episodes.
Many of the white lion family's neighbours include Larry's best friend, a gopher named Snack, voiced by Orlando Jones, a panda named Foo-Lin, voiced by Lisa Kudrow, an Indian elephant named Chutney, voiced by Brian George, and even a pair of tigers named Blake and Victoria, voiced by John O'Hurley and Wendie Malick respectively and the rivals of the lions.
Some characters even make cameo appearances. The most notable one is Donkey from Shrek, who is yet again played by Eddie Murphy, just like old times.
Each episode, while not connected to each other, had good moral values and life lessons in regards to matters like trust, racism, sexism, etc. while at the same time remaining satirical. The characters also have their own quirks, like Larry's the bumbling dad who tends to speak before he thinks, Kate's the feminine mom who is the voice of reason and tries to maintain relationships with everyone else, Sierra being the rebellious tomboy with a bit of a girly streak and likes to socialise and do what she feels is right, and Hunter's the geeky little nerd who gets picked on and suspected for being gay by others, particularly Sarmoti, who is the grumpy, dirty old lion who likes to get drunk, gamble with his buddies, and put Larry down for trivial reasons.
Sadly, Father of the Pride lasted very shortly, with only a total of 13 episodes, including two unaired episodes and a remake of the pilot episode. The reason for that is because a bunch of parents complained to DreamWorks about how the show fooled them into thinking that it was going to be a family-friendly series when it really was geared towards teenagers and adults. It's quite ironic, really, because back in the days, cartoons like Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, and even many of Walt Disney's early animated movies and shorts weren't exactly intended for kids, yet were still watchable for them. Of course, they are different from sitcoms like The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, Beavis and Butthead, and King of the Hill as those shows make more use of adult humour in the vein of Ren and Stimpy and Ralph Bakshi's Fritz the Cat, so Father of the Pride follows that trend as well, proving that animation isn't exclusively for kids.
It would be great if Father of the Pride would make a great comeback despite the negative reception incited by those overprotective parents and soccer moms, because I took a look at some episodes recently on YouTube and I can say that the show does have a lot going for it and it is very entertaining. It even has a cult following in the furry fandom, considering that many of the characters are anthropomorphic animals aside from humans mixed in. I think that's also one of the reasons parents complaining, because they automatically believed that anthropomorphic animals equate a kid's show, when films like Fritz the Cat show otherwise. If you're a fan of family sitcoms, shows featuring cartoon animals, or DreamWorks animated films in general, Father of the Pride should be right up your alley. It gets an 8.5/10 from me.
Speaking of the show, I had a dream of a parody called Father of the Stud, which is Father of the Pride, but with horse characters recasted among a few others. This idea was inspired by some parodies and spoofs on YouTube made by several users, including
gepredators. Here's the recasted main characters.
Character: Larry
Replacement: Quick Draw McGraw (The Quick Draw McGraw Show)
Reason: Well, as you can clearly guessed by the title, "stud" refers to a group of horses, much like how "pride" refers to a group of lions, which is the species the main family of the show is. Quick Draw McGraw could also easily be the bumbling dad if they had a show on him having a family.
Character: Kate
Replacement: Princess Celestia (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic)
Reason: She is the voice of reason of the three (four counting Twilight Sparkle) princesses, and the one who watches over and keeps order in Equestria, much like how a typical mother character does in a family sitcom. So, I think it's fitting. Besides, I have casted one of Larry and Kate's kids as a winged horse (can you guess who?), so obviously one parent has to have wings.
Character: Sierra
Replacement: Rainbow Dash (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic)
Reason: Both are rebellious teenagers, sassy, pretty popular, and tend to be mean towards their loved ones. Even so, they are genuinely caring and loyal towards them. Sierra also has some rather tomboyish traits.
Character: Hunter
Replacement: Bambi (Bambi)
Reason: Yeah, Bambi is not a horse, but even studs apply to the deer family. Anyway, Hunter is a shy, timid, and at times naïve lion cub, which are the similar personalities Bambi had as a young deer. Perhaps in this spoof, one of his paternal grandparents was probably a deer, lol
Character: Sarmoti
Replacement: Mr. Horse (The Ren & Stimpy Show)
Reason: Think about it, both are quite grumpy, pompous, and cynical. So Mr. Horse as Sarmoti fits pretty well.
Character: Snack
Replacement: Baba Looey (The Quick Draw McGraw Show)
Reason: With Quick Draw as Larry, it would make sense Baba Looey would be Snack as both characters from their respected shows are best buds.
Character: Siegfried and Roy
Replacement: Mario and Luigi (Super Mario Bros)
Reason: This one was rather tough to decide upon. I've originally considered the Chameleon Brothers from Rocko's Modern Life, but they're so identical to each other and since most of the characters are anthropomorphic animals while Siegfried and Roy are the only main human characters, it kinda fits to have the Mario Bros as them. Besides, they have European accents, with German for Siegfried and Roy, and Italian for Mario and Luigi.
That's all for now. Hope this is a neat idea. Would be cool if someone were to make a parody of that one day, especially when Father of the Pride was quite an entertaining show and won the 2004 Ursa Major Award for Best Anthropomorphic Dramatic Series.

Here's the recasted main characters.Character: Larry

I dedicate this journal to
bluemario1016 and
gepredators. Hope you love this insight and parody idea of the show, guys. Zootopia
Posted 9 years agoWell I've gotta say, Disney has been recently targeting individual demographics with their movies. I mean, Wreck-It Ralph targeted old-school gamers, Big Hero 6 targeted anime/manga fans, and now, their recent film Zootopia targets furries. I absolutely LOVE this movie! It's everything a furry could ask for. Too bad there isn't any scaly characters, but what the heck, even scalies would enjoy this movie for being the a good movie based on talking anthropomorphic animals. Who knows, maybe we might see some scaly characters in the sequel. To any who is a furry or simply love furry characters and hasn't seen it, I strongly urge you to give it a watch. You will not be disappointed. Sorry, no spoilers!
Take care everyone. I shall be looking forward to seeing it again. I plan to watch Zootopia as many times as I can as I am totally engrossed and feeling the glory of the furry fandom. Lions, tigers, bears, foxes, and so on, it's is an absolute experience no one should pass by, especially furries. Power to the furry! Feel the glory!
Stay furry!

5 Years of Joining the Furry Community
Posted 9 years agoSeems like yesterday when I was 23 years old and joined the furry community through Facebook. I've never felt such joy and happiness when I found and became friends with many people online who shared the same interests that I have. All my life I have a fondness for anthropomorphic animals with humanlike characteristics, and although I heard about the furry fandom back in 2008/2009, it took me 3 years to become part of it once I entered social networking starting with Facebook and created my Charizard fursona. Gonna be making something special to commemorate this milestone.
So, lots of cheers for me, and I hope to continue on being in this wonderful fandom where I've met lots of fantastic friends who encouraged me and supported me to pursue my interests, hopes, and dreams. Speaking of which, I'm really excited for Disney's Zootopia. Only 3 more days until it hits Australian theatres, and the wait seems to go on forever. Only then will I feel that I have experienced the full glory of the furry fandom, as for me, it is more than just a fandom. It is a whole new world of wonder full of mystery and magic. It's so unforgettable, I could never imagine life without it as it helped me discover more about myself.
Many thanks to everyone who has subscribed and supported me here. I feel very happy to share the news with you.
Cheers

The Legend of Spyro's 10 Anniversary
Posted 10 years agoWell, it's been 10 years since The Legend of Spyro came along, and of course it was made in none other but my home country of Australia. I may not be a fan of the series, but I acknowledge that it yielded some good things, at least before Sierra gave Dawn of the Dragon to Estranges Libellules and instilled the worst case of fanboyism and fangirlism next to Twilight (you probably would know what I'm talking about, though I would make a rant on it some other time). To commemorate TLoS's 10th anniversary, I thought I'd share with you guys an idea that I am pleased to take part of.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/18888670/
My buddy
bluemario1016 wanted to pitch a re-telling of The Legend of Spyro, in which the trilogy would become a Japanese anime television series instead of being remade into video games. He wants to get rid of all the Twilightesque content (like the pairing of SpyroxCynder) to make it less generic and clichéd, and especially give the DotD section of series more focus on Spyro and Sparx rather than Cynder. I must say that at first I didn't like the idea because of the bad experience I had with the SpyroxCynder fanbrats I've seen on Facebook, but when I learned that it will be rewritten, which includes Spyro and Cynder being siblings as originally intended and of course redesigned Cynder to look a bit closer to Spyro, I felt happy to jump on board into the project. So far, we've managed to come up with a voice cast, particularly for Japanese and English (the main English-speaking countries, of course). After some discussing over what actors we have, here's what we've finalised with:
Japanese
Spyro - Hitori Gekidan
Sparx - Hiroyuki Miyasaka
Ignitus - Shinpachi Tsuji
Volteer - Naoya Uchida
Terrador / Gaul - Takashi Nagasako
Cyril / Mason - Shin-ichiro Miki
Cynder - Yūki Kodaira
Malefor - Ryūzaburō Ōtomo
Flash - Daisuke Namikawa
Nina - Yōko Asada
Mole-Yair / Exhumor - Hiroki Takahashi
Hermit / Scratch - Unshō Ishizuka
Chief Prowlus - Rikiya Koyama
Conductor - Minoru Inaba
Sniff - Tomohisa Asō
Kane - Tomomitsu Yamaguchi
Chronicler - Akio Nojima
Hunter - Isshen Chiba
Meadow - Yūsuke Numata
Skabb - Takayuki Sugō
English
Spyro - Quinton Flynn
Sparx - Todd Haberkorn
Ignitus - Patrick Seitz
Volteer / Scratch / Sniff - Vic Mignogna
Terrador / Gaul / Mason / Hermit / Chief Prowlus / Conductor - Travis Willingham
Cyril / Mole-Yair - Jerry Jewell
Cynder - Laura Bailey
Malefor - Sean Schemmel
Flash / Exhumor / Meadow - Kyle Hebert
Nina - Brina Palencia
Kane - Lucien Dodge
Chronicler - Kirk Thornton
Hunter - Johnny Yong Bosch
Skabb - Troy Baker
We've also thought up that the soundtrack would consist of new, original tracks along with arrangements of the songs made for TLoS. We're not sure on who could do the soundtrack, but I think Shirō Sagisu of Neon Genesis Evangelion fame could make a good serious soundtrack like he did with the anime series he is well associated with, including making a Japanese ballad arrangement of This Broken Soul and a J-pop remix of Guide You Home (I'll Die For You), the latter of which is of course about the remembrance of Ignitus, not about Spyro and Cynder falling in "love" as some of the fanbrats would think of the song. Shinnosuke Tachibana and Shoko Nagakawa would be the duet singers for the Japanese version, while in English we could either have Vic Mignogna or Sean Schemmel along with Brina Palencia singing the lyrics to the songs, after hearing how well they've sung the English version of Dragon Soul for Dragon Ball Z Kai. Seriously, hear the versions!

Star Wars The Force Awakens
Posted 10 years agoAll I got to say is that the film is EPIC! A lot of effort was put into the movie! To think that a lot of us at first doubted that Disney would handle the Star Wars franchise, they actually gave us something that we hoped for so long after the disappointment of the prequels (though I'll admit Revenge of the Sith was okay and somewhat redeemable). The Force Awakens truly felt like a Star Wars movie, and you can tell that so much love and dedication was put into the movie. I won't say anymore so that I won't spoil anything. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, go watch it now! I highly recommend it! This film gets a 10 out of 10 lightsabres from me. Thank you Disney and J. J. Abrams!
That's all for now, hope you have a good evening, and may the Force be with you!

Annoucing K. Rool Month
Posted 10 years agoI want to make a special announcement to everyone following this journal, especially to those who are fans of King K. Rool. To commemorate the loss of him appearing in the new Super Smash Bros, I suggest we should have a month dedicated to making fanart and/or fanfiction of our beloved Kremling King. Nintendo may have failed us, and some of us plan to renounce our following of the company, but our love for all those Nintendo characters, shall stay strong. We shall call this K. Rool Month, and I think the best time to start will be January of the new year. It is the only way we can show our loyalty and spread the word to make our voices heard (which Nintendo will ignore, unfortunately). This is not a commission or art request, but an opportunity for us to pay tribute to the big mean, yet lovable crocodile that is sadly overlooked and not given any credit where credit is due. Let's hope for the future that King K. Rool will finally make the cut as a Super Smash Bros fighter, and especially return to his former glory in the Donkey Kong Country Returns series. KING K. ROOL LIVES!
Nintendo is biased against furry/scaly characters
Posted 10 years agoWell, the news about the vote on the last Super Smash Bros character has been confirmed. Bayonetta has won by a landslide and according to some videos was nominated #1 in Europe and North America.
My only response to this is, "Why?"
People don't seem to care about King K. Rool anymore, and Nintendo is making things worse by excluding him in most of their recent titles. Doesn't help that they trolled us with that stupid Mii costume. What is their problem with scaly characters?! I mean, they're always given the short end of the stick, and they deserve better. They've done this to the Koopalings and now they've done this to our beloved Kremling king who deserves to be given as much respect as Bowser. I mean, seriously, Mario has Bowser, Link has Ganondorf, and Kirby has King Dedede, so why can't they allow Donkey Kong's villain join the fray as well?
I keep hearing stuff like "Nintendo doesn't want to use King K. Rool, get with the times," or "King K. Rool and the Kremlings are owned by Rare, so Microsoft owns them now." I call that bullshit, because one, King K. Rool has a huge fanbase and he's more memorable than that Tiki guy, whatever his name is, or that Snowmad leader, I don't even known his name either. You see what I mean? The new villains in Donkey Kong Country Returns are forgettable, but King K. Rool still lives on in our memories and fandom. Exactly why they won't listen is beyond me.
That just tears it, I'm boycotting Nintendo and Super Smash Bros indefinitely. Unless Nintendo finally listens to their fans, then all hope is lost. I need to get something to eat to calm myself down. This is so depressing. Made even worse that this had to happen right before Christmas. What a cruel world we live in. Been in so much stress this year. This is a sad day for K. Rool fans and reptile fans alike. See you soon, everyone. I feel like crying now...

My theories on the Super Mario Bros timeline
Posted 10 years agoBowser Day is almost coming to a close, so I want to share something. I have some interesting theories on the timeline for the Mario universe, which starts first with Bowser's birthday. Sure, everyone established August 4th as Bowser Day, but surprisingly no one ever thought up a year he was born. I think 1964 would be the perfect year for him to be born. Why? Well, think about it, August 4th, 1964 can be shortened into 8-4-64. It references the original Super Mario Bros even more cause, sure, Hard Mode is just a repeat of all the 8 worlds with faster enemies and Buzzy Beetles replacing the Goombas, but that makes it a total of 64 levels altogether. See if you can find other connections as well. ;) But I digress. With Bowser's birthday as August 4th, 1964, that means he would be 51 now, well if he did age. Truthfully, I don't consider him to be that old in the games. I actually consider him to be in his 30s, which now leads to my theory on the timeline for the games in the main series. Just to clarify, the timeline doesn't really mean the year the games came out, but more like the time the events of the games took place. This is all opinion-based, of course. ^^;
1966 - Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2
1967 - Yoshi's Island DS
1981 - Donkey Kong/Donkey Kong Jr.
1983 - Mario Bros

1998 - Super Mario 3D Land/Super Mario 3D World
Since I considered Bowser to be born in 1964 and I consider the events of the recent Mario games to be around 1997 to 1998, it's safe to say that Bowser's in his 30s at that point. So that about wraps up my journal for the big annual day of Bowsermania. I had a lot of writing this, and I hope you all enjoy listening to some of my theories, ideas, and headcanons surrounding him and even the Mario franchise. Happy Bowser Day, everyone!

Just need to get this off my back...
Posted 10 years agoOn Deviantart, I've been posting theories that Bowser, my most favourite Mario character, isn't really a bad guy, and recently, I got a rather rude comment from some jackass who claimed my arguments are invalid because how Bowser is supposedly portrayed in the games.
*sigh* Why can't people respect others opinions? I'm entitled to believe what I want to believe about Bowser, and even if he does bad things for most part, that doesn't necessarily mean he's incapable of being a good guy on certain occasions. I don't even give a damn what is canon or not.
I just think it's farfetched to say things like "Bowser's pure evil! He actually wants to kill Peach and destroy the world! He wants the koopalings to grow up into 'sneaky, two-faced, cheating illiterates' like him! Blah, blah, blah, blah..." enough! That really ticks me off, especially when they have the nerve to quote a line from the cartoon version of Bowser (aka King Koopa), whose villainy is exaggerated there since he was the antagonist in Super Mario World and there was no other well-established villain at the time.
Not trying to boast here, I feel as if I know Bowser very much as the character. I've read all about him, played the Mario games, looked deeply into his background, and I can safely say that he is not an evil villain. While he may be antagonistic towards Mario and Luigi, let's look at some instances which proves Bowser's innocence.
Bowser has a large number of followers, ranging from Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Bob-ombs, and so on and so forth. They all admire the Koopa King and look up to him as a magnificent leader, which he desires from his followers to do so. His very presence emits an aura of confidence, ambition, loyalty, and encouragement. Bowser is very confident with himself, he sees himself as a great and outstanding Koopa and knows that all his followers support him with utmost devotion. He is ambitious as he greatly desires to make Princess Peach his queen so that they can rule both kingdoms, he shows back loyalty to his followers and even encourages them to do their duties. Many examples of these are evident in several Mario games, especially the Mario and Luigi series.
More example of his loyalty and encouragement is shown in the ending of Super Mario Sunshine, where Bowser and Bowser Jr. are sitting alone and he was feeling remorseful for lying to his son about Princess Peach being his mom (it's still a mystery where he and the Koopalings came from). When Bowser Jr. declares that he wants to fight Mario again, Bowser said with delight "That's my boy, well put son!" Definitely loyal and encouraging.
Of course, he does have his shortcomings, like any other character, especially THE GOOD GUYS! He tends to be prideful, arrogant, and self-centred, and that is expected from a character like him. He's proud to be strong, proud to be a king, and proud to be a ruler. He also tends to be melodramatic, being a hot-head and all that stuff, which is essentially, BEING EMOTIONAL! Emotions are also part of the sensitive trait, which unfortunately many fans fail to acknowledge when it comes to Bowser's character.
Speaking of sensitivity, Bowser, being the proud Koopa, is very clever to hide his emotions. He clearly doesn't want his followers to see his sensitive side, since this is something not many expect from a guy like him. Whenever he orders his minions to leave him alone, it is quite clear that he is about to let out his true emotions, and he felt that the others would interpret it as a form of weakness when he should be the big, powerful, iron-clad leader. Not to mention his fiery personality, which is fitting enough as he's a Koopa who breathes fire, making him a dragon-turtle of sorts.
It is quite obvious that Bowser's actions are not because he's evil, but because he's frustrated that he gets defeated by two mere plumbers. He's a character who is very proud of his status, desires to win Peach's heart, but the failures are practically dents and scars to his pride. The symbolism of the lion as the king of the jungle.
So, to sum up Bowser's personality, he is charismatic, strong-willed, proud, sensitive, temperamental, tends to be rash with his decisions and pursuits, but he is also loyal, encouraging, cares for his followers and family, and strives to keep his kingdom in an orderly fashion. To me, that sounds nothing like what a truly evil villain does. In all seriousness, Nintendo should really explore more on Bowser's character development, because there is PLENTY of potential for Bowser becoming a possible good guy.
And to all those who would say "But he's evil in the DiC cartoons!", there's a BIG difference between King Koopa and Bowser, even if they're both the same character. King Koopa is partially based on Bowser, but he's also based on Wart, given the fact that The Super Mario Bros Super Show takes a lot more from Super Mario Bros 2 than the original Super Mario Bros. Little is known about Wart's character, except for the fact that he enslaved the world of Subcon. Don't forget the fact that Super Mario Bros. 2 was also based on the Japanese-only game Doki Doki Panic, which features characters from a Japanese TV show.
That's all I gotta say for this rant. I hope many of you will read this and take further considerations on what kind of character Bowser is, because he's more than just this typical villain that kidnaps a princess every game, and it really angers me that some fans portray and say stuff like "Look out! Bowser is dangerous! He's full of hatred! He's a cruel, cold-hearted, bloodthirsty, maniacal, insidious, sadistic, psychopathic, malicious, murderous monster!" based on the fact that he's the most prominent adversary for Nintendo's biggest mascot.
Take care, everyone, and I'll see you all next time.
