Posted a year agoHey all. I don't know how this happened, I had 2fa enabled, changed my password, and kept unfamiliar sessions clean, but somehow a hacker got ahold of my telegram account and the moment the realized they were caught, booted me out and I've lost all the contacts I had through there.
If you had me added on Telegram, any messages you're recieving from that number are NOT from me and you should delete that chat immediately and send me a note for my new telegram info.

What's been goin on.
Posted a year agoTo begin with, I just want to say that I haven't been okay. The past few years have been very taxing physically, mentally, and emotionally. Right now I'm taking steps to improve things, and part of that process is coming forward to share the events of the past few years with you all.
I first began taking commissions when my life was in a very different place. I was working for the family business, living in the family home, attending college full time, and had security in every aspect of my life. Then in 2021, after Mom passed from cancer, things began to slip downhill. That in itself was a difficult period, compounded by months of financial hardship for the entire family as the business closed and Dad needed someone to keep things afloat. I took a job working for Walmart and my older brother moved in to help keep the family home in order with his factory job income, and together we decided to invest in buying the house off Dad and let him retire in his own home properly.
At some point about a year later I decided to stop working for Walmart, as anyone who's worked there as well can tell you it's horrible. I decided the $16/hr paycheck wasn't worth it and after a lot of careful consideration decided to strike out as an independent artist, which felt like a relatively safe option given that I'd been blessed with a sizable savings account and a brother with a high paying job to cover half of the expenses.
Things fell apart very quickly after that. It was around this time that I'd been made aware of the debts the house had run up in terms of taxes and utilities in the years leading up, and my brother's time in the military had left some scars. He turned to alcohol and soon spiraled into a completely different person. He lost his job, his car, and what little money he did have was spent on liquor. There was a point where some evenings were spent locked in the bathroom just to feel safe, as he had a lot of anger and aggression that surfaced when he drank. I'd only ever been attacked once, but once was enough.
I was left as the sole provider for not just a large house but an empty building across the street, as the business (despite being closed) still needed water, sewage, and power until it was sold. It was thousands every month, and before long my savings dwindled into the single digits, and most days I was barely able to scrape by. It was during these months that I made many mistakes, taking on commissions before the current ones were done to keep the lights on, and struggling to handle it all. It was such a stressful time that I can hardly even remember much of it, and my recollection of events is based mostly off of PayPal statements and testimony from friends. Even now I feel like I have issues with short term memory.
During the Summer of last year my Dad and I made the decision to sell the house to pay off the debts, and thankfully we all had backup plans so no one would end up in the streets. Mine was probably the most complicated, as it involved moving from Pennsylvania to Florida with only a week to prepare. So what little I had was spent on a U-Haul, and the next few days were packing up everything I could, though much was left behind with the understanding that I'd return a week later to collect the rest. I came back a week later to find that my other brother had stolen/destroyed anything and everything I hadn't taken with me the first time. My clothes, electronics, college art portfolio, thousands of dollars worth of antiques, an extensive model collection, dozens of books, and jewelry and heirlooms passed down to me from Mom and Grandma. The only reason he gave for why he did this was that I was wrong to leave it in the first place, so I obviously didn't want it, and when it was made apparent I was upset by this, I was threatened with physical violence.
Among what was lost was an extensive portfolio of sketches and commissions, some physical and some stored on a laptop and tablet that were also destroyed. Most of it was already finished, but much of it was works in progress. Also among it all was my queue, which was kept in the form of physical notes, as having access to power/internet wasn't always guaranteed. Stupid, I know, but that's what I thought was best at the time. Thinking back now, learning by snooping through my stuff that I was not only gay, but a furry who drew fetish art may have been an inspiration on his part.
I've tried to piece things together since then by going through DMs and PayPal records, but it hasn't been going well. There are many people with outstanding commissions and YCHs, some of whom have come forward and some who haven't. Some have been rightfully angry, and some have shown sympathy. But many are still in limbo, and for that I sincerely apologize. I want to set things right and make sure everyone gets what they're owed. So if you have an outstanding commission from me and haven't already, please send me a private message so I can make sure my newly formed queue is complete and at some point very soon make it public as many have recommended. If you're angry, you're right to be and I won't try and tell you you're wrong for feeling scammed, even if that was never my intention. But for the vast majority who've heard this story privately and have shown patience and understanding, just know that I'm forever grateful for your kindness.

Posted 2 years agoAs a reminder, the Cursed Amulet YCH (this one) has only 2 remaining slots open before being closed full stop. The other YCHs, which can be found in the YCH folder in my gallery remain open. Sketches and full commissions are also open, infor for those can be found here and here, respectively.
If I've seemed inactive the past few months its probably because I've been using Twitter to share art and make announcements more than FA these days, though I do plan on changing that, starting with a flood of some recent work from Twitter being upliaded here. Tablet Problems
Posted 2 years agoHey all, so the way I do work is by making and storing things on a tablet, which I stupidly never bothered to back up. Because that tablet is currently bricked and may very well not be fixable. This means all my work- YCH bases, comms, a large amount of art that's never even been posted- all gone.
I'm doing what I can to save this data but it won't be easy, fast, or cheap. So in the meantime I apologize to all my commissioners for this inconvenience. I'm doing what I can to arrange a solution as soon as possible, but until then the only form of work I'm capable of doing is traditional sketches.

Commissions Closed and on Hold
Posted 4 years agoHey all, so apparently the hackers who stole my Discord account also got ahold of my banking information, meaning I have to shut down my bank accounts all together. Since it's no longer safe or even possible for me to send and receive payments for a while, I'm closing commissions and putting a hold on the ones I do already have until the coast is clear. I sincerely apologize to the people I'm keeping waiting for all of this.

Discord Hack
Posted 4 years agoSome of you may have seen on Twitter that my Discord account was recently hacked and it's doubtful that I'll be getting it back. I've already made an announcement on the server itself but if you haven't seen it I'm advising you to leave it now. I'm working on getting a newer, better one set up in the meantime since the original is now in the hands of a hacker.
That being said, if you receive any DMs from my original account (TheDandyHorse#2231) do NOT trust it, that is no longer me.
What's especially frustrating is that I'm not even sure how this happened. I didn't accept any strange friend request or click on any untrusted links, the only people I interact with are friends and people I trust, and anyone trying to contact me with no reason (even if we share servers) are ignored. I did everything right and I was still targeted and almost lost ~$200 that the hacker tried to use for Nitro boosts.
Ugh.

I also want to apologize for things moving as slowly as they are- it's been a busy month for my family and I'm trying to keep myself from burning out more than I already have, so I appreciate your patience. I might go on a first come first serve basis, or if I get more than expected I might take all requests and sort through and pick the ones I like the best, or something in between. Posted 6 years agoBeen a while since I've made a journal, figured I'd clear out the cobwebs, so to speak! Life updates! Umm, the YCHs are coming along smoothly, I'll probably post them en masse once they're all done. Birthday is in three days (on the 14th), and oh yeah! Posted 7 years agoHidy ho neighbors! I'm opening up some slots for a few commissions, so if you like my stuff enough to decide you want on, then here's some stuff to know!
First off! A simple black and white lined image will be $15, while a fully colored (but not shaded) will be $20!
At current I am not doing shaded pieces.
IF you want more than one character, that's fine! It will be an additional $5 for a b/w image, and an additional $10 for a colored, up to two additional characters!
These will be for single images, NOT sequences!
I WILL charge extra for complex fur patterns, like on a zebra or cheetah.
And be sure to check my user page for a list of things I will and won't draw!
I'm thinking I'll take around four (might be one more, or one less, depends on a few things) but if you want one, just comment down below with,
A) What style you want, either b/w or colored.
B) How many characters you want.
C) References for said character(s), either links or a brief description.
D) A simple description of what kind of scene you want.
I reserve the right to pass someone up if what they're asking for is on my list of don'ts, or even list of "mehs" in favor of something I'm more comfortable with! Not saying it WILL happen, but there is a significant chance.

Discord Server, 500 Watchers, and Commissions! Oh My!
Posted 7 years agoA couple of people in the past have asked if I do any social networking like Kik or anything, which I don't, I do however use Discord as of late, so I figured I'd open up a public server for people to use if they want to get ahold of me and have a more immediate response than FA would otherwise get them. So, here ye go I guess!

Posted 8 years agoI was having fun. I was enjoying my evening on Elder Scrolls Online. About o win 25k gold after a loooong round, Game froze. Computer crashed. Had to restart. Computer ignored the no update setting. Took 30 minutes to update. Update failed. Took 30 minutes to remove updates. Bill Gates, wherever you are, I hope someday you know the pain you've caused me.
