Wonderland deck has been completed!
Posted 14 years agoJust so you know... the Wonderland is COMPLETE and has been sent in for printing YAYYYYY! Thanks to slashersivi for planning the project... and thanks to all that contributed and requested commissions.
For those whom have been waiting and dying to see what the final format will look like... http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5681915
I made more "Wonderland" like card symbols and used the burton wonderland font for the letters and numbers. But yeah... it was officially fully assembled last night and sent off today :D!
Thank you! That is all!

10 things about myself
1. I dream desperately in becoming a freelance illustrator. Graphic design just is my day job.
2. I never went through the phase of not knowing what I wanted to do. I thought of things I could do on top of what I wanted to do but I knew that I wanted to become an artist by the time I was 5.
3. I may not be a furry in real life but I do go to anime cons... I'm just an artist.
4. I shy, antisocial, and awkward; but I don't particularly care that I am oddly. BUT... I'm also not like maliciously antisocial... so feel free to talk to me. I'm a REALLY nice person and have been known for being cutesy at times.
5. I love to travel (When I can afford it >.<). I find it inspirational and an important part of self growth.
6. I grew up really fast. My mom says that I had the "2 to 30" syndrome. I may have a slight cute act about me or make silly noises NOW but it's really just for amusement. So I have a slight hard time "just relaxing" and I'm a tad socially dense.
7. I'm what people call a muse (not in the cocky sense). I have a habit of making anything out of nothing (from art to food)... even if I've never done it before I'll do it. I like making things. Once I was called over to an old college mates place (the day before their con) because they were cosplaying and I know how to sew. One of them had take the others corset pieces (steampunk airpirate... original character) she had cut out and the pattern. So seeing that she had more fabric left, I asked her if it would be alright and if she had paper I'd like to try to make one from scratch (I'd never even made one from a pattern before) to make her feel better. 18 hrs later and only one break for dinner, I created a complete, professional-quality replica of the corset from her illustration including edging, lining, bones, and front plate (her boyfriend helped me cut bones and plate because he's a guy and stronger than me). We were all pretty mind blown... especially me.
8. I look rather younger than I actually am... I'm get mistaken for anywhere between 16-21... (pst I'll be 27 this year).
9. Once I really befriend and connect with someone, I'm INSANELY loyal to the end. If anyone knows me in real life they could tell you. My best friend and I had a thing (more than a fling but less than a relationship) six years ago and we've been a team ever since.
10. I secretly like funky hats. Not the feathered one but the kawaii creature ones. I've been to animeboston 3 years in a row so I tell myself to get one everytime I go. I have a black mokona one, a random cute black bunny with neon green cheeks and LONG under ears that are about waist long, and I just got a squid one with tentacles.

Back from ABcon and an to do list let people know
Posted 14 years agoSooo I got back from the ABcon yesterday... (well "got back" is relative I just commuted in and back Friday and Saturday since I live just 30 minutes away from boston). I have chores and commissions so I didn't go today... plus the schedule isn't really worth it to make a third trip. The real bonus about going in on Sunday's are the dealers have mad discounts to get rid of their merchandise; but seeing as I spent enough the last two days... I'd rather not hahahaha. That's things I got in the dealer's room are thing that go FAST. Shhhhhhhhhuuush it seriously can't be helped at cons. I'm not the type to just blow money but when there is anime, manga, and video games that are hard to find gahhhhh. Then there are just random things and ohhhh the artist alley. I'm not a furry in real life but I do go to anime cons (well one... Boston is every year in the spring).
I went in cosplay my first year but haven't my last two years. I just don't have the time to do the costumes I want because I like the characters that test my sewing and innovation skills. I like making costumes that are fully finished off (I'm an artist... I'm picky about my work lol) and making massive and accurate weapons take time too. Besides I'm on the antisocial side so I spend most of my time darting in and out of workshops and panels (which means my photo collection is on the shy side too). I did get a hug from an awesome looking Renji with his activated Bankai because I asked him if I could take his photo. Usually I just wait until someone asks a person and I sneak in or I just take lots of candid photos... but if I'm impressed I will asked. Because it was Easter weekend, the crowd wasn't as huge as it usually is. It was still BIG but not as massive. Only one of my panels was so packed that we were standing and that was Behind Character Developing.
This year I attended the Figure Drawing workshop (the same one I did lat year... you can never get enough of figure drawing), The Business of Art and Comics (marketing) panel, Old School Panel Inking, The process of making Traditional Japanese and Chinese Instruments, Action Figure Drawing with Dirk Tiede, The Trends behind the Lolita Fashion, Behind Character Developing, How to Make Backgrounds that really create Settings, and the History and Mind of Hayao Miyasaki.
As for schwag... I usually make a mental list before I go... like my first year was a new messenger bag and last year was a hoodie. I always have an item in my head that I NEED to get (it's how I am on a normal basis because I don't actually find shopping overwhelming... I not a person that likes to shop). This was the Chobbits DVD and I always get a funky hat (a hidden nerdy trait of mine... I always get a funky hat). The Chobbit series is actually rather good but it's out of production for the most part so it's hard to find. The dealer room literally only had two copies and this was the first time they had the complete collection. So this was the year of anime (I didn't get manga or games... one I sort of lack the time to really get into reading an entire manga series now and there was a game or two I liked but the Dealer Room is always SOOOO expensive... why pay twice the price I can get it at Game Stop). So I got Chobbits complete series, Gunslinger Girls complete series, and Holic season one. Wow if our anime choices say things about us... those three make me look sad. It says that I'm a highly subservient, loveless (love another but gets nothing in return), and I cook a lot and am overly caring for others rather than myself >.<. Anyways... ummm Dealer room. Well I like figurines and stuffies... but I can never justify them to get them... so I didn't get any. I like the chess sets though. Other than that... I got my yearly hat, 3 cute buttons (1 for $2 or 3 for $5 they all have deals like this), and 4 epically awesome mini prints from the dealer room. Then I got the rest from the Artist Alley. I like the artist alley... when it comes to trinkety items... or art I usually go there. You get everything from prints from artist to etched glass. I got this really neat 3d origami figure of toki doki's cactus girl. I like the artist alley because its more than fan art. As odd as that sounds... I'm one of the rare types that will go to the "original art" before looking at fan art. I get fan art but for me what I buy is all style based. If you wow me talent wise I'll get it no matter if it's original or fan art.
Well that's enough from me.... hehehe.

We had the charity auction yesterday!!! :D
Posted 14 years agoHello Hello!!!
Well we had our Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief: Silent Auction and Raffle Art Auction last night! A few of the college Alumni put this together since it was horrible and our school has strong ties with Japan (we have an exchange student program with our sister schools in Niigata). So we were really excited yesterday to finally see what was put together in a matter of less than a month. We got a little bit of support from local business and one of the alumni's mother's company offered to match what we raised last night. All of the food was on a potluck system. We had two live grills with hamburgers, hotdogs, and veggie burgers. We had pasta salad, onigiri, and gyoza. And I took a half a day off of work and made shortbread cookies and mini apple tarts. The auction was from 5:00 - 9:00 pm we had a little difficulty finding a person that would let us use some space but thankfully someone (apparently he's the new college gallery director but I graduated in 2007 so I didn't know who he was) let us use the bottom of his loft apt and the bands set up in his bedroom above.
Our auctions ended at 7 and 7:30 (so we could have time to call the raffle and distribute things). So in a matter of 2 hours and including the amount that the company matched us with, we were able to raise $4,299.12 to send over. YAY!!!! We did REALLY well for poor art college alumni!
Everyone who's gotten commissions from me knows that I, personally, donate 10% of all of my commissions to charities. But this sort of event makes the selfless even more selfless so without further ado I want to make a special shout out to
niconashadowwolf /
SnowQueen_TigerClaw and
keeatah
ALL... and that's an ALL! All of the money you paid for commissions was donated to this event ($55 for the auctions, $10 to some of the ingredients I needed to make the desserts)! ****Claps****
Thank you for your ear!!!! Back to the usual!

Current update, to do list, and cinematic disappointment
Posted 14 years agoZOMG.... Sucker Punch came out Friday. I WAS soooo excited! And yes I'm a chick... and yes I'm straight... but WAS soooo.
And it was a complete disaster... I'll probably write a full review later after all of my thoughts have fully gathered after watching this goulash but I'll say this much now... I was FULLY disappointed.
Oh I was super stoked to see it too; and I was really interested to see how it would mesh together because it is do able. Instead it pretty much failed at pretty much everything even down to costumes. It was as if he literally forgot story writing 101, any sense of character development, and the intriguing details weren't pushed enough. There wasn't even a "sucker punch" (literally yes but the idea was to be a figurative and emotional sucker punch). The only "emotion" I took away from the film was "poor baby dragon".
The Wonderland deck still has open slots!!!! Get them while they last!!!

(deck info: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1993096/ )
Examples:
Number cards are all that remain (so roles are basically the commoners... bakers, soldiers, workers, etc) but don't be sad or worry... your commission is still important, valued, and treated with the utmost care.

All other commissions are open as well.
If you like the theme of Alice in Wonderland and want your character done but don't want to be apart of the deck project, I will have some more info soon on Wonderland portraits!
All portraits will be a flat rate of $30. Since era attire is one of my specialties. You'll have the choice of general (themed) or pinup (swimsuit/ lingerie/ etc) which can be inspired by major characters (or if there is a character you like that I can't remember let me know), royal court, etc. (very flexible). The backgrounds will be just flat color but you'll have a choice of 4 themed borders (queens garden, tea party, miniature, and games). More info and borders coming soon!!!

If you get more than 30, I strongly recommend some counseling.
If you get more than 20, you’re paranoid.
If you get 10-20, you are normal.
If you get 10 or less, you’re fearless.
well when it comes to phobias... sure I'm normal. that doesn't say much for other times

What love really is... post valentines day
Posted 14 years agoAs most people know, I'm definitely not a Valentine's Day person. In my opinion if you actually love someone, love is year around rather than one commercialized day. Sure get something that means something for your loved one on the day... but really love is a year around thing.
Love means...
... makings sandwiches but Volunteering to have the open faced sandwich when there are only 3 pieces of bread.
... letting them know that they don't have to go through things Alone.
... Letting them know what they mean to you incase they forget that they are worth something.
... Encouraging them and grounding them to make sure they can achieve their goals.
... Never running away then they need you.
... randomly getting or making their favorite Treats even if they don't notice.
... being Involved.
... sticking through things even when times are Not as satisfactory.
... always loving them even if you're just friends and accepting it and doing things without Expecting things in return.
... always Supporting them even if they don't support you as much.
Love comes in many forms whether it's lover to lover, parent to child, or friend to friend. And no matter how large or how small the gesture is... it still means something if it actually comes from the heart.

Why not for V-day? These dogs need your help!!!
Posted 14 years agoOkay honestly I hate Valentine's Day, so now that that's cleared out of the way...
http://www.pawsnewengland.com/paws-.....nes-day-cards/
Two college mates of mine are volunteer foster parents for Paws. Rather than putting the dogs in shelters (because the organization is non profit) people nurse them back to health (if they are left in poor conditions) and foster them until they are adopted. My two mates foster prominently pits and they are the sweetest dogs ever. And for that... I see them as heroes and respect them highly for what they do and have done; but Paws could REALLY use your help. If possible... a donation would be very much appreciated. It goes to their standard costs such as fixing, medical attention, vaccinations, etc. Each dog is also equipped with a chip that can be activated when adopted.
These are just a few of the faces that walk through their doors.
Sukha (abandoned in a crate with severe mange... even the leader of Paws advise her to be put down because "you can't win them all". But one of them refused after seeing the long suffering she had already endured. After six months of a lot of TLC, the lovable pup fully recovered and was adopted last December)

And their latest case...
Milo (another of one of the sadder cases)

These are only a few of the dogs that come through... and only a few of the dogs I've met that go through their house. You're donations would be very much loved and not just from those that care about these lovable orphans. If they could talk they'd thank you too.

Commissions are open (my car needs fixin... again)
Posted 15 years agoSo ummm my car needs more work done (now it's the brakes). Not that my commissions were ever closed in the first place, but i'm just reminding people that they ARE open. VERY much open! I posted the link to my commission costs below but due to the lack of commissions, I'm thinking that I might very well surprise people and might discount some. That will give people an idea though.

Art Meme
Posted 15 years agoDear Furaffinity,
What do you, as the audience, think that my art style says about me personally?
What type of feeling do you get from it, and what kind of feeling does that give you about me?
(These next two questions assume you actually know me. Only a few people on these boards do. So you may skip these last two.)
Do you think it describes my personality well?
If not, what do you think would reflect it better?
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Commissions are open!
Posted 15 years agoSo my gas cable that connects the button to open my tank door and the latch broke. So I can't open the tank to fill it. The repair to get that part is going to cost me 400 dollars. Lame for a stupid little cable. So as always commissions are open... but as of right now commissions are DEFINITELY open. I can use some of my savings... though I don't have very much as it is... and I would like to pay pack the savings that I use. So as I said... commissions are open... DEFINITELY open!!!
