Help a puppy out, signal boost
Posted 9 years ago
kayla-na needs some help paying for surgery to get a bladderstone removed from her dog. The whole process is going to be around $800 so she's going to be opening commissions to help pay for the procedure, and will be temporarily allowing M/M and F/F NSFW commissions for the duration until she can pay off the cost of the surgery. Anyone willing to donate a little cash or spread the word would be greatly appreciated, it will help speed the process up and ultimately help out in the long run in alleviating this poor dog's suffering.

Unemployed Again
Posted 10 years agoAnd just like that I'm unemployed again.
Boss approached me when he came to give me my paycheck for the week and let me know that he couldn't afford to keep me on and was letting me go, apparently they got some major jobs coming up and he wants somebody with a little more experience. So while I'm grateful for the two weeks of employment and that we parted good terms I'm still annoyed that I wasn't deemed good enough for them to keep me on for the aforementioned projects coming up.
So once again I've had to cancel a bunch of patreon pledges and need to start looking for another job, somehow I doubt I'm going to find one as quickly as I did with the last one.

Terminated
Posted 10 years agoAfter 2 years of employment I find myself without again, boss let me go this afternoon for reasons I really don't feel like getting into at this time. Already looking for another job but until then gonna have to cancel a few projects I'd been planning on doing, likely all the patreon's I'm supporting too since I can't afford to commit to them until I get another job. Gonna suck having to apologize to everyone since it's right at the end of the month but I really can't afford to put myself in another situation like last time. Mom knows a contractor that might be hiring so we'll see how that plays out but until then I will be filling out applications.
Break in
Posted 10 years agoSo my brother's place was broken into today, thankfully nobody was home when it happened so nobody was hurt. Whoever hit the place apparently ransacked it once they got inside, luckily by the time they got to my brother's room something happened that apparently scared them off so he came out of it better off than his roommates. While he is no merely without his kindle our cats are okay and it seems like nothing else was stolen from him at least. Will be dropping by tomorrow to check up on him and relocate certain items over here until they can secure the house.

Unexpected Surprise
Posted 11 years agoSo I come back from work today after a fairly typical day to find my mom finishing up with dinner and my dad watching Waterworld in the living room, for the most part business as usual. I'm saying hello to everyone when I notice that all the doors leading to our rooms are shut and start ask my parents of we have guest since that's typically when my parents lock down the house like this, my dad responds by getting up from his chair and lifting up the lounge next to him to reveal a tiny Pomeranian puppy huddled comfortably beneath. -Squeals- So happy!
And Back!
Posted 11 years agoAlrighty, I’m back. Here’s a quick report of what went down on the trip sans the flight to and from our destination.
Day 1
We arrived in Barcelona after a hellacious 9 hour plane ride from Atlanta that I was mercifully able to sleep through 4 hours of, burning the other 5 hours watching Winter Soldier and several episodes of Community as part of my inflight entertainment. Was able to sustain myself with a leftover sub I brought with my from Subway and some chocolate covered bacon bars I found in the airport, which I am sad to say I have since become addicted to. Since it was early-ish when we arrived we checked into our hotel and wandered around the immediate area for a while, exploring the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia since it was just a few blocks away from our hotel and admiring the various different styles of architecture that laden the city of Barcelona. They seriously have some majorly beautiful buildings scattered throughout the city, unfortunately this really didn’t distract from the somewhat rancid smell that was somewhat constant throughout our time in the city. We have concluded that it was either sewage or the smell of dead fish, the latter being likely given our proximity to the port but all the same not entirely sure. Dinner consisted of us running around for about an hour looking for someplace to eat, ironic considering we passed up like two dozen different places we could have gone that apparently weren’t up to my dad’s standard for the trip. We ended up settling for this little local diner where I tried rabbit, have to admit it was pretty good once I figured out how to separate the meat from the bone without stabbing myself. All in all was a pretty good meal though I think it probably would have been better with a little marina or special sauce.
Day 2
The day got off to an early start, and by that I mean I woke up at like 5 and spent the next 3 hours waiting for my brother to wake up so we could go eat something. We walked down to some little café chain we saw the day before that wasn’t too far off from where we were staying, breakfast consisted of chocolate croissants and chocolate (both of which were amazing). Afterwards we met up with our parents and hopped aboard a bus tour of the city which took us to the Sagrada Família, which was definitely the high point of the day and one of the few sites in Spain that I was remotely aware of and actually wanted to visit. Spent the better part of the day waiting to get into the Basilica and it was seriously well worth the wait, I really cannot describe how awe-inspiring it was to stand within such a marvel of architecture. My only regret is that the towers were booked up so we weren’t able to go into them, thankfully we noticed the museum on the lower levels of the basilica when my dad went to use the bathroom so we didn’t pass it up. Kinda wish we would have found some of the rubble from the construction going on, really would have liked to take some of that home as a souvenir so I could have had it made into amulet or something. After that we hopped back on the bus for a bit and spent the rest of the day hiking up a rather large hill overlooking the city, where I had the pleasure of finding a trio of green parrots clustered together in one of Barcelona’s many umbrella pine trees before heading back to the hotel for the night.
Day 3
Another early morning which was spent boarding the cruise ship to Naples, by the time everything was said and done it was 4 or 5 in the afternoon. We had some time before the ship cast off to sea so we explored the upper deck for a little bit, brother and I ended up finding a giant chess set just behind the arcade so we ended up playing. The match actually lasted a lot longer than either of us expected given our previous games, think we were there for close to two hours during which time we had a small crowd come to watch us play which was kinda cool. Later that night we all watched Blue Man Group, have to say it was interesting considering I’ve never really been a 100% clear on what that show is actually about. Actually got called up to assist in the show towards the end, this entailed me getting dressed in an apron and having a helmet thrust upon my head so I couldn’t see at which point I was spun around, pelted with paint, and slammed into a canvas. I find that my family enjoyed that part of the show a little too much, and given that I kept running into people throughout the rest of the cruise that recognized me from the show I was actually fairly popular for the duration of the trip.
Day 4
Spent the whole day out at sea which normally would suck for me given that I get seasick but thankfully there was plenty to keep me busy and distracted about my immediate situation. Didn’t really do all that much, mostly just spent the day exploring the ship with my brother and keeping ourselves entertained as best we could. Our plans to play pool were derailed by some kid that swooped in and claimed our table before either of us could grab it, so we ended up opting out for playing darts since there was a dartboard right across from us. That being said I realize that I really suck at throwing darts and should probably make it a point to get dartboard so I can practice with as wide as some of my shots were going, still managed to kill a few hours competing with my brother. We spent WAY more time there than we intended, game is surprisingly addictive. Met the folks for dinner which was featured while watching Cirque de Ole which made it really hard to eat with how focused we were on the show, they had some seriously talented acrobats and jugglers performing in a rather enclosed area that was real entertaining to watch. Ended up getting called up to help out during the show again, this time ringing a cowbell in sequence with about 4 other people. Family thinks the cruise had me marked somehow and honestly it really wouldn’t have surprised if I had been. Dinner itself was pretty good but a bit too salty for my liking, still they served up some great potato wedges that I wouldn’t mind eating again. After the show we took off to an ice bar on one of the upper decks where my brother and I got into a bit of a competition to see who could stand the cold the longest without wussing out, I think I had him beat considering I was actually sitting on one of the ice chairs for a few minutes before we decided to leave but officially it was a tie.
Day 5
We arrived in Naples and pretty much immediately set out for Mount Vesuvius, one of the few excursions we booked that I was really excited about. The scenery on the way up to the mountain was beautiful, so many different types of plants covering more or less every inch of Naples thanks for the volcanic soil in the surrounding area. Honestly the drive up was pretty pleasant outside of a rather large number of turns going up the mountain along with a few close calls with oncoming traffic that scared the crap out of me, roads up there really need to be expanded to accommodate for more than one vehicle. We drove a good portion of the way up the mountain but ultimately had to hike to reach the top, dad and I outpaced my mom and brother pretty early on and were able to walk around from one side of the Caldera to the other without any incident. Had a really good view of the center of the Caldera from where we were along with towns and coast scattered around the mountain. Dad had really been wanting to check out Vesuvius for a long time so I’m glad that we were finally able to scratch that and Pompeii off his bucket list. The city of Pompeii was a little disappointing in that it really wasn’t how I envisioned it would be, but our tour guide did a pretty good job of showing us around and keeping us pretty entertained so it was still pretty cool. We walked around Naples for a bit afterwards where I ended up paying for a gift my brother wanted to get for someone as well as something for my mom’s birthday. We decided to hit up one of the restaurants aboard the ship and since I was feeling pretty adventurous I ended up trying the escargot which turned out to be pretty damn good, so much so that we ordered seconds.
Day 6
Finally made it to Rome which was probably THE place we were all looking forward to, city was beautiful and I really wish we would have had more time to explore it more thoroughly than we had but sadly our tour guide rushed us through quite a bit of it. The Trevi Fountain was being renovated along with several other areas of the city so while we got to see it we really didn’t get to see much of it and we were rushed through what little we actually got to see though I did manage to snag a quick video of it while I was moving through the line. The Coliseum was a little less awe-inspiring than I expected and quite frankly I blame Hollywood for that since years of cinema had built up my expectations to it being this huge, grand football like stadium. All the same it was someplace we’ve all wanted to go for a long time so it was still worth seeing. I think the biggest disappointment though was that we had to rush through the Vatican after waiting like over an hour and half just to get in there, it was mostly just us running around taking pictures and we really couldn’t enjoy it the way we should have been able to since we had only about 15 or so minutes to look around. Honestly that was a real shame because it was beautiful and I would have really liked to explore it further in more detail than I had the chance to. The Parthenon wasn’t even on the tour which was a bummer but that’s just something my brother and I plan on hitting up the next time we head back down that way.
Day 7
We had a lot more time to explore Tuscany which was cool since we got the opportunity to see the Leaning Tower and structures surrounding it, one thing they really fail to mention when they talk about that area is that it’s not just the tower that’s leaning. A bunch of the buildings surrounding the tower were at a bit of an angle, which became much more noticeable when we started comparing the older architecture with the newer structures built on top of them. We didn’t actually get to go in the tower due to their being a limit to the number of people that can go inside, would have taken too long for us to get in so instead we just opted to look around and take pictures before heading back to the boat for the evening.
Day 8
I honestly forget the last place we visited but I know it was in Monaco since the excursion my parents tried to book was for an excursion into Monte Carlo. We spent the whole day visiting a monastery and driving around the surrounding mountain range which was actually quite beautiful due to the amount of vegetation growing coupled with the way the towns had worked the landscape into different, even steps throughout most of the mountain range we saw for the benefit of the farmers and their crops. It was rather beautiful landscape and something that I really enjoyed seeing though like with Vesuvius the roads running along the area were a jumble of twist and narrow turns that made everyone pretty nauseous after a while. At the end of the excursion we boarded a train that took us back to the pier, thankfully bypassing the two hours of traveling back across the winding labyrinth that was that mountain road.
Day 9
Pulled back into Barcelona and pretty much just killed the rest of the day preparing for the flight back home, at that point we really didn’t feel like doing much and tensions were running a little high with my parents stressing about the luggage for the upcoming flight so brother and I just crashed in the room and slept off a good portion of the day between reading and watching TV.
All in all I have to say it was a fairly good trip, not really near as fun as the trip I took to Britain with my brother a few years back but still a fairly enjoyable time spent with my family.

Heading out for a few weeks
Posted 11 years agoGoing to Spain.
Then to France.
Then to Italy.
Not necessarily in that order. Either way be back in about 11-14 days give or take, so more details when I get back. Don't know what's in store other than the plane ride is going to suck, but should be fun =3
Lizardbeth is taking commissions
Posted 11 years agoRighto! So here's the deal, a lot of you are probably pretty familiar with
lizardbeth but for those of you that aren't she's a really talented artist who's done a lot of great art over the years and was responsible for the rather successful webcomic Broken Plot Device before she took a sabbatical from it to deal with a few personal issues. Well she just finished moving into a new place and could use a little cash to help her pay for a few important things like electricity and food, that being said she's decided to start taking commissions to pay for all of this so any business going her way would be greatly appreciated. She's a great artist and person who've I had the pleasure of working with before, if you got a little extra cash to spend and want some quality art I would highly recommend looking her up.
You can find the details to her situation and commission info here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5692251/

David Clement-Davies Support Kickstarter
Posted 11 years agoAnyone who is an avid fan and reader of Animal-fiction/Animal-Fantasy would have probably have heard of David Clement-Davies. His books Fire Bringer and The Sight are some of the most memorable books that I cherished fondly as a youngster and still read pretty religiously, can honestly say he is one of the few authors that truly made me re-evaluate how I look at the world and life in general. I'm sure there are a few amongst you who might have similar feeling towards this great author.
However Mr.Clement-Davies has been having problems and needs some help. Something to do with a falling out with US publishers- his Kickstarter page details it better than I. It’s a tragedy that this respected author is struggling to get his new book, Light of the White Bear, published in anything besides an e-book.
So if you guys can spare a few 'bob/mollar/dosh' or spread the word than head over to his Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/project.....the-white-bear
Every little helps...
