Yay :D
General | Posted 17 years agoWell, it only took a year or so of chatting about FA now and then, but it looks like Fred is going to give this place a chance and share some art here. I've continued to recommend the place as a good place to share both his adult stuff and regular art despite the occassional asshole and what have you. You can find his account at the appropriately named

Off to AWA!
General | Posted 17 years agoMy flight leaves at 6am Eastern this morning, so I'm just about to head out. Hope to have a fun time for my birthday there. Take care all. :)
Out of the hotel...
General | Posted 17 years agoWell, 5 weeks were spent in an extended stay hotel while I waited for one of the townhomes I've bid on to head towards a close, but with it looking like it'd be at least another month of waiting I decided to find a corporate housing condo I could move into for month-to-month leasing instead. For $200 less per month then the hotel, I now have a furnished 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo with a full kitchen and my own washer and dryer. And with an actual internet hookup instead of just wireless, I've been able to hook up my desktop. I'm still waiting for the banks forclosing on the townhouses I've bid on to accept one of my offers but this is a much better place to wait at.
I'm hoping to resume posting my commissions here later tonight to share with folks. (:-

Another year, another journal
General | Posted 17 years agoLooks like my last entry was done after AWA, so I might as well do an entry here like everyone else.
Gripe time:
I began looking for a condo/townhome to buy 3 months ago when my apartment's lease was due to end on July 29th. I didn't have much trouble getting the bank loan but I never imagined just how damn slow the banks that were selling properties (I'm looking at pre-forclosures for the most part) were in accepting bids. I definitely gave the first bank too long to decide before putting in another bid on a second place. After three weeks of no reply, I finally started looking again.
I've got 5 or 6 bids waiting now, some below list price, a few at list price. All have been agreed on by the home owner, but since they're in pre-forclosure, I have to wait for their bank to accept the offer as well. Even when THAT is done, that's only the first step and first contract. Following that is a 1-3 month process of actually closing on the sale where I have to get an appraiser and an inspector to check over the property so my bank will confirm the loan.
Several things piss me off about the delays since the banks haven't ever replied back with a simple 'no thanks, that's not a good enough bid'. First, the time for moving out of my apartment has now come and gone... so I had to move all my crap into storage and set myself up in an extended stay place for a month or two while waiting for the banks to get off their asses. Second, the awesome rate I had for my loan was only locked in for 30 days, which also came and went, so now it's a floating rate that has continued to rise due to the economy. These delays might wind up costing me an additional $30,000+ in the end. Third, living out of a hotel means I don't have access to alot of my stuff and I'm stuck on my laptop with the shitty hotel internet access.
So I've definitely been in better moods then my general state is currently.

Back from AWA
General | Posted 18 years agoEnjoyed myself at the con as an early birthday gift for myself. (That being today, shockshocksurprise!) I got a few commissions from Fred, one from Maz, and one from a nice person I met there named Heather. I'm still in the 2002 commissions for what I've been posting, but I'll probably try and post the newer stuff here this week anyway. :D
I had to fiddle with my stupid cable box to get it working again. It likes to lock up for no good reason so I have to unplug it and plug it back in then wait for it to initialize. Sometimes it takes an hour for that to happen, which sucks in an area prone to power outages. Ah well... it's working now so I should be able to DVR the new episode of Heroes tonight. ^^v

Settling in
General | Posted 18 years agoWell, I've been in my apartment for over a week now, with my furniture finally having arrived a week later then they initially told me on the 9th. I've gone through 16 boxes with another 40 to go, but I need to decide on what type of bookshelves to get to store alot of it. I might finally bite the bullet and just throw away alot of the stuff I'd been hoping to sell that I didn't want to keep toting around with me.
Once I get more stuff set up, like my pictures and such, I'm planning to take some pics for my friends. I took one of my living room but I'm still arranging stuff so it'll be a bit different with time.
BTW... anyone done data entry work? I was thinking of taking an Excel class and looking for some part time work doing that, but unsure how 'secure' a job it is. Seems mostly temp work, which makes me wonder if you'd have to join a temp agency to get it or if you could 'freelance'.

Moving time
General | Posted 18 years agoWell, I'm nearly all packed up for my move to Florida. I had to pack up everything I plan to bring with me. The 'real' packers arrive tomorrow then the movers on Tuesday. Hope everyone has an enjoyable week while I'm driving down from Ohio to Florida. :)
WSoP!
General | Posted 18 years agoWell, I was planning a trip out to Vegas in a couple weeks, once I had my moving plans settled, but I hadn't really noticed that this is the month that the World Series of Poker is going on. I'm not tempted by any of the tournaments there, since I know I'm still no-where-near ready to try something of that nature, but I have to wonder to myself if it'd be a good time to play some of the lower limit cash games during that time, when there are more suckers in the area trying in vain to get what they need to enter, or if it'd be a bad time since there would be alot of good players who were passing some time playing in the lower limits so as not to endanger their bankroll before it's time to be used.
In other news, been playing with Photoshop to make another avatar pic from the DragenWulf piccy that's my feature submission. It'll be nice to have a couple to flip between. I need to find the Michael one
limeykat did for my LJ page and see if she's cool with me using it here also.

limeykat couldn't stand my old and very-much-recycled icon so I challenged her to make me a new one to use in it's place while I was on vacation last week. I think she had this one already finished before my plane even landed, but I only got it put up tonight :DHow do you...?
General | Posted 18 years agoWhen making an art submission, I've seen folks post links to other users on furaffinity using their icons. I wanted to do this with my submissions today for Runestar, to help lead folks over to her section here, but didn't see how I could do this. I'm sure it's probably some simple little code like they have on livejournal, but I don't recall how to do that either... >.>
So... someone reply to this journal and clue me in, please :D I didn't see it listed on the Help and Support page, mind you.

Back in town
General | Posted 18 years agoWell, the last week was pretty productive. I had to fly down to Florida to get some apartment hunting done. After that was complete, I used some some coupons for a 2 nights free stay at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa then a 3 nights free stay for the one down in Hollywood, FL. I only stayed down there 2 nights though, since I had to get back home, but with the extra night booked, it meant I didn't have to rush to check out by 11am, but could be lazy and wait until after noon XD
I plan to begin adding some more commissions this week. Whee.
