Art Fight Thoughts
Posted a month agoSince Art Fight is over, I kinda wanted to vomit my thoughts a bit haha. I mainly wanted to use Art Fight as a way to test my speed, since I 've been feeling very stagnant with my art lately, like I wasn't improving. This year I wasn't able to get as many attacks in like I did in 2021 (I only got 8 pieces out as opposed to like, the 20 I got out last time xD) BUT considering I was busy with work and other things this month (back in 2021 I'm pretty sure i had that entire month free lol) I don't think that's too bad? I also focused on making higher quality attacks rather than quantity, while still keeping within the same time limit I gave myself last time (less than 3-4 hours per piece, even got some animations out too!). So I'm happy with what I was able to get out in the short amount of time I had! :>
You can check out all of my Art Fight pieces and art I got here! https://artfight.net/~Seyumei (you'll need an account to view)
I ended up doing mostly revenges like last time haha. I did want to try attacking some artists I had admired for years first, but the childhood trauma of artists ignoring my giftart still haunts me to this day :'D so I opted to just giving back to people who did something nice for me in return. I also don't really like the AF culture of people only attacking popular/skilled artists in hopes to get clout/something back, so I didn't want that to affect my judgements at all.
Sadly I wasn't able to revenge everyone like I wanted to, but for those that I could, I mostly picked out characters that fit my vibes haha. I didn't realize how much "vibes" affected my speed and quality while drawing xD There were some characters I picked out to draw but I couldn't come up with a good idea or composition for them, and I ended up just giving up on the piece (if that was one of your characters, I'm sorry haha). But I figured the best I could do is just spill my love out for the pieces people did for me in the comments. xD
Even though I had fun overall and really enjoyed drawing for people without expectations or guidelines, unfortunately I think this is probably the last year I'll do Art Fight again. I feel like I've "outgrown" the community a bit (the vast majority of users seem to be on the younger side) so I just don't have the free time and speed anymore to keep up with the youngins xD Next year, I'm planning to go 💯 on the projects I've been planning for years, and I realized I should probably stop taking too many "side quests" if I ever want to get them done haha. If I crave art of my characters, I think I'll just stick to trading or commissioning like the old fashioned way (the art I'd ask for them would probably be against Art Fight TOS anyway LMAO😂) But still, I was really happy with all the the art I got! I used to get a lot of fanart back in the day, but nowadays it seems like no one draws fanart or giftart for anyone anymore without an ulterior motive (kinda understandable ngl), so seeing drawings of my boys from others made me feel very nostalgic. ;v;
But yeah, thats about all I wanted to say! Big thanks again to everyone who participated with me! :D

ONLINE STORE GRAND OPENING ON MY BIRTHDAYYY
Posted 4 months agoIn celebration of my birthday, I decided to finally open my Etsy store today!
There isn't a lot listed yet, but I'll be adding more merch in the store as time goes on. The store is also linked on my website: https://seyumei.com/ when you click on the "SHOP" tab.
Also, if I may, can I ask for a teeny birthday favor?👉👈PLEAAASE help me clear out my overstock haha: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4300800891/
These were all prints I made around 2014-2018 when I was still new to vending in person. I did a few small shows with them, then when I moved away from my hometown, I'm not sure what happened. I wanted to keep doing vending as a side thing, but I kinda lost motivation and stopped? So these prints have basically been sitting in my closet for like 7-8 years lol.
But since I recently started getting back into the con scene again, I don't feel comfortable selling them at shows anymore since they're not really a good reflection of my current skills. I also want to pivot to making more original content merch and less fanart. However, these prints are still very good quality, so I thought I would heavily discount all of them and give away a LOT of freebies/extras with them! The reason why I'm giving so much free stuff away is because I really want to make room for new stuff (which I'm running out of space for), so if you purchase a print, you're doing me a huge favor xD
I also have combo deals (some with new merch I made as well!) Feel free to check em out as well!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/4300823487/
https://www.etsy.com/listing/4300833731/
(if you want to see a particular print in detail, I still have most of them uploaded in my gallery. Just let me know!)
Some of you might also remember my Eeveelution charms from back then. I still have them! But I'm making an new set of them that have updated keyrings. These are the old sets that I'm retiring and discounting: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4300810304/
There is also Sky&Keith/Bromodachis/Incubus Price merch listed if you're interested as well xD I mostly made them for myself, but I have spare copies if anyone wants them just because haha (Fur-omodachi merch is also in the works lol).
I also have FREE shipping on orders over $35! (within the US) Most of my merch is pretty light and thin, so I can easily bundle them together in the same package. So feel free to shop around! There is international shipping available, I just don't recommend it because the price is so high, but its there if you don't mind the cost!
Thank you for looking! ^^ Each order will also have a smol personal thank you note from me too ;)

Gonna be at Furlandia! + Merch ideas?
Posted 5 months agoApparently I got approved for an artist alley table at Furlandia! (Furry con in Portland, Oregon) I'll only be vending on Friday (first day of the con) so if you live nearby and want to catch a rare glimpse of Seyumei in the wild, theres your chance. xD It'll be my first furry con and I'll (most likely) be by myself, and I literally won't know anyone there, so uhhhh, we'll see how it goes lol. If if turns out better than I expect, then I might do more! I'm only applying to local cons atm just to get back into the groove of selling in person (havent done it in like 7 years lol), but if they turn out well, then I might expand to more out of state ones!
Since I now have an excuse to make merch again, I'm also probably going to re-open my Etsy store! (possibly next month). The reason why I never sold any physical merch for a long time is because I always had trouble getting sales unless I was constantly advertising (guess people only wanted commissions from me xD). I was also struggling financially at the time so it wasn't worth investing so much on merch production if nothing was selling. But now that I'm more stable, it doesnt feel as risky to try again. I was also pleasantly surprised when people offered to buy some standees that I wasnt even planning to sell: https://www.tumblr.com/seyumei/7783.....d?source=share So it kinda inspired and gave me hope that people actually want physical things from me :'D
I'm mostly gonna have small things for sale at the con (like stickers, charms, mini prints ect) since my table isnt that big. And maybe trad commissions on site to fill in lull periods. Though I was gonna ask if there was anything in my gallery that would make good merch for a furry con? Always have a hard time deciding what people like lol. Most of my animal/anthro adjacent fanart is on the table but I'm kinda lost on original stuff. I dont think The Boys™ would sell unless they were animal/anthros. xD I was thinking of having some of my myth anthro designs made into standees but those can be expensive to produce. Maybe something else?

I give up
Posted 6 months agoSo now they're training AI to get rid of watermarks. Maaaan I dont even feel like posting art online anymore.
I'm really debating over never posting fanart again because of this, since thats usually the most common type of art that gets stolen and made into merch. I might just reserve showing fanart only at in person events or something.
Should I just like, only post original art now? And not even like general original art (that gets stolen often too), I mean like original characters and scenarios specific to me. I feel like thats the safest thing that I can post online now since it doesn't benefit thieves. Its also something I could technically copyright (like for real) since they're my own ideas.
I gotta say, seeing the absolute continuous decline of the online art community over the years is really... something.

Okay fiiiiiiine
Posted 10 months agoHeres my Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/seyumei.bsky.social
Its been pretty dormant for a while, and I wasnt really planning to use it, but since it seems like a lot of people are outright deleting their Xitter accounts (understandably), I thought I'd just try this site out too. I usually avoid making accounts on alt sites since they tend to fizzle out of steam in a few months time, but it seems like people actually use this?
I'll still be posting on Xitter actively as I do, since I dont want to lose connections there (or if something happens to Bluesky in the future). But I'll try to post on here too and see how long my retention can be retained xD In any case, you can always find me on my other socials listed here!: https://seyumei.com/
A common issue I always run into when making new accounts is that my art history and backlog is so large at this point that I dont even know where to start haha. Like what do I even post first? lol

Life Update
Posted 10 months agoHewwoooo~ So I know I haven't been very active or talkative online much recently, so I though I'd give a little update about whats currently going on in my life, thoughts about things and plans for the future. Don't really know if anyone out there really cares about this sorta stuff, but its here if you wanna read it!
WORK LIFE
You guys might have noticed my slowdown on posting art. Truth be told, I still draw a LOT every day, but I wanna say that 80% of what I draw now is mostly NDA work and work related art, so its not really stuff I can post in my gallery. I've also been decreasing my time at my work desk. I can't draw for 12 hours a day every day like I used to as a spry young lad. Right now I can only sit down for about 5 hours max until my body starts screaming at me to get up and exercise. The joys of aging right? But I also think it might be my terrible desk setup that might also be causing the pain (planning to replace my flimsy table and uncomfortable chair soon). But yeah these reasons are why I can only manage to maybe post one new thing a week or even biweekly now. I do want to go back to increasing the frequency though, so hopefully a new desk setup will help with that.
Sometimes people still ask me about commissions. Well, I believe I mentioned this in a past journal, but any free time I get from work, I honestly would rather work on my own art for my projects than take commissions. Once in a while, if theres a slowdown at work, I miiiiight be able to squeeze in a couple commissions here and there, but 95% of the time my price quotes tend to scare off people anyway lol. I charge the same as I do for my freelance rates, but I understand that it might seem "overpriced" for someone who is only looking for art of their OC or something. But what I do for work allows me to live comfortably, so I just don't feel compelled to take commissions anymore. Plus I've been so jaded from underselling and dealing with bad clients for so many years that commission work has kinda left a sour taste in my mouth, especially since I was overworking and barely making ends meet. Instead, I want to work on making art thats more "accessible" for people, like digital files and merch to buy. I just feel like its more rewarding to make something that multiple people can enjoy rather than drawing a specific thing for one person. This doesn't mean I'm done with commissions forever, but its more of like a "once in a very long while if someone comes up to me with an idea that aligns with my specific interests" kinda thing lol.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Oh yeah this.... So yeah, I think I've gotten to the point where I just absolutely cannot care about social media whatsoever. xD I've been updating and posting to my social medias regularly for like the past decade now, mainly to satiate the "algorithm overlords". Otherwise everyone will forget you exist, right? But now I just can't be fucked to do anything on there other than check/respond to messages, post maybe, then leave. I even have a Bluesky (site that everyone flocked to after Twitter fucked ppl over once again) that I just cant be bothered to post on either. Over the past 10 years, being social media savvy never really helped me make any new everlasting friendships or improve my art business, which is the only reason I kept maintaining it. Like hoping it would lead to something. But it literally hasn't grown in the past few years. Unless I bent over backwards and chased every trend to get the algorithm to favor me, I knew it wasn't going to grow. The more I dwelled on it, the worse I felt about myself, but eventually something in me just snapped and was like, why care? Numbers are completely valueless to me. What I do crave though is more meaningful feedback, but with the way social media is set up, that rarely ever happens, so it just seems pointless.
I still post to social media occasionally, but its only for those who still follow me on those sites that want to keep up with my art. I dunno, I feel like social media is just getting more useless and shittier for artists now (especially with rampant art theft/bots/AI everywhere). There are many other alternate avenues you can take if you want to join an art community or make connections with art peers.
IRL
Sooo.. another thing thats kinda been taking up a lot of my time has been, well, house hunting. xD I'm so tired of throwing money out the window from renting and just want to live somewhere that feels more permanent than temporary. Over the years I've managed to save up a hefty amount for a downpay from living frugal and I feel like I'm ready. I know buying a house in this day and age is terribly difficult, especially in the expensive ass West Coast US AND buying as a single person, but with how the market is, I feel like it'll be downright impossible later if I keep waiting (and if i had a nickel for every person who told me "you can live anywhere to do your job, just move to a cheap country and buy a mansion!", lemme just say its not that simple. |D). I dont even need anything fancy, just a cute, quiet little place so I can do my gay art in peace (and not worry about landlords/management being assholes).
I've also been touching grass and going out more often. I'm getting old now, so its just not healthy for me to be a homebody sitting all day on a computer. I used to be like that a few years ago and it took a toll on me mentally and physically. After changing my bad habits, I stopped feeling like shit all the time and now I feel happier and healthier. Another reason why I havent been online too much either haha.
The only thing I'm kinda missing in my life right now is.. a friend circle? I kinda have scattered acquaintances I talk to occasionally, but I feel like I don't really have "friends" to do stuff with anymore. Over time, I came to the realization that I am a very difficult person to make friends with. Whenever someone is too chummy with me, I keep thinking theres an ulterior motive behind it. I'm awful at keeping in touch with old friends (due to me thinking I'll 'annoy' them if I initiate contact first), so eventually we drift off. I'm also an "energy feeder", so if I talk to someone who is low energy or doesn't talk much (reoccuring problem with making artist friends tbh xD), I usually just dip out of the convo. I'm also extremely paranoid and don't trust easily. So I really blame myself for being so isolated and pushing people away from me. Deep down though, I do desire companionship and friends, but its hard for me to find people I click with. I kinda wonder if its a bit too late for me now to make new friends since it seems like everyone already has an established "circle" but I've kinda gotten used to the "lone wolf" life, so maybe its not so bad. Don't take it as me being completely closed off though, I'm always open to welcoming new people in my life (I just have a hard exterior to get through xD).
So if I can somehow achieve that, I feel like everything will finally feel... stable, and I can finally focus on my projects and other things I've wanted to do once this life hurdle is out of the way.
STUFF FOR THE FUTURE. DISCORD? STREAMING?
As for projects, right now I'm still working on writing The Incubus Prince, and I'm close to finishing Part 1! Eventually I'll make a cover for it and I'll try to see how I can upload it online to share (just gotta fix all my dyslexic writing errors xD). Theres currently 4 parts, but ironically the pictures I've been drawing are mostly for Part 4 haha (thats basically Sky's relationship arc with Keith lol, but Keith doesnt appear in the other parts). I also have lots of other projects in the works, many of which involve old characters that I want to bring back to life, but I kinda wanna see where I'll be in the future before committing to them. The Incubus Prince is the one I want to prioritize atm. I'm also still doing Goat Propaganda stuff, but that'll be an on and off thing when I'm feel like doing small scale things. xD
Truth be told, I've been doing most of my socialization on Discord nowadays. Its just easier to communicate with people when its just right there. I've been debating about making a Discord server for myself (I have Nitro, so i feel like i should put it to some use xD) so that people could communicate/keep up with me easier, but it seems like EVERY artist has a Discord server now and I don't really know what I'd be doing different. I kinda weighted the cons of having one too (server going dead socially, having to deal with drama/trolls in channels, ect) so I kinda backed out on the idea. I always felt awkward joining artist centric Discords myself, especially if its an artist I dont even follow or know. I feel more comfortable talking in one if its centered around a project I'm a part of or a topic I'm interested in. Unless you think maybe i should reconsider?
(Btw, pls dont send me unsolicited friend requests on Discord unless i agreed to it. I keep it closed off for reasons)
Also I've been considering streaming again! I havent streamed since... 2018? That was back when I was still using my Patreon and did streams on Picarto. During that time, I remember that I would stream Patreon reward sketches and usually the only people who would show up in the stream were people waiting for a sketch lol. I didn't really get any viewers outside of that, which is understandable since I was only drawing sketches for the bulk of my time. The routine was kind of the same for about a year, but the lack of growth discouraged me to keep continuing with it, so eventually I just stopped.
But since I've been growing more distant from the online community, I kinda want to rekindle that personal connection. I figure streams would probably be the best for that! Truth be told, I still do prefer drawing alone without the pressure of having to entertain an audience but it does get lonesome after doing it for many hours on your own. I've also found that I tend to be more focused if I know people are watching me draw, so that would help me from being distracted and wasting time haha. And sometimes I would like to have input from an audience while I'm drawing, especially when it comes to designing and brainstorming stuff.
If I stream again, I think I might switch over to Twitch since I feel like there's a better chance to grow an audience there. I do have a Twitch account (unfortunately someone took my username, so its https://www.twitch.tv/seyumeii instead) but its pretty much inactive since I only made it to comment on a friend's stream one time. Otherwise its a pretty new platform for me and I might need a bit to figure out how it works haha. Once I have things prepared and a schedule ready, I'll let you all know!
But yeah thats about all thats going on with me, in case you were curious at all!
🐐Need Goat Fanart Suggestions🐐
Posted 12 months agoI need more goats for goat propaganda. The lack of goat appreciation everywhere makes me sad. Therefore it is my duty to spread the love for goats and goat characters as much as I can, so I wanted to get more goat fanart suggestions. Originally I was gonna call this series "Goats in Media", but since October is coming around, perhaps "Goatober" works better? (Eventually, i'll probably just call it "Goat Propaganda" anyway lol)
You can suggest any character or species to me that is a goat or based off of a goat from any kind of media (show/game/series ect). You can also suggest as many as you like!
Here are some examples of goat characters I've drawn:
Sherb from Animal Crossing- https://www.furaffinity.net/view/40189008/ https://www.furaffinity.net/view/41097085/
Mei from Arashi no Yoru Ni - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37165498/
.... I thought I had more than this... ANYWAYS...
I can't guarantee that I'll draw everything that will be suggested (amount of detail may vary too), but I'll likely get to most of them! And don't worry if you're not sure whether I'm familiar with the media or not. If its a goat, I'll probably like it anyway and draw it regardless. These'll most likely be drawn as warmups during my downtimes.
🐐Some Rules!🐐
1. NO SHEEP/LAMB. 🚫🐑 I know they can look similar sometimes, but I'm specifically looking for goat based stuff.
2. No half human/half goats (like Satyrs). Mythical goats like demon goats (ie Baphomet) or sea goats (ie Capricorn) are fine though. I mainly want to draw things that are obviously a goat from the get go. I could change my mind on this later on though.
3. NO ORIGINAL CHARACTERS/SPECIES. All goats are lovely, but this is mainly for fanart suggestions, not a way to get free art. I'm only drawing goats from established media.
But yeah thats about it! Looking forward to drawing some goats haha
What would you like to see more from me?
Posted a year agoJust a bit curious! :> Mainly wanted to know about specific subjects, not really broad categories (like animation, commissions, fanart, ect).
Art Commissions: Tips for Artists and Clients
Posted a year agoAfter doing art commissions for over a decade now and semi-retiring from them recently, as well as buying my fair share of commissions, I thought I'd share some wisdom I've learned along my way through the art commission world. This is mainly a guide for artists who are trying to get into doing art commissions for the first time or clients who perhaps want to get into commissioning art for the first time. It outlines basic etiquette, common pitfalls, helpful tips and things to look out for, as well as ways to minimize bad experiences. I also touch on concerns with AI as well.
Since I wrote way too much to fit it into a regular journal, here it is in doc form!
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1D7-X1YHjE7fgnjpqwOWcVY0hpBZjto1AnGvV3-MYp9U/edit?usp=sharing
I added two sections for artists and clients, feel free to jump around to whichever one interests you the most. I tried to add as many points as I could, but if I happened to miss an important point, do let me know and I'll probably add it in!
But yeah feel free to share it around! Hopefully you guys find it helpful!

Convention Scene Help?
Posted a year agoI wanna start trying out the convention scene, like vending at anime and furry cons. I've done one or two small art shows in the past, but they were very niche/local and only lasted like 4-5 hours, so I barely sold anything xD Afterwards, I was kinda bummed out and didn't want to try again for many years. But now that I'm in a more comfortable spot financially and can produce more art that isnt commissioned based, I feel like trying it out again.
I've been to plenty of anime cons so I kinda know what sells there, but I've never stepped foot into a furry con, and tbh I have no idea what artists actually sell there. xD If you frequent them or vend there yourself, any pointers you'd like to share?

NEW WEBSITE DROPPED
Posted a year ago⭐SEYUMEI.COM⭐
I shoulda done this a long time ago, but I decided to take the plunge and finally make a semi-professional portfolio website for myself! During the advent of social media becoming increasingly shittier, it began to dawn on me of the importance of having your own space in case everything goes to heck in the future. I also just wanted a place where people can view my best work and get in contact with me easier.
I basically took my old Carrd site and upgraded/revamped it without the element limitations, with its own domain name and everything. I tried to design it so that everything is easy to find and read (hopefully xD). Since I dont take commissions that much anymore, I took it off the main tabs. There IS still a commission info page (its located in a small link within the "contact" tab) but it'll only be relevant when I have rare, random bouts of opening commissions. :'D
Its still not quite done yet (still want to add more pictures and setting up a shop) but it has pretty much everything important on it for now. As for the old Carrd site I had before, it still exists, but it'll have a redirect on the front page to the new site instead.
Im not the best at website design though, so if you have any pointers of how I could make it better, do let me know! :)
Drawing Tablet Recommendations?
Posted a year agoBecause I think I might have to replace my drawing tablet pretty soon. Its an old Wacom Cintiq 13in HD and has been my trusty sidekick for about... I wanna say almost decade or so now? It still works fine, but the wear its been accumulating over the years has been hard to ignore. I can see and feel the scratches on the surface of the tablet when I draw and it just doesn't feel good to work on anymore. Since its been starting to affect the way I work now, I think its best to just invest in a new one.
Since I'm sorta out of the loop of what the cool kidz use to draw these days, I thought I'd ask for some recommendations. Ideally, I just want something that kinda feels similar to my old one since its what I've been used to for so many years, just not as dinky haha. But since I know Wacom doesn't manufacture the 13HD model anymore, I don't know where to start. xD But heres a few other things that I'm looking for too!
- I'm not a huge fan of large display screens (like 24-27") for drawing. I remember using them in school and my arm would always get tired fast. The 13" one worked just fine for me, but I'm willing to go up to 16" and maybe 22". Though I'd prefer not to go smaller than 13".
- Some of the things I couldn't stand about my 13HD was the wacky cord setup and the flimsy stand (if you worked on one of these, you'll probably know what I mean xD) Once it got set up, it was fine, but it was definitely not on-the-go friendly. If I can avoid that nonsense and have something a bit more mobile, that would be great lol.
- I'm willing to spend more for a quality tablet since I'm gonna be working on it for a long time, so I don't have a set budget/price range. If you know a good quality one at a more affordable price range, thats great! But I also don't want to cheap out if it'll cause me issues down the line. So I'd prefer to get something completely new and not old/used/refurbished.
- Brand names don't matter to me as long as its reliable, solid tablet. I know Wacom is probably the most well known, but I'm willing to try other ones if you've had good experiences with them!
- No Ipads/Microsoft Surfaces. I just can't get used to drawing on them and I felt the work area to be a bit too small/cramped imo. I could consider one for casual on-the-go doodling one day, but ideally not for work-work, haha.
But yeah, feel free to share about your experiences with your drawing tablet or if you've heard good experiences with other models! Anything helps, thanks! :)

Update and Explanation (return of commissions?)
Posted 2 years agoJust because I've been a bit quiet lately and not posting as often as I used to, I thought I'd give an explanation about what's been going on with me during this whole year.
Well... I can honestly say that this year has been the absolute worst year of my entire life (currently, at least). After dealing with a bunch of BS during the end of last year, my life has basically just been nonstop drama. Dealing with emotional abuse, a broken family, sabotage, betrayal from people I thought I could trust. That's about all I can get into without mentioning all the gritty details. I never wanted to get involved in any of this and couldn't understand why this was all happening to me. So it basically spiraled me into a depression.
While dealing with all this, I've noticed my work and passion for drawing was slipping fast. What used to take me a few days to finish a drawing would now stretch out to 1-2 weeks. My love for making comics dwindled and it was hard for me to get myself to create anything more elaborate like I used to. I've sometimes found myself just starting at a blank canvas, or just watching YT videos for hours instead of being productive. I also found myself playing videogames WAYYYYY more often than I should. I guess I just wanted something to distract myself from all the BS. I think in the back of my head, I was just like, "what's the point?".
I finally had enough and decided to just get away from everyone. I moved away discreetly, and now I finally have a place of my own, where I'm hoping I can emotionally heal and rebuild what I lost. I feel much, much happier here, but... now I'm kinda broke lmao xD I have to rebuy a lot of necessities and I also have many more expenses to pay for, so I'm actually thinking about trying to do some commissions again to help subsidize the cost. Truth be told, after not taking commissions for a whole year or two, I started feeling a bit nostalgic for them haha. My only worry is that because I haven't done them in so long, I don't know if they can sell at the prices I used to set them at. But I'll try to do some test runs and see what happens. :')
During this ordeal, I learned a lot about the importance of trusting and relying on yourself, and that its okay to let go of family and people you used to love, especially if they're toxic. My hope is that my mental state will start improving after this, and that I can go back to being more social online and making art and animations as frequently as I used to. There's so much I wanted to do, but all this crap held me back from it for so long. But now that I'm finally free from it, I'm wishing for the best. :>

Goals and Resolutions
Posted 2 years agoIs it too late to be posting one of these new year resolution things? But anyhow, thought I'd just share a bit more about what I've been going through in my head, and my visions for the future. :)
Goals I did accomplish last year:
Did more original content than commission work
Half a year ago, I made the decision to "semi-retire" from taking commissions when I became more financially stable. I didn't do this because I disliked doing commissions, but I didn't want the majority of my gallery to just be a reflection of other's people's visions, which was what it was becoming. Instead, I wanted to build off an audience from a gallery that reflected my identity as an artist. So now I only really take certain commission projects if the idea was something I'd be personally invested in. I kinda did a lookover of what I did in 2022, and I noticed that a little over half of what I made was original stuff, which is great! :D Specifically, I've been really enjoying sharing comics of my OCs and I have plenty more shenanigans planned for the future. A part of me does miss commission work sometimes (I did enjoy seeing people happy when I drew stuff for them) but I don't want to do it the same way I did before. I wanna try to find more ways where I can mix doing what I love doing while also giving people more affordable options to get art from me if they'd like. Something like Nub Club comes to mind haha.
... yeah thats about all I accomplished last year. I'm not really good at these things. xD
This year I only really have three goals:
Going ham into animation
With the advent of AI art BS and more modern platforms becoming video oriented, I've been trying to find ways to adapt my art into the ever changing landscape. So lately I've been trying to work more on my animation skills and illustration has sorta become second priority to me. I still do use my illustration skills to paint backgrounds, get the lighting right in scenes and whatnot, but its longer going to be my main focus. That's not to say I'm gonna just be doing ALL animation from now on (I'd go crazy xD), but its something I want to focus on improving more than my drawing skills, which I feel has sorta reached a "peak" now haha.
I've been happy with my progress in animation so far since they've been doing very well on social media, but I feel like its not enough. Everytime I see animators doing like elaborate fight scenes and stuff, it really gets me inspired haha, but then when I look at my own stuff in comparison, well, it doesn't look bad, but it just looks so... simple? xD Although, I still want to keep my animated YCHs that way just so that they don't consume months of my life lol, but I do want to branch out and do more than just move them slightly, especially since I feel like animating has gotten a bit easier for me to do. I've been shooting more video references and I feel more confident to do more elaborate stuff. Another thing is that I want to do more animations with my original ideas. I sorta did that more this year (with the little goat Sky animations here and there xD) but the majority of my animations are still for others and I kinda want to flip that around.
I also want to try dabbling with Live2D (the program they use to make Vtubers lol). It just seems like another interesting animation program to learn. It probably won't replace the way I animate (still prefer frame by frame) and tbh, I wouldn't really know what else to make with it other than bobbing, talking heads xD But it doesn't seem very complicated program to learn, and its just something I wanted to add to my skillset :>
Start on an animated trailer for my series
This one sort of relates to the goal above, but when I mentioned making more original animations, this is more specifically what I wanted to do. As I've gotten older, I began to have the realization that... wow... I'm gonna die soon (yeah I know im probably overreacting since I'm still in my 20s lol). But I just really want to finish and get something out there before I feel like I run out of steam. Like leaving a legacy I guess. xD I know I still have Bromodachis, but thats more of just a casual fun comic I make sometimes, and I don't really have an end goal for it. But I really want to get The Incubus Prince off the ground since I already have the groundwork for it done, I just need to find the right medium. There is no way in heck I can make the story a comic or a full fledged animation (especially when I'm only doing this on my free time) so I figured that a 1-2 minute animated trailer that hits all the key points in the story would be good enough. This might take a few years to finish, but its something I'm currently really passionate about, so hopefully its feasible. Once the trailer is finished, I'm hoping it could lead to other opportunities down the line, or even if it doesn't, I'd just be happy to see it completed. xD
I often get people asking about the story with Plyso and the other characters surrounding him, and honestly, I really still want to do something with that story in the future. But the problem with it is that right now it has a very convoluted storyline and still needs a lot to be fixed before it can be a thing. The stories with Sky and Keith are just easier and simpler to work with, and I can actually see an end goal with them. I also just feel more passionate with them currently. But as for the other story, it just isn't a good time to invest a lot of resources into it right now. When a good time comes to resurrect it, I'll know, trust me. :')
Defeating this monster known as "Social Anxiety"
This is a thing that's been eating away at me since childhood and is most likely the main source of everything wrong in my life. And I've gotten to the point where I'm just so tired of this thing holding me back from everything and I finally want it gone for good.
Over the years, my severe social anxiety has caused me to lose friendships, potential relationships, career opportunities, and preventing me to move on with my life in general. It's basically the voice in your head that keeps saying "You're not good enough", "they'll hate you" or "you'll regret this". It has isolated me from everyone and in turn, has made more more lonely than I've ever been. At the same time, I've always blamed myself for my loneliness. I'm horrible at keeping up with old friends and people I used to talk to, because my stupid social anxiety keeps doubting my relationships with people. I keep thinking they'll hate me if I say something off or I'll be annoying if I talk too much, or that its too "awkward" to reach out to an old friend I haven't spoken to in years. So I completely understand why they just ghost or dont want to do anything with me anymore, even if I try to rekindle our relationship years later. At this point, I don't even know who is even a friend to me anymore or if I even have any friends left.
So I want to try to get out more and make more connections/friends. Maybe try volunteering and taking on a small non-art related jobs just so I can meet more people irl. Even online, I want to start doing more stuff with people. Maybe start streaming? I haven't played an MMO in years and was thinking of trying out FFXIV. I had an idea of a Viera character based off of this abomination of mine lol. Or maybe some character based off Sky or Keith, I don't know. xD
But I know the social anxiety isn't going to go away that quickly. In fact, its still holding me back right now. So it might take a while till I really fight off this thing for good. Just... be patient with me. :'D
Yeah, thats about all I wanted to get off my chest haha. :')

Artist Recommendations for Commissions?
Posted 3 years agoPlease read the whole journal to see what I'm looking for before commenting, thanks!
I have quite a bit saved up that I want to splurge on getting some art of my boys. :'D I havent commissioned anything in a really long time just due to the fact that its been really hard to find the right artist, and I really miss the experience.
I tried asking for something like this on Twitter, but I just got swarmed with bots and it just kinda ruined my art browsing experience so I wanted to start over here xD I also feel like artists are more legit here than elsewhere where I cant even tell if they're a real person or not lol.
These are the characters I'm looking to get art of (wowie i bet you'll never guess who):
Sky
Also his Goat Form🐐
Keith
Also his Dog Form🐕
Specifically, I'm looking for artists who specialize in drawing males/pretty boys (both humans or anthros) and possibly homoerotic content also haha.
I'm not interested in artists who:
- only take commissions through Patreon or similar subscription services
- have a super long work queue
- only do adoptables/design work
I'm mainly looking for artist recommendations from commissioners! You can recommend as many as you like, and even if the artist isn't open rn or not even on FA, I'd still love a recommendation anyway so I can keep tabs on them. If you are an artist you can recommend yourself, but I'm probably gonna be more partial to artists who have someone to put in a good word for them.
Thanks in advance!

DOs/DON'Ts with My Characters
Posted 3 years agoI'm honestly pretty open with what people want to do with my characters. Whether it be drawing giftart, writing fanfiction or adding them in a commission. Mainly because I'm too flattered that you like them enough to get uptight with it. xD But seeing what people have done with them over time, I decided to lay down some rules of what I prefer people not do with them, as some situations people have presented to me in the past have made me a bit uncomfy.
(These are mostly regarding NSFW/romantic situations. Most SFW ones are a-ok and don't need approval from me, you can even surprise me! Otherwise, I'd prefer if you'd let me know beforehand if your ideas fall into these categories)
FOR SKY AND KEITH SPECIFICALLY:
(All of these apply to any of the forms Sky and Keith are in)
YOU CAN:
Sky:
-Have him mingling with other characters (can be flirty, but nothing too intimate)
-Have him acting thotty around other characters (ex: wearing risque outfits together, teasing is okay, but no sexual activity with each other)
-Have him in NSFW situations, but if the situation becomes pornographic, preferably solo or with Keith only.
-Have him injured or in a traumatic situation, but nothing extremely violent
Keith:
-Have other characters mingle/flirt with him, but Keith generally never reciprocates (usually responds with disgust, anger or annoyance)
-Have him in NSFW situations, but preferably solo or with Sky only.
-Have him injured or in a traumatic situation, but nothing extremely violent
YOU CANNOT:
Both characters:
-Have them being sexual with anyone else except each other
-Have them participating in certain fetishes I dislike or have an aversion to (If you're unsure, just let me know what you had in mind. I won't judge lol)
-Have them being TOO out of character (ex: Keith being okay with Sky's open flirting) unless there's a reason for it or its played as a joke
-Have extreme violence towards them (ex: shooting, stabbing, cutting them up, extreme gore. Just makes me feel like you hate the characters for some reason xD)
-Portray them in any kind of political, hateful or discriminatory situation (why would you even do that anyway?)
ALL OTHER CHARACTERS:
All the ones here basically: https://toyhou.se/Seyumei/characters (more will be added later!)
I'm not as picky with them as my main two boys so feel free to go crazy if you want lol.
YOU CAN:
- Portray them in any SFW situation
- If you want to put any adult character in a NSFW situation, please talk to me about it first!
- If the character is a certified thot, you can have them flirting with your character if you want. (just know that they probably wont commit lol)
- Have them injured or in a traumatic situation, but nothing extremely violent
YOU CANNOT:
- Have them participating in certain fetishes I dislike or have an aversion to
- Have any minor (under 18) or feral/animal character in NSFW situations
- Have them with any other character in a romantic situation other than their specified significant other (excludes the thots)
- Have extreme violence towards them
- Portray them in any kind of political, hateful or discriminatory situation
If you're unsure about anything, feel free to ask!
ALSO ALSO! If I so happen to miss your art or haven't responded to it, please don't be afraid to poke me about it multiple times on multiple platforms. Sometimes I miss tags cause it can get drowned out quickly in my notification feed. I literally can't fathom the amount of guilt I feel when I JUST discover fanart like months later after it was done and I haven't said anything. Q_Q

Thanks for 10k Follows! 🎉
Posted 3 years agoJust realized I hit the milestone today haha. As someone who doesn't really make porn or fetish content much on this site, I consider it a decent accomplishment xD
Thank you for all your support over the years!💖

Question about my animations
Posted 3 years agoDoes me compressing my animated gifs ruin your enjoyment of looking at the animation? Is there a place where you'd prefer to look at them instead?
Just something I've been feeling kinda insecure about hah. Everytime I see my animations all crusty/static-y with the framerates and colors messed up, it looks like I'm looking at a videogame cutscene from the 90s or something :'D
I try to link my Twitter posts on every animation I have so you can see what the real quality actually looks like, but I know not everyone reads or clicks links.
I also post higher quality gifs on DA and video reels on Instagram, but I dont think a lot of FA people have that :'D
I really wish FA could have a video uploader or at least a higher file size limit (for higher quality gifs) but I know that might not be for another 10-20 years knowing this sites track record lol.

Semi-Retiring from Commissions
Posted 3 years agoSo ah.. this has sorta been a long time coming, and you've might've guessed by me opening coms less and less over the years...
But long story short, I've sorta found myself in a position where I dont need to take commissions anymore as supplementary income (which I've done on and off for almost a decade now). In the beginning, it was very fun, and I enjoyed making people happy with my art. Seeing clients light up when I showed them what I drew always made my day. But as time went on, I found it less and less rewarding for myself, even with price increases. Dealing with bad/nonchalant clients over the years slowly started killing my motivation/drive, and I felt like I wasnt getting anywhere career wise just doing one off commissions all the time. This is why I started doing them less and less, to a point where I can't bring myself to do them anymore unless its really worth it.
I still work in art of course, but I'm happy with where I am, and during any free time I can get... well, if I'm being honest, I would rather work on my webcomic and personal art in general, than anything else.
HOWEVER, I'm not going to stop them completely (hence "semi") as I still like to have variety in my life haha. But if I do want to do commissions again, it has to be something I'll be passionate in. So atm, I'll still make exceptions for these type of projects:
- Crossover commissions (your character with mine)
- Commissions involving my characters
- Fanart commissions of my favorite characters/species
- Commercial work for legitimate companies (this may be limited though, I'll let you know of my availability!)
- The occassional animated YCH auction
I honestly dont know when I'll return to taking regular commmissions again. I might even change my mind about this sometime down the line, as I've been feeling pretty bad/depressed about my art lately. So it may just be a matter of finding my spark/inspiration again. But for now, I dont know...
TL;DR: I'm burnt out guys, sorry...

Seeking Art Trades! CLOSED
Posted 3 years agoEdit: Made my choice, thanks!
I've decided to not join Art Fight this year, and tbh I'm probably not going to anymore for the forseeable future. The reason why is because I always felt kinda pressured and stressed to draw something back for everyone who attacked (drew for) me, and I always feel bad when I couldn't haha. And I simply just dont have time to draw for so many people anymore.
Instead, I'd like to just do an old fashioned art trade again! I also wanted to put my refs to some use haha.
This is the character I'm looking for get art of (oh man I bet you'll never guess who) :
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/20152915/
OR his goat form (recently updated too):
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26601845/
OR any of his other forms for that matter:
https://f2.toyhou.se/file/f2-toyhou.....jpg?1625690677
It'll just be him for now! I wanted to fix up Keith's (his BF) refs before I actually use them. Unless you REALLY really want to draw them together, I still have other refs for him you can use haha (i can draw two characters for you in exchange if you do)
I wont be doing animations for trading, sorry! Just illustration. Theres too many steps with animation that make it too complicated for a simple trade.
I'm also okay with NSFW ideas if you wanna go down that route.
What I look for:
- Art skill level is around mine or better
- Art style works for my character(s)
(ex: if your gallery is mainly feral animals, im unlikely to pick you since it wouldnt match)
- Consistent art productivity from your gallery
(ive been burned/flaked on many times during past ATs so i just wanna see if you seem reliable)
- Recommended but not required: You are familiar with Bromodachis (the comic he came from) and hopefully enjoyed it? :'D
Things to note:
- You do NOT need to be a mutual (or someone I follow) to be considered! I don't want to skip over someone just because I so happened to not see them before. I'll take a look at everyone who comments here.
- I normally do trades by WIP trading! (ex: you show me a sketch, i'll show you a sketch, then the flat colors, ect.) I feel like that sorta alleviates the anxiety of getting ghosted by your partner. Unless we've traded before, you will need to be the first one to show the first WIP (sorry I can't take chances).
- I used to not be concerned with time limits, but I'd like to at least get the trade finished within a few months? From experience, it seems like the longer the waiting goes on, the more likely the trade will never get started. Otherwise, I'm pretty patient and won't be a bother, but if there isn't any progress on your side for a long time, I'll probably just drop the trade.
- I'll have multiple prompts for you to choose from, so dont worry about me picking something too specific for you to draw :'D I'll also try to come up with something that I think you'd be more interested in based on the contents of your gallery.
- You dont need to send me art samples, browsing your gallery is easy enough for me, unless theres something you really want to show me.
- Because I've actually had people hesitate due to this, I just wanna clarify that I 1000% absolutely do not care about arbitrary things like popularity or how many numbers your art gets. Your skills, communication and your work ethic are whats most important to me.
If interested, let me know in a comment of:
- Which character(s) of yours that you'd like me to draw
(You dont need to send me a whole description, just the ref/design! i'd just like to see what I might be working with beforehand)
- Which form(s) you would like to draw Sky in
(Doesnt have to be on the main refs! Can be one of his other shapeshifts (ex: catboy, centaur, capricorn ect.) This'll help me narrow down ideas that I think you'll enjoy drawing. I also have no preferences for his forms. Sky is Sky in any form he takes haha)
- If you're comfortable communicating with Discord
(its just the easiest way for me to communicate and send files. I'll keep it strictly for trading/WIP sending, unless you actually want to chit chat haha. If not, we can keep it through notes here, but sometimes the reliability of this site is a bit shakey, or email if you'd like)
I'll send a note if i find you a good match! I'll let comments come in for about 3 days and I'll make my decision from there. Thanks!
Birth
Posted 3 years agoToday is my birthday, and all I would love on my birthday is for you to read my webcomic:
https://tapas.io/series/Bromodachis

Maybe share it to a friend who might like... whatever this is lol.
Thats all, thank you!
Animation Collabs? Is this possible?
Posted 3 years agoSo, I love doing animations. But the problem is they take SO LONG to finish. Sometimes I really feel like giving a part of the work to someone else (and giving part of the profit).
I know there aren't a lot of animators on here. And the few that I'm aware of seem to be busy with their own things (and probably dont wanna talk to me lol). Originally I thought someone with little to no animation experience could at least line/flat color the animation (basically just tracing over my sketches), but I feel like things would get complicated if they also had to track patterns on the flat coloring (like a pattern on fur or clothes), as well as keeping the linework consistent (yes this actually affects the animation if not done right :'D).
I'd probably feel more comfy with a partner who was experienced in animating, but I really dont know any haha. (they'd also need to be familiar with Clip Studio EX's animation interface, thats all I use to make my animations haha)
I'm not currently looking to do a collab atm, but its something I might consider in the future. Do you how you might go about doing something like this? Or does this seem like a bit too much trouble and I should just stick to going solo?

AMA?
Posted 3 years agoI feel like I need to talk to more people on here xD
Feel free to ask me anything! Can be stuff like art tips, OC questions, my favorite things, ect, ect.
I'll also try to hide/delete questions that I feel are too creepy, political or personal (don't take it personally if I do though!) But I'm open to answering most things I'd say!
(also, I can answer questions via dm/notes if you prefer to ask privately!)
(btw: theres no limit on asking questions haha, feel free to ask anytime!)

Bam.
Posted 3 years agoI moved all of my porn into my scraps folder lol.
I mainly only moved the ones with the red borders, since i didnt find most of the blue bordered ones heinous enough to hide xD But the reason why I decided to do this is because I didnt want it to clash with my SFW stuff too much. I really don't want to bother making a second account here just for NSFW stuff, so this is the best alternative I can think of to separate it :'D
But yeah, from now on, all of my future porn/hard NSFW stuff will go into my scraps instead. So uh, if you wanna go looking for that, now you know where it is. x'D
Its funny, while I was moving them over I couldnt help but notice they seemed to have triple or quadruple my average upload views. Then again, this IS Furaffinity, so can't say I'm surprised lmao.
