Dog Jornal
General | Posted 2 months agoHello everyone! I've had a problem. My dog, Bamsi, is in intensive care. She's 13 years old and has chronic digestive issues, so I didn't immediately recognize the deterioration (due to her age, she sleeps a lot and has always had a poor appetite).
Recent events:
February 19, 2026 - temperature 34 (normal 38), weakness, refusal to eat, nausea. Ultrasound shows gastric fermentation and frozen peristalsis. Creatinine 271 (normal 44-138), urea 59 (normal 3-9), essentially indicating severe intoxication.
After gastric lavage and first aid, her temperature rose to 37, but she refused food and water.
https://link.vetmanager.ru/medcards.....c61676e185edc8 link blood counts
February 20, 2026 - hospital stay extended for another day. Creatinine levels have risen to 300, but the dog is still peeing and drinking. She's being force-fed. We're waiting for the evening news from the hospital.
There's still hope; creatinine levels of 1000+ are considered the point of no return.
UpDate - The dog manages her temperature, blood pressure, and glucose levels on her own. She doesn't want to eat on her own, they force her to eat. She's started resisting the vet (she really dislikes ultrasounds), which I consider a positive development. She's getting a creatinine test tomorrow morning.
February 21, 2026
https://link.vetmanager.ru/medcards.....f2239de9cdc87a new blood results Creatinine 169 (normal 44-138), urea 28(normal 3-9)
Bamsi is still refusing to eat. I brought her some medicated canned dog food and dry food (we'll offer it soaked) in hopes she'll show interest in the canned food.
Her temperature is starting to drop without a heating pad; unfortunately, there was temporary relief yesterday (this is common in dogs with intoxication). The clinic won't release her until her condition is stabilized.
Update! Bamsi has started getting off the heating pad on her own; her temperature is 35-37°C. She ate cat food (she didn't eat her own, but she was interested). The vets have started letting her out of her crate for short walks (oh my god, she's walking!) Tomorrow my mom and I will visit her with all sorts of tempting meaty bits (kidneys, liver, chicken hearts...you know, all that stuff dogs love. The goal is to stimulate her to eat).
February 22, 2026
Her blood counts are much better! Her creatinine levels are back to normal. And she ate dog food this morning! And she walked around the clinic with interest.
update! https://x.com/Dragon_Asis/status/20.....35144669360528 good news !
February 23, 2026
Just when I was getting excited, her discharge is being postponed. Her potassium and hematocrit levels have dropped (due to the IVs), but the good news is she's eating well and feels better than yesterday. So we're waiting for the evening call; the discharge decision depends on that.
February 24, 2026
The dog will be released at 6 PM for home observation. Checkup on Thursday.
The hematocrit is low (no transfusion needed, but if it drops further, we'll have to find a donor). But otherwise, the tests are good, she's eating and finally pooped.
February 25, 2026
The dog spent most of the day in bed, but had a good meal of steamed turkey and came downstairs while I was cleaning to meet my mom. She's still feeling a bit under the weather, but I think she's feeling better (and she also had two nice poops, which means her bowels are working!)
February 26, 2026
I just got home. Unfortunately, the dog needed a blood transfusion. Her hematocrit was 12. I went to the lab for donor blood and a compatibility test (it took three hours!), and luckily, the blood was a match! We're expecting news from the hospital tomorrow.
February 27, 2026
Bamsi is home again; she tolerated the blood transfusion well and looks much better. She has a good appetite (she's finally started eating the unappetizing canned food, which means the prednisolone is working as intended). Tomorrow she's home under my care, and on Sunday she'll have another checkup. I hope she won't need any more transfusions...
I'll update the document folder as soon as I have the strength; this episode has exhausted me.
P.S. Thank you so much to everyone who responded and ordered the commissions!
Mar 1, 2026
Good news, we're waiting for blood tests to adjust her medications, but for now, Bamsi has officially been declared "out of danger."
Mar 3, 2026
We're all fine, the next visit to the doctor is in three weeks, and today we finished the painful injections.
Mar 20, 2026
We've passed the checkup!
"Bamsi is doing well!"
The dog's blood tests are good (for her age), she's slightly anemic (but that will improve with weight gain), and she's gained 300 grams! (For her size, that's a good result). The next checkup is in three months, but so far, everything is officially fine (except for my wallet, hahahaha. Oh my god, I still can't believe everything is fine).
April 11
A sudden deterioration. The dog wasn't pooping and was vomiting.
The ultrasound showed significantly reduced gastric motility. However, there are no signs of intestinal inflammation (which is good), and the test results are quite good. I kept Bamsi at the vet clinic until the evening (thankfully, no intensive care was needed).
April 13
Luckily, this is a minor deterioration. Bamsi will have to undergo additional therapy and return to the old prednisone dosage, but she's already fine and gave me a huge pile of shit (sorry, it was a poop apocalypse. But it's a good sign after her bowel movements stopped working).
Since the veterinary bills are very high, I'm taking on any coms! Please help my girl live a few more dog years!

General | Posted 6 months agoHey everyone, I'm having some confusion with the site. I always use the server time at the bottom of the site (since it's supposed to be the same for everyone, right?), but I noticed the date and time in the comments are different from the ones at the bottom of the site, which wasn't the case before. Is this a change in the settings?

General | Posted 2 years agoThanks to everyone who supported me in the previous magazine. I would like to answer everyone, but after trying to answer one person, I realized that I was starting to cry again. (sorry)
Now I am more or less stable and therefore I can make an extended post.
Because it will probably be right?
So many people supported me all this time, and to my regret I did not always respond (due to language and the fact that I was overwhelmed) I really am very grateful to you all for your support! This was important to me.
I'm glad I had the time. As long as I went to veterinary clinics and spent time with Tosha, I was able to go through all the phases of accepting the inevitable. I managed to meet many people on the Internet and in reality who went through feline viral leukemia in their pets and lost their pets or continue to fight this disease.
It is no one's fault that my boy got this disease from his mother. And I can’t blame the elderly woman from whom I took him into my house; I don’t think she even knew that cats have such diseases.
The last week was just... like a bad dream, we fed him what he likes and monitored his behavior.
The farewell was calm, he just fell asleep and didn’t wake up, there were no seizures or anything like that (I saw this during the euthanasia of a rabbit), I was with him until the very end.
Tosha will forever remain in my heart, his stupid playful bites, the scar on my hand, the demanding meow when I crumple receipts from the store (God cat, why is this your favorite toy?) The way he sleeps on the roof of the shipshilla cage in a basket. And how he builds pyramids from filler in a pot. How he sleeps on my tablet, not allowing me to draw, and lies on the window asking to scratch his striped belly. And how Tosha for some reason dug into flower pots in order to dig up bulbs.
take care and thanks again.
