Where to find me
Posted 9 years agoWhile I don't really contribute to this site art-wise, except in the form of posting commissions I get, the past few days have definitely changed my opinions on the future of this site. So, here is where you can find me:

Con Schedule 2016 + Updates
Posted 9 years agoJust so I get rid of my last journal on here, here's a small update of my con schedule this year, as well as other updates in my life. First, the schedule!
TFF: Can't make it this year. :( The timing of the con this year doesn't match up with me financially, unfortunately. Maybe next year will be better.
Wild Nights: Currently planning on being there this year, since I missed it last year and I need a breather from life and my job and any overall stress.
MFF: Currently planning on being there and might even take the same mode of transportation there as I did last year. For all unaware, I took Amtrak to MFF last year, and despite the 5 hour delay I had getting there, I enjoyed the trip. :)
Other Cons: Might try to hit up RMFC, since it's so close to me (~8 hours west). I say might as it happens before I get a refresh on my vacation time at work, so it's currently up in the air.
Now onto the updates!
Life has been on the busy side, mostly with work. I still manage to make it home to visit the parents occasionally, and quite often am out of town, going to the nearest major city to either go to the furmeets there or to visit friends.
Since October, I've been living in an apartment that is much nicer than the one I was living at when I moved here. Why you might ask? Well, the change in ownership of the place and the lack of care taken for it (as well as a rent raise!) were the primary reasons. Had an issue with the neighbors? The new owners went "Oh well." Needed something in the apartment fixed, like the A/C unit in the summer? "You'll be waiting a week." So, just not a good situation. New place is sooooo much better and cheaper even!
Other news is that my video production methods have changed a bit for my YouTube channel. For the longest time (about 3-4 years), I've been using Sony Vegas to do my editing. As of this year, that changed to Adobe Premiere Pro. The primary reason is because I changed video cards in my computer to a better, newer one, but apparently Vegas only supports a certain generation of cards. And given the primary software hasn't updated for about 2 years, I figured I'd better switch to something different.
Well, that's it for now. Later! :D

2014 Year in Review
Posted 11 years ago2014 Year in Review
So another year has come to an end. Let's take a look at what happened over the course of the year!
February - Went to Texas Furry Fiesta for the first time ever and LOVED it! It is, thus far, the best con I've ever been to. Gonna take a lot to beat it.
April - This was an interesting month, in 2 ways. 1st, I went to Wild Nights for the 2nd year in a row and brought some friends along. We all had a great time! 2nd, it was a turning point in my relationship with my job. I got written up upon returning from Wild Nights because I wasn't back by 8 AM. I had let them know that I was going to be late due to playing it safe and staying the night with my friends instead of driving back tired from the trip at night. My loyalty was called into question and I decided enough was enough and starting hitting the job market hard.
June - I got my first contact with a potential job that I had applied to. Had a phone interview despite not even completing the application. Later in the month, I got a 2nd phone interview with the same company and they set up a face-to-face interview for the following month.
July - Parents came to visit over the weekend of the 4th and I took them up to Minneapolis. Visited the SPAM Museum in Austin, MN, and in general drove around the area. On July 18th, I had my face-to-face interview and it went extremely well, especially after learning what kind of company it was. This month was also the start of the annual work to be done at the school that my work had contracted out with. This was for their computers, including upgrading some of them. I also received notice of something that happened nearly 4 years prior (not able to go into details on it, sorry!).
August - On my brother's birthday (the 1st) I got offered the job I had interviewed with in June and July. The level of joy and relief I cannot be described with words alone. I took the job and started the moving process. I turned in my 2 weeks notice to my employer and something that surprised me is they didn't even try to offer me something to keep me around. The entire month was chaos. Finding a new place was the hardest of them all, mostly due to the town I was moving to being in a bad housing market. But I managed to find something and sign the lease. On the 22nd, after fighting a cough for the past couple of weeks, I went to the doctor office (still had previous insurance) and discovered that I had "Walking Pneumonia." That was fun (HA!). My parents came up and helped me move to my new apartment, which was also on the 22nd. On the 25th, feeling well enough from the shots a few days prior, I started my first day of work.
September - Not much happened here, except for getting my first paycheck. x3
October - This is normally the month that I would say that I went to Oklacon, but for the first time, I didn't go. Didn't have fun last year and felt a bit burnt out, so thought it best to skip this year. Turns out, I shouldn't have skipped it. xD
November - I got to experience what the company is like the day after Thanksgiving. It's dead. Like I was literally the only person there. I did get a nice bonus from my boss, in the form PTO to attend MFF without worries of not having any money at the next paycheck.
December - This month was a very challenging month for me. Went to Midwest Furfest for the 3rd year in a row and the as my previous journal points out, on Thursday evening of the con, I lost my grandmother. I can tell now that it affected my overall con experience, especially with the idea that I would be missing the funeral. This was also the 2nd time in a row that I couldn't afford to go home for Christmas. As for MFF, it was lots of fun once again!
My goals for 2015 are as follows:
-Actually start losing weight and exercising more. Seriously. There's a gym a couple of blocks from me, so I have no excuse.
-Start drawing again. I stopped several years ago due to not being able to handle criticisms. Need to pick it up again.
-I would love to learn a new language. I'm half Swedish and half German, so I'd love to learn one of those.
-I would like to continue tearing down the walls of my social anxiety. I started to make some real progress at MFF this year, with me not hesitating to start talking with new people.
-A general goal is to further develop my love for video and editing. What's started as a hobby has quickly turned into the desire to turn it into job. Over the past 3 years, I have learned so much, mostly due to influences from Moot, Kiba Wolf, BBF, and others.
Thanks to all my friends, new and old, that have been there for me during the year, thru all my up and downs. <3 <3 <3

And... she's gone
Posted 11 years agoThat title was part of a tweet that I sent out Thursday night, a few hours after arriving at MFF. It all started with a text message that I received from my mom at 3:09 PM:
Fyi dad headed to dodge city. Grandma passed out & heart stopped. He's not sure what's going on. Will let you know as soon as I do. Love you!
This was not a great message to receive, especially since we had only learned a few weeks earlier that she has lung cancer. Still, I hoped for the best. After getting my stuff unloaded from my friend's car and into the hotel room, I received 2 more text messages at 5:34 PM:
Grandma's not well. She's on a ventilator & very low blood pressure. She's not conscious. Dad & linda waiting on greg & steve to get there to make a decision. She's pretty tough. Will keep you posted. Sorry guys it's such sad news.
(Note: Linda is my aunt, Steve & Greg are my uncles.)
At this point, I felt it was necessary to call my mom and try to find out more information. Tears were running at this point, although lightly. The news was not good. My mom asked how I would like to kept informed on further information, with which I responded via phone call. At just a little after 7 PM, I got a call from mom, but couldn't answer it in time, so I called her back. All I heard were tears followed with "Grandma's gone." The tears came and didn't stop for at least 30 minutes to an hour. After getting a moment of calm before tearing up again, I sent out the following Twitter message to let my friends know:
And... she's gone. Goodbye grandma. I'll miss you.
Friday came and I found out that the funeral was Monday @ 2 PM back in Kansas, which then caused me to panic as the con would have to be cut short not just for me, but for my friend that I rode with. I was now having to make a decision on whether to go home for the funeral and cut the con short or not. Needless to say, it was stressing me out. Later on Friday, I got a call from my dad, who told me to just enjoy the con and not worry about coming home, as everyone understood that I was away being with friends. At this time, I did speak to my dad and asked about what happened, since he was there.
The simple version is that my grandma was (I believe) in the bathroom, when she yelled out and fell to the floor. The caregiver that was there called 911 and she was rushed to the nearest hospital (30 miles). According to dad, they had difficulty bringing her back to life and when they did, she was put on a ventilator. They wanted to wait until everyone could get there to make a decision. My dad even mentioned they ran a CAT scan and found very little brain activity. After everyone arrived, they pulled the ventilator and about 30 minutes later, she passed away. She was 79.
As for the cause, no idea. It's possible it could have been a heart attack or stroke or maybe something related to the cancer. It's hard to say exactly. I will say that despite being (and still) shaken up over everything, I have to personally thank all my friends that came up to me when I saw them and gave me a hug. You people alone helped turn my weekend around. So I thank all of you. <3

New Chapter in My Life + Health Update
Posted 11 years agoMonday, August 25th (tomorrow), begins a new chapter in my life. I will start a new job in a new town. As I type this, I've already moved to the new town, which is still located in the same state, but is more centrally located. The company is of a corporate nature, which is what I was wanting to move to. I was tired of retail. I am also moving to salary from hourly, which will be an interesting change.
The only thing that will mar this new chapter is this sickness that I picked up some time ago. About 2 weeks ago, it all started with a sore throat and cough, which made me think it was nothing more than a cold. Well, last week, my sore throat went away, but the coughing got worse. In the midst of moving, and while I still had insurance, this past Friday I went to the doctor's office. After a chest X-Ray and blood test, it turned out I had contracted "Walking Pneumonia," which is a milder form of regular pneumonia. Mild enough that most people don't know they have it as the symptoms are very much like a cold or the flu. And the incubation period is 15-25 days, so who knows where I got it. The good news is I have been given medicine to help with it, but it had me on edge, especially since the new job starts tomorrow.
Anyway, wish me luck!

A Chapter in My Life Will Soon Close
Posted 11 years agoFor nearly the past 6 years, I've been doing work at a small, rural ISP in northeast Nebraska. While my time here has been rewarding and I've learned a lot, it has also taken a toll on my health and sanity. For the past 2 years, I've been searching for a new job to get me away from here. Several things prompted this. One being that as of right now, our company has been thru 4 IT admins. Another reason is due to a constant threat to close the company if we don't make enough money. Another being distance issues from home (10+ hours) or being able to afford going home. And within those 2 years of searching, the furthest I ever got was just an interview. Nothing else.
Well, after having 2 phone interviews in June and one in person interview in July, on July 31st, I was offered a job with a company that would end up being only 6 hours from home. And I would be moving from a town of 1,600 to a city of about 50k. The time with my current company will end this Friday, August 15th. I'll be moving out and to the new place the weekend of the 22nd with my new job starting the 25th. It's corporate, yet a family owned business. I'm excited to start this new chapter in my life. Wish me luck!

Wild Nights Review
Posted 12 years agoJust watch the video below to get an idea on how awesome and random Wild Nights was. :)
Need to identify someone. Please help!
Posted 13 years agoAs most of you know, I got the chance last year to go to Midwest Furfest. It was fun and I got a lot of video, as my YouTube Channel would suggest. However, there is still a lot of video left to be uploaded. Some of which is the Variety Show. This is where I need some help. I need to know who this is (for credit purposes): http://twitpic.com/bpfddg/full . If someone could help me identify who this is, I would extremely grateful. Thanks!

Posted 13 years agoOklacon was...
Posted 13 years agoDamn awesome! I literally got home less than an hour ago, but nevertheless, I am in the process of checking the footage I captured over the weekend (15+ hrs worth!). I will have a ton editing ahead of me, but the Variety Show should be some of the first to go live this week (hopefully)! I will post more when able! :D

Enjoy! :D
Today, I will move on
Posted 13 years agoJust as the title says, today, I will move on the past. While listening to VNV Nation's "Resolution", I had a sudden rush of emotions cloud over me, as if to remind me of my state of mind. After a few seconds, I told myself "No more! This stops now!" I screamed that inside my head and with that, all the emotions from the past left me! I am reiterating to myself that what has happened in the past cannot be changed, but only learned from. That is what I am now doing. From this day forward, I am taking control of my life and my future to make damn sure it's not filled with the negativity of my past.
Here is the song that helped me out today:

Stress Break
Posted 13 years agoI'm taking a break from Twitter and probably FA for a couple of days as I try to get a handle on all this stress I've been dealing with for the past several weeks. I did something last night that I have since regretted and it was a direct result of this stress. I'll see you all later.
Kirby the Chigi [YouTube]
Posted 13 years agoI just realized that I should show you all my parents' silly, yet lovable dog, Kirby. Kirby is what is known as a Chigi, which is a Corgi/Chihuahua Mix. I got the following video when I visited my parents last month:
Enjoy! :)
Enjoy! :)

Something for a friend of mine. :)
Posted 13 years agoOn March 10, 2012, my friend
harvestthehusky offered me the chance to film him and his friend, Shadow Wolf, riding their motorcycles out at his farm. I accepted the offer and this is the result. This was heavily edited to remove the uninteresting bits. Music from "The Queenstons" was also added to make help eliminate the wind that was unfortunately recorded. Enjoy! :3

Anthrocon
Posted 14 years agoI am finally attending Anthroncon this year! Wonderful way to celebrate my 11th year as a furry! I will be arriving on Thursday afternoon and will be going by the name Ty Husky, mostly due to my fursuit being of my husky. So if you are going, see you there!
2010 In Review
Posted 15 years agoI'll keep my points short for major events that happened over the course of this year.
1. January: Hit a deer with my (at the time) new car, while traveling home from Sioux City, IA. I remember that I hadn't even made the first payment on it yet.
2. April: Prepared for and made the move to Windows 7. As part of the migration, I got a new graphics card and 2 new hard drives for storing my data. 500 GB for the boot drive and 1 TB for all my media.
3. May: 2 things - (1) Got to participate in a furry bowling meet in Omaha, NE. That was interesting to take part in. And it was broadcasted on one of Omaha's news stations. And I did spot myself in the video. :) (2) Watched my brother graduate from High School. It was a tearful experience and one that I will never forget. I will continue to cheer him on as he studies for Broadcasting in college at West Texas A&M.
4. June: I celebrated my 10 years as a furry. Ten years ago, I discovered the fandom by accident when I was searching for fanart of the show Road Rovers.
5. July: Witnessed my Grandma getting remarried over the 4th of July weekend. That was an interesting experience. Kinda weird to see your own grandmother get remarried...
6: August: This was a life-changing month for me and it started with a bang...literally. On August 1st, as I was on my way to see a celebrity in Yankton, SD, I was involved in a car wreck. My new car was completely totaled. The front end was smashed and made about 3 ft shorter. I am, to this day, thankful that I am alive. If one detail had been missed, I would have been dead, due to the nature of the impact. Later in the month, I was somewhat given a new vehicle by my other Grandpa.
7: September: I drove all the way to the Kansas State Fair just to experience it again. On my way back, my parents called and informed me that my cat, Odie, had passed away. It was a very tearful experience, yet I knew it was coming. She was so weak and frail from the last time I saw here. At least she passed away peacefully.
8: October: 2 things happened this month - (1) My friend
harvestthehusky moved away down to be with his girlfriend,
amesherla , in Oklahoma. That was another life-changing experience. (2) - I went to my 3rd furry con, which was Oklacon in Watonga, Oklahoma. It was a blast, despite some drama that occurred. It was also my first con to attend with a partial fursuit, which made it an enjoyable experience.
9. November: 2 things - (1) As if having one car wreck was bad enough, I learned from my parents that my brother was involved with a wreck. Just what our family needed. (2) I took my friend
graystone down to meet my parents and see where I came from. Plus it was nice to have someone with me while I drove down. It helped keep me awake.
10. December: Biggest thing that occurred this month was going home for Christmas, and being able to miss a winter storm that was approaching. I got a couple things that I wanted for Christmas (a printer, money, and WTAMU spirit stuff).
As you can see, several things happened to me this past year. Some things good, some things bad. A few life-changing events also happened. One thing that I didn't mention in any of the points was how much my taste in music evolved this year. I rediscovered my love for Synthpop and Industrial music, as well as continued to discover more music in the Dance/Club genre. Perhaps the biggest thing that started to happen to me is the potential change for a new career. I currently do computer work and I don't love doing it anymore. My interests in photography and video have started to bloom, enough that I want that as my career. I'll see what the future holds in 2011 and beyond.

Check this band out!
Posted 15 years agoI don't normally do these kind of posts, but I wanted to get one of my favorite bands some more recognition. The band is called Wideband Network and I have loved their music from ever since I first heard it. They are kind of a Synthpop/Electronica band. They are made up of 2 guys, who live in 2 completely different cities. Casey "3PM" Clark is from Toledo, Ohio, and Caesar Filori is from Seattle, Washington. Despite this distance, they manage to create some remarkable music that has a great beat. Their song "Armageddon" is in the game DJ Max Portable 3 on the PSP and the Playstation Network. Some of their songs have been featured on the station OutQ on Sirius Satellite Radio. Here is a music video that they did of their song "Attention":
Seriously, just check this band out. Their website is www.thewideband.net. You can purchase their music on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Zune, Rhapsody, etc. If you get it from the website, you have the option of downloading in FLAC instead of MP3. Please note, that the abulm "Ten Thousand Seconds" is in an incorrect order everywhere except for the website. I noticed this issue and brought it to their attention, and quite literally, 3 minutes later they responded saying that they were aware of it.
Just as a disclaimer, I did not get paid by the band or record label to post this. I'm just a loyal fan that wants their music to be heard by all. :3
Here is some interesting information about the video (obtained from the record company's YouTube page for this video) :
Video was shot using the FLIP MinoHD Camera
Budget: $0
Filmed on location in both Seattle, WA, and Toledo, OH
Edited using Sony Vegas and Adobe After Effects
