If you're a MAGA fur, unfollow me.
Posted 7 months agoI've found out recently a few fur artists who I enjoyed are hardcore MAGA, or associate with MAGA furs with no pushback. They've been blocked. I don't want to know anything about them ever again.
I rartely make journals. Last one was 4 years ago. I feel this is something I want to make clear for my page, despite rarely updating it.
I am an asexual, specifically aegosexual, person. I'm part of the LGBT community. I love the LGBT community and have made some really cool friends within it.
Trump is anathema to everything I believe and hope for in this world. If you support Trump, if you agree with his policies, if you think he's a net positive to the world despite literally this first week of him in office...unfollow me. Leave. I don't want you around.
I've seen a lot more MAGA furs here than I expected I would, which is concerning. If you let one Nazi into the bar, before long you have a Nazi bar. And I don't want to see that happen to this place. We should not allow ourselves to be infiltrated by Nazis and facists only to be forced out and persecuted afterwards.
I hope that makes my position clear.
I want to be as safe a place for LGBTQIA+ people as I can. I've stumbled a few times, growing up in the UK in the 80s and 90s will do that to a person, but I'm always trying my best.
Love y'all.

I got suspended
Posted 5 years agoI recently got suspended by FA.
I've been on this site since close to its creation. I've never been suspended the entire time I've been here. The image in question was numbered in the tens of thousands, it was that old. The upload would have been in 2006, but the sate stamp on it was 2003 when I actually made it.
I was given a week-long suspension which has only just been lifted prematurely due to the good standing of my account. I was also given a final warning, a further infringement would result in a permaban. I'm not sure if my final warning status still stands.
I wasn't particularly happy with being given the harsest possible sentence for what was honestly the least important image in my gallery. Literally the first image I uploaded and all the history that contains for my colouring career. The comments, faves and the milestone it represents are all gone.
Asking around, it seems a number of other people were also recently suspended and there was one thing in common with all of us. They were all pictures of Tails. The picture that was removed was literally the only picture of Tails in my entire gallery. This got searched for, this wasn't stumbled upon. I doubt anyone casually bumped into that 17 year old image.
So where does this leave me? The way I see it I have two choices.
1) Take my chances and hope the rest of my gallery is within the rules the next time a witch hunt occurs. But this runs the risk that the next time a sweep happens, I lose access to this site permanently.
2) Purge my entire gallery so I cannot get banned and just use this place as a way of seeing the art of people I like following.
I'm 30% leaning towards 1 and 70% leaning towards 2.
I'm currently moving house and my current plan was to get moved, get sorted out and settled in and then start up colour work again. Now I feel less inclined to do so. Now I don't see the point if the site that had been supporting my art work for 14 years is willing to turn on me this quickly.
TL;DR - The oldest pic in my gallery got me suspended. If you have Tails erotica in your gallery, delete it. Don't chance it. I'm likely done with art now because there's no-where else to go with it.

BLM. If you disagree, unwatch me.
Posted 5 years agoI know I'm hardly active here these days. I know I don't write journals. Which should tell you how important this is to me that it compelled me to say it.
I'll keep this short.
Black lives matter.
If you come at me with that "All lives matter" crap or you simply don't agree, then you're free to unwatch me. I don't want to hear about it, I don't want your apologies or your condemnation. I don't care.
On this matter I am unshakable. I stand with the protesters and I stand against the fascisistic brutality of the police. To me, there's a line as sharp and as clear as glass on this matter. Either you stand against the tyranny of those in power, or you march in lockstep with the oppressors.
Stay safe everyone. Remember to vote this year.

A whole year of not submitting a single thing to FA.
Posted 6 years agoYeah, journals don't count because no-one cares about those.
For the first time since I joined up, I've gone an entire year without uploading so much as a stupid short story or something.
What does this mean? Probably nothing. Almost certainly nothing. Either I'll move, get my shit together and do art again or this account will continue to be a lurker account where I just fave stuff and occasionally comment on it.
Don't even know why I'm typing this tbh, I'm feeling so utterly detached that this all feels even more pointless than it already is.
Happy new year.

Birthday. Please don't bother.
Posted 7 years agoFigured I'd post this here too, though it's less of a problem since FA doesn't announce birthdays and crap.
I usually get a bunch of shouts and stuff wishing me a happy birthday. Please don't waste your time.
I'm absolutely over birthdays for a while. The most important person in my life is gone forever, so it feels utterly pointless marking the occasion. And I already had less interest in my birthday before that happened.
It's my first birthday without her and I'm just going to sit in my room with the curtains closed and play video games all day.

Critique requested. I want to improve something.
Posted 7 years agoI don't normally ask for critique. It's not something I'm afraid of if it's constructive, but generally speaking it's not something I seek. I do art stuff purely as a hobby and not as a means to make money or gain employment, so I mostly critique myself.
However...my friend is going to a comic con in July and Jennifer Hale's going to be there. He's said he'll gladly get her autograph for me and I got the idea that I could get a professional print of my Shepard piece and have her sign that.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/18254221/
Now, overall I'm very happy with how this came out. I know the lips don't look right, I plan on going back into the layers to mess around with those to see if I can make them stand out less.
Can any of you guys point out mistakes that you can see, or things that don't look right? It doesn't necessarily have to be constructive. If you just want to say "The arm looks wrong because..." followed by "but I dunno how to fix it =(" that's fine, but "The arm looks wrong" is a lot less helpful.
I should also point out I'm only intrested in critique on the *colouring*. I didn't draw this, nor did I ink this and more to the point I have no issues with the original drawing, the style nor how it was inked. Those are imutable. It's just colour issues I'm looking for suggestions on.
Also "I think it looks fine!" comments, while appreciated and flattering, are kinda outside of the scope of this journal. It's good if you like it, but I don't wanna know what's good...I wanna know what looks off or wrong =)
Thanks, guys!

Why not.

Wondering if I'm just done with art.
Posted 7 years agoLongest motivation dry spell I've ever had. But it feels like more than that. Like...nothing's inspiring me, even.
I'd at least have ideas before and a lack of motivation to make use of them. Now I see an inked piece I like and I think nothing more of it. Used to be "Ooohh, I could colour that!"
Maybe it's just the circumstance I'm in. Unstable life, job that's going to change, moral at work pretty damn low, general stress about my future...
Or maybe I'm just done.

John Bain, aka Totalbiscuit, has passed away.
Posted 7 years agoNever met the guy. Always wanted to. Only properly started watching his channel a couple of years ago and wished I'd watched it sooner. Yet I feel such a profound sense of loss now that he's gone.
He's been instrumental in shaping how I think about games as a medium. Showing me what it's like to properly critique a game, not just loudly exclaim "THIS GAME IS TRASH" and move on. He could pick apart a game and not only work out what felt bad about the experience but also why it felt bad and what the developers might have been thinking when implimenting it.
I'm just writing this to get my feelings out, I guess. I'd been waiting for the news of this to happen for a while since his health deteriorated a lot in recent weeks, but it seemed like he was stubbornly fighting it, even when chemo was no longer working.
I'm just sat here crying due to the death of a man I'd never met. I feel like a complete mess. I really didn't need more loss in my life right now, but here it is.
I dunno, I'm just rambling here...wondering why I'm continuing to type with nothing to say.
I guess I'll just end with...rest in peace, John Bain. I hope I get to meet you on the other side and explain to you why your opinion of Alpha Protocol is completely wrong one day.

This is how my brain works.
Posted 8 years agoWalking home from doing some shopping and see a woman chuck her sandwhich wrapper into a hedge, which I immediately retrieve and make a sarcastic comment about.
"Too much effort to find a bin, huh?" and she just says "Yea"
I point out that there's a bin down the street *in the direction she was walking that she'd have passed* and she tells me to **** off and walks off with her 5-7 year old son.
Now, here's the messed up part.
It was two hours ago that that happened and my brain is still turning the event this way and that trying to process it. She'll go home and not give a damn one way or another.
But hey, at least the rubbish found its way into the bin. After I put it there.

Apparently Aloy is ugly?
Posted 8 years agoI visited the Gamefaqs PS4 forum (yeah I know...I thought I'd try something other than the moronic PC board for a while and the PS4 forum is worse).
There's a huge movement of people there doing the diversity arguments and the prominent debate is why developers keep making ugly looking females. A lot of them saying making female models deliberately ugly is pushing a feminist agenda or some such nonsense.
The one that really baffles me is this notion that Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn is deliberately made ugly to help further an agenda of some kind.
Now...is anyone out there able to explain this? For one, I don't even get the point, but for two how in the name of buttered monkey nuts is Aloy ugly?
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net.....20160116041202
I mean...does this speak to a really, REALLY unreasonable idea of female beauty or what? I think she's has a beautiful face and she has a great personality to boot. I mean, I like girls with quirky faces anyway (I like Uma Thurman, for example. And Scarlet Johansen. And Cate Blanchett. All females with pretty but quirky faces, IMO). But I hardly look at Aloy and think "Ugh...talk about falling out of the ugly tree and hitting every branch on the way down."
Can someone explain this to me? It makes literally no sense to me.

What is it about going on holiday that makes me notice women
Posted 8 years agoJust come back from a holiday in Cyprus (one of my favourite places in the world) and I'm left with the same question I always have.
Why do I always notice women way more when I'm on holiday? Even on things like billboards and jewelry/perfume ads and so on. I keep noticing all these really attractive women and I find myself staring.
My general standard of beauty isn't the usual hollywood style where people look fake (and it certainly isn't that current style so many women seem to do with horrible fake eyebrows and enough fake tan to make you look like a ganguro girl). I like a more plain female, usually with glasses, someone a little nerdy or a bit bookish, that kinda thing. I seem to spot that kind of appearance a lot on holiday and rarely where I actually live. I just watch them walk past and feel a longing and I find myself admiring them, like one would want to take in a beautiful landscape, ya know?
I'm turning into (or have already become?) one of those freaks who just gawps at women, I can tell.
Then I get home and everything just feels business as usual. I go back to my low self esteem that constantly tells me "Don't bother, you're not good enough" and I just believe it and move on.
Dunno why I wrote all this really, guess I just felt like putting to text something that rattles around my brain.

Posted 9 years agoTo my Skype friends. I'm switching to Discord
Posted 9 years agoSkype has upgraded (PPPFFFTH HAHAHA upgraded. Sure, that;'s what Skype does instead of constantly remove features from MSN in order to make itself worse).
As such it's become a complete chore to use so I'm going to skip over to Discord.
I liked Skype just fine, but now it's turned itself into desktop whatsapp and I can't be bothered with it.
So if you have me on Skype and also have Discord and would like to keep in touch, please send me a Skype message and I'll probably send you my Discord thing.
I'll be on Skype for a while, but I'm probably going to move over to Discord. Especially if that thing updates to have individual chat windows.
God I miss MSN.

I'm contemplating opening up for comissions...
Posted 9 years agoNo, this is not in any way a guarantee that I will. I'm just thinking about it.
See, there's this thing.
https://forbiddenplanet.com/203016-.....e-mighty-thor/
I want it. Like...a lot.
I can't justify taking £85 out of my meagre wages and I don't feel like raiding my savings account for frivolities. So my only other option is to do comissions. Or spend evenings under lamp posts. But honestly I think I'll get more attention this way.
Joking aside, I was trying to think of how I'd do it. Currently I'd like to do just flats since a full colour image with shading, highlights and effects takes me a long-ass time and is difficult to keep momentum for. I don't particularly want to charge minimum wage for my images because that would be an outrageous cost for the 'quality' you get from me.
I was thinking of just doing flat colours for inks that people might have gotten elsewhere. I'm not interested in colouring an inked image you just found or something, I prefer to get consent to colour from the original artist as much as possible. I don't want to just take someone's work and do what I want with it without permission. I was also trying to think of cost and I felt £10 or about $13 felt reasonable.
I'm open to comments on this. Would you guys be interested? Would the bove price feel reasonable for a flat coloured image? I'd send both the flattened image as PNG as well as the layered PSD if you requested it in case you want it to get completed by someone else at another time.
Please let me know in the comments below. (Please, no "I would but I'm broke" comments. They're really not as helpful as you think they are).

Laziest Play of the Game I'll probably ever have.
Posted 9 years agoJust look at this, honestly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMY_BmtJf7o
I'd been killed and was running back to the fight when my turrets got a kill. I was so focussed on putting the teleporter up I didn't even notice the other kills I got.
Meanwhile, here's the first Play of the Game I ever got. Not a bad one, if I say so myself. Shutting down Lucio clinched it, I think.

Thoughts on new Top Gear
Posted 9 years agoI'll write some general notes as the show goes on and my thoughts on them.
First off the intro was pretty damn stiff. The show feels quite American so far. Chris is bloody loud, too, but he'll probably calm down as things go on.
Okay, fairly standard Dodge review with a counter argument car added in for fun. It's something Jeremy and the gang would do but...it seemed to lack some of the banter I enjoy.
"WE GOT CUSTODY! WE GOT CUSTODY!!" Gimme strength.
Onto the most bog standard, boring, generic road trip segment I've seen on Top Gear. Even their early stuff before they were trying to top themselves was better. This almost feels like a parody of the show.
Okay, star in a reasonably priced c-...rally car? Seriously? Did you just...not get the point of having a reasonably priced car? You had that so that novice race drivers, which is what these guests would be, could experience modest speed that would feel fast relative to their experience while also being quite safe. But pffth, who cares? That was OLD and DUMB. Let's get something fast and new and awesome! This feels like when your Dad started talking about those "leet moves you pulled when you totally owned those guys, mirite? WTF right? lol"
Good lord Chris, stop shouting all the time!
And what did we learn from our guests this week? Their first car and their current car. That is about it. Nothing about them, their career, what they're currently up to...at least not much, anyway. Used to zone out during this bit but Clarkson at least put some effort in. This felt scripted as hell.
Oh. Oh and they've added off road sections to the track. They dug up the famous track to add puddles, mud and crap. Why don't we just smear some shit on the Mona Lisa while we're at it?
Onto Matt racing around in a dune buggy. Very Richard Hammondy segnment. Weird conclusion to it, gotta say...kinda standard.
Oh good, Chris is yelling at the whooping, hollaring crowd again. Are they really trying to Americanise this show? "Yaaaaay!" "Awwwwww." "WOOOOOO!!!" *applause* "WOOOOO YAAAAAY WOOHOOOOOO!" Calm it down...
Back to the road trip thing again. I'm starting to feel I'm not the target nationality for this show any more. The running theme seems to be "lol those Brits, MIRITE!?"
Onto an off road mountain climb thing and I'm losing the will to live.
Oh God get on with it! One bumps into the other and the whole race grinds to a screeching halt while they make unfunny banter about it!
"And on that bom-"
"NO NO NO, WE'RE NOT DOING THAT!"
"It's okay, I was just testin' ya."
*Chris has a mock breakdown behind*
Holy Shit, captain! The Cringe meter has just blown! We're at maximum cringe! WE CANNOT TAKE IT ANY MO-
Conglaturation !!!
You have ruined a great show.
And prooved the injustice of our culture.
Now go and rest our indignation.

Posted 9 years agoYeah, I'm probably going to be doing this a lot. I'm really enjoying the game and I'm gonna show off whenever I get a play of the game because my ego isn't big enough.

So in the world of Pokémon, right...
Posted 9 years ago...you're surfing along on the sea travelling to an island. And suddenly a big wave hits you and you drop your rucksack.
What happens then? You had all your pokéballs in there. All your TMs and HMs. All your badges. All your POKéMON bar the one you're riding on. It all just sinks to the bottom, possibly hundreds of feet down.
It's stuff like this that make me think a world of creatures that coexist alongside humans and battle using magical powers and abilities isn't very realistic.
