What happens to a character in the Furry Fandom when their owner passes, are they passed on to the next of kin, do they get laid to rest along with the owner, or are they just auctioned off?

I'm just being a curious dragon here, so please don't rip on me for my curiosity.

Going to start prep for when Irma hits here, from what the maps saying, it'll be a cat 1 or 2 when it does hit. We managed through Mathew last year and this won't be any different, but for those of you that are in the path of this storm please be safe and seek shelter
