Posted 11 years agoSo, I'm coming up to about a year being active on FA. I thought it was about time that I asked myself:
Why do I visit this site so often?
Truth be told, I come on FA about 5-10 times a day, even on a working day. It fills me with joy when I see that little "1N" or "1C" at the top right of the screen, even though it only really happens once or twice a week if I'm lucky.
I always make an effort to respond to every single note or comment that I get on here. I admire anyone who shows an interest in me, my commissioned work, or my characters. Yes, that means you. :3 The person who is taking their time to read this journal. I think you're a very good person, and I would love to hug you if I could. :3
As you have probably established now, I am a very affectionate person. I love being noticed, and I love when people respond to my social queues, and responding to social queues given to me. But you know what really makes me sad? When those queues fall short. I'll give you the most common example of what I have experienced on this site:
It's a typical day, I'm browsing the recently-uploaded content on FA, and find that so-called person is uploading pretty artwork of their character or fursona. The artwork is really good, and I'm admiring this character in particular. So I decide to visit so-called person's page, finding more art of this character. I would love to get to know this person more, and learn the story behind this character, what better way to do that other than engaging conversation! So I leave a polite message on so-called person's page, saying something along the lines that I really love the choice of colours, patterns, and how it portrays the personality... etc, etc.
Seven days pass, not a single reply from so-called person. Hmm... Must of been either busy or not online, but let's visit so-called profile and see if there are any signs of activity. Oh look! So-called person responded to a few comments. In fact, every comment but mine.
So yeah. This isn't just a one-off thing. This happens quite often to me, with a different person every time. Now, I understand that there are a lot of creepy people out there who leave creepy comments, so you can expect that not all are inclined to read comments. But... When I see that so-called person has replied to numerous other comments... It's slightly offending, and a little bit rude.
On the other end, in the less-likely occassion that I do get a response back, it's such a good feeling! Yeah! Like, I might actually be able to be friends with so-called person who has an awesome character, or who does awesome artwork!
But... You know what? The only real long-term friends that I have made on this site are the ones who instead engage conversation with me. Those few people you see featured on my profile, each one of them engaged. They left me with a message, which made me really happy. And I responded!
So I've came to the point in realising that if I try too hard to make new friends on this site, I'll just end up with nothing, and continue to get depressed while doing so. I have actually been very depressed for the past few months, and I'm beginning to see why.
But it's hard. Seeing all of this beautiful, lovely art with all of these well-designed, personality-rich characters who I would love to meet in character. It's very hard to not try and get to know them more.
Don't get me wrong though! I know there are some really, really nice people on this site who would make for really good conversation and friendship! But for me, they're just very well hidden... And very hard to find...
So I've came to the conclusion that I will stop coming on Furaffinity.
I may make more commissions in the future, but I'll keep that for when I have more income. I could go into more detail, but that would be a huge topic in itself, and I feel this journal is starting to get a little long.. If you've made it this far, then I applaud you! I think you're fantastic! Even if this was very hastily written and not spell-checked.

~ Uskie. I don't have a last name. :3
2. Do you know why you were named that?
~ Initially, I liked to go by the name "Husky", as it was simple and easy to remember. Only problem was people would confuse me with Starcraft Husky, which put me at unfair expectations when playing online! So I wanted to be unique, and Uskie sounded familiar in voice, so that was settled. :3
3. Single or taken?
~ Single as a pringle, always ready to mingle. Though I am straight! Sorry for those studs out there. :3
4. Have any abilities or powers?
~ I can make my tail grow longer and shorter on the fly!

~ Oh. I'm sorry!

~ Bright green, and glows in the dark!

~ Anything physical! I especially love dancing and playing games. I'm a very energetic husky, and like to be active when I can. :3

~ Not intentionally. Though, it happens, and I would prefer to forgive and forget, rather than regret (see what I did there).

~ I have a few habits, though it depends if they bother you or not! I can be overly affectionate, get easily excited, act like a feral, and sometimes be a little forward... All you need to do is tell me in advance. :3

~ Emotionally, I can usually stand my own ground. Though, getting the feedback of others can be very important. I prefer keeping an open mind.

Digitigrade or Plantigrade?

So I'm finally in the process of getting Uskie a proper reference sheet, as I want to make things easier for future commissions and my fursuit.
Uskie has always had a bit of inconsistency when it comes to feet. So I was wondering, what is your preference? Digitigrade or Plantigrade?
I initially wanted Uskie to have Digitigrade, but over a few commissions he has been drawn as Plantigrade. I have never given them a preference, so its interesting to see the comparison between the two. What are your thoughts?

As you may have seen from my previous journals, I was planning on having an art raffle celebrating 100 watchers. This was a couple of days before I found out that I was made redundant, and had to put things on hold. BUT, now that I have a new job, I can afford nice things! I also noticed that within the last month, I’ve jumped up to almost 200 watchers!
I’m so glad that people have grown fond of Uskie, my fursona. I love getting commissions for him as much as anything, and I love receiving comments from all you guys. It really makes me feel loved. ^_^
So as a way of expressing my thanks, I am holding TWO art raffles!
Both of these raffles will each be for a full colour w/ background completed by sif. Your character will be with Uskie, doing whatever you like! Can be any pose, setting, rating, and gender! The only thing I ask is no scat or mutilation, please. C:

I just found out today that I scored a job working as a Games Programmer for Ninja Kiwi! This is the same crowd who made the whole Bloons TD franchise! I think I got this job all thanks to my current boss being such an awesome reference for me!
Got it just in time too! As I'm finishing my last week here at Custard Square. Some of you may know from my previous journal that I was going to be laid off, due to financial issues in the company.
So this means... MORE COMMISSIONS!
And I only just noticed that I'm almost at 200 watchers! So as promised, I'll be holding an art raffle for 100 watchers, and I'll also be holding another for 200 watchers! Since you're all so awesome! C:
They'll most-likely be in the form of YCH with Uskie, or might even be a group YCH, I have yet to decide! I also have to decide on an artist that would be willing.
So basically, keep an ear perked for my next journal!

Laid off - Hold on making new commissions
Posted 12 years agoUnfortunately for me, things have been a bit on the rocky side financially for the company I have been working for.
I'm not really allowed to say much, but basically, the company is not getting the same income as it was when I first arrived, which means they've had to lay off a few people, including me.
So it looks like I'm going to have to save up, and get back on the job hunt, only four months into my first job. But on the bright side, I finally have work experience, and the boss is prepared to help me find a new job. ^_^
I'll keep you guys informed! Thank you so much to all you watchers and your support!
