Posted 14 years agoAnne McCaffrey has passed away. http://sf-fantasy.suvudu.com/2011/1.....r-21-2011.html
I know that her books are popular in the fandom, I'm sure many have read them; they were my gateway into the fandom. I haven't read any for some years now, but I respect her writing talent. Rest in peace, Lady of Dragons.
Edit: Here's a good listing of books in recommended reading order: http://www.pern.nl/library/Pern_rea....._order_1.7.pdf

Personality thing
Posted 14 years agoJust something to change journals. Here are the results I got. The personality test is at http://www.signalpatterns.com/psych_central
Organized
You like to think a task through before you embark on it. If it's the slightest bit complicated, you make a list (even if it's only in your mind) and methodically work your way through it. When you have a goal in mind, you're not satisfied until you reach it.
You are not one of those people who ignore the details, and you don't understand how anyone can get anything accomplished without thoughtful planning ahead of time.
Prudent
You look before you leap, think before you act, consider what you're about to say before you open your mouth to speak; that's why you rarely have to eat your words.
You usually don't get excited easily or blurt out the first thing that comes to mind without considering the consequences.
Centered
You often feel balanced and on top of things, even when those around you are freaking out. You're in a pretty good state all the time, and not subject to drastic mood swings.
You don't usually react before you think; you're not ruled by your emotions.
Cautious
You very rarely make a move without first considering the pros and cons and, therefore, rarely do anything foolish or extravagant.
You are not rash; you almost never act before you think and, therefore, rarely end up doing things you later regret.
Intellectual
You are thoughtful, rational, and comfortable in the world of ideas. People find you interesting to talk to. You're the living embodiment of the saying "You learn something new every day." In general, those with a high score on the "intellectual" trait are employed in such fields as teaching and research, and are enthusiastic about reading, foreign films, and classical music.
You do not avoid abstract conversation, experimenting with new ideas, or studying new things. It bores you to stick to the straight and narrow of what you already know.
Self-Contained
You like to stick to your own business and leave the power struggles to others; you know who you are and what you believe in, but you don't see any reason to impose your values on everyone else.
You generally don't get involved in organizing or motivating people, and you don't feel the need to always be seen as a big public decision-maker.
Understanding
You are willing to take the time to find out what's going on with other people, especially if they're in distress. You're a good listener, you don't criticize, and you offer unbiased, respectful, honest advice when it's requested. With a high score on the "understanding" trait, it is likely that you are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't feel the need to impose your standards on others or say things that, even though true, cause pain.
Scrupulous
You are an honest, fair person. You don't lie or cheat to get ahead. You treat others with respect and hope for the same in return.
You do not feel that you are above the rules that everyone else follows; you are definitely not willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.
Responsible
You fulfill your obligations and responsibilities, are true to your word, and generally obey the rules. While the majority of those who have a high score on the "responsible" trait enjoy traveling, they are usually very happy to return home — and don’t mind staying put for a while.
You're opposed to making hasty decisions, you don't insist that you're above the rules, nor do you feel compelled to color outside the lines.
Unflappable
You are not a slave to your emotions. It takes a lot to upset or unnerve you. That's why you're a good person to have around in a crisis.
You don't let it all hang out, which means that those around you often don't know the pressures you're under or what you're going through. You're not the kind of person people run from in a crisis.

Requisite pimping for the possibility of free stuff
Posted 14 years agoI know that a lot of people ignore journals like this, me included. But
is making some very cool pendants using snake skin sheds that I would like a chance at. Go to http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2290283/ and see for yourself.

Most people who know me know that I'm big into heavy metal. What most don't know is that I adore pipe organ music. I think that the big, old-fashioned pipe organs are beautiful, and fascinating. There's nothing that sound quite like it, even synthesized.
With that being said, have some music: http://www.magle.dk/audio/bach-tocc.....k-magle%29.mp3
Site where the mp3 can be found: http://www.magle.dk/music-forums/23.....a-fugue-d.html
Hope you people enjoy!

My half a cent on the latest meme(s)
Posted 15 years agoI'm not a fan of these redrawn human genitalia memes. I didn't become a furry just to look at realistic human genitalia, male or female. That's what normal for porn is for. I'm a furry, dammit! This is the internet! I like my penises unrealistic.

Christmas Haul
Posted 16 years agoSo here's what I got, in case anyone's interested.
What I got from my mate,
: iPod Touch, Garage Inc. by Metallica, Dragons 2010 calendar, Princess Bride 2010 calendar.
From family: $10 FYE card, a total of $360 in cash (wow), a 6 pack of IBC cream soda, a 6 pack of IBC root beer, Bob Seger's Greatest Hits, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band: Live Bullet, 12 oz. box of Whoppers, some nice slippers, A Princess of Landover by Terry Brooks, one of those coke ball bottles, small 2009 Swarovski crystal snowflake ornament, Irish Lucky Penny (yes, from Ireland), Samsung Alias 2, and an unknown (but pretty) piece of crystal mineral.
I also got books 6 - 9 of Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, but I already had those. That was a rare mistake my parents made in getting me something.
Prolly gonna go off today to get my phone activated, and buy a couple things.
Hope everyone had a merry Christmas!
