Just letting people know I might be a bit slow the next week or two, christmas prep has been making me busier than I thought it would with shopping, planning dinners and meet ups with friends and family. Also I am generally just a bit burned out. I love working with you all and doing what I do, but just feeling like I need a pallete cleanser of art in the near future to help me find that motivation again. :) Once I clear another couple commissions, I might open for some pinup YCHs, something pretty and tame to enjoy for a little bit ^^

So yeah, apologies for my slowness. But I appreciate everyone's patience.

I feel like I've bee a bit quiet the past couple weeks. Rest assured I am around. :)
Commission work is still going but being a bit slow due to me feeling a bit burned out and our power has been a bit spotty the last few days with the snow, cold and crazy high winds that have been battering the house and jostling the power lines. So I have tried to stick to some more offline work this week out of fear of losing work. I'll try getting people updates soon, just sit tight for now. :) sorry for any inconvenience. Winter is coming and so far it's all been rather brutal. Not a great sign for the rest of the winter to come. Lol

As the title says. My grandfather passed away late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, which was unfortunate, but also not entirely unexpected as he's been in hospice for about a year unable to do, say or remember much of anything. In a way we are all glad that he is not tethered to his crumbling body and mind, anymore. If there is something beyond death, I hope he is feeling freer than he has in many years. Will miss you Papa Bob. We were never very close, but you did a lot for all of us growing up and I won't forget that.

So I'll be away Thursday and Friday due to being with family and going to the funeral. I plan to try and still get some work done these next 2 days, but I apologize if you don't get an update this week when you might otherwise have gotten one. Hopefully all will go back to normal next week.

I'm Baaaack :3

Last week and this monday were all very busy and long days. I was working for my local elections office while our provincial elections/polling was going on. I was stationed at the local university campus with others to be a convenient on campus station for students to come by and register as a voter and vote for their local ridings. I met lots of interesting people and all in all it was a decent experience..... aside from the long hours and no actual breaks (We had to eat at our tables between any electors)
Monday(actual election day), I was stationed at a french community centre with a dozen other people as we processed all the people from that riding who came through. Not as interesting as the Campus setting but the work was pretty simple and almost felt automatic after a few hours. lol

Bonus! I went to Quebec City this weekend between all this to see Coheed and Cambria! <3 It was a wonderful time and a nice little break from being an election robot. We even had time the day after the concert to look around the surrounding city area. The Saint Roch Church was by far the most impressive thing we got to see. And I'm not even much of a church person. But the architecture was gorgeous, the stained glass windows were beautiful and in general the church was massive. The city was so much more bilingual than I had expected! Shade and I are both unilingual with a little bit of french under our belts and we expected we'd need to really try at our bit of french to get by, but everyone was able to speak to us in English when they realized we weren't french. It was so much more welcoming than I had expected and I rather liked the city more than I thought I would. Would definitely visit there again :)

I am still recovering my energy from all of this, my shifts last week were 10 hours, but I had to take buses to get to my station so I had to get up 2 hours before my shift started to catch the bus and then there was usuall a half hour to an hour after the shift for tearing down our stuff and then getting home. Monday was similar to this except the shift was 13 hours plus my 2 hour commute in the morning. lol So I'm a bit beat. But I'm at least Getting back to doing some work today. I thank you all for your patience while I was away from my commissions. I most definitely missed being here drawing you all and hanging around my kitties and other critters. I'll start getting some of you further up the queue some updates here in the next day or two.

I am doing a temp job all this week with full time hours and a fair bit of commuting, so I doubt I'll have much time this week. So I was on a bit of a roll earlier this week. But the other day I found out my Dad was in the hospital and needless to say it kinda interfered with my focus. I took yesterday off to drive to see him in the hospital for a while and was too exhausted lst night to stay up and work, as much as my original plan was to do that. So I apologize again for delays. I hate making excuses. But seems things are feeling pretty crappy all around the last little bit for one reason or another. :( I'll be feeling better when I know my dad is going to definitely be fine and is back in his own home. that'll at least be one of the bigger problems resolved.

I need a couple larger commissions to fit at the end of the queue. Either group pics, cell shaded/full color pics, reference sheets or comic pages. :)

I will also be drawing the raffle winner tomorrow. So be sure you've entered if you want a chance :)

So I feel bad saying this in a way. But with every year that goes by i hate the holidays more and more. The reason? My family.

I know most see family as the pinnacle of importance, but for me, it's far from it. Lots if my closer family have always treated my mother, brother and I like black sheep. And by connection, my mother is a very peccimistic, always call8ng me up to be an ear for her to complain into. I tell her "F*ck them, then." Simple as that. May not be the most mature response, but unlike her I don't like wasting my time on people out of some stupid genetic obligation. There has to be something more than blood there for me to give a shit about you. I believe in choosing my family, I guess.

What this is getting at is.... well my mom always tells me what I should be doing for Christmas and Christmas eve. Every damn year she tells me I have to show up for the Christmas eve family dinner at my nan' s. Usually i enjoy very little, if at all. The only silver lining is seeing some of my cousins whom I grew up with. But really I am a person who would much rather not drive for 4 hours both ways, often in snowy/nasty conditions on Christmas eve to sit and make small talk for the same amount of time. I am a rather antisocial person. I don't bond to many people and even people I'm closer with Are mostly kept in the dark about most of the things I think or feel. It is rare I open myself up to people. My bf is the closest I have to a person I can completely open up to, and even that does not include everything.

Got off track there. Ugh. This year mom wanted to visit me for Christmas, which is fine. Atleast I don't have to do the traveling Christmas day. But today said I should go to the Christmas eve dinner, like always. I can barely handle being social for one evening, let alone 2 days. I told her I wasn't sure if I'd go to the dinner this year, to which she starts trying to make me feel guilty about it. Saying my nan never sees Me, that she never sees me, that I have to. Every damn year since I moved out 10 years ago, I have not been free to choose how I spend my own holiday. It's a stressful time of year for me enough without adding winter driving and family gatherings to that list. I feel like I am suffocating. I can't even consider a quiet Christmas doing what I want to do. I never can. I have to make everyone else happy. I guess that is what you do at Christmas, but... sigh. I hate it.

I am working day and night right now trying to keep up with commissions, make some extra money to cover gifts and to afford to maybe take a week off at the end of the month. I am also trying to squeeze art gifts in for some if my friends (because I'm poor and can't afford to buy everyone what I'd like to buy them) and the stress is visual at this point. More frequent headaches, more tired than usual (and I usually have little energy, to be begin with), my face has been breaking out in stress acne, my heart is always pounding when i think about Christmas, etc. And family just adds to my stress.

Is it selfish to want to not spend Christmas with people? To just enjoy the quiet. To decide for myself for once how and when i see my family for the holidays? My mother always wants me to keep up appearances, as it were, as if to help HER keep up appearances with family that she complains about to me the entire year. If i want different she guilts me, making me feel trapped. I feel overwhelmed right now. The pushing from my mom is just the straw that is breaking my metaphorical camel's back. I just want to ball up and scream. Social obligations are my Achilles heel. And i don't think my family would understand even if i could explain it to them. And that would honestly be an easier problem to try and explain than most that I have.

Sigh. I dunno. I'll probably feel better tomorrow. But right now I just had to get this down on something.

So you may have noticed I have been quiet the past week. Just want to let you guys know i am not dead. Just took a little time off. My anxiety has been a bit worse lately and a little get away was in order. Got back from a trip to the ocean the other day. Wish I could have stayed, honestly, but oh well. :)

Just a heads up I have been feeling really drained the last few days so i may not get people any updates this week. Sorry for the inconvenience. I always feel tired and drained now and someday it's a struggle just to get out of bed, let alone work. Not sure what it's all about since i have no family doctor (been on a waiting list for 3 years) and walk in clinic doctors don't seem to put much stock in my symptoms (tired all the time, constant cough, occasional dizzy spells, frequent headaches, etc).

Anyway. I will try to get back on the proverbial horse soon. Thank you for your patience. :)

I may open up for a couple sketchbook commissions while i'm state side, though. Something to keep me busy in the evenings and to supplement any lost income from the week. :)

This week really got away from me. Aside from helping out the bf while he was recovering from his quadruple wisdom tooth removal, our cat was sick and needed tending to and my chameleon was fading away the last couple days. Today she died :(

By commissioning me, you accept and agree to be bound by my terms of service outlines below. These terms may be changed at any time.

It is your responsibility to read and fully understand all rules outlined before finalizing a commission. Should you have any concerns, feel free to ask me.



Payment and Refunds

-Payments are to be made through PayPal. Prices are in USD unless otherwise specified.

-Once Price is agreed upon, an invoice will be sent to the Paypal email you provide me.

-Payment is expected before any work begins. Once received, you will go onto the queue and I'll begin work on it shortly.

-All sales are final once the sketch has been approved. If you request a refund after that, you will receive the amount minus the work done so far. For example; if you buy a cell Shaded commission ($110) and request a refund after I have completed the lines($50), you will receive $60 back and I keep payment for the completed part of the work. You will, of course, receive a file for what was done to do with as you will.

-If you wish to commission me for a private piece (something you don't want me to post up anywhere when finished), you must alert me to this when you order your commission. An extra fee will be tacked onto the final price for this, as I won't be able to use the finished artwork to promote myself and attract further business.


Revisions

-Every commission comes with 3 free revisions. This is usually plenty, but if more than 3 revisions are requested, I will charge a small extra fee to help accommodate the extra time I'm taking to make fixes. Depending on how much revision is needed will determine the fee.

-Any large revisions, like pose alterations, must be made in the sketch stages. After lines are done, only small revisions should be requested. If you need help distinguishing a rough sketch, feel free to ask. My sketches can be rougher some days and it's okay if anything needs clarification.



Updates and WIPs

-As I work on commissions, I regularly send progress updates to the client via preferred method (e-mail, FA note, etc) for the stage I am on. For example, once I have started a commission and finished the rough sketch, I send it away to be reviewed. Once approved, I'll work on the next stage and send away, and so on. If you are the kind that likes to be surprised or otherwise does not wish to get progress updates, then please let me know when you commission :)



Queue Etiquette

-Those further up the queue are generally served first. This does not mean I will finish one before starting the next. Once a part has been done and sent for approval (sketch, lines, etc.) I move down the queue and work on the next approved piece and so on while I wait for approval on the first piece to keep myself as productive as possible.

-Exceptions to this usual pace are when someone pays a haste fee to have the picture finished by a guaranteed date, usually in a short time from commissioning. Another exception is with commissions that have fewer 'steps’ to completion. For example, sketch commissions may be finished quickly because there are fewer WIP updates to send away and await approval for OR the lining and coloring stages for a particular commission might take less sessions to complete than others. It would be the last in the queue to be sketched, but if the buyer only pays for a rough sketch, it can be completed before other slots further up the queue.

-I try to deliver work within 6-8 weeks (sometimes less with sketch commissions), but sometimes work increases and therefore the time may increase. I ask for and appreciate your patience when such situations arise.



Reposting Rights

Reposting rights are always given to the individual buyers of commissions and buyers are free to post finished work once they have received it unless otherwise specified. Buyers do not need to wait for me to post the piece before them. This also applies to any additional users with characters featured in the commission. Post away :)



Right of Refusal

-Though this tends to be rare, know that I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at any given time. This only tends to happen if the content is not something I feel comfortable doing or if there is great stress involved with dealing with a client.


Resell of Artwork

-Unless you request otherwise when purchasing the commission, I reserve the right to post finished commissions to other sites and sell prints of the commissions I make. This would likely be for conventions and such. Which is not so common for me yet, but I may be a more active artist at cons as time goes on.

-Likewise, if you intend to sell the artwork I make for you, I will tack on a one-time royalty fee that can be negotiated for each situation. My prices displayed in my price guide are for personal use only and not for intention of selling.

Dealing with my first work related PayPal dispute... For a commission finished two months ago and highly approved by the client :(
I contacted them to give them a chance to explain in case that it was a mistake or misunderstanding, but it's been two days since I saw that they read the message and no reply. I am very disappointed as I thought this client was very nice, but now they are trying to take back money I earned, and right before Christmas when money is tight.

My terms of service is coming out in the new year, and I guess I'll just mention now that part if it will address issues such as these. Clients who try to steal my earnings after I fully earned them, especially when not even trying to settle things with me first, they will be blocked and reported to artists beware.

Should I mention the username here? As this is the first time this has happened, I am unsure exactly how to handle it aside from fighting the dispute and making measures to prevent it in the future.

EDIT: They have gotten in contact with me and it appears it's just a misunderstanding. I am hoping things will be resolved soon.

So anyone who has commissioned me know that I share my update photos through photobucket. It was okay for a long time, but I feel it's kinda sucking more and more these last couple years. So I'm looking to get a better photo sharing account. But I really am not sure what is best out there.
Anyone have personal reccomendations? I have already heard Imgur and Dropbox mentioned, but I wanna see if people can back those or offer other alternatives. I want a better site for my clients to view updates. :)
